They actually had a really intriguing relationship after she find out who Dexter Morgan was (not that he's a serial killer, just a blood spatter analyst who pretended to be dead) and they managed to completely squander that instead of creating a fleshed out dynamic over a few seasons

@LifeOfRy oh I know the answer I've already watched it 3 times 😂
should have just made both of them the killers
He was supposed to be a red herring where everyone was expecting to think he was the killer since Kurt seemed like a genuinely decent guy until he happened upon that runaway at his diner and the cycle began anew. I don't think it was well executed since the promotional material ahead of New Blood already made clear that Clancy Brown was playing the villain.
Wish their rivalry had a more climactic showdown
That was honestly my only problem with Kurt. An amazing villain who had the setup for the best final showdown between Dexter and a killer, and instead, he goes out quickly and underwhelmingly like every other Dexter villain. He at least has the last laugh but if they actually went through with that fight, it would've been incredible and a way better way to take a villain down than the same "sneak up and M99 injection" technique.
It’s a problem with a lot of the show. I enjoyed Dexter (besides the endings) but the pacing was always off like Doakes leaving the show early on.
@@TheFivegoodemperors Not to mention how insanely unsatisfying Doakes' takedown was. He was special forces and was somehow careless enough to not only get within grabbing range but put up no fight afterwards? It's sad that the closest things to actual confrontations Dexter has with the villains is his lame fight with the Skinner and wrestling on the ground for a few seconds with Travis.
Dexter definitely could've used some more fights and direct confrontations, dexter when hes momentarily caught and himself is amazing
@@vicwaters87 yes Doakes demise was ridiculously written, lil Chino, a complete one off side character, put up more of a fight than him

The writers missed an opportunity. As Dexter stabs Kurt, he should have said:
"There can be only one!"
The tension and interactions were pretty good until that ending.
What a shitty end, could be the Best o one of the Best season of Dexter.
But, with that end 😂
Dexter was so rusty and underestimated Kurt so much in this show. He should of recognized the darkness in Kurt and be way more careful around him.

My brain is confused about which context to use in this scene. Rape? New cellmate?
That’s Clancy Brown! Legend
Dispite the series terrible ending I really enjoyed the Dexter vs Kurt narrative.
Kurt is easily one of the best villains this series has ever had. Right up there with Ice Truck Killer, Trinity and Doakes, if just not quite as iconic as they are. He's one of the few villains I would just call pure evil. Even those final moments on Dexter's table, he's exactly the same guy as he is all series long, showing just how little he regards any human life. Not to mention the cruelty of his plan with "H," showing him nothing but kindness before a brutal death. Kurt may have gone down in an unsatisfying way after that really awesome setup for an excellent final showdown, but at least he had the last laugh, and I can't think of a better villain to have it than him.
Miguel Prado!
Doakes wasn't a villian
I’ve only watched the first 2.5 minutes, he seems pretty nice!
@@matthewthomas9194 Doakes wasn't evil but he was still an antagonist since he was the main foil for Dexter driving season 2 with Lila as a kind of secondary, more conventional antagonist, since unlike Doakes, she actually was evil.

It was by far the best season since 1-4 though, until the rushed ending.
Yes the ending of New Blood was very awkward especially with the new Resurrection series announced. They're going to need to explain how Dexter ended up surviving. But overall, New Blood was amazing
It became very obvious that they were going to fuck the ending up. As it got close to the end, with a couple of episodes left, I am thinking how can this end properly with so little time left. They just rushed it & took the gloss off an otherwise great season 9.
@@robertf1309 Is Dexter coming back again, so they can fuck the ending up a third time?
Love how people call them villains... As if Dexter is a hero...
I mean he's not the typical good guy hero but he kills people worse than him preventing infinitely more innocent people saving infinitely more people who would otherwise have become victims to said individuals. did kurt really think that they wouldn't hear the fucking spraying of gas all over their house?
It's the dead of night and presumably, he thought they were sound asleep. He didn't spray the entire house. Just the front of it and the walkway, so the fire would lure them out.
@@vicwaters87 Idk man the sound of that would easily wake me up. XD
I couldn't believe how dumb that was.
They confirmed it was a comedic scene by how Kurt said “merry Christmas… Jimbo”. His tone was so sarcastic and as the viewer hearing Kurt believe dexters name is Jimbo is funny . Seeing the scene for the first time I knew they weren’t in the cabin. And having Kurt double fooled thinking his name is Jimbo and being sarcastic to him with that tone was hilarious . They know Kurt is a serial killer who means to kill them, and they’re just going to go to sleep? Are there no windows in the back of the cabin? Did Kurt have hunting cameras set up all around? And would Jimbo not have had his own guns? Kurt didn’t know they weren’t there so why would he know they don’t have snipers? The scene was a 4th wall breaker for sure.
my line manager asked us all in a work meeting if we could remember what we were doing when we were ten years old, and my other boss who is in his late 60's now but was a farm hand for his family farm as a lad , said that one of his jobs was to go out to the barn yard and catch stray cats, male tom cats and castrate them, he said the most efficient way was to stuff their head in a welly boot (gum boot) lift the tail, and remove the tackle , every one was slightly concerned but he insisted it was a generational gap issue..... and that we just didn't understand why he enjoyed it because of the divide between different era's

Because look at what happened to Rita and Deb. No one who gets close to Dex gets a happy ending.
So he leaves him to a total stranger that poisons people?
It’s called bad writing.
@@Lamellae-d1vShe wasn’t a stranger when he left Harrison, and he trusted that she wouldn’t harm Harrison or let him be harmed. He was right, he just didn’t anticipate her dying while Harrison was still a minor.
This season was amazing until the last 2 episodes when it was rushes to wrap up the series.
Agreed
Yep
I think the point to the Caldwell character was to show the audience that Dexter is no different. Dexter even says this to Deb. "Kurt is nothing like me". Only to find out he was a serial killer too. The only difference is we know Dexter and like him... Yet the show makes it a point to show them and how similar they are in their desire to kill.
Kurt -
1. Had a son who's relationship was strained and in the end was a disappointment to him. He lied on him to protect his own secret.
2. Lied about Matt's whereabouts to cover his tracks.
3. Had a ritual in which he captured and preserved his trophies/kills.
4. Became extremely angry when his kill/ritual was disrupted. (Girl he shot in the eye)
5. Was friendly, the whole town knew him and was such a nice guy.
6. Had a code - Protect women from the dangers of the outside world.
7. Thought of himself as a hero.
8. In the end didn't care about protecting the women.. Only the hunt, capture, kill, to feed the darkness inside.
Dexter -
1. Had a son he abandon, who's relationship was strained. Was going to abandon him again, to protect himself.
2. Shut down at any conversation with Harrison about why he left. Was too busy covering his tracks of killing Matt.
3. Had a ritual in which he captured, killed his victims collecting trophies. (The plastic kill room and blood slides)
4. Became extremely angry when his kill/ritual was disrupted. (Drug dealer/Logan coming to the house)
5. Was friendly & brought donuts to co-workers, the whole town knew him and was such a nice guy. So helpful.
6. Had a code - Don't get caught. Only kill those that slip through the justice system.
7. Thought of himself as a hero ( Dark Defender)
8. In the end didn't care about protecting the innocent from the Kurt's of the world. Only the hunt, capture, kill, to feed the darkness passenger.
Through out the entire show.. Dexter and Kurt mirrored one another... Dexter talks about how much he wants to take care of and raise Harrison... Yet, when faced with actually bonding with Harrison, he left to kill people or try and cover his own tracks (Just like Kurt did with Matt). The only time Dexter really tried with Harrison, is when he thought his dark passenger was the same as his... He was teaching Harrison how to kill and get away with it, so they could be a "team". To the point, Kurt even say's " I wish my son was more like H here". He was so excited to have Harrison be just like him. Even said it "You're just like me buddy".
No Dexter, Harrison still has time to seek real therapy.. He didn't understand where all his anger was coming from. Until he got the full picture to who his father was... Now with that knowledge he can work through it... By the time Dexter had remembered all of what happened to him as a child, it was too late.. Harry's Code didn't help the situation.. but... it did however prevent Dexter from killing the innocent. Until it didn't... like with Logan... the first rule is "Don't get caught".
I can't wait to see Dexter be the villain in his own story come Dexter: Resurrected... He is shedding Jim Lindsay and full on Resurrecting Dexter Morgan... No more Mr. Nice Guy... which was a song Dexter was playing when he was being pulled over by Angela (who was a replica of Deb)
I only watched a couple episodes of this show but in a way Dexter is a type of God. He kills people who are evil and enjoys it. So he’s not evil himself in my opinion. Killing evil out is something we’re all scared to do.
Harris should have grown up to be a cop or detective. It would have made the series more interesting.
Harrison wasn't ready for what Dexter was doing
I hope the new shows have more soundtrack influence than New Blood did
They really messed up this series again, no showdown with Batista , and then they killed are hero! No more Dexter Morgan, I was devastated!! 😢 oh well ! Someone has to carry his legacy on…;)
Dexter isn't a hero. That's the whole point. He's in this quaint down because he destroyed the lives of everyone he cared about, including Harrison. Him killing Logan was the last straw to finally getting the comeuppance he's deserved for a very long time.
Should’ve been 2 seasons
@@JohnWall-lj1mx the first 4 with a 5th were he would've been on the run would've been perfect
Well guess what he is back "dexter resurrection"
Peak show till the last episode
I don't get why everyone is down on the finale. The biggest problem with the way the series ended is that Dexter never faced the consequences of his actions and kept not having to make the tough, moral decisions. He killed a good man in that final episode for the sake of his code and paid the consequences for it. The whole point of this final season was to illustrate that Dexter wasn't really a good person nor a hero. Yes, he killed bad guys, but we saw time and time again, when truly good people got in his way, he wouldn't hesitate to take them out. He got both Doakes and LaGuerta killed to avoid getting caught. He killed two innocent men across his journey and never faced the consequences for it. And in being who he is, he got Rita and Deb killed, orphaned his step children, and destroyed Harrison's life.
Killing Logan, a truly good and kind man whose death was a result of his kindness towards Dex, so bluntly and cruelly, was the final straw. Dexter was no different than the killers he hunted. For the most part, he could direct his bloodlust at the right people, but any who stood in his way wouldn't last, and Harrison wasn't about to have that. Especially not after what his life was reduced to because of Dex.
Isn’t that every show? Nobody wants it to end, but it has to at some time. I thought the ending was poetic in a way. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
@@vicwaters87 For me it was the slow build only to jump to the finish line in the last two episodes. It totally ruined the pacing for me and it felt super underwhelming overall.
@@CarsonsChannel exactly same for me except I liked episode 9 just 10 felt rushed when there was so much to work with
@@vicwaters87 Rule number 1 : don't get caught so laguerta i can understand, he had litteraly no choice. Logan i agree it was stupid because it was over for dexter, he should have leave without killing him
Would've been a better season if they had shown more of Batista and the OGs from Miami. Also, Dexter's end was disappointing, he killed an innocent cop like he never did before just so he escapes justice. I find it kinda out of character. Remember, when the not so innocent Doakes found out about him, he was ready to turn himself in instead of killing him.
I always pictured Dexter's end after a trial resulting in a death penalty. And during his execusion, he is placed in the electric chair and right in front of him his imagination portraying all the innocent people who died because of him (Debrah, Harry, Rita...), and his voice narrating poetic stuff as in the end of every season.
Rushed writing.
I feel like they run out of money, lol.

OMG YES Kurt Caldwell might be one of my favorate characters. His voice is so familiar to me since I used to play so much Detroit Become Human.
Also how unrealistic was it that Kurt had so many of those booths to store the women in perfectly lol. Even if he made them, there were just so many it was absurd
look up the 'Body Worlds' exhibition. Kurt had the time and money and space to do whatever he wanted.
Well his killing started when he was a young guy. Probably in his early 20s he’s probably in his 60s maybe 70s now. So he’s been doing it for as long as Aurthor Mitchell.
Kurt's been doing this for decades and explicitly targeted runaways. With his power and influence, there's a reason he got away for as long as he did. Plus, we saw with his lackey that at least one of his employees was in on the schemes with him, so he wasn't operating completely alone either.

Kurt was definitely the best villain in the dexter universe for sure. He was like the trinity killer and doomsday killer had an old baby together
Serial killers like Kurt are truly disturbing. I mean he actually believes he was doing the right thing for these girls by "keeping them safe". Not necessarily one of Dexter's best opponents but definitely one of his more interesting ones.
Isn't this the guy that voices Hank Andersen from Detroit become human and mr Krabs?
Someone will disagree with what I am about to say but I don't particularly care; dexter kind of was the good guy( in the beginning) and the writers should have kept him that way concerning how he stuck to his father's code of going after bad people only; he could have ignored that and went after anyone he wanted at any time, he could have given in to the temptation of killing the security guard his brother had laid before him at the abandoned hospital or his sister at their childhood home but he chose to follow his father's rules despite his own issues with him because deep down he really didn't want to hurt innocent people and season after season was showing him striving to be a better person and was achieving that slowly especially with lumen in season 5 and brother sam in season 6, Hannah in season 7 Was the worst character ever thought of for her corruptive influence is what brought down Dexter's Integrity and ruined him from being the lovable and honorable character we all know from the books and earlier seasons,
the show's 2 endings was I feel very disappointing because they wrote it and his character all wrong for he wouldn't have given in to his grief over the loss of his sister to where he would abandon his own son, sure he would be at his lowest for a minute but he would pull himself together and remember the promise he made to deb of how he would always be there for harrison no matter what and you can't sit there and convince me that a small town sheriff like his girlfriend angela would be able to bust a notorious killer like Dexter based on circumstantial evidence not to mention the tranquilizer formula is not the same; he never used kenimine on his targets he used M99,
The writers should have continued adapting his story from the novels for they had tons of potential of doing and successfully pulling off a reverse breaking bad and the blacklist with the character, turning him into his very own sophisticated concierge of crime fighting with a vast network of resources at his disposal to help him hunt those that escape justice while keeping him 2 steps ahead of the people he works for in law enforcement who feels and views himself as the "the bad guy" that doesn't believe he can change but doesn't want to disappoint his father, his best friend angel, his wife, kids and sister by giving up trying with case after case and ultimate showdowns with the main antagonist of the season pushing him further and further down the path of being a honorable, righteous and semi-heroic individual with new blood being his swan song where he sacrifices himself to save his son, his son's girlfriend along with his own girlfriend from Kurt Caldwell, his son and the billionaire character they had in there that was serving as a red herring, have it where he had a connection to kurt and was involved somehow in covering up his secret of being the runaway killer and Dexter dying ending their threat once and for all thus earning his redemption which brings his story arc full circle with him ultimately breaking good,
As for doakes the most annoying thing about him was his hypocritical attitude towards dexter when he tried to get him in trouble for just doing his job as a blood spatter specialist after he in an act of revenge shot dead a former death squad operative who was unarmed and tried to cover it up with lies which put his partner angel batista in a very uncomfortable situation of possibly turning him in to be arrested by IA until he was given a pass by the government,
It should have been written and adapted according to the way it worked out in the books where they worked together to take down a cartel leader and doakes was severely maimed by the main antagonist dr danco to where he lost his legs and arms and tongue as a consequence for killing in cold blood that death squad operative who just so happened to be related to the villain, dexter tries to save him despite him knowing his secret but fails, he goes into a comma and dies later on in the 3rd season but Is revered as a hero cop and posthumously awarded a medal for risking his life to bring down dr danko who gets framed by Dexter as the Bay Harbor butcher,
the same scenario can be applied but altered to the character Maria Laguerta, have the consequences of her actions in season 2 befall her in season 7 by having esme come back for revenge on laguerta for ruining her career by using her secret connections to the criminal underworld to frame her and make her look as if she's losing her mind like what laguerta did to her by sleeping with her boyfriend and have it where Debra is the one that tries to save her but fails with season 8 being the final season that deals with the fallout of that event and Dexter being the loving caring brother that he's been towards her trying to help her overcome the grief of laguerta's death all while dealing with the reign of terror from the brain surgeon, I say all of that to say that joe from the show YOU doesn't hold a candle to dexter and that dexter would have that despicable man for breakfast, lunch and dinner to feed the very jackels he came from! 🔥😁😉👍
