If this doesn't make you to be a proud VOLUNTEER Fan, nothing will. Coach Neyland was the best coach, man and soldier. Thank you for putting this together.
Exactly how I felt when I finished it! Thank you so much! Gonna be doing more over other Vols Legends so subscribe for more! Who do you want me to do next?
Major sports media does not appreciate or even like anything tennessee but our fane base don't need them when we have people making things like this 😮😮
Whoever put this together, I salute you. Excellent work that every football fan needs to see. One man I wish I could have met! He died the year I was born. I was a 48 year season ticket holder at Tennessee and man do I miss traveling to Knoxville, there simply is nothing like being in Neyland Stadium. Some people say never look back, but if you don’t know history you will never understand where you are going or appreciate your current experiences. Something I didn’t know until viewing this documentary: Bryant was influenced by Neyland’s Coaching philosophy. Coach Bryant took great pride in his defensive units stating that Defense Wins Championships something football fans hang there hats in football discussions, but one thing a lot of Alabama fans don’t know, Ken Donahue was Bryant’s Defensive Coordinator for 21 years. Coach Donahue was an All American from the University of Tennessee. Tennessee has had a significant impact on the Alabama program. A history lesson fans need to understand.
Thank you so much! I had a blast putting it together and learning all about the history of UTs greatest coach! Will be doing more on different Vols legends coming soon so subscribe to stay tuned!
That is very interesting that bears defensive coordinator played under neyland at tennessee thank you for that Information fellow tennessean and knoxvillian here so thank you for the history its very interesting
Older Alabama fans know and if anyone has been through the Bryant museum on campus they will know. Something I just read the other day said that Gene Stallings recommended Donahue for the job at Alabama and Bryant hired him in 1964. Donahue is in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
This was an amazing documentary. I'd love to see some history about when Tennessee's defense was referred to as the Vol Wall or information on Tennessee being referred to as Wide Receiver University.
None of Bear's record against Neyland was while he was at Alabama. While at Alabama, Bear went 16-7-2 against Tennessee and Neyland had retired before Bear took the Alabama job.
I really appreciate and encourage by watching the video. I was getting ready for go to bed on Friday night Oct 18th, 2024. We will play Bama. Alabama. Saturday at Neyland stadium. Praying that some of the wonderful spirit of Robert R. Neyland would with the team on Saturday. Our Team needs a victory. Thanks for the message and video. It's Great to be a Tennessee vols.....I said it's Great to be a Tennessee vols.....beat Bama
Let me start by saying wow! This was engaging as it was informative. You continue to show prowess when it comes to editing a story for Tennessee football. My only hope is you stay encouraged so that I can continue to enjoy your content. Possibly for other sports as well.
I really appreciate that! I am definitely doing more videos like these and some other content. I will be doing other sports as we move through the calendar as well so I will be doing these type of videos on all Vols Sports! Thank you for the encouragement, I truly enjoy making these videos! GO BIG ORANGE!

Awesome video and great documentary showing how unbelievable and remarkable a man General Neyland was. Hope you’ve got some good stuff from the Alabama game coming up soon! There was a low tide in Neyland stadium tonight and it was glorious. Keep up the great work!
Thank you! I was definitely thinking about doing a highlight video for the Bama game and will be doing more documentary stuff like this over UT legends so stay tuned! GO VOLS!
My grandfather went to Tennessee from 1928 to 1930, and got a job from Major Neland working on lock 13 for TVA, when he would tell that story I would say "wasn't he a General?" Grandaddy would say "Not when I knew him." I love and miss you Grandaddy" 💔
My grandfather played both sides of the ball for Neyland between 1930-1933. My grandfather said Neyland personally came to Lebanon, Tennessee to ask him to come play for him at Tennessee. There was no NIL back in those days but Neyland was able to get the players decent jobs.
That is so cool! Would love for you to show him this and report back with what he thinks. Always wanna make the family and vol nation proud with my videos! More coming soon!
@@UT_Vol_Edits This is Reese Neyland, the General's grandson. I just watched this video. Very well done! Thank you for helping more people to understand who he was and what he meant to the University of Tennessee
@@reeseneyland7989 Wow that is so cool! Thank you for taking the time to watch my video, to know it reached a member of the Neyland family has me at a loss of words! Your Grandfather was an incredible man and anyone who calls themselves a Volunteer should be forever grateful he picked UT to leave his legacy. I would love at some point to do maybe a more in depth video over your grandfather in the future, maybe if you and others would be ok with it I could get in contact with you for additional information about him, maybe an interview for that more in depth video over him? If not it is totally fine just a thought! Either way seriously thank you for the kind words, truly made my day! GBO!
Most people would say Saban and The Bear are No. 1 and 2 in a list of greatest coaches strictly going by win and loss records and national and conference titles. General Neyland was a great coach and lived an admirable life but he definitely wasn't the "greatest" coach in most people's opinion.
