I've watched a few of your Economizer videos. They are the best videos on Economizer operation, and troubleshooting in my opinion. I learned more from watching these videos than I did from trade school.
Great video. I've been an HVAC service tech for 15 years. 9 years resi and 6 commercial. I wish I had videos to look at like this one when I was in my first 5 years. Worked with too many guys who didn't understand how economizers worked so they took shortcuts or would ignore them all together.
Can't you thank you enough for your time and awesome teaching skills. I've seen many videos on economizers but yours are the best ever. Thank you David
Thank you very much ! I've Been in the field for 3 years and I now have a full understanding of how an Economizer works . Please Keep the tutorials coming .
Thank you very much, very instructive video, please keep making more videos economizers has always been confusing for me,but after I started watching your videos it’s getting little easier, tks God Bless for your teaching.
Dave, this is really good. How about answering a series of "If Then" logic statements for troubleshooting. What are the system conditions when outside air is below 30 deg. What are the system conditions when inside air is 5 deg below setpoint and outside air is below 50 deg and above 45 deg. Make up all the questions from the variables then answer them in a numbered list. This gives you a troubleshooting guide not seen anywhere.
Hello from a fellow minnesotan! Any chance you'd be up for doing a video like this explaining the belimo zip controller? I appreciate your thorough walk throughs. Just figured I'd throw that out there in case you think it might make a good video. Take care my friend ✌🏼
Could you explain how these economizers work when co2 sensors are connected to aq and aq1 on w7212 logic module. You do a great job explaining! Thanks for making these videos.
This series of videos has been extremely helpful for me not knowing much about economizers and their inner workings since I'm an apprentice. I do have an issue that I would like your feedback on, following your videos I have a carrier rtu that the actuator will drive open with either a cooling call or with a fan call and adjusting the potentiometer but it will not drive closed until the unit disconnect is turned off. On a whim I pulled a logic module off another unit and tried it to be sure I didn't have a bad mod. Same problem. I'm almost thinking I have a bad actuator but would definitely like your input. Also I watched your first video and according to the information in it my logic module should not be energized unless the fan is running but it is. Noted by the free cooling light lit up while the unit is idle. What are your thoughts?
Max L. Apodaca A call for 1st stage cooling with an ambient temp below the “economizing” setpoint (A,B,C,D) the economizer module will tell the economizer to be the 1st stage of cooling, if you then get a 2nd stage call for cooling the economizer module will be economizing for 1st stage and also send a signal to start the 1st stage compressor as 2nd stage cooling. *Heres the catch for that - If the ambient temp is below the “separate setting or switch” for compressor low ambient lockout, then the compressor will not run. But key here is - Unit can and will by design, run economizer (mixing) and 1st stage compressor simultaneously.
Thats correct, this is Minnesota where the gas piping is buried under 5’ of snow in the winter months. Pretty common to use galvanized gas piping here, Yes it passes inspection
Still relevant content! Thank you David!
You're welcome, glad its still helping techs.
thanks for the kind words and merry Christmas

You’re very Welcome !!
Are you going to upload that Jade economizer video call?
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Awesome bro just plain awesome
Thanks a lot sir
So nice of you
so assuming the outdoor ambient is is at or below the set temp for comp lockout, the economizer module will stop the call for cool?
Max L.
