I have RUclips premium and its value is so much better. It’s like 13 a month but you get ad free music, plus ad free RUclips and some premium bitrate stuff. For the extra 2$ I get all of Spotify premiums features and then my primary entertainment form ad free on top of it. Ion need all dat. And besides, since I listen to mostly the same albums I’m investing in a record setup to listen to them in audio quality that suits my taste anyway, plus I’ll own my hardware and the record itself. Without ads.

Apple Music is cheaper and has noticeably higher sound quality. It is also better for artists. Everyone been should've switched to Apple, I can't believe this was a heated topic of discussion at one point.

These guys are suuuuch pricks, if there was a Prickstar reward they would get it this year, although the competition is really tight this year between Microsoft, Adobe, Meta, Google etc. "Greed is good" they say. This is a bit of a yap sesh so TL;DR: CD/DVD/record good, streaming bad As someone who has rather large record, CD and DVD collections I'm so happy we're moving back to physical media. Interacting with physical media is so much more interesting and fun than just clicking a button on a screen. You have to set up a record player, you have to flip the record, you have the place the needle on the record and I love that interaction. Most of the movies and shows I love I opt to watch via DVD because not only are they not liable to become unavailable because they're either taken off of streaming or I don't have internet access but there are also bonus features that aren't available on the internet. I also spent a whole week only listening to music on my discman, going from album to album beginning to end and I felt so much closer to the music I was listening to than ever before. Whenever I have the spare cash I love going into charity shops and buying a bunch of like 5 cheap second-hand CDs that are usually sold from 50p to £1. It's such a fun thing to spend like 20 minutes looking through what they have and buying what looks the most interesting. That has worked in my favour because not only have I found a new favourite album but I've also found music by local bands and I'm one of the few people to actually listen to that music. It makes the music feel so much more personal and you can interact with it much more intimately. With the intimate aspects, CDs also have a history to them which streaming could never replicate. Who owned it before? What were they like? What sort of life did they lead? Why did it end up in a charity shop? Will I be the last person to listen to this music? That, I feel, is much more meaningful than streaming numbers and follows on playlists. Speaking of playlists, playlists can't even come close the wonderful world of homemade CD mixes. My dad has made plenty over the years and its interesting to listen to them and get to really see where his musical inspiration comes from. I actually made my first CD mix recently and it was so much more fun than making a playlist - you have to really think about the song order and the tracklist because it's permanent, you cant change anything. The choices you make have to be much more meaningful. It's also loads of fun to draw and make your own CD art. You can you can go the full length and design your own album & CD art and make a tracklist and an inlay with its very own jewel case, or it could just be some scribbly writing in black sharpie on the front of a loose disc. Nothing will ever come close to replicating that experience, or any experience with physical media for that matter.

i use streaming but i also buy any albums i love on cd and vinyl, never stopped. having backups of everything is great, i always keep a ton of music on my phone also.

Been using RUclips music since it’s free with the premium subscription, these price increases are starting to make people realize what is really necessary.

I have been using the RUclips music app for years (since RUclips red days). Prefer it over the other streaming apps. It’s not perfect but it’s my favorite.

I haven't even used spotify in years. YT music and soudcloud have way more selection and unreleased music. I don't know why everyone loves spotify so much and then complain that their favorite songs aren't on their platform.
