Kailem Jones sorry that happened! Just FYI, Asian cooking almost always requires use of oil, garlic, onions + shallots which can splatter & stink up the house! Therefore, I use a portable burner stove and cook in my backyard lol. No mess, no stink & no stove cleaning! It’s an Asian hack lol. And don’t give up!! pls try this recipe again, your family will love you for it!
20 years ago there was a little kiosk in our supermarket that sold Taiwanese street food. My favorite was the crunchy fried squid/chicken. I remember it being fried, bagged and seasoned with a spice/salt. I think this may very well be the same thing! My mouth is crying in happy memories. Thank you for posting this.

I tried this last week. I used chicken drumsticks because that was available at home. Wow! It came out so.. well! I like the double frying part best! I tried this recipe tonight and it was a hit! Thank you for the super easy and delicious recipe. I fried some basil leaves along with it to infuse the basil flavor to the oil. You definitely need the sweet potato starch to get the right texture of popcorn chicken. The coarse clumps make them crispy.
@@aguacabana3476 I used Thai basil from the Asian market. If you wash them make sure they are very very dry before frying. Also add basil when the oil is still cold and take them out as soon as you hear the oil popping. The first time I tried it I added basil to hot oil and it exploded and splattered everywhere 😂

I tried this with small cuts of chicken breast. It is hard to find potato flour so I subbed it with cornstarch and all purpose flour. It was still very delicious.

Hi Noelle, we can’t remember the brand sweet potato flour that we used but it has little bunches of flour in nano size balls which can make the chicken crispier. Yes if you can’t get the exact same flour as us, you can use Norma sweet potato flour. No problem. Happy cooking!
Hi Maria. Absolutely. Masala will make this fried rice even more flavourful. Are you referring to five spice powder? It’s a mixture of cinnamon, star anise, Sichuan pepper, fennel and cloves but you can get it readymade from any Chinese supermarket. Hope you can find it.

air fryer! If u don't have one..man, its so versatile. I have the Kalorik air fryer/oven combo and its awsome! or if you have a heavy pot and deep fryer, set it up outdoors if u can so your house doesn't smell like oil.
