"With invisible leaves. Would you look at that?"
I fundamentally cannot.
XD Ahh, a fellow realist with some snark! Hehehe
@@Kurazarrh The leaves are not invisible, just perfectly camouflaged. ;)
I wouldn't have found this game without this series being randomly recommended to me. What a wonderful game & a great guide host! Thank you, Kurazarrh!
That's awesome! Welcome to the community! :D You should check out the wiki and the official Discord if you need help with anything in the game, or if you're looking for other people to play with! :)
Something about that tightly edited summation in the beginning was just super satisfying
:D Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. Those are pretty work-intensive to create, but I like the results.
Four episodes into this series and I’m already super invested. I wonder why more people don’t play this game it is super fascinating and unique from its block game cousin. Your voice is very soothing and I’ll definitely continue watching these episodes
Aww, thanks for dropping such a kind comment! I'm glad the game and my coverage of it caught your eye! :)
> "I wonder why more people don’t play this game"?
And I really wonder, what this weird question does mean! More people than what? And why do you know, that "more" people don't play this game?
I love how that button just says 'rage quit'
Haha yeah. The devs can be cheeky sometimes!
I know this is super late but whenever you were crafting your hunting back packs and then went for the last wolf you threw out 9 red meat and I shed a singular tear because I'm starving in my world after just buying the game😂😂
Lol! That wasn't red meat if it came from the wolf--it was bush meat. It's only half as nutritious, and you can't use it in meals, so it's mostly a waste of fuel, unless you really don't have any other option! XD
@@Kurazarrh oooooh got ya!!
I do love that, so far, this series has almost always started with at least one "... I broke the door."
Haha yeah the crude doors in 1.16 were something else. The constant breaking was swapped out for a different, minor drawback in 1.18, so they're actually useable now!
Nice spear throw for getting that wolf! That was a lucky shot!
Haha thanks! And yes, it was! XD
@@Kurazarrh Well, every time I watched your VS videos, and I watched a lot already, you were quite good at spear throwing every time. Just a talent, I guess. ;)
BTW: How can you release the tension from the spear BEFORE throwing it ( @19:57 ), to keep it just holding in your hand for another try later on? At the end, I always "have to" throw the spear, no matter what right, left, shift clicky combination I tried, and I couldn't find any explanation in the wiki or elsewhere for that "tension off" secret command! It bothers me since more than 1200 hours VStory playing! You are my last hope for revealing this secret! haha
@@NipapornP Oh, you can just scroll to a different tool in your toolbar to avoid throwing a spear or shooting a bow. ;)
@@Kurazarrh Speaking about bow: I have to bow to you, as one could FINALLY answer my everlasting question! Thank you so much, Kurazarrh! 👍;)
And this is why you build something at or near spawn for the world
Sometimes, you just gotta pet the puppy!
I just have to say I am really enjoying your series! I am on the discord group and I was searching for..... Something.... Examples of chicken coop builds maybe? Idk I feel like I'm always searching for something on there, lol. But I found an episode of yours shared on there. And like that, I was hooked and had to start watching from episode one! Someone else mentioned you have a very soothing voice and they're correct, it's very nice for this type of stuff. :)
Aww hey, thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the chicken coop build enough to start the series! Hope you enjoy the ride through the ages and to the present! :)
Nice! Thank you for making this series
Thanks for stopping by to watch and leave a comment! :)
Btw how often are you going to make these videos? I love watching people play the game and learning about the game before I buy anything first so I'm not a complete noob at it first lol.
@@tamagoO3O I'm releasing these every Monday and Friday. The exact timing on each day varies based on how long it takes RUclips to process, but generally around noon EST or a little later. :)
@@Kurazarrh Ok nice! Before this I was watching ggbeyond's 1.16 playthrough on permadeath and I was getting kinda confused and he seems pretty angry all the time in his vids as well
@@tamagoO3O If you need more Vintage Story LP in your life, check out Nemonaemo's channel. He's got over 100 episodes out from 1.15 and 1.16! His videos eventually inspired me to start my own series, in fact. :)
Now, I’m really starting to enjoy this game. Before these vids, I was having trouble…even with the great handbook in the game.
Awesome, glad to hear it! The handbook does a great job of explaining "What" but falls short on the "How," the "Why," and especially "In What Order?" :D
That wolves was no surprise. I heard the pup before the big one attacs.
You can jump into water to take down a wolf. He is slowed down and you can kill him with 3-4 spears.
Yeah I heard that pup when I was editing but when I was playing, I was too distracted from narrating to notice! Then my brain just completely shut down. Haha
I keep getting really awful seeds. Full of forests and few ruins. But I'm loving yours!
I think you'll find in the long run that each seed is relatively similar to the next. Ruins are always spread out pretty far; make sure you're using the map to find them during your downtime. Or, if you're searching underground... well, they can be REALLY few and far between sometimes!
If you're spawning in temperate areas, forests are very common. You can tinker with the world settings by turning down the amount of forest a bit, which might help. But just moving away from the place that the game spawns you is usually enough.
...and walking south direction from temperate areas also helps to get away from those common forests.
I just started playing this game and I finally figured out how to set the world so that you don't have to walk 50,000 block to find stuff like Purple hearts.
Yeah, I'm hoping to find some convenient translocators that will cut that travel time down, myself!
@@Kurazarrh I have not seen one yet. I found a bell that scared the shit out of me though. I swear I didn't even know that was a thing!
@@somewhereupthere785 Oh yeah, the bells freak me out!
I recommend 50k length and width, and 25k polar - equator distance. Sounds small, but it would still take you a couple of days & nights running all the time in one direction to get to the pole.
"certain other block games" lol
But, of course, there aren't any! Right???
I wonder if there are any plans to make wolves tameable. I've been playing along with you and I'd love the chance to have a hunting buddy.
That would be pretty neat! There is a mod out there (maybe a couple, even) for taming various creatures. Could be worth looking into those!
nice!!!!! i love this game
Thank you! :D
@@Kurazarrh How do you grab the jars to preserve food without throwing away the items it carries!?
@@nilssonanderss That's with the CarryCapacity mod. Crouch + hold right-click (a circle appears) and you can pick up containers.
I like your building site!
:D It's a great place to call home!
hey man! How did you grav that vessel?? Love your videos btw :3
Thank you! Carrying vessels and other containers is done with the CarryCapacity mod.
When you revenge-killed the wolf, I thought I saw a a small, dark wolf shaped animal running around nearby. Was that a wolf pup? Are they difficult to tame?
It was probably a wolf pup, though it could have been a wild pig... Wolf pups and wolves cannot be tamed at all without certain mods. You can BUY a wolf pup sometimes from certain traders, but as soon as you let it loose out of your inventory, it converts into a wild wolf pup that will eventually grow up and snack on your face.
Good for a chuckle if you play with friends and want to let a couple loose in their living room, though... :D
Surprise wolf!
He was just looking to cuddle... Aggressively... With his teeth!
Do you have any plans to move south in-game?
After the world tour?
I'll answer this question more fully in a video since it was asked as a #20Kuestions submission, but the short answer is that yes indeed, I do have plans for a southerly expansion!
Hey how do you have that little time summary thing in the top left corner?
That's the Simple HUD Clock mod by Rhonen.
@@Kurazarrh thankayou
Cheguei aqui pesquisando como domar lobos no TerraFirmaCraft ( do modpack ATM Gravitas)
You should try Vintage Story, then! Though you can't tame wolves without a mod.
Wait, how exactly does one sell a wolf pup to the trader? :O
You can buy a wolf pup from one trader and sell them to another trader. I forget exactly which one sells and which one buys, but you can. You get the wolf pup in your inventory as an item (and it never ages... basically a pokeball!), but if you release it onto the ground, it'll turn into a wolf pup mob and you can't put it back in the pokeball!
I have a question, did you record this before or after we had the conversation about skipping stages in the game?
Lol. Before. I didn't want to spoil anything. However I hadn't edited the video yet, so our conversation gave me something to think about regarding whether to keep the footage and whether or not to throw the pick away off-camera. ;)
@@Kurazarrh ah so it was directly in the middle of it. Glad to know our talks helped. I enjoy talking about moral philosophy so it's my jam to talk about this stuff lol
@@TheLewylew On my part, it's also difficult to talk in concrete terms about videos that haven't been published yet. Anything that I say has or hasn't happened yet could change if I edit out things I've already mentioned, or if I extend an episode and include something I've already said "wouldn't happen" and end up making a liar of myself! So in general, I won't spoil unpublished videos since 1) spoilers bad, and 2) the emergent nature of the game makes it a risky prospect!
@@Kurazarrh understandable but I am of the philosophy that no one truly spoils anything because seeing it is completely different to someone saying a line about what might be.
You should come up with a disclaimer *anything said in the comments is subject to change* lol. I do find it funny that we happen to talk about it just as it happened.
8:50. I really don't like when games with involved tech progression also add random loot that lets you skip it.
Getting a copper pickaxe or scythe isn't a huge deal, honestly, and the game doesn't have anything beyond copper as loot. Also, you can straight-up buy better tools from traders for a handful of rusty gears, so the impact of a copper pickaxe is, I think, pretty trivial in the long run.
@@Kurazarrh Well, if i was designing the game. The merchants wouldn't have anything that would allow skipping progresion. maybe add just shovels and swords instead. I kind of feel like a copper pickaxe makes getting more copper for the rest of the tools easier, bypassing the search for surface ore. Other copper tools, equivalent to the flint ones, but a bit better would fit better for random rewards, giving you some convinience, but still making you experience that part of the game.
Anyways. really enjoying the series. It's an interesing game that i would probably never get arround to play. A standalone terrafirmacraft with a bit of better than wolves dna sprinkled on top. At least that is what the game reminds me of.
@@Niyucuatro I think the developers let people buy tools and such because they don't want to cattle-chute the game's direction. Since it's a sandbox game, it needs to allow for multiple paths to the same goal, which creates more opportunity for emergent gameplay. On top of that, there's also the chance you could spawn somewhere that has NO surface copper. In my original single-player game, I had the misfortune to spawn in a huge limestone area that had no malachite, and therefore there was ZERO copper to be found! This was a number of years ago, and I did eventually venture far and wide to find my first copper, but boy was it a struggle at first! Regardless, I think for new players, getting enough rusty gears to buy tools is quite challenging, so that availability is more advantageous to veterans who are looking to bootstrap themselves straight to the "massive build projects" stage of the game and/or for speedrunners.
@@Kurazarrh I guess i'm more into the heavily curated single path progresion. Loved Better than Wolves for that.
