Due to some changes in updates, this method has slightly been nerfed. *NOTE:* To complete The Cache Pin Glitch, be sure to have space available in your Inventory (3 Empty slots should be fine) and make sure you also have the resources needed for both items you use to build the Cached Item.
I have a tip for anyone else who was watching this to learn how to place exocraft pads on your freighter. The minotaur geobay will end up in the correct orientation... because it's normally backwards, go figure. For everything else, they'll default to facing into your freighter instead of out. To fix this, instead of copying an empty platform and cachepinning an exocraft pad, copy a set of exterior stairs with the low side facing the edge of your freighter. (This means you will have to build an empty platform in front of your exocraft pads so the stairs can attach to something). Now cachepin your pad in place of the green stated stairs and everything will be facing the correct direction. Even works for the Nautilon, (which you have to get out and roll off the freighter to launch). Enjoy your titanfalls!
I was wondering how you did this when you were freighter building and making landing pads. Thanks so much Beeblebum, for showing how to do this great trick to mix all of our parts into all of our builds.
@Beeblebum Thank you so much, I just had a lot of fun building a nip nip farm in a cave system with freighter rooms (domes are ugly and don't make sense underground). I even figured out how to spawn the specialists in freighter rooms planetside. If you place the planet building of the specialist anywhere within the same base, the same specialist in the freighter building will spawn as well. So you can have multiple ones per base :)
Thank you for this. It ended up being much easier to do than I anticipated. I installed a freighter teleporter at one of my bases tonight and oddly enough, I can't get the "powered on" animation to appear even though it does work. It dosn't require any external power either, which I guess is a trade off then.

But everyone do keep in mind there will be a chance where when you select the Blueprint again from the catalogue it will end up auto completing the pin even though you haven't placed it i had this happen to me a few times. Also it is possible to put regular wires on your freighter you have to do reverse wire glitch to get it to work (Works even when red stated) and when you get the desired length of wire simply switch back to the building part and do the reverse wire glitch again and boom there you have it you now have a wire that you can use to do the glitch with.
On PS4 this Cashepin doesn't work on the freighter. Once you have tried to place the part it gives you an 'outside base range' message. The same applies to the wire placement, the original reason I came here. I was looking for a way to power the light-boxes and light-floors on the Freighter. in this glitch of making part of the freighter in the normal world I have a doubt when STAIRS FREIGHTER how can I create top part in the ladder do you have any idea how I can attach this.
Hello Beeblebum! I'm having a bit of a problem with this glitch... Everything has worked so far, but after completing it once, I can no longer pin instructions at all, despite meeting ALL criteria. Any idea what the problem could be?
I forgot which update, but since then, the cache pin glitch has been nerfed a tad. Here are some fixes I found helped to make it work: 1) Be sure to have free space in your Inventory (3-4 free slots should be enough). 2) Make sure you have the resources in your inventory that is needed to build both. Also, could you let me know, if that did not help - what game mode you are playing on?
@@Beeblebum I met those requirements, however it still didn't really work. I ended up finding a work around, though: It will mark the completed freighter base part as complete every time you finish building one, and there is a chance that it will stay "completed" no matter how many times its pinned. A workaround I found was to pin and complete instructions of a cheap base part after this occurs, (e.g. a wooden wall), then pinning freighter base part instructions would work again. To answer your question, I am playing on a Normal survival mode save
I need to double check again, but I have not heard any other regular builder report issues with it. Make sure of 2 things when doing this: 1) Have the resources in your inventory that you need to build the glitched part 2) Be sure to have at least 1 empty spot in your inventory.
Anyone know how to delete a bulkhead door that isn't attached to a freighter room planetside? The game isn't treating it as an object, and it's interfering with power supply to surrounding powered elements.
When i try to get the door on it glitches the door on but not connected to the room and just the animated doors no other parts, what could i be doing wrong ? the doors can't even be deleted after i try to glitch them in so i have about 15 random freighter doors scattered around the place lol
Hey there - I'm trying to place cube infrastructure on a freighter and following your instruction, but pressing square twice once cube is pinned sees me default to freighter corridor, even if pointing at blank space. Have you heard of this before and is there a work-around?
Hey Zaz, Not sure - Its been a while since I used the buttons.. If I recall correctly, you need to open the buildmenu first, then press Square to exit the menu. The second Square is to switch back to the Edit menu? (I am guessing here.. need to check again what the exact button combo's are). Be sure of 2 other things as well - Have space in your inventory, a full inventory will fail the glitch. And make sure you also have the resources in your inventory to build the parts.
hi beeblebum, i try to do it today but, no way (i'm on PC) Any freighter pieces I choose , I can just build the base computer, 2 days ago it was easy but now... impossible do you know if something changed ? thanks a lot
I beeblebum, very nice video, i wonder how to build freighters rooms with stairs and another level pls ? My problem is with the another level, rooms and stairs suit well but, the room in the level up, no... did U complete that kind of building thank U very much in advance
Hey Vincent, I assume you are talking about building the Freighter rooms on a planet and have a 2nd level? It is possible, but I have not made any guides about it.
The freighter rooms have the same dimensions in relation to cuboid rooms and such. SO if you build your freighter rooms from a scaffolding made out of cuboid rooms (or frames) you should be able to lift things up to a 2nd level. @@vincentrock8260
Has this been patched? Ive previously used this but now when I go to me catalog and guide and try to pin my part nothing happens. Tried it across multiple saves
I can't get it to work on PC when trying to place an alloy door on a freighter. I can get the door to show up red, save it to cache, then duplicte another object where I want it, but Q+left click only gets the wire no matter how fast I do it.
PC glitch building on K/M is a pain - and I applaud any glitch builder that manages to pull it off with them. A suggestion I could give you is to either change your keys to a custom setting - using an actual key on your keyboard to place a part, instead of the mouse click. But, the better solutions are Building with a controller or using a macro that does the timing for you. Before you go advanced with the Cachepin glitch - It might be good to practice the wire glitch first, as this seems to be the main glitch you are having trouble with.
@@Beeblebum I have a nostromo keypad, and I made a macro to do it with one button, but no matter the timings I tried the wire shows up instantly. If it requires input lag to work then this pc might be the issue. It's new and extremely fast. 0.10s all the way to no delay between inputs didn't work. I'll try a few more variations, and try changing keys, or moving it to a mouse macro instead. I appreciate your videos though, they're amazing. Oh, the only building mods I have are GSafe to make weather stay out of the large buildings I make. I did end up save editing the the alloy door I wanted. I don't know why the old building objects like metal, concrete, and wood show up in the freighter building tabs. It is an old save. Maybe that could be the problem.
I am assuming you might have a window or a door placed in the wrong place? There is a way to remove it, but you need to glitch a corridor or room against it. If you have any starting points or Rooms that are lined up, you should be able to do this - If not, then its very hard to line up anything with it. So you might have to delete your Basecomputer.
It doesn't work for me on PC. When I press the second time with the "C" edit button, I was presented with a base computer. I cannot proceed from @1:30. It is caching the base computer instead of the exterior platform.
Make sure you have the resources to actually build the part. Beebs mentioned this in this video, but was running into this problem after his earlier one until I realized I was missing like a single metal plate for the minotaur station.
I almost made it to the end (which was already only possible with programmable makros for me xD) and i managed to place my portal two times but sadly in the wrong direction... Now i have the problem that my pinned formula for the planetary teleporter keeps dissapearing because after pinning it the game immediately says that i already built it. I only want a damned straight teleporter on my freighter :(
@@Beeblebum I reset my freighter before starting and deleted any portal i placed (that i could see)... I also tried reloading and leaving the freighter but nothing has helped yet :/
@@Beeblebum After restarting the game the strange bug dissappears! After placing the portal and deleting it it reappears every time though... Thanks for your quick answer anyway now i gotta figure out a way to place my portal standing in the right direction :D
I have a question beebs; do you think Sean sees these techniques that aren't meant to be and clearly are a exploits, but he doesn't want to fix them because at the end of the day you and others use more as tools than anything else?. Do you think there will be a day that they'll be forced to fix those glitch construction exploits? I don't want to imagine that day if update 4.0 was a taste of community indignation.
@@ballsucker28 they kind of almost implement the replacement feature, but it only works with objects of the same kind, walls with walls, floors and so on. If they allowed freely to switch a part or a decoration with anything else it'll be a huge step tough
Ive got aroumd 1000hrs in NMS. Built many bases on multiple toons all across the galaxy. And I still have no idea how the cache system works. Put in cache/duplicate??? Say what???? My brain dont work no more.
The "Wire Cache" is just a reference to storing a buildable item where the Wire is. By pressing Both Wire Toggle & Item Toggle simultaneously the item in hand goes where the Wire was. (Wire Cache) This allows you to place a substitute item (the item in Wire Cache) instead of the item in hand. For instance: PLACE a re-sized item ie: Lantern (shrunk or enlarged) Now, take an item that cannot be resized ie: Bio-Dome but don't place it. Instead press Wire & Item Toggles simultaneously (Triangle & Square on PS) (it's easy) You should now have your normal selection reticle. Built items should highlight blue. If you see the Wire tip, just try again. Now, copy the resized item (lantern) but don't place it. (R1 on PS) Instead, Press Wire Toggle & Item Placement together (Triangle & R2 on PS) (timing takes a few minutes of practice) If done correctly, well... you'll see. If you Instead placed a Wire, just cancel (O on PS) and try again (No need to start over unless it's finicky - fails several times)
Wire Glitch & Reverse Wire Glitch Just means placing a Wire instead of the item in hand, or placing the item in hand instead of the Wire. These are used to place items where it would usually be either difficult, or literally impossible. They tend to get used in conjunction. You Wire Glitch to put a Wire Snap Point into a specific place, then use the reverse to place an item there. A ton of uses. Both are the same: Press Wire Toggle & Item Toggle simultaneously (Triangle & R2 on PS) Just either start with the item in hand, or Toggle to Wire first. Each places the opposite. Note: Wire Glitch requires a Snap point for other Wire end.
Tried it yesterday, still works for me. Be sure to have at least a few slots in your inventory that are empty. Also, be sure to have the resources to build both parts if you are not in creative.
@@Beeblebum ok thanks, I'll double check I think I was ok on those things, but I'm going to look next time I'm in game.. hopefully that's what the problem was

in this glitch of making part of the freighter in the normal world I have a doubt when STAIRS FREIGHTER how can I create top part in the ladder do you have any idea how I can attach this.
I have done some examples in my streams, but its gonna be hard to find these back... I need to sit down and make a guide on this.. lol
can we pin glitch tech lets say the singularity core from the expodition to a freighter in normal saves
You did say it's quicker and my gosh it is plus lots more yup yup, cheers Beebs
Hello Beeblebum! I'm having a bit of a problem with this glitch...
Everything has worked so far, but after completing it once, I can no longer pin instructions at all, despite meeting ALL criteria.
Any idea what the problem could be?
I forgot which update, but since then, the cache pin glitch has been nerfed a tad.
Here are some fixes I found helped to make it work:
1) Be sure to have free space in your Inventory (3-4 free slots should be enough).
2) Make sure you have the resources in your inventory that is needed to build both.
Also, could you let me know, if that did not help - what game mode you are playing on?
@@Beeblebum I met those requirements, however it still didn't really work. I ended up finding a work around, though:
It will mark the completed freighter base part as complete every time you finish building one, and there is a chance that it will stay "completed" no matter how many times its pinned. A workaround I found was to pin and complete instructions of a cheap base part after this occurs, (e.g. a wooden wall), then pinning freighter base part instructions would work again.
To answer your question, I am playing on a Normal survival mode save
@Beeblebum can you confirm if this is still working? I've used this glitch a lot in the past, but it didn't seem to work anymore. 😢
I need to double check again, but I have not heard any other regular builder report issues with it.
Make sure of 2 things when doing this:
1) Have the resources in your inventory that you need to build the glitched part
2) Be sure to have at least 1 empty spot in your inventory.
Anyone know how to delete a bulkhead door that isn't attached to a freighter room planetside? The game isn't treating it as an object, and it's interfering with power supply to surrounding powered elements.
What happened if you jump out of your freighter with minotaur since you can place one using this glitch
And make sure you also have the resources in your inventory to build the parts.
hi beeblebum, i try to do it today but, no way (i'm on PC) Any freighter pieces I choose , I can just build the base computer, 2 days ago it was easy but now... impossible
do you know if something changed ? thanks a lot
Be sure to have inventory space in your suit... Since Waypoint (I think) the cache-pin glitch no longer works with a full inventory.
thanX a lot !!!@@Beeblebum
I beeblebum, very nice video, i wonder how to build freighters rooms with stairs and another level pls ?
My problem is with the another level, rooms and stairs suit well but, the room in the level up, no... did U complete that kind of building
thank U very much in advance
Hey Vincent, I assume you are talking about building the Freighter rooms on a planet and have a 2nd level?
It is possible, but I have not made any guides about it.
oh thanks, i'll continue to try@@Beeblebum
The freighter rooms have the same dimensions in relation to cuboid rooms and such. SO if you build your freighter rooms from a scaffolding made out of cuboid rooms (or frames) you should be able to lift things up to a 2nd level. @@vincentrock8260
the were right! thankssss so much !@@Beeblebum
Has this been patched? Ive previously used this but now when I go to me catalog and guide and try to pin my part nothing happens. Tried it across multiple saves
Were you able to figure it out or it's been patched?
Same. I have the resources. Keeps giving me the base computer.
@@Korelie nope
i'm not able to pin the parts either (i came here cuz i encountered the same problem)
Update : If you have Interceptor repair quests active you cannot pin the recipe, delete the Interceptor missions and you should be good
I can't get it to work on PC when trying to place an alloy door on a freighter.
I’m having trouble getting the bulkhead to attach properly. If placed wrong, I can’t delete it.
Is there some trick to delete?
I’m having a real hard time on planets connecting freighter stairs downward 😅
I almost made it to the end (which was already only possible with programmable makros for me xD) and i managed to place my portal two times but sadly in the wrong direction... Now i have the problem that my pinned formula for the planetary teleporter keeps dissapearing because after pinning it the game immediately says that i already built it. I only want a damned straight teleporter on my freighter :(
Hmmm, did you delete the teleporters that were place wrong? As you can only build 1 teleporter module per base, it might count as built.
Thanks for your quick answer anyway now i gotta figure out a way to place my portal standing in the right direction :D
is this still working cant get it to work
I have a question beebs; do you think Sean sees these techniques that aren't meant to be and clearly are a exploits, but he doesn't want to fix them because at the end of the day you and others use more as tools than anything else?. Do you think there will be a day that they'll be forced to fix those glitch construction exploits? I don't want to imagine that day if update 4.0 was a taste of community indignation.
They'll never fix these, I'm not sure why they don't just add them as features because everything these glitches do clearly work just fine
@@ballsucker28 they kind of almost implement the replacement feature, but it only works with objects of the same kind, walls with walls, floors and so on. If they allowed freely to switch a part or a decoration with anything else it'll be a huge step tough
what do you press at 7:11?
I just finish the Universal Adjacency glitch, which means to complete that glitch you press the buttons for wire glitching.
(Wire Cache)
This allows you to place a substitute item (the item in Wire Cache) instead of the item in hand.
For instance:
PLACE a re-sized item ie: Lantern (shrunk or enlarged)
Now, take an item that cannot be resized ie: Bio-Dome but don't place it.
Instead press Wire & Item Toggles simultaneously (Triangle & Square on PS) (it's easy)
You should now have your normal selection reticle. Built items should highlight blue.
If you see the Wire tip, just try again.
Now, copy the resized item (lantern) but don't place it. (R1 on PS)
Instead, Press Wire Toggle & Item Placement together (Triangle & R2 on PS)
(timing takes a few minutes of practice)
If done correctly, well... you'll see.
If you Instead placed a Wire, just cancel (O on PS) and try again
(No need to start over unless it's finicky - fails several times)
Wire Glitch & Reverse Wire Glitch
Just means placing a Wire instead of the item in hand, or placing the item in hand instead of the Wire.
These are used to place items where it would usually be either difficult, or literally impossible.
They tend to get used in conjunction.
You Wire Glitch to put a Wire Snap Point into a specific place, then use the reverse to place an item there. A ton of uses.
Both are the same: Press Wire Toggle & Item Toggle simultaneously (Triangle & R2 on PS)
Just either start with the item in hand, or Toggle to Wire first. Each places the opposite.
Note: Wire Glitch requires a Snap point for other Wire end.
They should just allow people to use all parts on planetary bases, i can understand freighter bases being more limited but eh
Every time I hit the edit I get the base computer
Saving to cache no longer works :(
Tried it yesterday, still works for me.
Be sure to have at least a few slots in your inventory that are empty.
Also, be sure to have the resources to build both parts if you are not in creative.
Its patch
I'm probably just really stoned but this seems to not be working
I wanna try and change the freighter main door into a pine archway
I've tried like 100 times and unsuccessful ☹️
Be sure to have:
1) The resources to build the pinned part
2) Space in your Inventory (a full inventory will block this glitch from working)
@@Beeblebum ok thanks, I'll double check I think I was ok on those things, but I'm going to look next time I'm in game.. hopefully that's what the problem was
@@Beeblebum your previous tip helped! my inventory was full. if you do any more on the cachepin you should include attaching the stairs, I can't seem to get them to go the direction I need
...nah.
