I think most people cant square the circle about a rapper not looking like traditional masculine architypes and get the corny labels thrown on them. I didn’t even look at the sub count I just assumed you had a mil or so, keep grinding bro you got a lot of potential this RUclips algorithm just ain’t it sometimes
One thing I have relalised is every rapper has an element of corniness to them its just that some rappers are good at hiding it , personally I came to realise this after J-Cole apologized , rapping about being the greatest and making multiple songs about how confident you are for years to come apologize and take down a diss track is the corniest thing i have seen this year
That wasn't corny. That was the smartest, most genuine thing he could do. He knew he made the wrong move and any respectable man would apologize for stepping like that, especially against someone he has so much love for. He felt pressured by everyone to prove something and realized after that the corniest thing was him releasing the diss in the first place. He realized he didn't have anything to prove and that he's easily in the conversation for modern GOAT status. He also realized that he didn't want that smoke. That's not corny, that's just sensible.
Moving with what keeps your soul at ease is never corny. You could tell he was genuinely bothered by what he did and as a man, he had to own that & make right by it. Lowering his head & humbly apologizing was a show of his true character.
Aye your opinion, I guess it’s cuz you’re young but I do understand it. But after seeing the aftermath, it was best for him not to enter a fight that has nothing to do with him. Especially knowing there was no friendly competition between Drake and K.Dot. Most fans don’t see it through that lens. These the same fans who cheer trash artists while shiii on good ones because of popularity. Unfortunately It is what it is

@smokeybowls187 nothing is wrong with trying different sounds but biting off with no clear homage or reference or respect to that craft is culture vulture behavior I equate drake to post Malone
@@Sir_glizzius That's not trying different sounds. That's definitely culture vulture activities and culture vulture & corny are mutually exclusive. I would argue, however, that Post isn't a culture vulture. He grew up with the sounds of Texas rap. Dirty South/CnS/bounce/crunk. So he grew up steeped in the culture. But, on the other side of that, he's also maintained (and if you listen to his music, it's readily apparent) that he's not a rapper. He came into music just trying stuff out & happened to blow up off something sorta like rap because that's what he was releasing at the time. But even when he "rapped", it was always more singing than rapping. This goes back again to the perspective he's always maintained that he's not a rapper. To his core, he's a singer. But to call him a culture vulture is to both say that he has no love for the culture that he grew up with & to say he's taken but never given back. Almost any song he's featured on has been ironically one of the biggest, if not the biggest hit that artist has ever had. And the artists he's picked to feature for weren't picked to benefit him. He did it for the love of those people, their art, & the overall greater art of hip-hop. People like 21 Savage or Swae who were at lulls or low points in their careers. The man gave 8 years during which, from the beginning & throughout, he reminded everyone that he wasn't a rapper. He just happened to make some tracks that were more rap like. He told everyone from the very start he wanted to be a country or folk star by 30 and here we are. The man had a plan to just make music and hopefully make it doing that. Now he has. Nobody can say he didn't put in enough hours to retire from the culture a veteran. Let the man do what really makes him feel good in his soul, even if it's the terrible genre that is modern country.
@smokeybowls187 I said equate. I get your point of view I never fully thought post was a culture vulture but he has said and done interviews where he has actively gone against the notion of hip hop and rap. Although post has good intentions when you fully transition from white Iverson to doing country music and fully changing your persona do you think that's not being dishonest about your image I feel as if your ignoring the reason he blew up. But drake himself uses these other styles for his benefit only and doesn't really allow the other in that genre to flourish and then leaves so in his case he is a culture vulture.

During the Joyner x Logic beef one of my friends said about Logic: "Saying a bunch of nothing really fast doesn't mean good rapping.". Every time I've read lyrics of his after that he always came off as corny and wack to me. Every time Ive been recommended a Logic song it never scratched that itch. Great video though dog, its admirable watching people look after they family. Keep it up.
Hopsin may be corny but has some good tracks. Ill Mind 6, Ill mind 9, and Alone with Me are honestly not bad. Hotel in Sydney I like but I could understand it being problematic to some, and Origin Story gives me some hope Hopsin can redeem himself.
unironically I think Logic is less corny than Joyner Lucas or Kevin Gates dudes way too positive of a person to justify shitting on him, it feels like kicking a puppy
I don't understand why you said Joyner Lucas is in any way adjacent to Tom McDonald and Dax, because I feel like those two are uniquely horrible out of anybody in this list, they are pure mockery of anything they engage in, they have no passion for the music they make, and both are basically just grifters, maybe their fan bases overlap in some way but as far as the artist I don't think Joyner deserves that comparison, he's corny but he can actually rap, and he doesnt make music to grift, I guess they are on similar levels of corniness but overall those 2 cant really be related to anyone else on this list, they are uniquely bad and gross in what they do
Arguably, Tom & Dax are also skilled lyricists. Tom had a brief window where he was less corny & more real, before he got on the grift train. Dax has just always moved weird, rapped about being a janitor too much, faked some of his "one take" videos, backstabbed & estranged his fellow RUclips rappers, got an ego, got punked by Tory, & scammed other artists or refused to promote joint ventures. Joyner, I think, gets the corny label because he recycles his subject matter constantly & fell into that same trap of remixing popular beats/trashing on the artists who originally made them. He was at the tip of the anti-mumble rap spear. So yeah, that kinda got corny too. I like him, don't get me wrong. None of this is hate. But I guess he's just a little too predictable to really be fully invested in like other artists with broad ranges. You want to like him because he's also a skilled lyricist, but the things that make him corny are just so damn cringy. Same with Dax & Tom. You know all 3 of these artists could be so much greater if they focused on really putting out true musical *art* instead of trying to rappity rap & moving like cornballs.
@@smokeybowls187 nah that's the thing I don't really like Joyner much either, he made a lot of gimmick songs about ideas that he didn't always display properly, and lacked substance, I'm just saying that Joyners type of corny is more closer to Logics type of corny, artists with a genuine intention to say something but don't really have that much to actually say, I'm saying Tom and Dax are actors, they are not artists and they are not rappers, they don't care about the art form, they make things in bad faith to appeal to a very specific audience who hates rap and on the low are literally political pundits, their technical skills are not impressive enough to count as not half bad, they rap like someone who couldn't and watched RUclips tutorials on it for some time, maybe there's something I'm missing and I'm out the loop on Joyner but what I'm saying is I hate most of his shit, and yet he is not at all adjacent to Dax and Tom, just a different category entirely and I assumed this seemed more obvious to people, logic and Joyner are corny, Dax and Tom are disingenuous grifters that were so bad at rapping they had to find an entire audience of people who literally hate rap, maybe joyner shares some of that audience which makes sense cause his shit is corny but Dax and Tom deliberately created that echo chamber

Saying Donald Glover is corny is a definition of failing to understand the uniqueness in art.. It like says a penguin is Corney because it is a bird that lays eggs but doesn't fly ...

Recency bias or not, Drake 1000% deserve to be on this list
Logic is the Jayson Tatum of Rap
I think most people cant square the circle about a rapper not looking like traditional masculine architypes and get the corny labels thrown on them. And while that's a quick and dirty assessment, that's the point. I think that's exactly what's happening in general and people have to do so damn much to overcome it.
Exactly
“Corniness is a spectrum” fucking sent me 💀
Broo I love that you have a family and still work while doing this. Much respect 👊
I appreciate that
Thank you. I constantly get "oh so you're like Tom Macdonald" when people learn about my music and it drives me up the wall. Glad to see your reaction to (i'm so sorry you did this to yourself) hearing albums of his was the correct one. In my experience when people say "I don't really like hip hop but" whoever they insert is usually cringe af, and alot of times have one thing in common with the person saying it to me that nobody really wanna point out but we all know what it is.
Damn is logic really that bad to some people? I think his music and Childish Gambino music is alright ngl

Mfs call anything that they don’t like corny smh. Its so stupid
That clip about YNB Nahmir had me cackling. Mad excellent editing.
Love you mentioning hanging with your son and family instead of making more videos. Keep going brother.
Thank you for the support. Will do!
I feel like glover represents himself more honestly which saves him from over the top corniness

Bro honestly speaking, who listens to Tom McDonald?
Suburban white people who don't really listen to rap.
Ben Shapiro and other people who don't like rap/hip-hop made by black people. Or anything related to the black experience. Also boomers...So many boomers
Racists
im conservative and i cant stand him, so idk who
white people who say that they "don't see color"
People love to talk shit about logic all because of the Everybody album. That man can be corny all he wants but he's still dropping incredible albums unlike many artists on a mainstream label but i digress. He got made into a laughing stock all due to the fact that he told people he was biracial on 1 album and everyone called it corny....alot of people on the internet are weird.. let that man live his life in peace.
FLWRS Is a crazy underrated RUclipsr! Always enjoy it when you drop!
Lmao corniness is a spectrum 😂
When people try so hard to be authentic that it goes all the way back around to being inauthentic.
you’re so right about logic’s unoriginality. i love the title track on under pressure but its structure is essentially samidot just copy pasted and it always bothers me.
I didn’t even look at the sub count I just assumed you had a mil or so, keep grinding bro you got a lot of potential this RUclips algorithm just ain’t it sometimes
I appreciate that. Will do!💪🏾

Love that. Thank you for watching and comin back!
Unfortunately It is what it is
@@undertakerblaise256 J- cole could have approached the battle in a very wise and different way , there's always a way e.g J-Cole is the wise , mature older brother he could have addressed K-Dots bitterness and lack of maturity something even K-Dot admitted to in Mr Morale, but J-Cole decided to call Kendricks Discography mid , I don't think there's anything wrong with him backing out I think the way he backed out was the corniest thing I have ever seen and admit it left a stain on his image as one of the greatest rappers
@@asamwapersonal I had said this before because someone used this as a counter argument. Even though I do respect it, let’s be honest. Hip-Hop when it comes to beef only truly works from animosity and negativity. I’ve never heard of a friendly fade, and even then no one would take it serious no matter how good the artists were. Any rap beef that is etched in your brain have all thrived from personal beef.
I’m fucking cooked, I’m so cooked

You won me over. I'm only vaguely familiar with most of these artist (I'm a very old head) but your breakdowns just, seem like they make valid points 😂

Liked and subbed, now doing my duty for the algorithm. While this is my first stroll through, I stayed til the end bc I do like it here.
Bonus points for incorporating the chart to facilitate a nuanced conversion. 😂 I hope it becomes a trend.
Drake isn't corny he's a snake and a culture vulture who could make waves in rap and up start careers but does the inverse.
Exactly.
He is corny. Using so many accents & styles of hip-hop from which you have no background is top tier corny.
Lmao! I stopped the vid and was trying to listen for an ice cream truck outside before i realized you had a little jingle in the background. 😂

It’s a shame because logic is SUCH a good rapper. He has some albums, like no pressure, that are 10’s
Now I'm wondering what spectrum of corny I'm at 😅

moving drake around at the end got me lmfaooooo
During the Joyner x Logic beef one of my friends said about Logic: "Saying a bunch of nothing really fast doesn't mean good rapping.". Every time I've read lyrics of his after that he always came off as corny and wack to me. Every time Ive been recommended a Logic song it never scratched that itch. Great video though dog, its admirable watching people look after they family. Keep it up.

10/10 ragebait logic cannot be corny when there is carti residing on the same planet.
7:40 atleast he keeps his touching people to the music cant say the same for diddy or Drake
I remember a couple of people were questioning Logic being corny on that poll. 😂
Hopsin may be corny but has some good tracks. Ill Mind 6, Ill mind 9, and Alone with Me are honestly not bad. Hotel in Sydney I like but I could understand it being problematic to some, and Origin Story gives me some hope Hopsin can redeem himself.

glad your back bro
unironically I think Logic is less corny than Joyner Lucas or Kevin Gates
dudes way too positive of a person to justify shitting on him, it feels like kicking a puppy
Been listening to Dax since his first Eminem remix, he hard asf to me and I stand on it 💯🔥
Nothing wrong with that
YSIV is honestly Logic’s best album. It really highlights his unique flow and skills. BT2 is a close second tho hella underrated.

This is so accurate!
Logic is a great rapper dont disrespect him like that
My friend and I ask each other the most gutwrenching 'would you rather' questions.. Like whether we’d rather play one specific corny song from an artist or any song from a whole corny artist’s discography, while the car is packed like sardines with the hoes.
The questions alone give people feelings of secondhand embarrassment 💀
