I restored an antique and completely blunt axe.
I made it as sharp as a razor and as bright as a mirror and kept its original shape. I like time marks and originality on old hand tools.
For the handle, I chose oak. Very hard and dense wood.
I love to follow the flow of wood and I did so this time too but in accordance with the axe - handle principles.

I know what you mean, choosing the right piece of wood is the thing. I have a couple of axes I'm waiting for the right wood to come along. Patience is a virtue. 🤙

Your workmanship is beautiful. Can you bring yourself to use these tools, after you've restored them to this level? I hope you put them in a display case as a tribute to the quality of your work and enjoy them as such.

What does rubbing the wood with cardboard do for the wood
