Thank you so much...my overall mechanics and accuracy got so much better because of these drills...i had to learn pitching myself since we don't have baseball Fields or even any coaches where I live in...and these helped me with the struggle
Thank you Coach. Wall drills you did will help my son as he likes to push himself backward off balance. Keeping the center balance straight is one of his challenges. I like the pvc drill also. You have a lot of good ones that I'll need to get back to.
Thanks for these excellent drills. My pitchers (9-10 year olds) really benefited from learning them. The wall drill and reverse wall drill are great because the kids can do them at home inside the house. I encourage them to visualize the pitch while doing the drill. You do an amazing job demonstrating the drills. Thanks again.
Love it. My son is about to be a Junior in HS. Covid-19 shutdown is giving us lots of time to dig into drills and I plan on using a lot of this video to do so. As far as which one is my favorite, can't say, a lot of them look good, especially those that focus on a strong and correct follow through, like the "Rocker Drill" or "Sit-up Throw" for example. Thanks a bunch!
We didn't have super professional coaches here in Austria back in the 00`s - NOT Australia ;-) - and only the top pitchers had better coaching. I used to play centerfield or third base and never really understood why sometimes I had a really fast throw and sometimes it all just felt loose and without explosive power - I still made it to the U16 national team, but we couldn't compete with the strongest European teams, we crushed Sweden though (in a game that started out pretty tight) and had a lot of fun at the championship overall - I caught a line drive in Centerfield against the Netherlands (who won the Championships). For my personal issues I actually like the first drill a lot, because opening up too early, as well as not using my back leg enough were things I did wrong, when I played baseball as a teenager back then (age 10-18). Now I'm 29 and thinking about getting back into playing as a hobby and get back together with some old friends (who are still playing regularly). Thank you for those videos you are putting out there! :-)
John, You are doing great work. I particularly appreciate the brevity and conciseness of your videos. I can be long winded and you've helped me communicate to the twitter, snapchat age. My three favorites of these 10 are #8"toe tap", #1"wall drill" and#6 "Reverse wall" drill. #2"The Rocker" is part of our pregame trowing routine for every one. Keep it up!
Thanks a bunch I love your vids they help me in baseball, a lot. I showed my choice your videos and we do them at every practice. If I could I would like it 1 million times
Thanks for sharing these tips. I am going to incorporate all of these into my sons pitching practice. I think that they will all help to improve accuracy and velocity. I am especially interested in the "Pivot Picks" and the "Sit Up Throws" exercises. Thanks for all of the great tips!!!
Ashley My man did a great job.Your prob lem is you could never do it with extra O2..He loves senseless negative comments like this cus people in stands are cursing him out sayin he’s old and can’t throw for shit but that’s all they got since he’s prob a phenomenal mechanically sound pitcher which is why he took the time to illustrate this to the hardcore 52 yr old athletes like myselfnot the haterz like yourself.Doubt me hate me U r the inspiration that I need. This ain’t delusion it’s the truth.Good luck
have done the wall drill many times. I think it is helpful. I have also done the broomstick drill to teach the curve. Instead of a broom I used a net...Curve had to come up and over the net. Great video. We have also done the Sit n Drive drill except we called it the bucket drill.
good video! I played 10 years with Texas and Washington but as a hitter and infielder. I really like the wall drill, the toe tap, the bucket, and reverse wall drills. I will be using these with the kiddos!
Great pitching drills... I love the bucket drill and the wall drill!! Gotta add these to my collection of drills for my young pitchers...keep up the great work!!
My son has lost some of his mechanics and I'm looking forward to working these drills with him. As far as repetition goes, what do you recommend? 10-15 reps per drill?
Number one is probably the most popular but also the most effective because if you get the beginning of the pitching delivery right, then the rest falls into place.
Love these drills. My son has a problem with forearm flyout and I know in other videos you have suggested the TAP connection ball to help with this. I noticed there is only one size (12"). Would you recommend something smaller than that for a 10 yr old? Also, can any ball work as a substitute for the TAP connection ball or is that the one that seems to work best?
Because of you I'm throwing 70 which helps a lot cuz I'm on varsity and I go against a lot bigger people (seniors)but I'm a Freshman and I could only imagine what I'll be throwing by my senior year
Hello definitely like the videos my question pertains to arm slot I have a kid who's arm ets outside almost sidearm action he throws very accurate just worried in the future if this might hurt his arm everyone has there own style I don't want to change his way
Hello Coach Madden! I was noticing that you mentioned teaching pronating while throwing in a few of the pitching drills. What would you suggest pitchers use when throwing a Breaking ball such as a curveball?
my high school coach picked up some pointers from the Astros pitching coach back in 2002, 1 drill he had us do to work on our stride and follow through was balance on a 2x4 piece of wood ....we would hike our leg with 1 foot on the wood and balance for 10 seconds, stride foot lands on the wood with toe pointing straight to home and then we follow through
YouGoPro the first thing that came to mind was keeping your composure while pitching! Tips on stage fright, and getting rattled. Second was maybe things pitchers can do (every day if there are any things) to improve themselves at home -- no excuses!!
Coach Madden, My son has a big problem of not finishing, and I can't seem to find a drill to reinforce this. After release his arm doesn't follow through the path, he stops it cut it short. I was wondering if you had a video of a drill. thank you. Great Vids!
Would you recommend throwing a lighter ball, like a Jugs Lite Flight, against a wall on medicineball days to practice mechanics? I want to incorporate some wall throwing but am not sure what would best help. I usually throw long toss by myself via a bucket of balls and finish by pulling down 70+ feet into a batting tarp. I do not have a lot of people to practice with near me when I can so I want to get the most out of every baseball session.
Coach Madden, Should I do some of these drills with Plyocare Balls (mostly green or blue), like on the rockers, sit-ups, pivot picks, etc.? Because you already did the reverse throws with a weighted ball.
These are great pitching drills, thank you. Do you recommend doing all of these for kids 7-9 years old, or are there 3-4 that you think are best to focus on for that age group without overdoing it? Essentially the best core drills to learn. I tend to only teach pitching from the stretch at this age too to avoid too much going on.
Great vid...my boy (9 yrs old) is starting out in minors (in Australia) and wants to be a pitcher. He has been watching your uploads and doing the extras outside of training. Was looking at maybe getting a pitchers power drive shipped from the US to Aus but it is expensive. Do you have thoughts on if it is worthwhile or what you would recommend. Really wants to work on his technique, enjoys it.
YouGoPro I might be able to arrange that...I am sure the Manly Warringah District Baseball Association would be interested particularly the kids in my team!
Question about your 45 degree angle in drill being closed off, you recommending that for youth players just learning to pitch, we teach a lot of getting glove or elbow pointed at target, this would go against a lot of the teaching we do with the rest of their throwing motions.
Really you should use pitching drills to help fix a problem you are having. So I don't necessarily recommend doing ALL these pitching drills X times a week. Instead use the ones that help you fix any problems you may have and do them until your bad habits become good ones.
My son is 12 and throws all arm thus causing some pain in his shoulder. He naturally throws hard but it does him no good. First because of the amount of stress he puts on his arm causing some pain in the shoulder area. I cannot seem to get him long on separation he continues to throw like a catcher (from the ear). If you have any suggestions or other drills on top of these we would greatly appreciate it. We will be working the reverse wall drill more along with the other steps.
I'm going to be honest I don't know which one was my favorite They all helped my son get his pitching up and good so he could pitch in his game is more often and get better at it.
I’m a non pitcher but I am coaching pitchers now. My main question to you is about the Pronating . To me it looks like you are basically throwing a screwball & I always thought that was bad for the arm ?
As a newer coach, I wish you would have explained why some of these are important and what they work on. I know as soon as I try to have the boys do them, they are going to ask those very same question and I won't have an answer.
Going to camps through out the years, nolan ryan being at one of them as a teacher, you only mentioned one, that was taught, and also over seen probably 2 or 3 out of all of them, other wise you really missed alot of great ones, too bad.
Thank you so much for your videos! I'm 17 and my dream is to play baseball at a higher level, but I'm a smaller guy, not as strong, and didn't make my legion baseball team but view myself as a pretty good ball player. I'm a second basemen but strive to be a pitcher. All I for pitch selection is a fastball, and a changeup. If you could It would be awesome if you would add me back on snapchat to talk more.
One of the best all encompassing videos of drills out there!
Thank you so much...my overall mechanics and accuracy got so much better because of these drills...i had to learn pitching myself since we don't have baseball Fields or even any coaches where I live in...and these helped me with the struggle
Thanks. You’re the man! I loved the one where I couldn’t touch the wall before releasing. Reverse wall drill.
Thank you Coach. Wall drills you did will help my son as he likes to push himself backward off balance. Keeping the center balance straight is one of his challenges. I like the pvc drill also. You have a lot of good ones that I'll need to get back to.
Great tips for a dad just starting to teach kids pitching basics. Thank you.
I did these and then threw to my dad, he said my mechanics improved, I am definitely going to continue
awesome

That's cool man. Yeh #1 is good for that as well as #8 and #9 too. I'm glad they help! Thanks for watching and commenting!
great video you helped a lot
John,
You are doing great work. Keep it up!
My son is starting to pitch and is 8yrs old. I liked both of the wall drills. Great video!!!!
Thanks a bunch I love your vids they help me in baseball, a lot. I showed my choice your videos and we do them at every practice. If I could I would like it 1 million times
I think the toe tap and the reverse wall drill will benefit my players the most. Those are two great drills my boys will be working on.
Thanks for those training pitching videos it's helping me alot
I'm glad they are helpful
My 11 year old really likes these drills and they are the real deal. Thanks coach love the videos keep posting
several of these drills will help you with your moves at the club, as well!
as always John, great info for kiddos and coaches. thanks for what you do.
Thank you Mr Big! I do use these at the club as well!
Thanks for sharing these tips. I am going to incorporate all of these into my sons pitching practice. I think that they will all help to improve accuracy and velocity. I am especially interested in the "Pivot Picks" and the "Sit Up Throws" exercises. Thanks for all of the great tips!!!
Thanks for teaching me the drill
I'll be practicing for sure

what a video.
the best baseball channel 👏
Thanks Pedro!
good video! I played 10 years with Texas and Washington but as a hitter and infielder. I really like the wall drill, the toe tap, the bucket, and reverse wall drills. I will be using these with the kiddos!
Awesome! Thanks Adam!
Great Pitching Video!!!
Great pitching drills... I love the bucket drill and the wall drill!! Gotta add these to my collection of drills for my young pitchers...keep up the great work!!
These are great coach. Had a few guys with serious control issues, after working on some of these drills their control problems were solved.
Fantastic drills. It helps a lot in our baseball academy in Mexico City. Thank you.
My son has lost some of his mechanics and I'm looking forward to working these drills with him. As far as repetition goes, what do you recommend? 10-15 reps per drill?
Thanks brother I cant wait to to work on these! thanks for your time
All were very good.
all excellent drills!
Pitching drill #1 is my favorite! Definitely going to try this one
Number one is probably the most popular but also the most effective because if you get the beginning of the pitching delivery right, then the rest falls into place.
Jaime Trevino "?
YouGoPro how many reps should you do of each drill J.M?
great mechanic drills thanks!
Welcome
Thank you for getting to the point all the time
I like the pivot pitch, reverse will drill, bottle drill and the bucket drill.
They are good ones 👊😉
Love these drills. My son has a problem with forearm flyout and I know in other videos you have suggested the TAP connection ball to help with this. I noticed there is only one size (12"). Would you recommend something smaller than that for a 10 yr old? Also, can any ball work as a substitute for the TAP connection ball or is that the one that seems to work best?
This has made my backyard pitching safe for batters.
Because of you I'm throwing 70 which helps a lot cuz I'm on varsity and I go against a lot bigger people (seniors)but I'm a Freshman and I could only imagine what I'll be throwing by my senior year
What do you throw now
Hello definitely like the videos my question pertains to arm slot I have a kid who's arm ets outside almost sidearm action he throws very accurate just worried in the future if this might hurt his arm everyone has there own style I don't want to change his way
I thank you Coach; all your drills are very usefull for my little league's players of Andenne Black Bears (Belgium)
Great stuff!! Thanks Coach.
Thank you Mario!
My 8 year old needed to learn to get that back leg driving - this did for certain. THANKS!!!!!!!
Very good infromation with drills coach.
Hello Coach Madden! I was noticing that you mentioned teaching pronating while throwing in a few of the pitching drills. What would you suggest pitchers use when throwing a Breaking ball such as a curveball?
I like the foot on the bottle drill and pitching off the bucket!! Got anything to reinforce keeping your head up?
Got a head snapper do you? Really the best thing for that is to strengthen the core believe it or not.
Yeah can't break the habit!! Will start working on it great stuff thank you!!
You're welcome
Good video!
my high school coach picked up some pointers from the Astros pitching coach back in 2002, 1 drill he had us do to work on our stride and follow through was balance on a 2x4 piece of wood ....we would hike our leg with 1 foot on the wood and balance for 10 seconds, stride foot lands on the wood with toe pointing straight to home and then we follow through
this helped out alot thank u guys for everything
You're welcome buddy!
Top 10 Thursday.. Oo this is going to be an awesome seriee
Yessssssssir!!!!! Anything you want to see in this Top 10 series? Next thursday is Top 10 Hitting Drills. After that, I'm taking suggestions.
YouGoPro the first thing that came to mind was keeping your composure while pitching! Tips on stage fright, and getting rattled.
Second was maybe things pitchers can do (every day if there are any things) to improve themselves at home -- no excuses!!
Although your video kinda hit on a lot what the second one would be. Hmm
Ok cool I'll get on it
Thanks
Coach Madden,
My son has a big problem of not finishing, and I can't seem to find a drill to reinforce this. After release his arm doesn't follow through the path, he stops it cut it short. I was wondering if you had a video of a drill.
thank you. Great Vids!
Search my channel for the frisbee drill. That will fix him right up.
I only see the frisbee hitting drill, can you show or give me the link, thanks again.
Wasserman water bottle drill.
Great work

I prefer the King of the Hill over the PPD. Let’s get some kids in austrailia together and I’ll put on a pitching camp and bring some over with me!
YouGoPro I might be able to arrange that...I am sure the Manly Warringah District Baseball Association would be interested particularly the kids in my team!

Really you should use pitching drills to help fix a problem you are having. So I don't necessarily recommend doing ALL these pitching drills X times a week. Instead use the ones that help you fix any problems you may have and do them until your bad habits become good ones.
Love the tips! Thx!!!
thanks and you're welcome
great stuff
Your advice is very good, you should make a channel in Spanish
Sit drive was my favorite
Coach Madden,
Are all these drills good for sidearm pitchers too??
Are these for all ages? I"m looking for specific drills for my 13 year old. Good videos man.
What are you working on when you do the reverse throws?
The back of the arm, "the brakes". It helps with being better at deceleration.
Reverse wall drill would probably be my favorite. I’d be slapping that wall like a red headed step child.
Thank you
You’re welcome!
Thanks, no time waste here...
I'm going to be honest I don't know which one was my favorite They all helped my son get his pitching up and good so he could pitch in his game is more often and get better at it.
Of the ten, which would you recommend for 10u
If I was to use these drills for my pitchers, is there a certain order they should be done in? Minus the breaking ball drill. They are 10 yrs old.
Are you at south orange fields because I go there sometimes
bucke drill is ok for my pitchering drill
How many reps should you do of each drill J.M?
Ahh Coach.., How many days i do all drills?
I’m a non pitcher but I am coaching pitchers now. My main question to you is about the Pronating . To me it looks like you are basically throwing a screwball & I always thought that was bad for the arm ?
How often and how many of each drill should you do?
how many times do you do these
4:47 EVERYBODY LOOK AT HIS RIGHT HAND
How can I get more movement on my 2-seam
Search youtube for "yougopro 2 seam" and some of my videos about getting more movement on a 2 seam will come up
As a newer coach, I wish you would have explained why some of these are important and what they work on. I know as soon as I try to have the boys do them, they are going to ask those very same question and I won't have an answer.
How can i pitch sliders

Going to camps through out the years, nolan ryan being at one of them as a teacher, you only mentioned one, that was taught, and also over seen probably 2 or 3 out of all of them, other wise you really missed alot of great ones, too bad.
I enjoy the drills but would really like to hear explanations for what they're supposed to address. Some are intuitive, others less so.
Can you please do a vid i don't care about credit I just want help if I throw it I gets way to much spin you haven't made a vid on it since like 2010
Made a vid on what?
How to make your pitching mechanics memory
I’m sure as you do this muscle memory will set in just gotta stay consistent
My son is 11 he has a problem by twisting his wrist when hes pitching
Work on pronation
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your videos! I'm 17 and my dream is to play baseball at a higher level, but I'm a smaller guy, not as strong, and didn't make my legion baseball team but view myself as a pretty good ball player. Ok I'll go add you on the snap now!
I’ve always been that kid with great mechanics but can’t throw hard, then I hit a growth spurt...
Slow down....wish dpentv40 sec more on each drillb
