Though the ending was less than satisfactory, I still enjoyed the show, I just wish they didn’t catch him in literally 4 episodes, especially when they didn’t catch him in the entire original show.
Within presumably a couple of weeks, 1 cop in the middle of nowhere in New York was able to do what Miami metro couldn't in nearly a decade. They dropped the ball so hard

Not the best ending for the show in my opinion, but your recaps don’t disappoint.
Way better than the original ending though and now they have opportunities for his son to have psychotic episodes talking to a dead Dexter whenever they decide to dive into this mess again.
Having not 1 but 2 bad endings is REALLY impressive.

Up until episode 10, this series was very, very good. Minor nitpicks but nothing major. Episode 10 on the other hand...
What was wrong with the finale? I thought it was great. People saying it was worse than the original finale (and even then I appreciated the place Dexter ended up in in terms of his self-imposed exile, but there's no denying MUCH was unresolved) blow my mind.
I wasn't expecting excellence in the finale but something resembling closure. This season, on the whole, made up for the original finale and I think we can all put Dexter to rest. I hope.
@@neonoir77 I think too many people just hated Dex dying. He was always gonna die, Clyde Phillips’ plan for the OG series finale was him getting executed but, Clyde left the show after S4 ofc, and SHOWTIME didn’t wanna kill Dexter off. My problem with the finale is Dexter who was smart enough to be top of his class in med school, until he just dropped out, slipped up that much in the finale, many of his mess-ups earlier can be accredited to rustiness or emotion. But, him not being ahead of the police was stupid. He was ahead of the police in the OG series for 8 seasons, and even in the shitty seasons he was always calculating and cunning, yet the guy just loses all intelligence and instead of waiting for the situation to disappear as the evidence was the flimsiest evidence ever plus, even Batista didn’t have the best evidence(which was LaGuerta’s). Them making Dexter Morgan a fucking serial killer genius in the original series, who according Michael C. Hall throughout Dexter’s serial killer career had close to 200 victims, didn’t have restraint and was stupid as fuck when it came to actually having some very flimsy evidence.
@@Unti1tmrw I think the evidence was conclusive enough to build a case against him while simultaneously Dexter's slip-ups can be attributed to, as you said, his rustiness and the fantasies he'd developed of escaping with his son and being a serial killer team. His head wasn't in the game in the way that it once was, which was something he himself said throughout the season ("Too many fucking tuna sandwiches"). But I know what you mean in the sense that it wasn't a perfect season and there were some inconsistencies here and there, and while I understand why the timing of the episode didn't allow for this I would have liked to see a final confrontation with Batista. That said, I thought the season was great overall and MILES beyond the previous season in terms of quality, and even the best Dexter seasons have had mild things you can nitpick here and there.
@Abood. He was a head of the police in the os because he worked for the police and had more access. With New Blood he doesn't have the same access and resources.

Even Dexter says in New Blood ketamine is not his usual way (true, because he did not use ketamine in previous seasons) - here you go, major inconsitency. There was no proof for body dismemberment, which Angela points out as something linking Dexter to BHB - again, inconsitancy. Angela was getting her evidence illigally - as pointed out at least once in New Blood, DA was not having her shit. In previous seasons no one believed LaGuerta - even Matthews dropped out of her quest, tho he had nothing to lose politically, only gain. I believe Dexter would kill Logan if he felt he has no other way out, but nothing made me believe Dexter had a reason to break out of jail, beacuse he should not be the in the first place.
I like the concept of Dexter being killed at the end, but the build up for this was just inconsistent and felt rushed, forced... very GoT-ish.
And what, Dexter faked his death and that should make him fear he is going to be linked instantly to BHB? Come on, there are so many ways he could lie his ass off.
@@travisgray8376 I really feel like Dexter deserved to die (or get death penalty) because of his crimes or at least get a trial, but this enging did not made me feel it as justified, just because wirters made him kill Logan for no reason. Even some small details undermined it, like showing how Dexter gets revenge on child abuser/killer and Harrison saying Dex saved a lot of lives. IMO the show did not did a good job of showing that Dexter finally lost himself to addiction (of killing) and have to be put to rest.

I like the show and it is the best season of Dexter in a long long time.....but episode 9 should have been when Harrison realized Dexter was a monster. They tried to tie everything in literally 15 minutes when it could have been a whole episode.

Would having more episodes have been so wrong? Why give viewers bits and pieces of plot lines that were never going to go anywhere? Waiting all these years for Dexter to come back only to be disappointed again.

This season was great until the end. They had no real proof he was the BHB. Dexter was careless for no reason.
Right could have been a copy cat or hell anyone could use ketamine. The careless part makes sense he has been out for 10 years

Still, the whole thing with angela suspecting him cuz of the needle marks is dumb since most of the bodies recovered from bhb were so badly decomposed snd damaged you definitely couldnt say the needle was a recurring theme, which it really wasnt dexter sometimes used a chokehold.

But they fact that he faked his death and lived under a pseudonym would give him a ton of police scrutiny. And eventually the Feds would have put it together while he was in custody.
Should’ve been given a season 2 with Dexter and Harrison on the run with batista/dexters gf starting a manhunt on TV and as the season progresses Harrison starts to see more and more of Dexter’s true colours until he eventually decides it’s time to either turn themselves in or die before they can hurt anyone else
The show is not as bad as people say. Up to the ending, there’s hardly anything to criticize other than Jack Alcott. If you’ve watched Dexter, I hard recommend to watch new blood.

The last episode of New Blood is the worst rated episode in Dexter history, the irony than that they brought back the show to fix the lumberjack ending, but they made it worse, in hindsight this whole season, especially Harrison sucked!
Writers have complete contempt for the audience. They are sloppy and careless, but blame the fans for being "picky" or "nostalgic". A reboot is nothing more than Hollywood beating a dead horse for quick cash. I say we boycott all reboots and "continuations" until they STOP
Harrison went on to go somewhere hot to become a lumberj- I mean hunting knife seller, and started dating a native version of Audrey AKA his almost-step sister.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but goddamn it Harrison annoy the hell out of me consistently the whole show. He shows up and gets kicked out, then gets invited back and acts like a passive aggressive little shit the whole time. Dexter tries to interact and bond with him, he gets pissed. He tries to give him space, he gets pissed. Then at the end he's both pissed that Dexter left him while ALSO being pissed that Dexter made him not "normal" which is literally the reason he left him in the first place. Make up your fucking mind kid.

i personally liked the ending , it gave closure. and he realized no matter what he did from there he would always be on the run, and he could never live a normal life.

The most likely answer is Dexter being what Harry was to him, but to Harrison. I'm not saying it will work but they cannot do this without Michael C Hall imho.

I don’t know how the producers managed to make a finale that sucked ass, decided to then make a new show a decade and a half later to fill up the loose ends, then make an ending thats worst then the first one. Its incredible.
Episode 10 needs to be a dream sequence. It's been done but I will overlook it so that we can move on to season 2.

I stopped watching after that, and decided recaps were the way to go, so i know how bad the show fell off. FOr my sanity rita didn't die, trinity was killed before he killed her, deb found the 2nd love of her life after lundy. rita and dexter died of old age. he overcame his dark pasanger, batista and laguerta had a good marriage, masuka found a wife as kinky as him. fuck it quin and debra got married. Dexter h ad a happy life with rita, end of story.
And he kept on killing pedophiles
Be Hollywood -> take famous IP -> renew it -> destroy the main character to push new characters -> produce 1-2 seasons of a new bad show -> cancel new show -> former good IP is destroyed -> search for new IP which people used to love

I never watched this show but after watching your recap of the original series and how he got away with everything for him to be caught by a small town cop getting EXTREMELY lucky is just so lazy and cheap.
Not sure how they ruined a finale twice!! The worst part of this show is that Angela figures out that Dexter is the killer when 8 seasons worth of episodes and no one could close in on Dexter. They basically wasted two or three seasons worth of material.

I thought the ending was super powerful with Harrison shooting Dexter, it’s just a shame it wasn’t properly set up, way too rushed. Probably could have done two or three seasons with that being the ending. Oh well, I’ll let my mind fill in the blanks and ignore the clumsy plot contrivances that break all aspects of the character to get there. Dexter never would have killed that cop, he knows how to choke hold without killing, he’s done it before.
He killed him because Logan pulled the gun and tried to shoot him. And that police chief is so corrupt. “Gotta uphold the law for one guy but see a kid shoot his dad, nah that’s cool here’s $20 I’ll cover up your murder

Actually i was pleased how og Dexter ended. He was poisonous to all of his friends and family, and only way to end that is to run away from them. Dexter new blood have for me not so satisfying ending but, again, its the only way to stop dexter. After all we can have now new series with Harrison as main antagonist and Dexter as his ghost. Overall I am pleased with both endings, only mistake was not filming one more episode where Dexter and Batista talk and where podcast girl dies.
4:10 Advice about the pill thing. First, just don't take pills kids. Molly and X are not the same as they used to be, I have had three friends die from laced pills with fentanyl. Just don't do it. But, if someone is ever like this, you need to get them breathing again and get them onto their side so they don't inhale vomit. Overdosing is one thing but watching your friend choke on their own puke is traumatizing.

She let Harrison go as a favor because dexter did help her solve the unsolved cases with the missing women , even though he used it to distract her. I doubt she wanted Harrison arrested.

Lots of people have already said it, but I can’t help saying it again. How did she manage to solve the case which had been unsolved for years? It just makes the whole original story pointless, like everything and everyone was stupid and blind because eventually it took one person without prominent skills to do the job. They coulda written a more compelling story or filmed more seasons. Furthermore, why did Dexter decide to kill a random rich dude? It was obviously an extremely bad decision under the circumstances. They say he was depressed and stuff, but the original show stated he had no empathy and emotions whatsoever. And although I enjoyed the first episodes of the new blood, the second half when she realized he was him made me feel sick. It might’ve been better if they’d let him go in the end.

A very rushed, sloppy and poorly written show. After all these years, the fans truly deserved better.
Writers have utter contempt for the audience. They think we're stupid and whiny, when all we want is continuity. Reboots are nothing more than a cash grab for talentless people to destroy a legacy.

the finale was painful to watch. i'd say for me it was way worse than the original series finale. while i do understand that also in real life one event can snowball and cause collateral, the way all the pieces fell into place for the police to discover he is the BHB was so far fetched. not to mention that it's so dumb to accuse someone of murder because you received an envelope with a tip and some screws. then you find another screw in the remains of a burned down house and assume what? that the killer took one of them after burning the body and left the rest to be found by someone else or that he took it out of the victim when he chopped him up and forgot the rest? how does that even make sense? wouldn't it be more plausible that someone planted a single screw?
although i really enjoyed the season as a whole it's still disappointing to have it end like that.
Yeah it really made not enjoy the police chief character toward the end. She couldn’t find the skin on the tooth, but she can see tiny holes on necks. Kinda cliche and dumb.

the actor that played Harrison was such a disappointment for me. he was overplaying the roles and he's reactions. plus he's face was gross when he was eating.....I'm unfortunately not looking forward for the spinoff if the actor plays Harrison again

worst ending ever, who ever wrote that ending should be fired, and pimp slap a few times, he killed that guard in self defence i believe so it was just or accident. ok now his son gotta turn himself in cause he killed his dad, where is his code. and what kind of crooked cop gives a killer 20 dollars and tell them to go wtf. really i could of came up with 1000 better endings than this , it was so unsatisfying he got killed by his own son, that didnt even know the whole story

Tbh Dexter reminds me of Light Yagami cuz they both started out killing bad guys but when their murders were investigated, ended up killing good people who got in their way. Only Light was a lil bit better strategically. Tho Dexter was a better person and like not an asshole so......yeah I don't know what my point was here....
