    Talofa, you sound like you're from Samoa! Just found your channel and love these videos! Can you grow the teuila from the flower only that doesn't have the offshoots?

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  4 года назад +1

      Nerelle Que Talofa 👍 I'm not sure if you can grow a flower without the offshoots....I would think the best way to grow them would either be from offshoots or rhizomes...hope this helps 🤙 happy planting

    I wish I lived in a warmer climate where I can grow tropical plants like ginger.

    How and what part of the plant do I use for medicine?

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  2 года назад

      Generally all ginger rhizomes can be used in some medicinal or culinary way. The rhizomes (root) can be used raw and cut thinly to add to sushi or salads or dried to use for tea and soups. When used as a medicine, it is dried and used in tea just as many other herbs are. Gingers have diuretic properties that help with "cleansing" your body of toxins.

    Sir, what is the soil mixture for this plant

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  6 месяцев назад

      @@prajwalerajappa983 I just used miracle gro potting mix to initially grow them in. I believe it is a mixture of mostly peat moss.

    Hi. I just found your video. My red ginger blooms have these offshoots, and I was wondering how to plant them. I would love an update on how all of your babies did. Thanks!

    Aloha, I am looking to grow some ginger where it had once thrived behind my condo. The HOA cut it down twice. After the first time it grew back. It didn't grow back after the second time. I think it might have been because it was all cut down to the ground the second time. The first time they left a few tall pieces. Would you happen to know if this had any affect on it? Also, I do appreciate the info you shared in this video. If I may offer some advice, personally I would have loved to watch you separate the shoots from the large flower. I don't know based on your video how you did that as well as how far up the shoot did you bury it in the dirt? What type of soil moisture did you use? You mentioned watering at some stage everyday? When did that begin? Mahalo for sharing this video. 🤙😎🙏🙂

      Janice Francis I'm grateful to you for the advice on what I need to apply on future videos! Mahalo 🤙 hopefully I can get my hands on more red ginger so that I can apply those "missing parts" and give you better content 👍
      For the most part, the shoots can be pulled off of the main flower very easily...it does not damage anything...the soil I used was Miracle Grow Potting Mix I bought from Walmart (its a yellow bag - hope this helps with your question on moisture content)...I planted these shoots just so that the roots/base is beneath the soil...I began watering the shoots everyday when the shoots would drink up most of the soil in the pot and leave the soil dry...I hope this helps you in the future 🙏 I'll put that video up soon as I can 👍🤙
