Hi Mike! Have you heard about the situation where a male stripper/sword swallower performed at a men's conference right before Mark Driscoll was supposed to speak and Driscoll called out that that was wack to have at a men's conference? The situation has me so intrigued because it's so out of the box it feels like the Babylon Bee wrote it as a skit. Also what's a Jezebel spirit? That term came up a lot when I was looking around this online and I honestly don't know what that means

Hi Rachael, I did see that. Super weird and good on Mark for calling it out. While I agree with him calling it out, I'm not totally sure I agree with his diagnosis, ie. Jezebel spirit, the pole being an Asteroth, etc.
The Jezebel spirit comes from the OT queen Jezebel from the book of Kings. She was rebellious and used her cunning and seduction to lead Israel into idolatry. In Revelation 2 God calls a woman in the church Jezebel and said she leads the church into sexual immorality and idolatry. So it has become common for people to identify anyone in the church who seeks to lead the people of God astray using seduction, or cunning, or manipulation.

This is crazy to me, my wife and I were just talking about going to Trinity Church because we are looking for a church. I have yet to research much about the pastor and that church but we liked some of the videos we have seen from Mark. We are very interested in the weekly Real Men and Real Women meetings so we will still check it out as we are in need of a church but the context of his past is good to know. Good podcast though! The offensive is good when it has meaning. Part of why we are looking for a church is that we want to be challenged to grow. The church we really liked and used to attend is now too far for us while another church that we are sort of connected in is what I think we’d consider a “celebrity” church. Way too many campuses with recorded sermons because they don’t want to have a pastor for each location. I know that what I’m talking about may be towards a smaller crowd because not everyone is looking for a church at the moment but it was nice to hear what you had to say about Mark. Also, very interesting timing for me personally since we are about to go check out his church. Thanks for the podcast gents! It’s nice to listen to men who I looked up to in my younger days. Too bad Beau couldn’t be in on this one!

Mike, I am commenting ONLY because you asked me to at the grove mens retreat...
    Three things:
1.) I would love to hear you guys talk about the deconstructionist movement among my generation. Why are so may people in their 20's and 30's deciding that the way the modern church functions is wrong? How do I guide my deconstructionist friends back to the truth of God's word and the church community that is built for them?
2.) In college I attended a church that ended every service with a gospel message. They would spend 5-8 minutes to overview the gospel and Christs sacrifice, and his resurrection. I have noticed many churches do not do this. Or if they do, it's very short. Or just them saying "and after everything we've talk about today, remember Jesus died for you" which to me seems kinda weak. Can yall talk about "weak churches" and how modern church services/gatherings should function.
3.) Let me know when you need some real wisdom on the pod, I'll be there. I can send you my day rates.

Hi Nick, thanks for the comment. As for "Thing 3" while I'm sure that your day rate is VERY affordable, because of the law of supply and demand, I don't foresee us needing your services any time soon.

@@UnyieldingPodcast I don't know if you've heard, but the people are calling my name like the crowd called for Barabbas. It may not be the right thing, but they want it.
