Hi again from Texas, Cedric! I interpret Diana's performance as desperation, that's she's losing herself to something she can't help herself. And that voice! OMG!! This was Week 1 of a 9-week TV show where the participants judge/rate themselves. Unique format, very cool. The idea was to take the artists out of their comfort zones and have them perform in all sorts of different genres/styles to demonstrate their versatility--and rate themselves doing it. Diana is up against some serious competition here. There is a lot of talent among the participants. I don't want to spoil anything, but Diana gives some epic performances. I highly recommend "Oh, it is Not Yet Evening", "The Path", "The Crow" (which is my new favorite Diana song), and "Personal Jesus". You will get to see Diana as you've never seen her before.

I was very shocked to see that someone of Diana's age would consider taking on something of such significance from the past, but to her credit, she performed this eleganty. It was beautiful and her voice just hypnotic and haunting. This has to be the one of the best of her performeces ive ever heard and the Russian overtones is mesmorising thoughout. Thank You, Diana... Then they set Diana loose on it with all the work she has done through lockdown on developing her high range and control. Stage production values were first rate Camera,sound Costume (that image of her in front of the mid low belt should become a poster ). Set and lighting. Net result 5th Elements Diva set against Camerons planet Pandora at night in Avatar all packed into a 3.5mins format. I love the fact that Cinderella girl not only got to go to the Ball but play the stage Diva 🤩💖😇 The Bearded guest judge is a well known opera singer and producer his wife a top Russian Soprano ... he said he had never felt such raw emotional power coming from such a young artist.🤯👌🏻 There is a later performance that matches this but sees Diana back in her Earthly Shamanistic vibe thats Crow...😎👌🏻 the final one of the series is Your Own personal Jesus.. originally by Depeche Mode.🇬🇧

Cedric, I always love how you break things down, with your professional background you see more than most do. I wish you would have rewound the song a bit when you stopped it, especially at the end. You heard her power, but had you rewound it a bit before that, that power would have hit you in the face. Pausing is fine, but when you pause and then just start it up again, a lot is lost . That look in her eyes near the end is powerful, and if you look close you can see her eyes well up with tears and you see her at the end turn around to wipe them off. She put her everything into this song. Thank you so much, and I think I keep catching you in movies or shows on tv. or someone that looks like you.

Great reaction! Great analysis! This was her first performance of a nine week show and she set the bar very high. The reaction of the crowd, that eruption was what she was reacting to. Like you said, she is so humble, and no I don’t think she knows just how special she is. If it wasn’t for GITIS, I believe she would be in the UK or LA by now.

Cedric, It is interesting to note that Diana Ankudinova is now 18 years old. This performance took place in May of last year, just after her 18th birthday. Her cover of the Elvis Presley classic, "Can't Help Falling In Love" really demonstrates that Diana is a true contralto, a rare female voice type and, in particular, the quality of her tone, timbre, the roundness of her sound, and the resonance, and depth of her voice further defines her as a "dramatic contralto" which puts her in the category of rarest of the rare. DIANA ANKUDINOVA has truly made this song her own. Also, on average the vast majority of female singers don't really reach fully vocal maturity until they are 22 to 25 years of age. I can just imagine what Diana will sound like with 4 to 7 more years of voice training, practice with her voice coach along with improving and refining her live performances on stage.

Like the reflection at the beginning, she mirrored that song, major to minor, sweet pain of love to it's tragic,obsessive parts. In all it wasn't as much about singing a song, as about showcasing her vocal prowess. everything here,deep and high power and emotional expression. The other participants were shell shocked and called it otherworldly and one said, that the production showcased VR optics and Diana developed a vocal virtual reality. I agree! Diana's music and voice is perfect for any film genre and yet appeals and draws the viewer in. Dimash is another one to do that but for this one, Diana gives a Lotus of her range and delivery.
First, her control over her straight tones is incredible. Second, in the remarks portion, multiple members of the jury remarked on the unbelievable amount of energy they felt moving through them during this performance-they said they'd never experienced anything like it. The gentleman who stood up in the jury, is the husband of Russian uber-soprano Anna Netrebko, so he knows powerful voices (he's an opera singer himself, Yusif Eyvasov)! He was just stunned by her. This is a singing contest so no auto tune or electronic augmentation. At 18, she is very early in her development, but I believe she is already a true polyphonic contralto, {rare}. with amazing range and control. I hope that as she matures, she will transition into a full dramatic contralto, {very rare}. The judge standing on the top row with the beard and tears in his eyes is Yusif Eyvazov who is married to Anna Netrebko, both well-known and respected opera singers. What does it say about her performance if she could move him to tears?

Cedric, I always love how you break things down, with your professional background you see more than most do. I wish you would have rewound the song a bit when you stopped it, especially at the end. You heard her power, but had you rewound it a bit before that, that power would have hit you in the face. Pausing is fine, but when you pause and then just start it up again, a lot is lost . That look in her eyes near the end is powerful, and if you look close you can see her eyes well up with tears and you see her at the end turn around to wipe them off. She put her everything into this song. Thank you so much, and I think I keep catching you in movies or shows on tv. or someone that looks like you.
Hello Michael. Yes. I support the problematic point of pausing the video to comment. Sometimes you miss very special moments that you can only really experience in a larger context. And that was the case in this particular situation. Rewinding a little would help like you said.

Great reaction! Great analysis! This was her first performance of a nine week show and she set the bar very high. The reaction of the crowd, that eruption was what she was reacting to. Like you said, she is so humble, and no I don’t think she knows just how special she is. If it wasn’t for GITIS, I believe she would be in the UK or LA by now.

Her cover of the Elvis Presley classic, "Can't Help Falling In Love" really demonstrates that Diana is a true contralto, a rare female voice type and, in particular, the quality of her tone, timbre, the roundness of her sound, and the resonance, and depth of her voice further defines her as a "dramatic contralto" which puts her in the category of rarest of the rare. DIANA ANKUDINOVA has truly made this song her own.
Also, on average the vast majority of female singers don't really reach fully vocal maturity until they are 22 to 25 years of age. I can just imagine what Diana will sound like with 4 to 7 more years of voice training, practice with her voice coach along with improving and refining her live performances on stage.

Like the reflection at the beginning, she mirrored that song, major to minor, sweet pain of love to it's tragic,obsessive parts. In all it wasn't as much about singing a song, as about showcasing her vocal prowess.

I agree! Diana's music and voice is perfect for any film genre and yet appeals and draws the viewer in. Dimash is another one to do that but for this one, Diana gives a Lotus of her range and delivery.
First, her control over her straight tones is incredible. Second, in the remarks portion, multiple members of the jury remarked on the unbelievable amount of energy they felt moving through them during this performance-they said they'd never experienced anything like it. The gentleman who stood up in the jury, is the husband of Russian uber-soprano Anna Netrebko, so he knows powerful voices (he's an opera singer himself, Yusif Eyvasov)! He was just stunned by her. All these pros gobsmacked by a 18 year old's voice. Amazing 🤯🥰❤️ Happy New Year, Cedric!!! 🎉🎉🎉

It's her polyphonic voice that makes her sound so incredible and unique, on top of being a dramatic contralto!
This is a singing contest so no auto tune or electronic augmentation. At 18, she is very early in her development, but I believe she is already a true polyphonic contralto, {rare}. with amazing range and control. I hope that as she matures, she will transition into a full dramatic contralto, {very rare}. The judge standing on the top row with the beard and tears in his eyes is Yusif Eyvazov who is married to Anna Netrebko, both well-known and respected opera singers. What does it say about her performance if she could move him to tears?
