D16Y7 (DX/LX) had the built in cat in the manifold. D16Y8 (EX with VTEC) had the slightly higher flowing 2 piece upper/lower manifold which then went into the cat separately, much like the aftermarket one you have does.
I've seen just about every Honda Civic exhaust manifold video and this is one of the most competent videos on RUclips! very awesome. I didn't realize that there might actually be a better manifold for my Honda Civic. I have a 2001 Honda Civic and the manifold is cracked right where it always cracks on these Honda manifolds/catalytic converters. I already order a new manifold for $100 bucks but i figure it's just a matter of time before it cracks in the same spot again. This time I ordered some lava exhaust wrap so I could wrap the manifold but I have my doubts. What do you think about putting a good lava wrap around the manifold pipes? I was thinking of just wraping around the middle area where it always seems to crack instead of wrapping all the pipes.
This is an old video BUT for those barely tuning in for 96-2000 theres 3 different exhaust manifolds. The highest flowing one and most highly sought after is the 99-2000 EX. The 96-98 is a cast manifold going to a 2-1 downpipe. The 99-00 is a stainless steel tubular exhaust manifold NOT cast to a 2-1 downpipe. Then you have the base model cat/manifold like the video. For those that dont know. Cheers
Just the dilemma I was in not too long ago. I went with the eBay header. No emissions testing in my area. Eventually plan to swap a B16, in the meantime it’s totally fine.

Hey Mike glad to help. Yeah a wrap would help for sure. In my case the crack didn't get noticeable/cause issues till around 200k so I bet your new manifold will outlive the car, or at least your ownership of it. Right around 200k I began hearing the leak and shortly after that I got a CEL. No issues at all since I installed the new one, I'm at 220k now, car still runs great.

Another informative and interesting Vlog! Keep up the great job.
Thank you sir!!!!

I was just about to order this lol thanks for saving me 43 and some change Jaja keep up the good work boss and thanks for the link !!
Jesus is Lord!
Going to hook up my Civic build soon
So you just bought another lx manifold? Do you think it will eventually crack like all the other ones?
Eventually but it buys some time....time is running out for all of us, the grass, the cars, all the humans. Entropy.
The Tale of Three Headers:”It was the best of headers...It was the worst of headers...”
Good jod I got my Honda civic buy it this week need do that can run better where got it got any links can buy it thank you
How about if u connect the header down pipe to a testpipe?
whats the manifold stud size? a few snapped and i need to get others. the 40.5mm(which said it fit) didnt not fit and were to large.
Sorry, I sold that car and am not able to find this out for you.
I’m worried the $100 cat won’t last. I need one but I’m more inclined to pay $200
Then waste your money
@@TristonSmith_ThePlumbingSmith I ended up getting the $100 cat lol. we'll see what happens
@@bob15479 it should work fine man
