- As an early Christmas present I thought I'd upload the 1974 Christmas show with Video! This one's dedicated to Formulaonemad who's a real good friend, and great uploader. It's reasonable quality with just one problem It has a huge timer at the bottom of the screen. I really like this show as it has many good songs in it like Crazy versions of Saterday night's alright for fighting and The Bitch is Back. The horn section is really good, and everyone seems to have a good time.
I may be uploading the other christmas show with video too, but I'm not sure if i'll make it before christmas, So A Merry Chirstmas to all my subscribers and viewers.
I like his husky voice but miss his powerful young voice feel so lucky to see videos like this.
Well said. Some of the songs translate better with his older more soulful voice, while some just don’t work as well. That aside, I think he’s become a better pianist and performer over time.
Agree with you, Jason.
And what a great ass kicking band!
I love this song!!
Ray Cooper never stops.
My man on the congas is GOING OFF! Whoo man the speed is exhilarating!
I've always loved this song
i’ve listened to elton john my whole life (being a product of 70s parents). never really heard this song much, just heard it this past week, now it’s on repeat.
I grew up in the 1970s and I never heard or took notice of this song for whatever reason. It's great!!!!
Man I love this song.
47 years ago STILL seems like Yesterday!
I grew up listening to these early Elton John albums (and I owned most of them). It's true that, for some reason, this song never climbed the charts like so many of his other songs did. It has a great funk sound, and he's performing with what I always think of as his classic studio-album rock-band. This is a beautiful song that was made even better when it was performed live.
always my fav on that album, though Funeral for a Friend always hauntingly came close. Grey seal is species-specific transformative lyrical drama. Thank you, Elton and Bernie, from the depths of my childhood soul struggling to survive and finding solace in music like you...like yours
I fucking love him
#1 Grey Seal #2 Harmony❤
Great version of a great song! Also, I love watching Ray Cooper on this.
That is some wicked bongo playing.
Fave Elton song!!! Love the chorus!!!
xoxo The Clarences
The master at work!
Thank you for your music!! I love this song!! Grateful to have seen you twice in my life!
Underrated, best song of Yellow Brick Road, listened and sang to this one loudly in my youth, on LP's!!! Best, next to the actual Goodbye Yellow Brick Road song.
One of his best songs
My Favorite of ALL...
Actually one of my favorite EJ songs!!! Thank you for your music!!!
makes me YEARN for my youth
Amazing piano work at the end!
Epic. I love when he loses his glasses haha!

Sublime. As great as any Lennon/McCartney number.
I Love grey seals my favourite animals
Classic Elton
I saw him one week after seeing Zep at the same venue. His band made them sound like amatuers .
Wow
Elton @ his finest
Still a bop in 2019
Both the self titled and Goodbye yellow brick road versions of Grey Seal are Awesome
Although I Prefer the Original recorded back in 1970
Early elton is s teir
This is Fantastic. EJ still plays this song live. Thank you.
My only gripe is that I would like to see the rest of the band too throughout the video
💙
I love grey seal!
It tastes like chicken 🤣🤣🤣
💖💖💖💖
Wicked tempo
Coke is a wonderful thing
trish john at first
@@trishjohn6050 hes not using drugs. he used them starting at 1975 a year after this
This is one of my favourite EJ songs. Now there are some things I personally would change. First i would slow it down. But the ending is great so you could break into a fast part somewhere along near the end. It's a great song. Hey who am i to tell EJ how to play his own song. I would just play it different and I think it would sound better but love it anyway it 's done. EJ if you want to tell me to F off i understand.
There are some slower demo versions on the deluxe version of the Elton John album I think.
Listen to the piano demo version
:35 to :37. Counting it of. Young band.
Who is grey seal though?
I guess hes refering to an eldery man. Grey refering to his hair and seal refering to a nickname. And he's talking about him being wise like the older generation
I think Bernie basically admitted to writing these lyrics while high af.
@@alexnajera3483 Bullshit. You just pulled that out of Uranus. It's weird how people need to know exactly who something is. What if it's looking at an actual seal and seeing the authenticity of an animal being here now and not having a facade? It could be something as mundane yet philosophical as that.
@@lemurianchick well Bernie himself said there was no real meaning. To anyone it can mean anything in that case. Music can be perceived as any meaning. A song about a river can be about nature to one person, or an analogy about how life keeps on going for another. It’s all about how you put your mind to the lyrics. Music has no one true meaning
@@viljar55he wrote his best stuff that way😂
0:12 WHAT.THE.FUCK
Cocaine.
I dont think so
@@camilog17 Sure thing bud, it was '74.
he was making those weird noises in a radio interview in 1970 on WNEW NYC. That's just his sense of humor.
It needs more AutoTune……..
there was no autotune in 1974.
