      It's an honor to be mentioned alongside two of the greats, I thank you for that! I truly owe this video to the Batocera team that made some impressive improvements that made the PK A12/13 so much better. If it wasn't for their hard work this video wouldn't have been possible. I also want to thank you for your kind comments, you were my inspiration to re-visit the PK A12/13 with the latest version of Batocera (v36). I didn't forget about you.

Map A/B/X/Y/START/SELECT/UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT then (L1 & L2 to the blue buttons). Press+hold a button to skip over the Analog, L2/R2/L3/R3. For the Hotkey, press SELECT, then OK.
      Then go into a game/emulator (i.e. Playstation for example). You can press SELECT+B to enter RetroArch. SELECT+X to load a save state. SELECT+Y to save the current game state. The back (sideways U button with an arrow), will still allow exiting a game. Hope that helps!

    Worked on my X10PRO portable model, I assume it's the same chipset, a work around for windows to add games that i've found is to delete the partition on the card for the share drive, format it to exfat, boot it up, it'll take a little longer, then shut down and put the card back into windows, and you'll see the share drive with all the folders to drop your roms into, hope that helps

    Batocera finally got me to pull out my a13 again, I'm struggling to get pico-8 to work with the official version though, I've followed the instructions added the rasp version to bios and added the cfg file to the emulationstation but when I try load a game it just boots back into the menu.

    • @WagnersTechTalk

      My guess is it's missing the bios or the correct bios version. You can run the 'Missing BIOS Check' to verify. If you still have issues, you can reach out on the Batocera Discord or subreddit here: wagnerstechtalk.com/pc-batocera/#Resources . That same page has a lot of Batocera info., mostly for the PC but much of it is applicable to the A13.

    Hello! I am having these issues with Batocera with the Powkiddy a12:
    1. can't get a wifi dongle to work
    2. can't get a external usb controller to be recognized (8-bit do xbox pro 2 wired controller)
    3. HDMI out won't work

    • @WagnersTechTalk

      The dongle shown in this video worked for me. Perhaps it's having difficulty negotiating with your router. On my network, I have 2.4/5Ghz separated into two different SSID's. I connect to the 2.4Ghz here, perhaps something to try. I was able to get a few controllers to work in ES, but during game play they didn't function (only the internal controls). HDMI Output worked here as long as the HDMI connection was connected before powering on. After that, HDMI out worked.

      go into SYSTEM SETTINGS -> VIDEO OUTPUT and make sure it's set for AUTO. Then go into USER INTERFACE MODE and make sure it's set for FULL. That should be it. Worst-case, if not you can clone your microSD to his microSD. It will take more time to do, but here's how to do it if you want to: wagnerstechtalk.com/common/#Backup_Clone_a_Drive . You can likely skip the 'Expand a partition' option, if the cards are both the same size.

      The version on the batocera website is imaged specifically for the PK A12/13. It has some features disabled due to the limited amount of RAM/CPU capability of the device. When you updated to the beta version, it was no longer the device-specific firmware but the general beta firmware which likely won't work properly due to those limitation.

      It seems to depend on the type of games you play. I mostly use it for playing Arcade (MAME) games and it works well. If it freezes up, it's likely that the game(s) you're trying to play may require more hardware resources than are available with the device.

      The version on the Batocera page is the same as was shown here, v35 (older build). Dreamcast and some PSP won't run well on that CPU, remember it only has 512MB of RAM so larger games, graphically intensive games, etc. aren't going to run well or at all. What will run well are older consoles and arcade games (most of them). There isn't currently a Batocera v38 build for the A12/13. If you hover your mouse over the download link, you'll see in the filename it's v35.

    Ive gotten everything installed, do you know whats the hotkey to save state and load state for psx as an example? or have you remapped the controls

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  5 месяцев назад

      You can re-map the buttons by pressing the START button, move to 'Controller & BT Settings' -> 'Controller Mapping' then press+hold a button.

      I have good news and bad news. I was only partially correct. I could map the controller (tried a clone xbox360 and a nes-style gamepad), and could navigate Emulation Station just fine. However after launching a game (Galaga), the controller wouldn't respond, even after setting P1/P2 specifically to the connected controller. I'm not sure if there is a solution for this, I'll mention it to the Batocera devs but can't guarantee a fix/solution.

    i watching this to understand how to install batocera A13/A12.
    however, there is a fourth way.
    first use rufu or etc to flush batocera
    to the new SD card.
    after that copy the entire file to harddisc for the user partition for backup. after that go and for format the user partition.
    next , reformat your user area as fat32, extfat or nfts format.
    next copy the user partition from the copy to the sd card.
    finally, your user partition can easily add games.

    Excellent video. I am planning on using at least two SD cards for games. Do I have to copy the Batocera boot image to each and every SD card in order to run them? If that is the case, will the config be saved to each SD card that the boot image is on so that it will remember my settings when swapping out cards? Your advice would be really helpful as I am going to attempt installing the firmware in the next few days. Thanks.

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  5 месяцев назад +1

      If you plan on running games on multiple microSD cards, then yes you'd need the Batocera OS installed on each + games. I personally would use a larger card and only install to a single card. Then, once everything is exactly how you want it, make a backup of it (just incase of corruption). More details on how to backup/clone a drive can be found here, if you need it: wagnerstechtalk.com/common/

      @WagnersTechTalk  Год назад +1

      Don't recall if I tested Sega Genesis games, honestly. I was primarily interested in Arcade games myself. But did test some others. One thing that may be worth trying is check what file types are supported by the emulator (see the .txt file in the folder) and make sure the files you're copying are supported file types. That's all I can think of. If that doesn't help, reach out to the Batocera subreddit and you may get a better answer: www.reddit.com/r/batocera/
