Unorthodox tip: As a former X rank underminer main, I am not seeing enough mines. They are significantly better for the undercover than people think. They have great splash damage, they build special, can be placed right on top of an opponent when they are looking elsewhere as a shark assist (this is a much better option than firing with the brella itself), and can even setup multiple assists for your team. When placed properly, they become pit-traps that provide you an approach/escape option. Just make sure you put them where walls provide cover for the mine itself, and you treat them like a literal ship's ⚓. You should NEVER stray too far from your mines. P.S. 2 subs of sub power up, 1 sub of ink recovery up and 1 sub of ink resistance make the mines MUCH more consistent. Drop roller+Haunt+mines=respawn punisher.
i really appreciate the tip, but unfortunately the whole series had been pre recorded. i am well aware however that my mine usage was quite poor. still managed to do alright without them though :)
oh boy good luck in A Rank becuase i find its way worse then any rank just mindless players thinking theyre good but only got carried by the good teammates Edit: this is for Fragzz i would recommend if you wanted to play clam blitz play with some one that you know like a friend because that game is heavliy team coordinated
I'm in A+ and I use a strategy of being a splatling (Preferably Nautilus) and be a defensive player and let ur team work on pushes. I personally think solo que isn't HORRIBLE for zones but it can be frustrating. Reason? TEAMMATES
Before chill season in S rank, I encountered one player multiple times named “brella boy” and his splash tag was just the splat brella sticker and his tag name was “ the original boy” I’ve only fought him three times, but they were memorable
I had the exact same mindset over the entire week. Clam Blitz has never really been my specialty (opposite of that is Rainmaker). Prior to Chill I was in B+ quickly approaching Rank Up Battle. Then Chill Season starts and I got bumped down to B- 100. I simply thought that it was going to be a calm journey back up to where I was, however it turned out to be the complete opposite. To put it lightly, the teams I got were very unorganized (trying to control but keep on dying during Tower Control & Splat Zones). This week alone, I had two Clam Blitz games where no one scored until last two mintues. The first one came down to the last two mintues, I finally managed to throw in a Power Clam, and then realized that the other team was getting close. It went into Overtime with only one person in enemy territory, and ended in a tie with my team getting one extra point. The another time was yesterday where a similar thing happend during Clam Blitz, my team was doing good, but then it all got out of hand when a N-ZAP player somehow got to our base. Upon seeing the replay of it, their movement was unatural with them teleporting while firing. If you know the map well then you eould know that there is a block right next to the basket, so they used that to get up. Worst part is that they had a Power Clam. I don't really know what happend. My only guess is something related to ping, but they never got disconnected. From those two battles alone, I was saying similar things such as "What were you doing?!" and "Why is wrong with you?!" Having those kinds of emotions can really stick with you in a game like Splatoon 3, because you can never seem to trust your team due to a few factors (for example possible inexperience to you). I feel like this happens in all Anarchy Modes too. For They all just feel very condensed and feel difficult to intervene, plus it always feels like someone is behind you (or near you) ready to kill you. Always knowing that just makes you ask "What is the point?" At the start of Splaoon 3, I tired out Anarchy Battles and wondered how people could enjoy it. As of now, I can definitely see why, but it always feels like a loop (but that might be because of my skill level). Recently (and when I mean recently I mean literally today), I have been trying to get out of that mentality, plus I have been able to get out of B- so that is good. Sorry for the essay, I just wanted to share my experience because I agreed with a part of the video.
clam blitz is always a shitshow in low rank solo q, doesnt get good until ~s rank. even me up in x battle 2200 still constantly has my moments where i snap out of focusing on what i am doing wrong and instead blame it all on my team. unfortunately you cant control what happens, but you need to stay with it because if you tilt you will start playing worse almost immediately. good luck on your journey through the ranks :)
I'm in S rank right now, and it's VERY COMMON to not score in a clam blitz game until there's a minute left or overtime. This is mostly due to the teams being in a constant stalemate with each other because the defense for both teams is great, but the offense is not there until the very end when scoring might actually decide who's going to win. I find that these are the most frustrating matches, but it happens when there is one front line weapon and the rest are back line in one way or another. To be honest though, S rank can feel like A- some days...
i was noticing the teammate blaming and i'm glad you recognized that and advised against it! i have no idea how to play undercover so i do not have any advice but i'm really enjoying this series!!
Really glad you acknowledged how constantly blaming your team can have a negative effect. Your explanation on how ranked modes work and tunneling on the objective was also really nice. Very straightforward and understandable without treating the viewer like they’re dumb. This is exactly the kind of advice newer players should be given, and I’m really glad to see it in this series. Keep up the good work!
I am a bit late to comment on this video😅 but i wanted to make some things clear. I find it very good of you, giving tips to the lower level players, acknowledging the right mindset, and the weapons weaknesses. But, i think its important to make it clear that the roles of a weapon ARE NOT STATIC, the squelchers are not "a skirmisher" they are just particulary capable in that role, even a splattershot sometimes can be a skirmisher sometimes. This should be made clear as it can lead to confusion and disinformation on the topic. Regardless i very appreciate the huge work you put on this series, so keep going❤
as a stick player, i cannot get into motion controls. ive tried all the tricks in the book that creators have suggested and i just cant use motion controls. i think i play okay as a stick player, i dont really need them :)
I like how at the 4:05 mark he explains the weapons roles and what each weapon should be doing to help with the team, yet he uses the under cover brellia as a slayer weapon going head first into the battle as if it is slayer "splash o matic" Him challenging that Hydra as an under cover brellia is mind boggling, however it is "B Rank" so it does not matter, ha ha. Honestly that is a terrible idea to challenge such back line weapons at it's strong point, the e-liter especially was making easy picks off of the channel host.
It’s actually easier to win with a support or defense oriented weapon in higher ranks, where your teammates are more likely to know how to play off you. People who main slayer weapons tend to have an easier time plowing through lower ranks because they are less dependent on teammate cooperation or competence.
I was having a bit if match making hell at one point so i adopted the "git gud" and "do it yourself" mindset. After that i went from B rank to s+ in a week. Your mindset really does affect your play.
my road to S+ was not bad until i became S that was my hell and i also blamed my teammates but thats also because i only had 1 week til the season ended and had to go down a rank man i was so happy i was able to become + now i dont really care if i win or lose
A rank is hell on earth when it comes rank up battles ( atleast it was for me lol) i think it took like 4 or 5 rank up attempts for me to get to s rank. And then i had to do it again because of chill season.
im not exactly a great player but ive literally gotten a 3k to turn around and find my team dead to the one person i didnt kill more than once btw great job and keep up the work
Hi, I'm playing with the switch in handheld mode with motion control, I think I'm pretty good at the game but I'd like to improve even more. it is important for me to switch from portable mode to controller mode to improve myself ?
absolutely not! most people including myself prefer to use a controller, but you absolutely can still get good on handheld. i would say if you feel like youve hit a skill cap, you COULD switch to controller, but it is absolutely not necessary.
I've said this before and I'll say it again: there needs to be a version of 'Regular Battle' that has the 4 ranked game modes but isn't ranked that unlocks for a new player after they play 1 turf war match. It would not only help new players learn the 4 ranked game modes without the stress of something like ranks, and at the same time give casuals something to play besides turf war.
As someone trying to learn the meta of the game and improve at my main weapon, would inkbrush be considered a slayer or skirmisher? I’m thinking more the latter, but I want to be sure I’m right - I wanna improve my strategy and learn the advantages with inkbrush. (I know there’s also the hidden category of “sharking” weapons but in reality its hard to shark with the limited flank routes of most splat maps.)
I'm assuming you mean practicing different weapons of different roles. if you're playing a Slayer like a support, it's a very good idea to switch roles since it will benefit you a lot. as for practicing other weapons, it's up to you! I personally haven't branched out too much but I'm starting to play some anchor weapons. its just what you feel like.
You mentioned that you play squalchers as a main. Have you ever considered doing some videos about how to make the best use of them? I main them also, and find decent content to be scarce.
I haven't touched squelchers nor splatoon as a whole in a while, so I don't wanna feed you false info, but the biggest tips I can give you is to take advantage of your increased range over shorter range shooters, and watch your ink tank, they are very ink hungry weapons. also try to use dodge rolls as much as possible and use jump tech (if you don't know what jump tech is just look up splatoon dualie squelchers jump tech). best of luck 🤞
it absolutely does not feel like x rank. its mainly the fact that new people are coming over from splatoon 2 still. maybe a rank skill but it's not that big of a gap.
