the way the three sibs react exactly the same as they do in the second ep of the first season when he's in hospital... kendall trying to take control, speak to the pilot, get ~plane medicine experts~ the same way he tried to be "king of the hospital", roman so utterly convinced for so long that his dad literally can't die so there's no way he can be dead just like how he refused to accept what was happening the first time, and shiv trying to delay the inevitable by holding off on letting it all out to the public. in ep 2 she tried to get them to delay on an announcement as long as possible because she didn't want to make any firm decisions, in this ep she's asking if they can just circle in the plane until everyone's decided everything and then she can face facts. GOD the writing is so good. and the way in the last ep tom was saying to logan "you did it, you landed the plane"... ouch.
I love this episode but I kind of hate that so many people hype this episode to new reactors instead of just letting them experience it semi-blind. But hearing about how this episode was done is one of my favorite things. Logan was a force and it'll be interesting to see how the kids move on without him. When this aired, I called his death in both episodes 1 and 2 of this season yet when it unfolded, I was surprised still.
Yeah. It’s always weird when I hear reactors say everyone has gotten them excited for this one when the content is actually devastating. It would be like hyping someone up for a painful episode of Six Feet Under. 😂 Still the performances & storytelling is stellar & a highlight of the series, but you’re right.
Luckily, even though the fans were hyping it up, my expectations were subverted. I thought people were hyping it up for the WEDDING itself and that it was going to be a very emotional episode for Connor and Willa. Ironically, end of the day, it still was X)
@@HoundsBaneI agree but honestly it’s not even the fact that it’s this sort of subject matter but making people anticipate something big happening in this episode just kind of bums me out. It hasn’t been a huge deal or anything but I always hear post-Succession reactors mention “I heard this is a big one.”
@@MovieMan101I’m glad to hear that because the surprise makes it hit even harder. I just kind of wish people didn’t make people anticipate something major happening since those watching it live didn’t anticipate anything too major happening given that it was episode 3 out of 10. We knew a wedding episode would be interesting but didn’t think it would be much bigger than that lol
@28:24 I LOVE that you picked up on the subtleties of Matthew Macfadyen's acting. Tom's ability to stay calm under pressure is incredible. I picked up on this in 3x3 when he was making a pitch to advertisers and Hugo came in the room in the middle of his speech to tell him that the FBI was raiding the premises. I was impressed by his ability to calmly navigate that incident in real time.
Every character seems to have their respective strengths and weaknesses, and I have to admit (though I don't like Tom too much) like you said, he's very adept at navigating stressful situations.
Roman almost fully breaking down definitely got to me, and Shiv turning into a "puddle" as Connor put it also cut through. Really whenever a character's voice starts wavering/breaking seems to strike a chord with me overall. Glad we could sob together in communion
Omg, 🥲 your excited face at the beginning. I was like somebody Hug this man!! 😩 So many moving parts in this insane episode. Logan was an absolute BASTARD until his very end. Stabbing Gerri in the back, sending Roman to deliver the news , & completely snubbing his Eldest son’s wedding. Even when he was feuding with Shiv way back in season one, he couldn’t resist the urge to show up & spite her. He devastated those kids & left them devastated. If that’s not tragic I don’t know what is. Outstanding painful performances from everyone this episode.
It's easy to see why this episode won the Emmy for best writing and directing. Everything about it was just so perfectly done and resonated with so many people who have lost loved ones in a similar manner. It was also one of the most memorable nights of television simply because everyone watching was doing so in shock/disbelief. The live tweets during the episode resembled the kids' reactions because nobody knew if it was real or not. Like Roman, a lot of people thought Logan was pulling a stunt on his kids. It wasn't until the very end that everyone was like "Wow. Logan is actually dead." Great, great stuff.
That was my assumption at the end of Ep.1X2 back in the day, I started theory-crafting that he was pulling a fast one on the kiddos. But yeah, my only regret is that I wasn't watching LIVE with everyone else and following the show as closely. But luckily, I still went into this ep fairly blind and still felt it's full weight.
I love seeing people really emotionally connect with media, it's relatable to me as a fellow "empath" lol. I also cried during this episode. I appreciate your reaction and also the story you shared about your friend. I haven’t experienced such a personal loss yet but even the thought still makes this ep hit hard for me
Same here 100% It's good for everyone to have a good cry and open themselves up to feeling their emotions/trauma. For me (as well as yourself and others) watching certain movies, television and games very often provide emotional triggers that get the waterworks going. Plus, if the media in question is good, I let myself get 100% invested in the characters and the story, and I'll be feeling everything they're feeling right along with them. Thanks for watching btw
The way they delivered the news about it was perfect. I've accidentally seen a spoiler that Logan eventually dies and that it happens not on the last episode of the show and after RUclips recommended me several videos of the reactor crying during "Connor's Wedding" I was 100% sure that this is the episode he dies. I went into it completely expecting it and they still managed to do this unexpectedly. When Roman answered the call from Tom I literally had a gut feeling like all the organs inside of me dropped down for a second in the same way it feels like in real life when you hear news like this.
For the record, there have been cases of people coming back to life after multiple hours of chest compressions, and CPR regularly lasts ~20ish minutes. So them still going after 10 minutes is not unusual, and 10 minutes gone by wasn't a guarantee that we would not survive
So "fun" fact, the final season poster has a plane in the reflection of the building in the top right foreshadowing Logan's death on a plane. Man, such an incresible episode though, this felt so real in how disconnected and distant you feel from the situation, just like the kids. Now imagine not knowing, "Hey, this episode is gonna be incredible," seeing this live was insane. Really appreciate you being so real in your reaction, cried with you, man. It's a tough one to get through goddamn.
I SAW THIS after watching the episode!! Someone pointed it out, and now it make sense! Agreed, phenomenal episode! Appreciate you sharing your experience as well, thanks for watching along with me
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR MONTHS FOR THIS ONE 🎉🎉🎉 Also your commentary during logan's death and the aftermath is ON POINT on the character analysis as usual
I appreciate you saying so. I equate loss/depression to the main character in "The Babadook". (if you haven't seen it yet, and don't mind horror, give it a watch) One way of looking at the movie, is not as a "Monster Movie" but as a metaphor for depression /loss, in that, it never truly goes away but instead you learn to live with it. A part of that loss will always stay with me, but as you said, there's a level of acceptance to it, that it will always remain. Thank for watching btw
One of the more ghoulish things about the whole thing is the apprehension to just say logan was dead because if they called it prematurely, it would have been disasterous financially.
no way you made that free churro connection i thought about that too!! the way bojack talks about despite having terrible parents, he still hopes for that love, and you dont realise until that chance goes away forever
Idk why your commentary at the first chunk of this video (BEFORE logan dies of course) was so funny to me maybe im just in a good mood w seeing one of my top 5 fav succession reactors watching the golden episode 🙂↕️
Haven’t seen Dark and Severance is AMAZING, but Mr. Robot is done and is perfect from beginning to end, though season 2 is a bit frustrating. Severance only has 1 season out. Highly recommend Mr.Robot. One of my favorite shows of all time.

Truly, this series may land in my Top 10 of all time just based on it's writing alone!

they all hit hard, but for some reason con’s reaction in particular gets the waterworks going
Roman almost fully breaking down definitely got to me, and Shiv turning into a "puddle" as Connor put it also cut through. Really whenever a character's voice starts wavering/breaking seems to strike a chord with me overall. Glad we could sob together in communion

At logan's age the recovery would be much harder though - it would lead to severe brain damage at the very least
@@cmbeadle2228 yeah it would definitely make the chances worse
Appreciate you saying so, thank YOU for watching
Man, that Bojack sequence, so perfect!
Great reaction and commentary.
One of the best episodes of TV ever.
Agreed! And glad you enjoyed my reaction
I love this episode so much I’ve seen several reactions to it and yours was the best. You even wove in Free Churro. Thanks!
The best description ive seen of this show is that its a show full of prople who dont deserve our empathy, but have it nonetheless.
Love this. Spot on!
Great episode and great reaction. Love the context you added from other acts.

Thank you for the kind words
4:52 "Killer start here"
Oh boy...
The scene where shiv announces logan's death to the media seems be partially based on ghislaine maxwell announcing the death of her father.
Another world-class reaction
Thank you
I know this doesn’t help, but I’m sorry about your best friend. It took me a long time to come to acceptance after loss.

Logan Roy died doing what he loved most. Not going to his children's major life events.
HBO and weddings, huh?
I was confused when people said this after the episode aired but having seen said hbo weddings recently I get it now. 😅
*Rains of Castamere* starts playing*
Succ sesh hittin different this time
One of the more ghoulish things about the whole thing is the apprehension to just say logan was dead because if they called it prematurely, it would have been disasterous financially.
Right?? Such a delicate situation for a number of reasons, leading to what was effectively half an hour of "beating around the bush"
no way you made that free churro connection i thought about that too!! the way bojack talks about despite having terrible parents, he still hopes for that love, and you dont realise until that chance goes away forever
I did my time with BoJack lol that show definitely hit close to home more times than I expected it would
42:15 "She killed him"
loved the react as always
Gotta bring some levity into the room somehow X)
The music in this episode is absolutely incredible! And also so much… lighter? As if some great weight has been lifted from the show.
LET'S GOOOOOO
Hell yeah

Appreciate you saying so lol I'm sure the overall juxtaposition between the jokes and the loss also helped XD
Talking about a valet death in the first 30 seconds. Man doesn’t know what’s about to hit him
I am honestly shocked by the irony of nearly every joke I made in the first 10 minutes XD

Mr. Robot, I beg you. It's too underrated
Even if I don't watch it next, I can guarantee I'll watch it eventually!
Your viewers are pathetic if they told you this is a hype episode, they ruined it for you. True fans would have let you experience it blind
