Vintage Story Guide - 1.16 - Episode 16: All Cooped Up! Building the Chicken Coop!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 мар 2022
- In this episode, we find a spot for our chicken coop, talk build palette, and get to work! But then the real challenge begins: getting chickens INTO the coop. Turns out, getting them NEAR the coop isn't a problem. But getting them up and over the walls? Pure circus.

Should have titled this "Chicken Wrangling at it's Finest!" lol nice work!
Oh man I just see red every time I spot a chicken anymore...! XD
Chicken herding...😆😆😆, not unlike herding cats! Frustration level 100. Very nice chicken coop. I will add it to my "stolen" file.😉🤫
Haha oh yeah. Discovered afterwards that I'd done something else with the setup that made it extra hard to get the darn things in there!
36:05 They were up against a vertical slab with an overhang above them.
Ohh, I see what I did wrong now. Thanks! Yeah that makes sense.
Never seen such a good demonstration of the trough method before. I couldn't get it to work when I tried it, but I see now where my mistake was. Cheers!
Thanks! Yeah I always like the trough method... except when I mess it up like I did in the last 10 minutes of the video! XD I spent 45-ish minutes chasing these stupid chickens around the coop!
I do NOT envy you the chicken wrangling XD good job though, you got em. Getting critters seems a bit tricky but I'm excited for the day they let us tame up our own puppers.
Yeah, as someone else pointed out, it was my own fault for not realizing there was a slab above where they were trying to jump! Oops!
There are some mods for Vintage Story that allow you to tame/train dogs. One of the mods also introduces cats into the game. :)
You are so calming and nice with your chickens. Adorable. And your style of building is great, I sure will take some inspirations for my world. I like the almost-european style with stone and woodlogs. Thank you again for the effort and love you put in your videos.
:) Thank you so much for your kind words!
So much fun watching you chase the chickens! You brought a smile to my day! Thank you!
Well that makes one of us who enjoyed it! :P Glad you could have a laugh!
You just remade the movie Chicken Run. THAT was HILARIOUS!!
Hahaha thank you! Those chickens really gave me a run for my money!!
I really love the attention you pay to details in your builds. Your house and barn and coop are all so good looking!
Hey, thank you so much! I'm glad you like my designs! :)
Nice to see those chickens next to the pigs and-
Oh, wait. Wrong season.
I'm so glad you learned a lot from this season.
The funny thing is, it's usually better to do it this way, with the chickens away from other animals. At least until the chickens get to generation 10 and stop freaking out whenever the player is around. I just put them all together in the second season because I knew I wasn't going to be visiting the animals as frequently.
I see.
But to build just the framework of a building and corralling the animals first before finishing the building, I think, is a wise decision.
@@Lake_Filter Aha, I see what you mean now! Yeah, it definitely helps so you don't have to redo any work!
You make lovely videos, been enjoying this series
Aww, thank you so much! :)
The spyglass mod is great for spotting those easily spooked chickens and preparing for wrangling them into a coop.
Love the color pallet system you have, very nice.
Thank you!!!
32:56 He was lying 😳😳😂
He was, indeed, lying!!! XD
Lying swine.
this video gave me huge paulsaursjr in 2012 vibes and it was lovely!!:)))
Aww, thank you! Paulsoaresjr is actually how I discovered Vintage Story in the first place! :)
Interesting that animals don't require water, yet a lack of light will kill them!
Just like in real life! ... Right?
Looks like the pathfinding algorithm doesn't take vertical slabs that well.
I investigated later; turns out I had goofed something else up and there actually wasn't enough space for them to walk through... Sigh...!
Interesting how there is a chicken item in the creative menu and traders ask for them but there's no live trap or way to pick up small animals
I'm not aware of the traders ever asking for a chicken (I recently updated the wiki page on Traders and pulled data straight from their config files), but I do know they'll trade wolf puppies. Some traders will sell wolf puppies and some will buy them. Don't recommend setting them loose, though!
@@Kurazarrh maybe it wasn't a chicken but i've seen traders ask for all kinds of small animals 2 years ago
@@tyler1673 I'm guessing it's been removed, then. Either that, or maybe it was a mod?
@@Kurazarrh nah wasn't a mod. Probably just wasn't intended or they changed it
Does trap doors count as a solid block? I thought they didn't so the cold gets in.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think if they're in the "closed" state, they count as solid (at least regular doors do, and they don't have any glass in their windows). In either case, the cold doesn't bother the chickens much, and you'd generally need such ventilation in a barn or coop anyway, so I went with the trapdoors.
@@Kurazarrh I think I read somewhere that doors do but trapdoors don't but I suppose that it doesn't really matter that much in this case but I figured you'd want to know as it's a tutorial based series. you'll not really be in there much for it to matter anyway.
@@TheLewylew good point. It is a tutorial.
note to self: get a mod that lets me trap animals...
Yeah there are several of those! I don't mind, though the chickens were pretty bad.
Or wait a year for an update that lets you do it ingame.
Please do not use pine slabs, my brain keeps swapping the "i" and "e"
XD Too bad! Pine looks too good not to use it! :P
