I wonder how different an INFP from older generations would be from the younger generations. I know that for me I don’t really resonate with the phone and electronic stuff… when I was young the internet did not exist and I spent most of my time out side wishing I could fly through the clouds or talking to my dog.

This is really interesting actually and it sounds like you had/have a great imagination. I think younger generations might get lost in fantasy books and video games where you can emerse yourself in an odd alternate reality. It can however get too much and also become lonely. I think my generation (younger) tends to not be physically present among peers because you can communicate so easily online and have a vast amount of entertainment at their fingertips.

      Hmmmm something to think about.
I was the same. I played out when I was younger...but also read lots of books, then getting older was all about roller skating and riding horses..then dating. I feel my introversion has increased due to technology...time to get out more.

I've just recently learned about personality types and that I'm an INFP. Reading and learning about it feels almost like "omg I finally found my tribe" 😆🦄 I've never felt people quite understand me or have the same perspectives of life.
About all you say in this video is exactly me. I love to write, I've always been into fantasy books and worlds and felt sad not to be able to live inside those books... I often stare through the window lost in my thoughts. I've always felt weird to say that I connect better with animals than people. Actually I speak to cats and birds too 😂 As a kid, I had one special tree-friend in the forest I used to talk to when I was sad. Etc etc.
There's one more thing that infp"s have in common - feeling not belonging to this world, feeling that day-to-day everyday-life struggles are too hard to handle.

I so resonate with the personal sound track theme, although for me it's my environment that conjures up an atmosphere that I can think of the perfect sound track for. So if I'm driving through a mysterious misty morning with the winter trees stretching out their bare branches and looking extra mystical, I instantly associate the perfect song with that moment and I have to pull over and find the track on spotify to play immediately. And then my imagination can run its exhilarating course.
And of course the animal connection. I own a cat and a dog. Every morning I wake up to both of them snuggled up on either side of me, and then i go downstairs for coffee and put a cushion on either side of me and they both jump up and take their place. They must also have Si as they enjoy the daily morning routine as much as I do. It's a blessed thing to be an INFP.

I feel being an INFP makes it easy for me to come up with stories when reading tarot cards for myself and others . The stories feel like they make so much sense and flow . I also find strong meanings from song lyrics and signs and synchronicities I am aware of everywhere . I spend a lot of time in my mind thinking about the deeper meaning of everyday things that happen and even longer on the magical things that happen or life patterns and cycles we sometimes get caught up on . I’m always trying to find clarity of the why everything happens and all of these thoughts make me stay in my mind way too much 😅❤ thank you for the video !

      - Connection to fictional worlds YES it makes me emotional just thinking about it I’m tearing up
      - Invested in fictional characters
      - Wanting to change the world
      - Organising spaces (only some 😂 and all other spaces are cluttered)
      - Finding depth in simple plots or stories
      - Relating personal experience to Universal theme
      - Reflect on Time
      - Ponder over meaning of lyrics
      - Connection with animals and nature

I felt the same after having kids, that the real world responsabilities took over for many years. But now the kids are 9 and 11 and I am able to lose myself in reading again, for example (when I start a book, I need at least 10 hours free time without someone wanting something from me 😅). And writing too - I was able to publish my own book and writing a new one for kids. So yeah...sometimes those creative juices dry up for some period, but they are still there and you can still find them when there's right time :)

Music is a key affinity for sure. Emotion is a great barometer. I used to believe it more and giving more credence than I used to allow the influence of others ideas because I have often found my own leanings only offer a single vantage point. Admittedly I much prefer to let my imagination do most of the work even at work. 😂 Because so many people seriously lack and discredit imagination.

Thanks for provoking reflection. Almost all of these resonate strongly! I derive much pleasure contemplating the interrelatedness between humans, animals (especially our primate cousins), and trees/plants, all with their own specialized intelligences. All of nature can provide endless fuel for our rich imaginations, and contemplation of our place within it. In e. e. cummings' poem "in time of daffodils", he wrote "the aim of waking is to dream". And dreaming is not some idle activity as some other types would have us think, but is an essential part of experiencing the world. OK, I edited this down to just a few lines, LOL. You reminded me to deal with the pile of clothes heaped on my chair. I'm excited to see what I might find under there!

    Hi Matt !
Thank you for this video, something interesting after missing your channel for a long time due to real life commitments. Love it and looking forward to write my long reaction about it in my blog post.
TBH, surprisingly resonated with all of 22 things you have mentioned in this video. And I'll share some of my reactions right here...
6:06 Wow, this point reminds me of something from the past. Since I was young, I found out that I prefer to write letters ( by hand or typing) than vis-a-vis conversations, when I wanted to tell something important and meaningful to people I knew at that time. More effective.
And BTW, if you noticing my responses to your videos in the past, you'll find out that those comments mostly were edited. TBH for several times...😅
9:06 Some words popped out from my mind, suddenly... Petrichor... Nostalgia... Nosforia... And power of scents and sounds can even re-evoke CPTSD trauma in some INFP who are been abused in their pasts.
13:21 This point reminds me to the story written by Paul Galico titled The Enchanted Doll. The story of how Dr Stephen Amony found out Mary Nolan, his soulmate-spouse. And I feel like a kindred soul to Mary...
Village By The Sea by Anita Desai and Rice Without Rain by Minfong Ho are also honoured mentioning.
And not only limited to fictional characters but to real life people as well.
12:37 This is also because we INFPs having Ni as our demonstrative function ( something to do with Socionics). We got it in 4D, somehow we prefer our Ne creative function, because INFP are Si users, Si is all about comfort zone, maintaining optimism and familiarity.

  • @saifiiui

Helping the underdog is also relates me well.

I must be an odd INFP. Rich inner world? Creating stories about other people? Nah. I don't know. I'm creative but creating inner worlds doesn't come naturally. My mental stimulation comes from visions and ideas often related to the real world, but always spiced up with imaginary scenarios. And lots of analysis and planning and abstract thinking, that's fun!
I mean, I love creative things, but the best projects are those that involve some bigger goal that in itself is more practical. So essentially I'd rather use my creativity as a tool to bring about change in the world on a practical level, rather than creating for the sake of creating. Plus I feel like one of my strengths is to initiate those projects, and get the ball rolling. Which doesn't feel very INFP-ish but maybe it is??? I mean using Fi and Ne together can make us quite persistent and hopeful, which means we’ll see possibilities where others might not, which ofc leads to initiation.
But I mean.. I also love stories, I analyse lyrics, and I deeply empathise with characters in books. Like, A LOT. And I enjoy art in general, I like nature, and I have a deep sense of empathy, I'm interested in human nature and I like to help others. Which is kinda stereotypical, I guess. Oh and I love animals. And I believe animals are way more concious than most people give them credit for.
I think sometimes I might come off as an INTJ or INTP or ENFP... but I'm defo INFP. :)
    I think I’m INFP 964 or 963

I had no idea about personality types back then and only found out about personality types recently. And luke is an infp character so its funny. I identify with a lot of characters in the fiction world. Harry potter was another. Him being locked in the cupboard under the stairs. Seems to be characters naturally mundane. A farmer, a orphan and then destiny kicks in and its like this is who they really are. A jedi and a wizard. Lmao 😅
