- Part 2 and possibly the final part of the handbrake install. It feels pretty good as it is and I don't think I will need to add the whole brake fluid reservoir setup. This video was a bit rushed and unfortunately after setting it all up, my accelerator pedal potentiometer decided to go wonky.. so I need to replace that soon. Thanks again for watching!

i just blanked one of the holes, filled mine with sewing machine oil,an put a pressure switch in the outlet hole, feels like a fluid hand brake, an then just set switch up to where ya want the feel to be when it turns it on
I used a real handbrake from an R33 skyline and it was so easy to mount to my rig and wire the switch to an RCA cable it took me 2 hours tops and that's painted mounted and working!
Also in the mechanics world use zip ties for the button😂

Great and helpful video! I have the g29 and play Assetto Corsa on ps4. Will this work on Ps4? I couldn’t find any other good tutorial but this was great, good to see an Aussie RUclipsr doing well!
Lochie Smurf Thanks mate! Yeah I primarily use the g29 with the ps4.. dirt 4 ps4 works great with the handbrake setup. I don't have assetto on ps4 so can't comment if the buttons can be remapped in the ps4 version but I have it on pc and you can. Thanks again!
KRaZi.TV Thankyou! I would love to do this, pressing R3 isn’t cutting it. But I just don’t no if I ready to take apart the wheel and possibly break it, I’m not amazing with electronics. If there was a way to make one and directly plug it into the Ps4 I’d do that. But maybe later on I’ll give it a go. And thank you for the quick response.
I'm very bad at electronics too. all I know is connecting the com & no with wires will make it activate when its pressed... and it needs power... my wheel will take a lot of savings to get but I'm getting close and I definitely won't be doing this when I first get it, but if you have your wheel for a little while (when you start taking it for granted) I'd recommend trying it out. its not that hard or at least it seems pretty easy but I'd just recommend even if your not good at it but you really wanna do it, don't be scared... it could end up in a $300 mistake yes but if you really want to do it, go for it!
@@lachlanmurphy5522 you could buy one but they are hundreds of dollars as opposed to this like 50 dollar setup

Can you do a tutorial on the hand brake wiring using the micro switch you mentioned below.
What frame is that? DIY or did you buy it? The setup looks neat!
Piiitek Build it myself man back about 9 years ago. Google chilicoke simulator. The diagrams are probably still out there. I just flipped it from left hand drive to right hand and slightly changed dimensions.
Pro tip. Do no put handbrake next to steering wheel, but the gearstick. You do not use the handbrake that much, compared to gearstick.
But What do Real life drifters do put it on the passenger side?😂
Would this work if I tapped into the parking brake button on the shifter on a PXN V10?
Please help me. I have followed your video to a T. Which 2 posts on the switch did you tap into? There are 3 posts. My hand brake just stays on after I pull it and won't unlock

I replied to your previous comment but it disappeared. If your new to soldering I'd recommend getting a friend that has some experience to help out. The risk is applying too much heat. The longer you apply the soldering iron to the board the more likely you can damage components. Usually a way to help this is to use Kaptop tape to shield any near by components. The Kaptop tape acts as a shield and deflects most of the heat. You can apply it to the areas surrounding the spot you want to solder. Having said that, there is very little risk in this mod. Just be careful when applying heat and that you take care not to touch too many of the other components on the board :)

KRaZi. Just to add on, i plan to use a pressure sensor which uses 3 wires. Do i connect all 3 wires from the sensor or only the red and black? Since the R3 has 4 wire slots on the board
Irfancooking Usually a pressure sensor has a power input and a sensor wire. So positive, negative and sensor wires. This won't work in our setup as there is:
1) no power output in the 2 wires from r3
2) even if you sourced a power output, the r3 button is not an analog sensor line. It is only a circuit that you complete when the wires are connected together.
You will only be able to put a simple switch in this case unfortunately. It was a great idea to use a pressure sensor/load cell but unfortunately it won't work here :(
KRaZi. I guess the only other thing to mod for g29 on ps4 is flipping the board to a switch box and changing the wheel😂

Thanks! No it work work. Although it uses a rs232 port, it is wired solely for use with the logitech shifter. The board on the wheel has no USB peripheral support.

Where does the wires go on the switch
Solder it to a contact switch like I show in the video. You solder one wire to the common and the other to the NO (Normally Open) contact of the switch. If you need help with this step, best to find a friend locally that can help you out :)

If you need help with this its probably best to ask a friend that has experience with using a soldering iron. If you don't have access to a soldering iron, you could wrap some of the wire around the contact and use a hot glue gun. Won't be as strong as a connection but it may work.

+marin11 No havn't had any issues with it so far. Works really well I have played a bit of the new Dirt 4 with it and its great.

marin11 Sounds good man! It took a little getting use to with it vertical like a race car, but once I got the hang of it its so good! Oh remember to add a tiny bit of greese on the moving parts if its the same style as mine. It was a bit noisy before adding greese.

Also what is the gauge of wire you used?
I'd recommend about 18 gauge wire per core - nothing less (ie bigger diameter) or it becomes too big to fit through the center of the wheel. If you can get it, 22 gauge for each core is ideal.

What 2 prongs do u solder the wire to on the switch?
Jaiden Thammavongsa Depends on the type of switch. If its the same microswitch that I ended up using it has 3 prongs. The middle prong is the common, so thats one wire.. and one of the side prongs will be the NO (Normally Open) prong. When the switch activates it will Close the loop. If the switch doesn't have 'NO and NC' written on it, you can test which prong closes the loop using a multimeter. Put the multimeter on the audible closed loop mode, put one of the multimeter prongs on the common, and the other on a side. Press the switch and see if it makes a noise. If you don't have a multimeter, you can simply open a game and test which prong presses the button you soldered into. Hope that helps.
What games can you support it for?
Hunter Lacasse Any game on the PS4 that supports the G29 and button remapping in game. Some of these I have tested to be working include Project Cars 1, Dirt Rally, Dirt 4 and GT Sport. I'm sure more games allow the handbrake to be assigned to R3 button but thats all I have tested personally. On PC all I have tested is Assetto Corsa. Generally PC games allow better options for button remapping so there would be a lot more. Hope that helps.
Does the handbrake work to ps4 or only pc??
Taggilo If you follow the video you will see thr handbrake connects to a particular button on the wheel. The wheel can be used on both PC and PS4 so yes it works fine on both :) I use it for ps4 as well as Assetto Corsa on PC!

Taggilo have a friend or a relative that is familiar with using a soldering iron to give you a hand with it :) just take it slowly and double check your work.

Hey man, I know it's been a very long time since you posted this video, but your pretty much my only hope with helping me with a problem on all of RUclips - I have the same g29 set up and same handbrake, I got everything connected and working but the handbrake and I can't find any way to work on my PlayStation - when I plug it in, there is a red light and everything in the handbrake showing it's plugged in and getting power but when i try to assign it to the handbrake in the game, it doesnt work - I've looked at about everything I could and I just can't figure it out - the only difference is that the handbrake is not hydrolic and I'm playing DiRT 4 - PLEASE PLEASE help me here, I'll like, subscribe - anything

I'm not sure what switch your talking about - is that what I need for it to work on PlayStation?
And if possible, is there a way to have it work without sauntering it to the wheel because I'm trying to get it to not just have 0 - 100% input, I'm trying to keep it realistic
For now I pretty much just have the USB connected directly to the PlayStation

@@riotracing55 So the series of videos I made are around tapping a wire into the g29 to connect a handbrake with a switch. The handbrake you have purchased is a USB handbrake for PC. Unfortunately those will not work on PS4 as its not an authorised ps4 peripheral and the ps4 does not have the driver for it built in. Sorry buddy, I don't think that will work for your use on the ps4 :(
