Drives me crazy how they never even once mentioned Astor and Cody. If Harrison lived in foster care ( and had a terrible experience) after Hannah died why couldn’t he have just lived with his siblings?
you're acting like the writers were smart
i dont think he knew he had siblings and they were in a different continent but yea your right
because this spin off? is terrible lmao
@@rcb20091 good question. I imagine Harrison didn’t really know about his siblings until he found the podcast about Rita and Trinity. He didn’t see them consistently after Rita died cuz they moved to Orlando. If he lived in foster care for 3 years before finding Dex, Astor and Cody would have been adults by the time Hannah died. Grandparents in Orlando probably dead, since they didn’t go looking for him. Hopefully they do a Harrison spin off and touch on it.. maybe Dexter can be Harrison’s “spirit guide” like Harry and Deb to Dex.
@@Resilient_Brilliance omg stop 🤣Don't give the writers even more shit ideas please
You fucked this show's ending twice.
LOL
Nobody wanted it to end, but every serial killer gets caught in the end. I think it’s a realistic ending.
ok ill fix it. the white buck comes back to life and shoots Harrison. Dexter lives, but Angela police chief decides to get with me instead now and we have sex for 20 minutes passionately. the end.
@@Sniperboy5551 yeah sure except ALL of the ones that were never caught and were smart enough not to get their crimes flagged as serial killings 😂
@Sniperboy5551 ever heard of the zodiac killer?
Bringing a series back to life after years, only filming ONE season and ending it with the death of the main character 😶😶😶
oh i hadnt seen it yet...
Yeah, about that...
I think the whole woke thing had the creators of the series left with a bad taste having made a hero out of a serial k
Did it ended with the death of Dexter or merely him being shot ? There will be a sequel : Dexter resurrection.
@@jean-philippepoirier3552 No it did end on the death of Dexter it was confirmed by the show runners and everything so this is just a massive retcon
I love Dexter but I will never forgive you guys for the way this show ended.
Me too
ok ill fix it. the white buck comes back to life and shoots Harrison. Dexter lives, but Angela police chief decides to get with me instead now and we have sex for 20 minutes passionately. the end.
What would you have preferred? (I saw all the original series, not this final one, just this recap)
@@mcronrn well the Season 8 ending wasn’t much better but in comparison to New Blood’s ending, I’d prefer that. If they have to kill Dexter then I think the original ending pitched by the showrunner would have been the best. Dexter is caught, sent to prison for his crimes and given the lethal injection. As he’s in the chair, he hallucinates everyone who his actions/lifestyle impacted. Deb, Harry, Rita, Doakes etc. even have Doakes be introduced by saying “Surprise Motherf**ker” as a callback :D. But then Dexter finally accepts his fate, surrounded by those he loves and those who he may have wronged. I think that would have been the best possible ending.
The show was slow until the very end and that's it? His son killed him? Why? For one person? It just doesn't add up. The ending seemed force. If Harrison kills dexter, then the writers needed a couple more seasons of animosity for the death to make sense.
Loved this season, except for the end. Clancy Brown is one of my favorite Dexter villains. I really wish they had gone with an open ending, having Dexter in the northeast was an awesome change of pace and I would have loved to see more seasons in that setting
A show that deserved to have 12 episodes like the original Dexter. If they expanded on what happened in Episode 10 out into 3 episodes instead and actually justified everything without rushing then this would've been absolutely amazing. I mean New Blood 1-9 was pretty solid with only a few holes and whatnot, but they dropped the ball. I love the idea of the ending too, but the execution is what counts and it sucked
What people fail to realise is it's not a new season of Dexter and it was never meant to be. It's a continuation of the story but did its own thing
COMPLETELY agree!
@Limes_not_Lemons it is and it isn't. They actually used a totally different color pallete (cold vs warm) to help differentiate it.
100% agree!
I’m here after the announcement of a new Dexter show (yes I’m deal with him not actually dying), the biggest issue w the new blood ending is he went khaleesi on us. His entire character changed in like 2 minutes
Here is a recap for you: YOU FUCKED UP THIS SHOW BEYOND ANY BELIEF!
Ok. Someone is upset!😂
So many plot holes and really bad decisions made by the characters and huge jumps in logic. But I really wanted more Dexter so atleast we got that. I suspect there's probably hours of deleted scenes that would fill in all the blanks. And why on earth didn't we get to see Batista meet Dexter? Were the deadlines really that harsh we couldn't get 2 more episodes with a more fleshed out ending? :(
The last 5 minutes though... I was so angry, actually I'm still angry at this
Bad ending. But I thought epic show up till the very end. Considering how many of the modern remakes are just woke race / gender swapped failures, this season actually had me on biting fingernails the whole way through, just like the old series. Unfortunately they badly missed the ending, but you can't win em all
@@abominablesnowman3494 I totally agree
It was all pretty bad. Thing is the second half of the original show was around the same quality so I can't say I'm shaken by any of it. Silver linings yaaay
Dexter met the only possible end he could, being what he was. The reason Harrison survived, and I think conquered his dark passenger, is because he made the choice Debra couldn't when confronted with the fact that Dexter is willing and able to kill an "innocent".
Dropped the ball twice on the ending - your writers should be ashamed of themselves
I don’t think anybody would ever be happy with any ending…
@@Sniperboy5551 I hope this new show is dexter on the run with the people he worked with in Miami Metro are hunting him
Harrison killing Dexter is the best ending. It’s only right it was someone that loved him, because Harry and Deb both should have put Dex down . They didn’t and it drove them to death.
I liked it too😊 still there should of been more dramatic
I was mad cause they were teasing Batista to confront Dexter, and they tried to kill Dexter before that could have happened
@@NickJR528 good thing resurrection is coming next summer! We might see Batista go crazy!
Naw this is crap. Would prefer someone else but his son do it
Or just don't kill him.
The series should've ended with Dexter getting caught and going to prison. And the final scene should of been Dexter smiling at the camera from his cell saying "now I have all the bad guys I could ever want for my dark passenger. Everybody wins" 😊
❤😂
How long do you think he'd last in there when they all know what put him in there and they're his kind of person
Show was rushed. Hope you make a Harrison spinoff with Dexter as Harrison’s conscience (just like how Dexter’s father, Harry, was to him)
Loved New Blood, ending was a little rushed but what else could they do, Dexter had to end at some point
I enjoyed this show but the ending… 😩😭
Not as bad as Remember The Monsters but still odd
I had to come here before Dexter: Resurrection.
@@dfilthy9104 glad you did. Stay tuned... more Dexter to come :)
It's hilarious how quickly a competent officer/police department completely destroyed Dexter's house of cards.
Mr Krabs was really going all out.
Fo real, out there killing it as Hank, Maestro etc etc
I wouldn't have minded Dex getting killed in some way, but the way they did it was so silly.
24:00 - How would that hold up? Someone put a note in her mailbox and we're supposed to assume they didn't put the screw in his fire pit? I assume every home has a fire pit.
Not saying I am a fan of the ending, but what did we expect.
Dexter had this die at the end. It's what happens to a flawed hero/villain at the end. It wasn't a trite death. He cried. He loved. Dexter always has a soul. Think about Pinocchio & Frankenstein. At least Dexter didn't experience on his some. Or warehouse him. I could watch the series a hundred times, but this was the Tuesday ending. He saved his son. His son has his father's love.
I loved New Blood. To the people that think it was bad, or was a bad ending, how else would you have ended it?
Clyde Phillips always said Dexter was meant to die, at least before he left the original show after season 4.
I think New Blood was a fantastic story and did the original show justice. But it is also really the only time that, as much as we love Dexter and root for him, we were finally faced with the fact that Dexter is ultimately evil and is no better than the people that he kills.
But Dexter doesn't killed Logan he fired and accidently died
It's not a terrible ending. The man always wanted peace and every show has to end.
I'm not mad. I would rather have this than nothing.
11:05 can't blame him
I enjoyed the ending very much. Dexter broke the code at 25:30 and had to pay the price
Dexter actually killed 2 innocent people in the first series
All things come to an end and all good things come to a bad end. Like this show, and Game of Thrones, etc. etc. etc.
Show is great! I will watch it again and be ready for the new show!!
They really missed the boat not having the last 30 seconds of the series, him strapped to an electric chair and the entire series being a flashback in his mind after finally being caught
Lost highway?
This show could've been the start of something beautiful. Unfortunately, the last 15min of the last episode completely ruined what was otherwise an excellent season.
Yeah..they dropped the ball on the ending.....of both series.
It sucks it was during the pandemic that they shot this series cause it limited what they could do…also they 100% rushed the last couple episodes. Should have been 13-15 episodes. His GF finding out by the M99 needle marks was dumb
This series should have been Dexter fixing Harrison, getting him therapy and showing Harrison that what he did was wrong.
Harrison being a better version of dexter in high school! Thats a huge improvement to how dexter was raised! Harrison is a completely different and better veesion of who dexter was
Fix this final please
Shut yo ass up 😂
I fixed it in my mind. Harrison is deceased and Dexter is in jail.
y’all can cope this is one of the best endings to a show ever
Why they didn’t just end with a huge manhunt and death penalty and being judged and shown to the world as everyone wanted?
This show was gold transmuted into shit at the very end. The missed opportunity of Angel confronting Dexter, ketamine replacing m99, Angela found out randomly the truth about dex, astor cody not even mentionned, hannah mentionned 5 minutes, there is so much to say about the bad writing of this show. What a wasted ending.
My only real problem with the ending was that we never got a payoff on the Angel scene. That, to me, is the biggest flaw of this ending. I am glad that Resurrection has been announced because I’m hoping that that can be rectified now.
Only two options for Dexter
Death by the hands of a loved one, Harrison
Prison by the hands of the Miami Metro, Batista
Or Dex himself, by turning himself in...
No one else has earned the right to do either except for the three above. Batista has been around since day one, Dexter/Deb's best friend, sister was Harrison's nanny. He knows Dexter, they have a history. Harrison is his son.. and the sins of the father are atoned by the son. It makes perfect sense Harrison would be the one to kill him.. Something Deb wasn't able to bring herself to do...
There is no love story or romantic ending for a character like Dexter.. Why so many look at him with rose colored glasses trips me out.. He is a serial killer... He likes to kill and the code is his excuse.. He likes the ritual, the hunt, the fear it causes his victims. The same speech he gave to Kurt, applied to him...
it was brilliant how they did it, i don't care what people are saying.
If you pay attention, its almost like it wasn't harrisson that shoot dexter. There is almost no recoil, and dexter sayed "you did good" but we don't see if he's actually talking to his son. Or maybe we don't have full pictures here and I don"t remember correctly.
Someone will disagree with what I am about to say but I don't particularly care; dexter kind of was the good guy( in the beginning) and the writers should have kept him that way concerning how he stuck to his father's code of going after bad people only; he could have ignored that and went after anyone he wanted at any time, he could have given in to the temptation of killing the security guard his brother had laid before him at the abandoned hospital or his sister at their childhood home but he chose to follow his father's rules despite his own issues with him because deep down he really didn't want to hurt innocent people and season after season was showing him striving to be a better person and was achieving that slowly especially with lumen in season 5 and brother sam in season 6, Hannah in season 7 Was the worst character ever thought of for her corruptive influence is what brought down Dexter's Integrity and ruined him from being the lovable and honorable character we all know from the books and earlier seasons,
the show's 2 endings was I feel very disappointing because they wrote it and his character all wrong for he wouldn't have given in to his grief over the loss of his sister to where he would abandon his own son, sure he would be at his lowest for a minute but he would pull himself together and remember the promise he made to deb of how he would always be there for harrison no matter what and you can't sit there and convince me that a small town sheriff like his girlfriend angela would be able to bust a notorious killer like Dexter based on circumstantial evidence not to mention the tranquilizer formula is not the same; he never used kenimine on his targets he used M99,
The writers should have continued adapting his story from the novels for they had tons of potential of doing and successfully pulling off a reverse breaking bad and the blacklist with the character, turning him into his very own sophisticated concierge of crime fighting with a vast network of resources at his disposal to help him hunt those that escape justice while keeping him 2 steps ahead of the people he works for in law enforcement who feels and views himself as the "the bad guy" that doesn't believe he can change but doesn't want to disappoint his father, his best friend angel, his wife, kids and sister by giving up trying with case after case and ultimate showdowns with the main antagonist of the season pushing him further and further down the path of being a honorable, righteous and semi-heroic individual with new blood being his swan song where he sacrifices himself to save his son, his son's girlfriend along with his own girlfriend from Kurt Caldwell, his son and the billionaire character they had in there that was serving as a red herring, have it where he had a connection to kurt and was involved somehow in covering up his secret of being the runaway killer and Dexter dying ending their threat once and for all thus earning his redemption which brings his story arc full circle with him ultimately breaking good,
As for doakes the most annoying thing about him was his hypocritical attitude towards dexter when he tried to get him in trouble for just doing his job as a blood spatter specialist after he in an act of revenge shot dead a former death squad operative who was unarmed and tried to cover it up with lies which put his partner angel batista in a very uncomfortable situation of possibly turning him in to be arrested by IA until he was given a pass by the government,
It should have been written and adapted according to the way it worked out in the books where they worked together to take down a cartel leader and doakes was severely maimed by the main antagonist dr danco to where he lost his legs and arms and tongue as a consequence for killing in cold blood that death squad operative who just so happened to be related to the villain, dexter tries to save him despite him knowing his secret but fails, he goes into a comma and dies later on in the 3rd season but Is revered as a hero cop and posthumously awarded a medal for risking his life to bring down dr danko who gets framed by Dexter as the Bay Harbor butcher,
the same scenario can be applied but altered to the character Maria Laguerta, have the consequences of her actions in season 2 befall her in season 7 by having esme come back for revenge on laguerta for ruining her career by using her secret connections to the criminal underworld to frame her and make her look as if she's losing her mind like what laguerta did to her by sleeping with her boyfriend and have it where Debra is the one that tries to save her but fails with season 8 being the final season that deals with the fallout of that event and Dexter being the loving caring brother that he's been towards her trying to help her overcome the grief of laguerta's death all while dealing with the reign of terror from the brain surgeon, I say all of that to say that joe from the show YOU doesn't hold a candle to dexter and that dexter would have that despicable man for breakfast, lunch and dinner to feed the very jackels he came from! 🔥😁😉👍
I loved New Blood and can't wait for season two!! ❤🔪
They're doing another season?
yo i think dexter died.
@@abominablesnowman3494they were gonna but cancelled it
Y’all bringing it back? 👀
What a stupid ending. He makes no sense.
Thanks for the comments. From the original, Dexter survived, Harrison is an innocent child who loves his Dad. Not the best ending but I'll end there.
I heard this was bad when it came out but only just saw it. For me, everything but the last episode was actually pretty good! But I think, like others, that the ending should have been open , with Dexter and Harrison living in the town together (especially if they are planning more shows like they are now).
It wasn't until after watching that podcast that Harrison remembered his mother's murder.
Two dumb endings to one of my favorite shows. Let’s hope Original Sin has a better one…
Original Sin is a prequel so there's *NO* way they can mess up that ending
Wasn't the best season but they really messed up the ending, such an random death. Years ago i heard about an ending theory that dexter would get arrested and sentenced to death by lethal injection, and then on his final moments he would see trinity, brian, rita, deb, laguerta, doakes, and many others key characters watching his execution. But i understand this rushed and messed up ending, michael c hall already made everyone understand that he hates Dexter and he just wanted to get it done as quickly as possible.
The first episode was kinda perfect, had crazy high expectations.
Then immediately it went downhill, every writing sin was committed and they assassinated Dexter's character.
This was terrible and a complete disgrace to the original. More so than the last two seasons of the OG.
This gonna be the channel reminding everyone they living rent free in the heads of the viewers for ruining the show😂
This comment section is why I'm happier not engaging with other fans.
Season 2 please with Harisson as the main character
Harrison doesn’t look strong enough to push those guys around. Looks can be deceiving though
The snitch is crazy
Onde assisto essa fase de Dexter?
Dexter then got up after being shot made a laboratory
I'm halfway through the recap, but discouraged from continuing based on your comments
The recap itself is fine but the actual show is lame for the ending
We never actually see that Rifle shooting Dexter? 🤔 so god knows how he survives for the next series
i thought this show was solid, one of the few i can consistently stick to through to the end.
This mess was so poorly written. I would have dropped out of college to help write. The fans deserved way better than this. I would have even helped with casting, because some of the characters were outstanding and some were...I guess whoever showed up that day to audition. Point being, this doesn't hold a candle to Dexter season 1. And you got Showtime and the others involved in this so happy with what they put out that that they continue making videos and trying to get more money. They haven't earned it. Sorry. I'm quite disgusted with New Blood.
His son messed up so much stuff for him
Dr dexter plz be alive 😢
Where can i see it from India
I think we all agree the ending wasn't but we expected (just another way to say it sucked ass, plus we didn't get to see Batista's reaction), but eps. 1-9 were solidly top noch.
The ending, just everything about this season? spin off? just never made any sense lmao
So wait? Now his son maybe the new Dexter??

Where can i watch this season?
Paramount Plus and/or order a DVD.
Why? Why now this recap
Hopefully season 2 announcement soon.
Like, do you really want a season 2? They gave me hope with the spinoff and in my opinion didnt live up to the expectations and now theyre gonna do it again and probably fuck up something else. I thought the ending of the original Dexter was as bad as it gets. I was wrong. This was way worse.
Doesn’t matter. The show was all kinds of bad writing after they killed off Rita.
why is Dexter o broken I thought he enjoys death and killing and has no feelings for other people and didn´give a shit about them?
More like showrunner didn't give a shit about the show
If they want to continue the show, a grown Harrison will be the new phyco
im so happy i didnt watch this and just figured out there is new series of dexter what kind end is this lol tf
It was a good show but not great like the original dexter. honestly I didn't care for harrison THAT much* and the end obviously was trash. the girl cop was good but nowhere near what deb was. kurt was fantastic* that guy is just a great actor. I'd say overall 7/10
