This is incredible man, you did an AMAZING job. Thanks for this, I'll be sending people over to it for a long time! I love the animations, they're so good!
I've been trying this off an on for a few years. My skybases usually glitch out. The tutorial is wonderful and explains why my others have failed. I may be arriving too late though. I'm unable to stick a second base computer anywhere. Has HG rendered it impossible to stick a second bc any higher than the first build limit?
I watched it just to hear Beebs talk building. Great video. "And now the most difficult and most badass way to build a low orbit base" preach Beebs. Tell em!
Build your own space station would be best, after Orbital and all the stations are completely different from the old they could bring back the old ones for player made stations with the side doors that were used in Expanding your Base to lead into carrier interior component placement for corridors and rooms and the allowing the player to decorate or stuff the rooms with either decorations or useful stuff from base building. Have all the usual vendor stations but player hires them(yay expanding your base BS again), the other side gets filled by random NPC's. Have these stations only available to build in systems that do not have a space station and is the prime glitch collection systems or scan all critters destinations that's on the same planets found in these systems.. For player currency they could add a terminal that says X traffic for X funds made or whatever, honestly I don't care since money is super easy to get. Get lucky and land on a planet with salt in most all rocks and you have a huge money advantage, Check the system and find a planet with ancient bones? F the tutorial you have some digging to do.
Thanks for this guide!! I am in the process of building an orbital Gold Mine over an S Class Gold vein that took me 2 days of roaming the sparse resource planet I selected to find. There is an electromag hotspot nearby and so I'll be building two nearby and linking them together in the sky. If this is something that you want to do in NMS, follow this guide, it is insanely clear!
Awesome tutorial! I think you covered all the important things to consider. I usually lay out all the resources I want and then mark where I want my base computer. I go 1000 units away and start building stairs in that direction. I go horizontal a couple of floors every 10. It's an older method. Every base is different though. Sometimes I want a good ground view. Sometimes the clouds get in the mix. Sometimes I just want to get up high enough that the sentinels will leave me alone. I like my sky mines too lol. Great video! Thanks!
Great guide.Im looking to building my ultimate orbit base sometime when I'm not busy with real life. This is the perfect guide for me to start.Great Video.
Wow, awesome guide. Easy to follow, and very informative. Will definitely try building a low orbit base now. Never knew how it was done, thank you for this guide.
Awesome video. One of the few NMS content creators that doesn't ramble and shout. To the point and very focused on the actual message. I did the high wall method over an electrical hotspot. I choose NOT to go too high to be able to snipe Corrupted Mirror without getting agro. It has become a stupid easy farm now. :)
Fantastic stuff, Beebs. I made a couple low orbit bases before, though was nowhere near as precise with my placement. Admittedly, that cost me time, but it was still a fun experiment. I’m going to be getting back into NMS via PSVR2, so I’m saving this video for future reference. Thanks!
@@Beeblebum I was finally able to try it out last night, and I spent a blissful hour and a half playing without issue. I don’t know if the version you played had the skip movement feature, which pretty much eliminates nausea. And getting into that first ship and taking off after fixing it was… I put in hundreds upon hundreds of hours playing NMS on PC, and none of that equaled the experience of taking off in VR, bursting through the atmosphere and then flying around space. I was completely floored.
Thanks for the information. This still works but I had to go pretty high to claim the 2nd base computer. Then I was also right at the planet build limit. I nearly lost the base computer while checking if it would stay after a manual save. Luckily I had a automatic save to revert to....Once I did, I built down a bit and moved the base computer about 5 walls lower and was good to go. I build the original base pc at a shore line so I'm not 100% sure what went wrong but I got it to work regardless.....Thanks!!!!!!! Last edit... I did not know about the camera double tap glitch. That is a game changer while building.
This is sooo good! Thanks for this! I'm a really new player, so I'm not even close to being ready for this, but it's awesome to see different ideas and I can't wait to tackle one of these myself!👍👍👍
I'm learning the game through your videos... You are clearly the most knowlegable about base building in this game... Thank you so much for all your help... 🙂
I built a low-orbit base a little bit too high. After restarting the game everything was gone except the landing pad and my ship. How can I delete my base now that the Base Computer is missing?
Brilliant synopsis! I hope you can provide some advice. I used the claim base animation technique to create a low orbit base about a year ago. I placed a 2nd base computer, checked the upper build limit, and built a 2nd landing pad. However, now when I teleport to this base, my ship lands on an invisible landing pad and I begin to fall toward the planet. I was able to jetpack to the top of my ship and free place a floor just below where I would otherwise fall. This floor remains there to this day. The base computer is present but invisible about 10 wall heights below this floor. I can build down to where the marker is, but cannot see the base computer, interact with it, or delete it. I suspect I could just build my base and ignore the fact that I can’t take a base screenshot, or upload the base, but that isn’t ideal. Any advice? Thanks!
You can build some parts, probably much lower than your ship spawns after teleporting... I know of a way to delete the invisible base computer, but its too random and finicky to explain.. So plan is to make a video of it in the future. If you are on PC.. you can also save edit it and remove it.
315 walls, I can't even imagine the amount of ferrite dust or carbon needed 😅 But a ground based rusted metal refinery could help (alongside an oxygen gas cloud to make the carbon).
If you mean a base that you build before, and now lost it - there is a solution, but it is not simple. If you talk about a base while using this guide, then make sure you follow the instructions about saving and reloading.
Thanks for your video! I tried it with the animation but after claiming and fail to set a landing plattform I've tried it with the signalbooster but it will not show an animation. Then I tried it on another planet, where it also worked. After I built the second base and claimed the area, I built a landing platform inside this second base. Checked the autosave again and deleted the first base. But now the landing platform and the few other components have disappeared. Only the base symbol is still visible but nothing else. What could be the reason?
Yeah, not sure how well these backups still work on the next Gen Consoles.. lol But if you are on PC.. you can also use the Save Editor to remove them.

doing the first method broke my solar ship? pride of air it launches but doesnt unfold all the way and i cant control it and i cant get out of it i tried summoning the ship and even that wouldnt fix it
Yes, Solar panels are very flexible, as you can even use them underground. 😄 - One thing I have not checked yet is if they fixed the issue with batteries. Because there was a while that they did not not provide power.
@@azzor4134 I disagree, function and form in equal measures is best while function over form is better than form over function and all form and no function is just useless. Now two bases stacked ontop of each other using this method has potential. The floating one could be the fancy living area you hope gets on the Anomaly portal as featured while the ground one is all about function but laid out in a pleasing way with decorations and matches the sky base in aesthetics.

That skydiving method worked first try!!! Now how can I guard against it deleting my base parts? I just had that happen on an earlier build 😢
If you mean a base that you build before, and now lost it - there is a solution, but it is not simple.
If you talk about a base while using this guide, then make sure you follow the instructions about saving and reloading.
I just boost up to where i want my base to be on a low grav lifeless moon. Place base comp in the air & lamd on it.
23:30 what are the chances you landed on a rogue ship?
Thanks for your video!

If everything disappeared and the basecomp icon is still there, it means you build too high.
Backing up save files to be able to restore them can get rid of the lost base computer issues.
Yeah, not sure how well these backups still work on the next Gen Consoles.. lol
But if you are on PC.. you can also use the Save Editor to remove them.
i'm in build limit, outside of my base, and yet no matter how high i put the base computer it isn't letting me claim, is there something i did wrong?

How do you know where you can build? I’ve made 3 bases in the same spot at various heights and they all disappear…
Can solar panels be used as an alternative power source? Or does this not work on low orbit bases?
Yes, Solar panels are very flexible, as you can even use them underground. 😄 - One thing I have not checked yet is if they fixed the issue with batteries. Because there was a while that they did not not provide power.
I want a low orbit above my settlement now
the technique 3 seem to have been deleted, I can't do it
My question is Why? Beyond the cool factor a floating base is worse than a base on the ground and worse than a carrier.
Cool factor is all that matters.
