I think heupel is doing a good recruiting. We've had as many 5 stars the last 2 years than the previous 7 before heupel. Player rating averages are way better too

If you pay Wells a lot of money then you’ll have to pay Squirrel just as much. If you pay Baron a handful you’ll have to pay Pearce a handful and so on. I’ll pay guys like Mays and Big O to stay because they’re really for the program but I wouldn’t allocate a lot of money to transfer portal guys. I don’t want you on my team if you coming “just for money” bc you’ll leave “just for money.” I think recruiting and developing is a better foundation. I feel it builds chemistry and culture. Use the portal to fill needs and to get guys that want to be there.
Think this class is gonna be great. I think it was time to recycle some of those past players. As far as the glory players, I would rather coach up blue collar players like the 3 and 4 stars.

I wonder how many times TB said to himself and out loud “I will give my all for Tennessee!” Leaving for more money isnt giving your all. Thats getting their all Huge difference. The fact that this staff is getting beat in recruiting by Napier, who has 2 loosing seasons and clearly is on the hot seat and Auburn is really a bad sign for the future. The rest of the teams there is good reason for them to be out recruiting UT. Ole Miss is not far behind us in HS recruiting amd is whipping us in the portal. Both our portal and HS recruiting is mediocre from an SEC perspective. This has got to get better.
@jeffibuilt yes the state of Florida has great talent. That historically hasn't always been the case. And FSU is better and recruiting well. You have GA, Bama, Clemson and other national powerhouses recruiting pit of there. We have to beat the competition in one of 2 places... either HS recruiting or portal. It's simple. The teams with the best athletes win. 8th in the conference and similar in portal won't cut it.
Just being honest top 15 or top 10 classes want get it in SEC the Vols has got to do way better than that or they won't be beating Georgia or bama or winning no championship if you can't recruit in the top five on a consistent basis in college football you're not winning a championship and it looks like josh h is not going to be a top 5 recruiting coach and he's terrible in transfer I bet the Vols won't even finish in the top 25 in transfer
Class has been disappointing after a reallu strong start. Lots of misses. Not going after big portal names other than the tight end we signed has been a letdown too.
Could it have been better to not miss a few? Yeah. It could have but the class it’s still strong and they got something in every position they needed so I think you’re just looking at the few misses and assuming it’s bad.

This class is very good. Tennessee is very fortunate to have the kids in the boat that they have. Look at the blue chip ratio.

If you graduate from TN , your a VFL. If you transfer and end your college career from TN, your a VFL.

florida ALWAYS beats Tennessee in recruiting no matter who the coach is. florida as a state has more talent than tennessee.
