Hello my friends! This is the last episode of the skewed coffin smoothing plane building project. Here you can watch previous two parts: Part 1 ruclips.net/video/pKOhuhx0_So/видео.html Part 2 ruclips.net/video/oT5m0d2Bmos/видео.html If you don't know how the mouth closer works - here is video about it: ruclips.net/video/4mfd_YmOI2M/видео.html Fell free to leave any ask in comments. I hope you got good time, no matter with or without my videos. Cheers Stavros
Please next time have the audio of your voice and the video closer to the same volume please!!!! I had to turn it all the way up to hear you and when it went back to the video it busted out my eardrums since I was using earbuds THANKS!!!!
It’s a shame I can’t like your videos more than once. So I did the next best thing. I liked every comment instead. Thank you for sharing this little known art to the world. Happy holidays to you, your family, your friends and viewers. Greetings from the high plains of Texas.
@@tombaker3794 Perhaps this will be contagious? Having built some planes myself it is no small thing Stavros is doing and a very gracious host to the trade as well. I need to start making my spoke shaves again. A small beauty of rosewood for our friend is in order. Greetings from the high plains of Texas.
Having read all prior comments, I can't come up with anything new to say in expressing how fantastic your hand work is, and how beautiful the finished tool is, so I guess I'll just say I agree with everyone who commented prior, and based on the number of translations I performed - I'd say that is the whole world.
Hi Stavros, you know I like all your planes, but this one is really, really well done. Love the angles, wood choice combination and the final shape. This could be the daily workhorse in every shop. Looking forward to see what you come up with 🙂
for some reason, this handplane looks like a musical instrument - the ebony maybe and the shape of the wedge - and indeed, it makes beautiful music :) love your work, man
The long chip you got off of that last piece of wood looks like on of those reels they use in a barrel organ. The music it produces must be magical. Like your planes 😀
Mouth closer? Is that your own invention? I have never seen such a thing on such a plane before. I am impressed also with the skew action. It seems to cut the Ebony so well.
Beautiful Work as always Stavros! I love ebony such a beautiful wood to work and sand! Yes, as mentioned in the comments it has its challenges, but the results are worth it! Thanks for the videos! They are always a pleasure to watch!
Your patience and commitment is inspiring. You just keep on going until it's perfect. I need to start carving on my bowl again. I've got about 100 hours in it and it's 75% done, but I haven't picked it up in 10 years.
Hopefull one day I can get to your level. Ive have watched all your videos and I can see how far you have come with your skills and methods of doing things. Right on man!
Well done! I noticed the steps you took to minimize the chances of blowing out the edges while forming those intricately curved surfaces. Working with Ebony is always a challenge. Its so hard that it's brittle. And that dust! It's like working around copier toner! You have to seal all the surrounding wood so the dust doesn't get stuck in the pores and discolor the lighter colored wood!!
Utter perfection to produce such a stunning skewed coffin plane. The resulting shavings are incredible! This concluding part ( like Parts 1 & 2) is absolutely a joy to watch and see your skills to produce the ebony wedge and the mouth closer. Your use of simple highly accurate self made jigs , and hand tools, combined ,when necessary ,with a router was so insightful. Throughout the whole construction process your attention and accuracy is patently clear. All your work and videos demonstrate this. Thank you so much for continuing to provide such wonderful creative content - it not only educates, it is a joy to watch and be inspired by!!
Great to see another plane from you. They look so nice I would just stare at them a be afraid to use them. The way you clear the waste at 12:24 is nifty, I was shaping a few wedges of my cheap planes and this never occured to me. Cheers!
I am about to use ebony on a project and seeing how you shaped the wedge, gave me some good ideas on how to approach some issues. I liked how you sanded the mouth of the wedge like how some of those knife sharpening jigs worked. Glad to see you back on RUclips. I get you had some real life activities to work on, but it is appreciated that you are back and this was a great project.
Beautiful work Stavros, you are so very, very talented, mate. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, and best wishes for the new year. 🌲🌲🌲👏 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍
Wow, incredibly beautiful plane. And such fine wood. It almost looks like bakelite when worked. One day I'll get my hands on a piece of ebony ;) Nice Work.
That’s for me the ultimate impossible project from a master. Considering i made 4 Krenov plane and they all sucks. Watching this is awesome. The feel and results at the end of the build. Just wow. Thanks continue

Nice beagle, and nice plane
Perfecto todos, llegaste al nivel primium. Te atreverias a elaborar uno para tablones de 8 pulgadas de espesor. seria interesante ver el video. 💪💪

I learned a lot just now from watching you carve slowly the wedge
That's one of the biggest pieces of Ebony I've ever seen. Another beautiful specimen my friend

Absolutely gorgeous, Stavros! Wow!

Incredible! Nothing better than functional art. You are a master tool maker Stavros!
I’ve never wanted to buy a plane I’ve seen made in a video so bad in my life. Beautiful. That Ebony looks great!
Thanks!

Bravo maestro 🔥👌👍🖐️.
You are a Master of your craft.
Turned out beautifully.
Never seen Ebony being worked, looks more like a mineral than a wood, most entertaining but for me, informative.
It's a piece of art

A wonderful work of art. I noticed that the shop supervisor was working hard at hardly working.
