I know exactly what you’ve gone through, I’m literally in the same situation. I was clean off the devils dandruff for 3 yrs. I relapsed back in July once, didn’t touch it until 2 1/2 weeks ago and here I am smoking away. I eat, I sleep, I go to work, I come home, I smoke, and so on and so on. I don’t want to continue being a functioning meth addict. I have enough to go another day or two. And I’ll put it all behind me. I’ll call upon our Lord God to remove all cravings and I’ll embrace myself for going through detox. Pray for me.

We can make it through this. When I was on the streets I quit for the longest time I have yet and I didn't have my family or the love of my life and I never knew if I could see them again but good things will come we just need to keep telling the devil no. He's powerful but remember he has no authority to make us do anything.

What drives continued meth use is first the fear of what will happen without it, and second the belief that it will fix what's wrong. Once you've overcome these obstacles, you are left with who you are, and that is the most difficult part to fix.

It makes sense in a way since bupropion is more of a stimulant-type antidepressant than the others due to it being an SNRI instead of an SSRI. The norepinephrine reuptake probably helps quite a bit.

Hi Dr B, are there any treatments available for those that use meth in low doses to self - medicate for weight loss ? There is little focus to this area of meth use, is it due to most of these users having the control to stop at random ? Would this type of use, be characterized as a traditional meth addiction ? Many Blessings To You, and Thank You for your content 🙏🏾

Hello Dr B - I really appreciate your videos - the cadence of your voice and delivery of your speech I find extremely helpful to fully grasp and understand the information. It strongly motivates me to end this struggle of quitting. My addictive use stems from meths ability to rid me of alcohol. I seem to have found comfort in a life of imprisonment and sorrow. More than 1/2 of my life using continually alcohol/marijuana- now- near two years of meth- I have detoxed on my own accord several times. Any input you might have to offer are much appreciated. I think it’s just going to take some time to get used to being good to myself- because that just seems to be a foreign concept to me. Being happy on an ongoing basis makes me uneasy and anxious. Thanks again so very much*

  • @jtranmer64

My problem is there is a lot of ritual involved with use, and honestly that is a big part of it. Sometimes because my tolerance is so high i wont even feel much but half the time it seems its just about sayisfying the rituals. Its a horrible habit and its ingrained, i know i am calable of stopping but cant get over that hurdle of dealing with the discomfort of not doing the ritual, feeling different, and having to just sit and feel my feelings. I have quit other things before for a time, and the immediate post-quit discomfort, combined with real emotions coming and flooding back in, i completely hate that. I cant stand it, cant stand having to deal with myself, just there, having to deal with myself, having to be uncomfortable, exposed, and bored.
Having said all that, i dont believe for a second that addiction is an actual disease. Its a mental problem. If it were a real disease, it would be diagnosed by a doctor definitively like any other disease. Instead, what happens is filling out a questionaire and a brief conversation, usually not with a doctor at first, that apparently, based on our answers, determines this disease. What other disease do you know of that can be imposed on you without a doctors diagnosis? And do doctors even have a definitive way to diagnose it? If we are going to put addiction in the hands of the medical field to treat as a real disease, then we should treat is as such. Not this nonsense that permeates through all the rehab centers that the solution to said disease is spiritual in nature (i.e. AA/NA cult speak). This disconnect is so apparent to me, and somewhere along the line society decided it was perfectly ok to apply religion to fix a so called medical problem. It is for this reason that if im ever going to quit for good, it will never be through the rehab system and 12 step cults. Youre basically paying like $25000 at least, to hear the same shit, about surrendering to a higher power, etc. all the freaking time non stop for 30 days, and made to feel like shit and question yourself if you have a problem with it. No thank you.

I struggle with my friend because hes of the belief that addicts are a drain on society because of what theyll do to others and their habitation during their addiction and the so called unwillingness to choose sobriety. He says that our city has lots of support available but these people can't even hand a paper in and wont do the little due diligence. Or they wont go into recovery programs because they dont want to follow the rules. While these things all have a part in the truth i know its not that simple. But I'm really bad at debate. How can i push back against this limited scope?

I didn't have a problem quiting at all to be 100% I did it on and off for 4 to 5 years and what I've seen as the biggest issue with people is not so much the drug itself but what they do on the drug that brings them to shame. I honestly just noticed that I accidently got honest on it. I accidently got more focus and would read and watch videos. That's was my go to thing to do. I stayed in abusive relationships that I served 2 men with some loyalty and spared a couple lives. Showed too much love and got disrespected but neglected my children for theirs.

    • @A-OK-47

I got extra anxiety from abusid relationships. Caused a lot of trauma then my Dr put me on Xanax and I stayed on the trauma because my instinctive reaction to flee was gone and I thought it was okay. Then I got off of Xanax and the meth and I exercise and drink so much water and now I walk obsessively because I have to rebuild my dopamine levels on my own. Exercise is the best. I have emotions now and I fear nothin but complacency

I learned about that a few years ago and had even attempted to get a prescription at one point. There were two problems I ran into. One was that I was going to a teaching clinic for my health care at that time, and they have so many regulations that it would have been a real hassle. The other is that the drug would be prescribed for an off label use and my insurance won't pay for it. From what I understand, it's very expensive.

Lol its pretty hard to treat, either that or I'm just a hopeless case, which I don't think anyone is hopeless its just a matter of whether I die or get sober first. I've done pretty much every drug imaginable man, but I don't think I have any other drug use disorders other than the meth, because I'm not on any maintenance medication for opiates. Ever since I tried meth 3 years ago I only go on runs with meth. I've relapsed on weed or alcohol, sure. But ever since I found meth I have not touched anything other than weed or alcohol. I've been in an out of treatment for 2 years as of this month, I'll stay in treatment a month or 2 and then I'll stay sober for a week or 2. I've lost pretty much everything I'm in a hotel using right now. And when I say I've lost everything, I couldn't give two shits about the car or the house or the clothes, what I miss the most is the trust of my friends and family, my self confidence and self worth, everything non materialistic that makes you a human being. I really wanna stay quit bro I do. This blows. An understatement

I have so many health issues from that poison and im so stupid to keep putting that crap in my body. Ill tell you my opinion why its so hard to quit .because meth is every where. I live in a good neibor hood and i cant go one block without seeing someone who has it..one way to quit for sure is to move to the middle of the ocean on a boat.

Doc. Have you seen the documentary about treating Herion / harm reduction in Switzerland? It's a little bit old, but I think it's in Zern they actually give them pharmaceutical grade heroin, but under a doctors care, and they have to see a doctor in a clinic to get it. This allows the doctor to treat for other problems such as depression, talk therapy, and they don't judge them and don't make them go to methadone or anything else. It was very interesting, and people were able to get their lives back and get jobs, get out of the court system, etc. It's the illegality that is the doot cause of many of the problems..as you know sir.

I asked you on tic toc about anhedonia. I used meth and opioids for over 20 years with periods of clean time. I’m 4 years clean from my last relapse. During all my clean times I don’t enjoy anything at all and I have been on every antidepressant on the market. This is what always leads me back to speed after having years of clean time. I am on suboxone. It has saved my life and has helped me stay clean from both meth and opiates. But still, after fighting for so long I get tired of being miserable. I live in Mississippi where there is not much help for mental health and honestly, I'm not sure my problem can be helped. I've been like this since I was a child, and my grandmother and mother are the same way. Sad but my grandmother will die and she was miserable her whole life. She gave up a long time ago, I don't want to be that way. Do you have any suggestions?

I had two miscarriages in 2020 and can’t help but wonder if me quitting Methamphetamine from one day to the other had anything to do with miscarrying. It helps me function day to day and gives a certain level of productivity but within I know it’s wrong on every level and wish I could experience a good time without this artificial addictive. Worst part is I only always really feel like quitting when I’m high on it. Other times it’s just a push and nothing around me works until I relapse. A never ending circle since 2020 after a very traumatic experience. I don’t know how to stop and I want to. The longest I’ve stayed without use is 5 days. I need to stop but I can’t tell family or even friends. What do I need to do to retire my brain from dependence of Meth? Please advise without insults. Thank you.

Pay your rent, bills and utlities off for at least a month in advance and then take that much time off from any and all responsibilities. No work, no school, no internet, no caffeine, no alcohol. Then dedicate that time to doing nothing but as much cardio as possible every day, preferably in a hot enviornment to sweat it all out. Do this for at least a month and the physical addiction will quickly go away, you will feel like death the whole time but trust me its worth it. As for the mental addiction, gabbapenten really helps at least for me.
This is what i had to do to kick a serious adderal habit. Hope it helps.

Btw unless your big money your probably going to have to ask your parents family for money in order to afford this 1 to 2 month detox. Swallow your pride and just do it. I had to. Just tell them to pay your bills directly and not give you any cash. I cant emphasis this part enough, do not try to detox with allot of cash on hand. You WILL blow it on more drugs if you have two nickles to rub together.
