Season 4 was such a strong season, man. Dexter at it's best is amazing. To think that the first time he exhibited hubris about killing someone, it cost him everything.
While nowhere near Lithgow, I really enjoyed that Self Improvement guru and his douchebag minions, plus Lumen was a super fun callback to gritty I Spit on Your Grave/Ms 45/Hooker's Revenge type movies of the 70s and 80s, only with depth and characterization.
Yup his fixation on Trinity is what got Rita killed. He should have let him kill himself. His dark passenger had such a psychological hold on him. The worst part is poor Harrison witnessed the whole thing. That is all Dexter's fault.
He wanted to understand himself better. He thought he could see it in other killers! But, studying and playing with trinity did get Rita killed. It always seemed more about the planning and choices for Dexter. Not the killing. I’m just on season 5. So I have a ways to go.
The single most devastating moment in the series. Never ever ever saw it coming. Just knowing Trinity told her all about Dexter and then killed her in the bathtub. Man. Horrific.

Out of all of the antagonists in Dexter Trinity freaked me out the most. He's able to portray a regular guy but when that persona leaves he is terrifically psychotic. Especially how he kills Rita and doesn't even mention it to Dexter while he was on the table. Cold and spooky guy

The BEST Dexter villain! The Joker to Dexter's Batman! :). Trinity is chaotic but also methodical like The Joker. And Dexter is orderly and controlled until he meets Trinity then his whole world turns upside down just like with Batman and The Joker.
I used to watch 3rd Rock from the Sun when I was a kid… That was the first time I saw John Lithgow in anything, so I’ve always associated him with his character (Dick Solomon) from that show. Needless to say, when he showed up on Dexter as Trinity, all I could think was that is definitely not the Dick Solomon I remember. 😛 phenomenal actor.
