Al is an American Legend. & his place is what Many Mountain Men like myself Dream of having. I put my life on hold to take care of my elderly parents bout 7 years ago Dad passed last year mom's got late stage dementia & now my brother died & I'm Raising his 2 small kids. Al brought me to tears telling of losing his sister. I am 58 and have 4 older sisters, age 69-73. I dread losing them and Al’s story of sitting up in bed at 4am hit me right in the heart. Thanks so much for sharing this man’s amazing life journey. Steve
I'm the youngest of 5 girls, too. I'm 62. One of my sisters passed way back in September of 1993. I would have loved to have had that experience. What a tremendous gift for Al.

This is such a cool thing that you are doing, letting Al tell his life story. The part about Bette paying him a visit and he knew she had passed before anyone else did really was amazing. I wish we could all experience that when a close loved one leaves this earth. One last goodbye.
My late father once told me he had a very similar experience when his, then, young sister passed away from a severe illness. He was in a different town and she appeared to him to say goodbye.
I was glad to find that another "chapter of Al's book" was out. Got the wife ready and off we went on watching our favorite show on youtube nowadays... rsrs. All the way from the remote country side of Brazil. That was a respected ZZ Top type of beard you had Al. Definitely a hazard around the chainsaw... hehehe. Great job again Diego! It takes talent to put it together so nicely. Perhaps it is a nice homage to Bette Reed.
This is so interesting learning about Al. He took so many pictures back in a day before digital. Most didn't take loads of pics due to the expense. Thank you both for taking time out of your lives to share his story and yours
I had the same experience with my sister we are same father different mother but we were close she was about 15 yrs older than me .. she had ovarian cancer and then it just spread everywhere.. when she died I was dreaming about us driving in a car and there was a really bright light and she put her hand on my knee and said I’m ok but I just looked at her confused and then she said my name and held on to my knee and said it’s ok I’m ok do t worry I’m ok now.. and when I woke up I just knew and I was crying 😭.. I picked up the phone and called her number in Canada and her husband said he just got the call like less than a minute ago that she had passed as soon as he left the hospital and go home and shower.. it’s so sad but I’m glad she is at rest
Diego, in one of the last videos about Al he suggested a book to you called The Terrible Hours about a submarine accident that his engineer father would have been on if he hadn't felt ill. I ordered the book and am halfway thru it. It's a fascinating read. His father likely would have died if he had been on that sub.
Thank goodness for captions. It's tricky to understand and decipher what Al's saying. Does he have family who checks up on him, or are you that person?
i am so grateful to be alive at this stage in history, where technology makes it possible to be on the other side of the planet, and be a fly on the wall, watching, learning, and listening to Al sharing with his friend, Diego, memories [treasured ] of times gone by.
