I have a Lenovo Yoga 6 laptop, my 1 yr old managed to spill milk on this morning (not a lot but apparently enough!!) now I am getting this screen whenever I turn it on saying “setup notice default boot device missing or boot failed insert recovery media and hit any key then select boot manager to choose a new boot device or boot recovery media” so I am assuming something happened internally to the hardware/hard drive 😢 I have watched several RUclips videos on how to possibly fix that error message but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get into the BIOS menu. I’ve tried Fn2 Fn1 buttons over and over on startup. I don’t have the screwdriver to get into the back of the laptop to take out the hard drive atm so I am just wondering if you have any idea if it is even worth trying to save, or if you have any other possible ideas I could try without actually opening up the laptop? I would much rather not have to go spend $800 on a new laptop but I have to have one for school (I am working on my bachelors in computer information systems) thank you ahead of time for any suggestions/help at all!!!! And ❤your channel!!!!
1. After a liquid spill, you want to first make sure the computer is 100% dry. You would turn your computer off immediately by pressing and holding the power button until the computer turns off. Then you would disassemble the computer as much as your comfortable with, at least trying to remove the bottom case. Then you would turn it on its side and let dry for a couple days. Have you done this yet or are you sure the computer is dry? 2. I would take a look at the HDD and possible 'reseat' it as seen here. If you need tools, you can visit a local shop or you can see tools in the Repair Tools list here: www.amazon.com/shop/pcmonkey

Good to hear advice about the cmos battery needing to be replaced, if settings in the bios are not being saved. There are alot of people that don't know that. Anyway, good vid.👍
Thanks !! Glad this video was helpful :):)
I have G500s touch. Can't get to diagnostics page with enter , f1 or f2. Goes right to Recovery boot config data file missing
If the diagnostic test showed your Hard Drive to be healthy, or if you were unable to run the diagnostic test, your next step would be to try an install Windows.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 6 laptop, my 1 yr old managed to spill milk on this morning (not a lot but apparently enough!!) now
I am getting this screen whenever I turn it on saying “setup notice default boot device missing or boot failed insert recovery media and hit any key then select boot manager to choose a new boot device or boot recovery media” so I am assuming something happened internally to the hardware/hard drive 😢 I have watched several RUclips videos on how to possibly fix that error message but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get into the BIOS menu.
Hi, I have a Lenovo G585 . I keep getting the inaccessible boot device, how do I fix it. Just to add on I was factory restarting my laptop and the battery died in the process of it still restarting ( I live in South Africa, so we have a lot of loadsheading meaning I could not keep it on the charger). Please help
Most likely the Operating System (OS) has been damaged during the reset. It would most likely need to be installed. If you can run the diagnostic scan here to make sure the Hard Drive (HDD) is healthy, then do so. If not, just reinstall the OS as seen here;
