After trying many other ways to get retro arcade games on my Atgames Legends Pinball, this is the best and easiest way to get it done!!! Thank you Wagner Tech Talk!! This video did the trick 🎉
@WagnersTechTalk could you direct me to a video you might have to add to recent horizontal games from coinops? I am looking for other games like Joost and Missle Command
This is really fantastic. Thanks. Since I have teh ALP Control Panel and really love Golden Tee I took the files from a previous Sauce build. Uce files into Arcade, Png files into Marquee, Logo files, etc. anything I could find to match up. On start up it was all screwed up with no Marquees or Videos showing.Could play games, but everything else looked terrible. I noticed in Cox/Video half of the Golden Tee files, while named correct.y, weren't previewed in the windows folder like all other files. Deleted those bad video files and redid everything again. Now everything works, just no preview video for those games but can still hit Start and play them perfectly with appropriate Marquees and everything. Good enough for me! So, for anyone wanting to port some horizontal games into this build it can be done. Maybe not perfectly if you don't know what you are doing like me, but good enough to be functional and still look stellar. Mr. Wagner at least makes going through the process super easy.
Thank you for your detailed feedback! For the video and images see the last point here, should fix the artwork and video images for you : wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#Troubleshooting . I ran into this the first time I tried, took me a little bit to figure out what I did wrong. It's helped several others also
LOL, Burger King sounds pretty good doesn't it! Glad you found the guide helpful, playing vertical games on the ALP is a lot of fun with the Arcade Control Panel. 😎
Holy cow! It worked! Haha! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this. It worked exactly like i was hoping and really adds another dimension to this machine. You are the man!
Great video. Good addition to the written guide on your website. I just got my ALP and it’s awesome. Got coinops working just fine. Only issue for me is that it’s missing golden tee. Is there a way to add the golden tee games to this build or do I need to get another USB drive and setup a different version of coinops on that drive? Can you run two different versions of coinops on the same drive?
Very happy the video has helped and that you're enjoying your ALP! There are two guides, one for horizontal and the other for vertical (this one). You could do the steps for the horizontal version, then copy over these UCE files and mix the two. I've not personally done that, but don't see why it wouldn't work. Or, setup another USB stick for horizontal. Golden Tee is on the horizontal build.
Thanks so much for this guide, I followed your written instructions it would perfectly. I would like to point out and clarify you can use the same USB stick for Flash Drive X (where purchased tables and @Games Software gets installed) and CoinopX. I was a little hesitant but found the answers. There is no need to back up your thumb drive before you start as all the purchased stuff downloads are fairly quick and easy. Thanks Wagner, worked out perfectly.
Awesome to hear, you're very welcome! If you want more, this is definitely the place to help you: www.reddit.com/r/FansOfsaUCE . Check out their pinned post, lots of info. on adding more games. I personally just play the Arcade games, but there is a lot of info there that should help!
My 3 month old started crying to I got up and didn't pause. When I came back I saw files were being deleted from my computer and my heart skipped a beat until I realized it was just the video still playing
Hello, let me start with a thank you for this great video. I have a simple question not specifically to this CoinOpsX build but regarding the so called CoinOpsX saUCEy Edition I've just installed on my ATgames Legends Ultimate Arcade machine . In that build I miss only a few games from my childhood. Is there a way to add certain games to the USB drive after the setup is done? At least everything works perfectly fine, but I was wondering how to add a single game to this build. Once again, many thanks!
Very welcome and thank you for your kind comment! The best place to ask this question would be here:www.reddit.com/r/FansOfsaUCE . However, I have had to re-package some .UCE files for the Quad Play and documented that here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alqp/#Fix_Games_that_arent_working . It may be helpful for adding additional games that aren't included with this build.
Awesome video. Thank you. I have a question. I seem to have messed up the input settings on a game called Quantum. The trackball was not working on it, so I tried to "fix it" in the advanced settings menu, now I don't seem to have any input in the adv. settings menu anymore. any help or advice? besides never playing that game?
I think you can just re-copy the .uce file over the one that is hosed up. I don't think you'll need to re-run AddOnX Tools (try without), but you might.
Thank you, this tutorial is intended for vertically oriented games. There is a separate guide for horizontal games and partnered with my buddy PDubs to make it available: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsx . This guide has a mix of vertical and horizontal games but intended for horizontal-based devices (ALU, Cores, Max etc.). However, if you're on an ALP many of the horizontal games aren't going to look that good and why the Vertical build exists. Hope that is helpful.
@@WagnersTechTalk After reading through the guide, would it be possible to just add a few horizontal UCE games and run them individually using AddOnX without the bezels and other bells and whistles? I basically want to leave the vertical build in tact and hand pick a few select games to add.
Sure, you could do that. The artwork (if copied) is going to look a bit odd, but the games themselves should play fine. Interesting tip: take a single .uce file, rename it with a .zip extension and check out what's "inside". A .uce file is just a mini-archive of the rom, core and artwork (may need 7-zip to extract it).
Very welcome, there might be in the included .txt files. I can't recall exactly, sorry. If not, check the Fans of SauCE subreddit, may have a list there.
Is there one that has the best vertical games from arcade & console plus pinball all in one? Just got my legends mini arcade & would love a all in one build. Or is there a tutorial for adding a pinball build to this build?
I’m having issues with controls. I’m using the arcade stick addon . For example spy hunter. In advanced config none of my buttons will register for the gas pedal meanwhile the track ball works for steering
Hi Joey, for game-specific issues/questions, please check out the FAQ's here: www.reddit.com/r/FansOfsaUCE . If the issue isn't found, you can post to that forum and the community there can assist better.
Did they ever come up with a fix for the intro ? I have been looking for info on either fixing it or how to just get rid of that and go straight to the games.
Thanks so much! Been really wanting a vertical build for my Legends Gamer. One question, When flipping through the games & watching the previews, the video is extremely slow. (*like slow motion) Is there anything I can do?
Yes, navigating the games can be slow. On the core max/alp/alp micro it's faster since these machines have a faster CPU. However, other devices are slow navigating the menus. Another option is to use the BYOG->AddonX to navigate the games, it is faster there.
Make sure you're working with the correct Removable drive. I have written instructions here that you can use to follow along step-by-step: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv . But to answer your question, yes you will create two separate partitions. Again, make sure you're looking at the Removable drive that you intend to use with the ALP.
THans so much for the tutorial! QUick question though. I have ALP 1.1. I didnt notice there was a different setup process until after I was done doing all the steps. Meaning I did both partitions. I then deleted the Fat32 partition and only kept the Exfat partition. My question is, do I still need to format the usbdrive for flashX on the ALP? Since there is only 1 partition now, wont it erase all the files on the exfat partition?
Right, if you deleted the first partition you don't want to run FDX. You'll instead install CoinOpsX using the internal memory on the ALP and it will find the games on the USB stick (plug into the blue USB 3.0 port).
Hi thanks for this overview. Is the control mapping different on an ALU and on an ALP? The one example for me is the game Quantum, which typically uses a trackball. On the ALP, the joystick is mapped(on the arcade control panel). I'm curious, on the ALU, does the game Quantum use the trackball for movement for you?
I could have sworn I played Quantum with a trackball on the ALU in the past. But I just tried it and no the trackball did not work. Very strange. You may want to post your question here: www.reddit.com/r/FansOfsaUCE . Someone there may know of a work-around or way to get it to work.
Just curious is there a fix yet for this? Works great but the INTRO/STARTUP video is just a bunch of horizontal lines when I push to skip it all is good. GREAT BUILD - THANK YOU !!
I've heard that you can connect an external wired xbox 360 controller and use the start button there to start a 2 player game. I've personally not tried it though.
Got an ALP V1.1. Followed the steps for that, including not making a second partition. Put it in ALP and it worked, but no top marquee when selecting games at menu. Just the game names vertically shown and hard to read. Formated in Flash Drive X and successfully mounted, but now it won't load USB; says NoCoinOpsX files found; check USB and try again. Any ideas?
I think it's firmware 5.68 that removed the on-line requirement. The firmware you're running must be older than that. However, you don't want firmware 5.71 if you want to run COX, it will remove CoinOpsX from AppStoreX but 5.70 won't. You may want to post your question here before updating: www.reddit.com/r/LegendsUltimate/ (I'm running 5.68 on my ALP HD)
Will CoinOpsX work on the new ALP 4K? I am trying to get it to work but none of the buttons work on the games. I am using the Atgames arcade control panel.
RetroPlayer is slated for Jan-April according to the release notes here: www.atgames.net/arcades/release-notes-for-game-packs-and-firmware/ (see H). From there, it will be up to the CoinOpsX team to add support for the RetroPlayer. You may be able to get some to play via BYOG see Settings->Help Desk->BYOG.
got my wopr running on ALP. I cant remember where I saw it, but someone printed out the button mappings and put it over the at games logo. do you know where to get that image file to print?
Hi Brado, I think this is what you're looking for? www.reddit.com/r/LegendsUltimate/comments/svtii5/coinopsx_printable_instruction_banner/ , if there is interest I may make printable versions of this also: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#ALP_with_Arcade_Control_Panel
I have Windows 7 pro. It will not partition removable flash drives or read one that has been partitioned (it only shows the first partition). I switched over to Ubuntu to set up my Coinops flashdrive and when I got to the AddonX step found out the AddonX tool will not work in Linux. Is there an easy work around for this situation?
@@WagnersTechTalk I put the coinopsx build on a usb without partitioning it and ran the AddOnXTool in Windows 7. After doing that I moved the usb contents to a folder in the Linux system desktop and then partitioned the flash drive correctly while in Linux and moved the coinopsx build back onto the usb. That got it working.
CoinOpsX itself is not available on the 4KP. However, the .UCE files will likely launch, but the button mapping will be hit-miss (in my brief testing, mostly miss). I'd hold off on this on the 4KP.
Thanks for the video, very easy to follow and setup. I'm playing on ALP with the control deck. How do you map the controls in game? It doesn't seem to work or at least I can't figure out how to do it.
Thank you for watching! All the buttons should be mapped for you, they were on every device I tried. For a reference card please see here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#ALP_with_Arcade_Control_Panel
Do you know where save files (either states or native game saves) are stored when using BYOG and if there's a way to import or export saves from there?
If you right-click on a .UCE file and unzip it (using 7-zip, for instance) it will extract just like any other .zip file (even though it ends in .uce). It's merely a method of packaging related information for the game. In the extracted sub folder, you'll find a save sub folder which is where the game saves should reside. I can't help much beyond that, other than you can re-package it by zipping it back up and renaming the .zip to .uce. I have a little more information on the process here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alqp/#Fix_Games_that_arent_working
@@WagnersTechTalk Thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately, I tried and it didn't work. There is a save folder when I extract a .UCE file, but it's empty. I can add a .sav to the folder and then re-zip everything and rename .zip to .UCE, but the Legends Ultimate Mini won't detect the games unless I built them with the addon tool. I've used the addon tool before because I'm using roms I've dumped from cartridges myself with the standard BYOG feature (not coinopsx) but it doesn't have a section for saves; just box art, bezel art, emulator core, and game rom. I've also tried opening a .UCE archive with 7zip and dropping a .sav in the save folder there directly, but I get an error. I understand if this is beyond the scope of what you can help with. I emailed Atgames support about it and they actually suggested I go to you. It's just odd since the games clearly do save. If I make a save state or save the normal in-game way while playing on the Legends Ultimate Mini, it's still there the next time I play, but WHERE those save files are stored is a mystery. If I could access that location, I could import saves dumped from the actual cartridges or created when playing the same game on another emulator.
@@WagnersTechTalk I have version 10954_A3 software version 10954_A3 Device Ha2812-060fa4 I cannot pair device so it has to be plugged in. No coinopsx do I need to connect to Wi-Fi or should I download something from archive and if I can pair use USB port with BYOB? Do I use sauce or just roms?
Anyone have tips on how to rectify excessive “buzzing” from the exciters while playing coin ops X with the ALP/arcade stick combo? I’m unable to find any settings on the unit or in game that helps. Thanks.
Hi Lee, one thing I did that seemed to help (not sure why) was to go into Settings --> Pinball Settings and flip the haptics from on/off/on. Give that a try and let me know if it helps for you too. If so, I'll add it to the guide.
Hello there. I am not seeing the game image on my backglass playing games on the legends pinball. Is there a secret to get game images on the backglass? Thanks again for the great tutorial.
Hi Jeff, the only thing I can think of that might cause it is if the image artwork was within two sub folders before running the AddOnX tool. (can sometimes happen when extracting may create a folder within a folder). I'd double-check that all sub folders from the archive are at the root-level on the USB stick. If not, move them there and re-run the AddOnX tool. Should fix the issue. Thank you for watching!
Having an issue on ALP. Set up a usb stick with two partitions. One 16gb fat32, 1 the rest of 128gb exfat. Loaded the files per guide. Set up flash drive x. Installed coinopsx. Restarted alp. Went to launch coin opsx. Screen flashes black for a second. Screen returns to coin ops x launch screen. Button presses result in moving away from that screen. Tried resetting, no luck. Using a v1 alp, firmware 5.68.0. Please help if you can.
When you ran the AddonX Tool, did it show a summary of all the roms that were processed? If not, see the last item here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv . It could be an antivirus application interfered with the processing and AddOnX Tool terminated before completed. I ran into this issue.
AddonX completed properly. No antivirus was running. The weird part seems to be that coin opsx won’t boot on the ALP. I would think that coinopsx would boot even if the games were not readied properly? Another interesting bit: in the appstorex, when looking at coinopsx, instead of a green checkmark, there is a blue refresh circle. I tried hitting updaton coinopsx, didn’t resolve the failure to load.
Interesting, I'm running 5.68 and it's fine. Try posting your issue here: www.reddit.com/r/FansOfsaUCE . Perhaps someone else may have an answer. I can't think of anything else, unless there is something wrong with the USB stick itself.
So I recently set up my ALP with a PC. I’ve got that PC loaded with pinup popper and several pinball tables. Since I wasn’t having luck at installing coinopsx on the alp, I was wondering if I could set it up on the PC and launch it in popper. Thoughts?
Great stuff! So I'm assuming this is a build with "only" vertical games? Like for example horizontal games like Mortal Kombat won't be included? (I like the previous version for the ALP... just wanted proper artwork for it for a vertical setup).
Thank you for watching Terry! Yes, vertical-only games are part of this build (no Mortal Kombat, etc.) I've not personally tried this, but I did read where someone took their horizontal build, copied all the vertical build folders on top of that build, re-ran AddOnX Tool and had both horizontal and the new vertical artwork running. Might be worth giving that a try if you want both. I'm keeping the vertical-only build on the ALP/ALUM, but the horizontal build on the ALU myself. If you try it, let me know how it works for you. I may also give it a try at some point.
@@WagnersTechTalk Yah, some people have larger vertical monitors that are the width of a big sized 4x3 display... so having a complete set for all games in this setup would be very handy since it includes the marquee/control panel, etc. I also thought about just combining the media from both to make it work... as for many people thats all they want.
@@TerryRed How did it work for you? I got ahead of myself and got 5-is-Alive first before realizing I needed WOPR w/Cheese for ALP. So now I'll have both downloaded.
Using AddOnTool 1.0.19 (latest) and when I run it, I do not get the “build process” when it ends. Tried the entire process at least 4 times from start to finish and each time the same result. Not sure what’s wrong.
Hi thanks a lot for the tutoriel , when applying addonx on by exfat usb part I have "Error 1. The uce file format is abnormal. Failed" for all files, any idea of the rootcause ?
I have the ALP and legends ultimate 1.2 I was wandering do I need to downgrade the firmware or is atgames working on a fix for the usb games to do the sauce and purchase tatio Vol 3
I recorded this video using the latest available firmware 5.65.0 (on the ALP/ALUM, the Max has no update available yet). I'm not sure what fixes/updates are coming in the next update.
Thank you for the tutorial! It's working, but I have a few issues though. First of all, not all the logos are showing for some reason. The png files are there, and the names are matching with the UCE files but even then, the logos are not showing up for some games. Other, very annoying problem is when I start a game, and quit via the Home button, another game is starting randomly without my input. This continues in a loop, and I'm then forced to reboot the machine. The USB key is a new Samsung 64GB 3.0, and I made several new copies on the key, but the same issues are still there.
@@WagnersTechTalk Thank you for pointing this out. Unfortunately, this is not the issue: the structure is ok, no duplicated folders. And only a few games have this issue, not all.
Your guide is great and I set up the USB for my ALP with no issues. I have the control panel. The only problem is that scrolling through the menu, the selection goes to different letter randomly. I am using Z and C as it says in the guide. I could be at the letter P and hit Z button to go up and it will jump to letter C. Not sure where I went wrong. TIA for any suggestions.
@@WagnersTechTalk Hi. Thanks for the reply. That was exactly it. I actually figured it out just after I posted the question. It was driving me crazy! Your videos are great. Thanks for all the hard work!
I purchased some prepartitioned CoinOpsX drives from etsy but after I assembled the Legends Ultimate arcade, flashdriveX is not in the settings, nor is there even a category for AppstoreX. What could be wrong on this arcade for neither of these options? I appreciate any assistance on what I can do or who I can contact to remedy this situation on this arcade.
Hi Kevin, the Flash Drive X app. and AppStoreX tab (top menu) is all part of the firmware built-in to the machine. That is, it doesn't come from the USB thumbdrive. Make sure you've logged in with your Legends ID+pwd, then navigate to the Settings tab and page through until you see Flash Drive X. There are about 5 different pages of settings, maybe you're just looking at the first one?
Loving the build and playing it on my Legend Mini. Thank you for posting this video as it was a very good and simple guide to follow. Is there any update available or coming soon for adding cheats that work and save in CoinOps as they do for CoinOps Vertical build in windows 10? Which also seem to be more expanded on there cheat menu like infinite lives and invincible even per player basis. Those can be fun to try on games you just want to continue playing vs starting over and over which is great also vs quarters spent. Keep up the great videos. Subbed...
Thank you, happy to hear it was helpful to you! Are you playing on Ultimate Mini or Gamer Mini? I don't find out about new features/releases of CoinOpsX packs until they are announced by the chefs. I don't know what's coming and what features will exist in the next version. But, I do try to keep the guides updated.
@@WagnersTechTalk Gamer Mini. After the latest update from Atgames the build is not there in it's CoinOpsX interface and only allows you to select the games in the Atgames interface. Did they block the program? Or do I need to redo the setup again and see if that fixes it?
I can't for the life of me get my second partition to become usable. It shows up as an * and will not allow me to explore or view contents. It's a PNY 3.0 128GB USB drive. Have used several disk partition tools, including the PI imager and command line below, but still results in only seeing the first partition. Thoughts or feedback welcomed.
When you say show up, when you go through the steps to delete the partition and then create the two partitions do those succeed? Make sure you've disconnected any other USB drives before attempting. Try re-formatting the USB stick using Pi Imager as FAT32 then re-try (here's how: wagnerstechtalk.com/common/#Format_as_FAT32_Pi_Imager ). If it doesn't work, I'm going to have to lean towards something wrong with the 128GB drive. Might also re-try all the above after a reboot. All I can think of!
@@WagnersTechTalk thank you for responding. It succeeded to an extent. I can see the two partitions, but windows only recognizes the first and the second partition cannot be formatted because windows only recognizes the first. Is it possible to run the games off of a single partitioned USB device?
Thanks for your video. I currently have the its alive version on my usb. Can I simply add this version to my current built or do I need to have its own usb for it? Also, I have a 64GB Flashdrive. Do u recommend me using it or should I stick to a 128GB or higher? Thanks in advance
I haven't personally tried "mixing" the two builds myself. I'd recommend placing them on the 64GB Flash drive with a 16GB FDX partition so you have one for vertical-only and one for everything else. I hesitate to say you can mix them since I've not tried it.
@@WagnersTechTalk ok perfect. Thank you for your reply. I will do just that and keep them separate. If you ever find out we can, please let me/us know. Thank You again
@@WagnersTechTalk I forgot to ask one more thing…do I need to unmount my usb from the puck to use on another atgames device, I’m upgrading to the legends cabinet from the mini and I have others around the house I want to play my games on.
Yep, unmount then remove the USB drive. Keep in mind, wherever you move it to you'll need to re-run FDX (format/mount) and re-download any pinball tables. Just a heads-up before the move.
This worked perfect and games load and play much better than the last build, thank you so much, only issue i have is no video preview of games, Any thoughts or advice, i tried formatting drive and starting all the way over with same result, avi files are in the video folder
Great news and you're very welcome! At 11:41, you can see video playback. Perhaps you deleted them from the main archive by accident rather than the USB drive? If so, just re-extract the update archive and copy the C:\CoinOpsX\CoinOpsX Vertical WOPR With Cheese Update Pack 1\cox\video to the \cox\video sub folder on the USB drive. Hopefully, that's the issue.
I actually just formatted and started from the very beginning and then ran it and verified videos are in folder on usb. Plugged it in alp and turned it on. Started coinopsx and it displays a coinops x symbol where the videos should play. Tried multiple games and they load and play fine. I’m stumped
Honestly, I'm stumped as well. I've gone through the process ~5+ times during the course of testing/documenting and not once had an issue with videos not playing. However, in all cases using the Samsung USB drive mentioned. Only other suggestion, try a different USB drive, if you have one handy (64GB at a minimum with a 16GB FDX partition). If you do and/or find the issue let me know and I'll add it to a troubleshooting section on the guide.
The artwork packs aren't necessarily CoinOpsX-specific. They are based on the filename of the games. Here's some you can try that I'm aware of: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-bitlcd/#Artwork_Packs
I deleted the volume on my removable drive, but cannot create a new simple volume. My computer recognizes the drive as usb drive "E" but says, please insert a disk when I click it. I tried to reformat but windows says cannot format. Any suggestions?
Try unplugging the drive and plugging it back in and try again. Should allow creating a simple volume, so long as the drive is connected and isn't defective.

@@WagnersTechTalk Hopefully. Would you say this build is the best for the mini or is it better to just use CoinopsX v5 is still alive that has a vertical category in the playlist?
I managed to go through all the steps and get this installed on my ALP and it works fine except for there is a lot of popping and crackling in the audio for a lot of the games. Donkey Kong is one of them which is one of my favorites. But the bad audio makes it not as fun to play. Pac-Man sounds normal. Has anyone else experienced this?

Can anyone confirm for me that CoinOpsX has the EA Sports games from the sega genesis? I want to play the old NBA and NHL games on a big stand-up style machine
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. You don't have to update the Cheese version, if you don't want these fixes/updates: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#Differences_from_Previous_Build
@@WagnersTechTalk I'm sorry my question didn't make sense! I guess you can only have the standard build or the vertical build, right? Thanks for taking the time to respond
lol, np. I've seen one individual that said he copied the new vertical build files on top of his previous CoinOpsX SaUCEy build, re-ran the AddOnX tool and it was fine. I've not personally tried that and can't confirm at this time. My personal opinion, if I'm going to want to play vertical-only games on the ALP/ALUM I'd likely stick (pun intended) with the vertical WOPR w/Cheese build on those machines and the SaUCEy edition for the ALU. It's really a matter of preference though.
@@WagnersTechTalk Thanks for clarifying! I'm currently using a Legends Gamer Mini with a rotating monitor and was wondering if I could easily have the best of both worlds. 👍
Got it. If I recall correctly, there was a firmware release where the button id's changed. Then, it was reverted back in subsequent updates. I can't say for sure if it was 5.49, I didn't keep a record of it. But that "might" be the reason. @@WagnersTechTalk Thank you for looking into it. I’ll give in and update. I was holding back in order to preserve the the original Atgames Tatio pinball tables before they made changes to a few of them.
I followed all the steps and still can't get this to work. One possibly odd thing that happened: When I ran AddOnX to build the different tables it closed by itself with it was done. I tried again and it did the same thing. When I plugged my flash drive into my ALP I ran FlashDriveX, formatted, and loaded in my purchased machines. I loaded in CoinOpsX, turned the machine off and tried launching it. I was told that I don't have any CoinOpsX files. I tried two more times shutting off the machine and trying CoinOpsX again, but still no luck. Any idea on what I can try? Thanks!

The version I downloaded was coinops-x-arcade-version-5-is-still-alive-saucey-edition-full-fixed-build.
@@WagnersTechTalk at 6:49 in the video you deleted those avi files and a bunch of other files when applying the update pack but pdubs doesnt do this in his video should i follow his video and not delete them or delete them as you did?
@@WagnersTechTalk i guess basically what im asking is if you deleted the files at 6:49 and all those uces anyways and then recopy them from the update pack wouldnt it make more sense to just copy the update pack over to begin with without deleting the files? i would imagine it updates the build either way and i never have had to delete anything when updating the coin ops build on my legends ultimate i basically would just copy the files from the update and rerun the add on tool
It was the recommendation from the saUCE folks, their documentation is what I went by. Making sure that what's on the stick doesn't have any leftover artifacts and is a clean installation. It's been about a year, so my memory could be a bit off, but that's what I remember 😀
@WagnersTechTalk thanks! I'll just try what I think will work out and just copy the update over the files without deleting and see if that works or not if it does I will post back here to let others know :)

I'm confused, the version 10951_A10 is the initial version that is pre-installed when you receive the machine. You then connect to your WiFi, login with your e-mail/password (Sign in), then go to the Version tile and update the firmware. Once updated, when you navigate to the Settings -> version app. you'll see only "Version: 5.65.0" under the tile. Is that what you're seeing or are you seeing 10951_A10?
Really appreciate your tutorial, work the first time and so so cool playing vertical games on my ALP.

@@WagnersTechTalk what minimum size usb stick do we need for this build?!
After trying many other ways to get retro arcade games on my Atgames Legends Pinball, this is the best and easiest way to get it done!!! Thank you Wagner Tech Talk!! This video did the trick 🎉
Very welcome, happy to be of assistance!
@WagnersTechTalk could you direct me to a video you might have to add to recent horizontal games from coinops? I am looking for other games like Joost and Missle Command
Nice straightforward explanation of the process. Thanks for taking the time to make this information available.
Very welcome and thank you for watching Lee!

Happy to do it, thank you for your kind words!
Holy cow! It worked! Haha! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this. It worked exactly like i was hoping and really adds another dimension to this machine. You are the man!
Happy it helped you out! Feel free to share it with anyone who else it might help 😊
Worked like a charm on my ALP, thanks for all you do.

Very welcome, thank you for your kind comment and feedback!
Does the flash drive need to remain in the Legends Ultimate mini, and does the machine need to be online to play the usb drive games? Thank you!
Yes, Flash drive needs to remain in the ALUm but no, online isn't necessary.
Thank you sir!
Awesome, glad to hear it was helpful and very welcome!
Did you find step by step instructions for that somewhere?
What an excellent guide! Worked like a charm. Thanks WTT!
By chance, is there a guide if we want to add games to this build?
Awesome to hear, you're very welcome! If you want more, this is definitely the place to help you: www.reddit.com/r/FansOfsaUCE . Check out their pinned post, lots of info. on adding more games. I personally just play the Arcade games, but there is a lot of info there that should help!
My 3 month old started crying to I got up and didn't pause. When I came back I saw files were being deleted from my computer and my heart skipped a beat until I realized it was just the video still playing
lol, that would scare the crap out of me too 😀
First I wanna say I Iove your channel. Was wondering if you’ve seen then coin ops collection arch’s pinball bud. If so, will it wor k on the alp?
Hi Ryan, thank you for your kind words and support! I've heard of the build, but haven't personally tried it.
Great tutorial! Both detailed and easy to follow. Can you explain how to add select horizontal games to the build once up and running?
Great job as usual ...Mr. Wagner thanks
Thank you Al, much appreciated!
What is the difference from previous build? Added more games only ? Do you save the old build / usb drives or overwrite them?
Great questions Rob, I added them here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#Differences_from_Previous_Build
Nice tutorial, I rung the bell and subbed.
Appreciate it Papa Brad's Gaming, thanks for watching and the sub!
Thanks for this walk through. Worked perfectly. Is there a list of the games included?
Very welcome, there might be in the included .txt files. I can't recall exactly, sorry. If not, check the Fans of SauCE subreddit, may have a list there.
Thanks. I was able to locate one
Is there one that has the best vertical games from arcade & console plus pinball all in one? Just got my legends mini arcade & would love a all in one build.
Or is there a tutorial for adding a pinball build to this build?
This video and guide is for adding classic vertical arcade games to your alp/alp micro or alum
Awesome videos! Can you run custom pinball tables this easily on the legends pinball machine without having to hook up a pc? thanks again
Thank you! A PC will be needed for playing other pinball tables. You may find some helpful information on this page: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp-mod1
Not to my knowledge, unfortunately.
Hello. Do I need to separate the partitions? I’m using Windows 8, and I cannot delete the (E:) volume. The option is grayed out.
@@WagnersTechTalk will do, thanks for testing.
It would be nice to have vertical and horizontal games too
Just curious is there a fix yet for this? Works great but the INTRO/STARTUP video is just a bunch of horizontal lines when I push to skip it all is good. GREAT BUILD - THANK YOU !!
Very welcome Rich! I'm not aware of a fix for the video startup image, unfortunately.
How do you access 2 player mode for games like Galaga and the pinball machine? There are no P1 or P2 button?
I've heard that you can connect an external wired xbox 360 controller and use the start button there to start a 2 player game. I've personally not tried it though.
Got an ALP V1.1. Followed the steps for that, including not making a second partition. Put it in ALP and it worked, but no top marquee when selecting games at menu. Just the game names vertically shown and hard to read. Formated in Flash Drive X and successfully mounted, but now it won't load USB; says NoCoinOpsX files found; check USB and try again. Any ideas?
Please see the last point here, you likely have duplicated sub folders after extracting/copying wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#Troubleshooting
Hello, I can't get coinops to load unless I'm connected to wifi, any suggestions? Thank you!
@@WagnersTechTalkthanks John. I appreciate the help.

You're going to need a Win10/11 PC, AddOnXTool does not run under Linux.
Does this work on the 4KP? Watching the video now and hoping I can do this when my arcade control panel gets here on Monday.
I just bought a atgames legends gamer mini. Getting it tomorrow does the new software still let you not use coinopsx?
COX was removed from AppStoreX on firmware version 5.71. 5.70 should be fine.
Hello Mr. Wagner, that seemed to be the trick. It’s not perfect but now the cabinet doesn’t feel like it will shake itself apart. Thanks once again!
Thoughts?
great guide, thanks!
Glad it helped!
@@WagnersTechTalk Now if only they'd fix that weird coinopsx start page, that like-i'm-trying-to-watch-cinemax-in-the-80s start screen is nasty.
Is there a CoinOpsX build that will work with vertical and horizontal on the Mini depending on how the screen is rotated?
Closest is this one wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsx/

Please see the very last point here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#Troubleshooting It's likely the reason for the missing artwork.

Hi Kevin, the Flash Drive X app. and AppStoreX tab (top menu) is all part of the firmware built-in to the machine. That is, it doesn't come from the USB thumbdrive.
I manged to get this working on my mini in 2024 its hard to find the files though due to the internet archive being down :(
Looks like IA will be back up in a few days, glad you were able to get it working!
Will do, the guide will be update if it works out (the changelog at the bottom will identify any changes I've made).
I thought that as well but they are still on the usb and correct folder
Did you try re-running the AddOnX tool from the root of the USB drive?
If you do and/or find the issue let me know and I'll add it to a troubleshooting section on the guide.
is there a bitlcd available for this?
The artwork packs aren't necessarily CoinOpsX-specific. They are based on the filename of the games. Here's some you can try that I'm aware of: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-bitlcd/#Artwork_Packs
Thanks for the video. I'm getting a black screen not the game logo on the backglass. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks again.
Hey Jeff, I already replied to your question. Please see your other post.
@@WagnersTechTalk Didn't work, computer sees the drive but cannot do anything with it
What's the model number (or link) to the drive you're using?
@@WagnersTechTalk It's a sandisk 3.0 usb 32 gig stick. I bought a 2 pack. The other one has zaccaria pinball. This malfunctioning one was working with some uce games, luckily I backed it up.
Interesting, try formatting it using Pi imager - if you don't mind. Here's how: wagnerstechtalk.com/common/#Format_as_FAT32_Pi_Imager
Hi new here john also could i use this on a legens pinball mini also?
Sure, you can use it with the ALPu. It's mentioned/demonstrated in the video and guide on this page: wagnerstechtalk.com/alpmicro
10months later & startup screen still not fixed?
I know, bummer. But a new version is coming early this year that might fix it.
Yes, you will hear that from time to time.
@@WagnersTechTalk How do you get Galaga to start? I use the start button and start with the joystick down direction as well and it only adds credits. No buttons will get it to start? This is the only game I have found that is doing this. And thanks for the great video!
Just did a quick test with Galaga. Press the Play/Start button twice, game started right up (Galaga Fast shoot). If you need a quick reference card for CoinOpsX, see here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#CoinOpsX_Reference_Card (recommend printing on glossy photo/brochure paper).
Can anyone confirm for me that CoinOpsX has the EA Sports games from the sega genesis? I want to play the old NBA and NHL games on a big stand-up style machine
Is this an either/or option with the previous build?
Anyone else have issues pressing left or right to select games? It changes categories and not games. No way to select games.
No issues here. Are you using the Arcade Control Panel? Also, what FW is running on the ALP?
@@WagnersTechTalk Playing it on a Gamer Pro portrait mode on firmware 5.49.
Got it. If I recall correctly, there was a firmware release where the button id's changed. Then, it was reverted back in subsequent updates. I can't say for sure if it was 5.49, I didn't keep a record of it. But that "might" be the reason. All the known issues (that I'm aware of) are here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#Known_Issues and were based on v5.65.0 (latest).
Found this, see under the v5.49 section: arcades.atgames.net/universal-firmware-update There are a number of references regarding CoinOpsX, not sure if they exactly relate to your issue.
Thanks!
Just wondering if AddOnX ran out of storage on the flash drive while running? What size drive are you using and how large of a FDX partition did you make? How much allocated for COX?
@@WagnersTechTalk I am having the same issue. I have the 256g set up just like the video.
@@christopherbosshardt131 When you copy the folders over, make sure there are no duplicate folder names. As long as the download was extracted, the files have been copied to the correct partition and the AddOnX Tool was run against the correct partition, you should be good.
Heading to best buy for a USB stick now! Whats the minimum size we need for this build?
64GB would be the minimum, please see here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#Prerequisites
@@WagnersTechTalk I just got the 64gb. When I do the partitions, what allocation numbers do I use? You had a 256gb, but I have a 64gb. I didn't understand what size to allocate each partition if I only have a 64gb...please help! I'm a newbie LOL
@@timl7582 16384, it's in the guide here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsxv/#Prepare_USB_Drive
@@WagnersTechTalk oh crap... Since I had a 64gb, I halfed what the video showed for 128gb, which was 8192. Does that mean I just wasted all this time? I'm currently building the stick, I'm on the addonx step... 😩
@@timl7582 You may be fine, it just means you have 8GB set aside for pinball tables. If you get any errors about out of storage at some point in the future, that's why. May not happen for awhile.
Sounds like a burger-time specific build to me. 🤣
Doh!! I should have added some game-play of burger time to the video LOL
Am I wrong or does this whole process seem unnecessarily convoluted? lol
Could it have been implemented easier, likely so. Is it worth it, totally!
@@WagnersTechTalk I am having terrible luck with it. Many of the games have static popping sounds, likely due to the monitor's refresh rate, which on my mame cab, the only fix was getting a monitor that do 75 hz. It also freezes very frequently when toggling through the games. I made sure my system was to the current software rev. The version I downloaded was coinops-x-arcade-version-5-is-still-alive-saucey-edition-full-fixed-build.
so my question is why do you need to do that file delete thing? i watched pdubs a bit and he didnt do it at all so is it necessary or not really?
At what timestamp, so I know what you're asking? In the format of mm:ss where mm=minutes and ss=seconds.
I'll just try what I think will work out and just copy the update over the files without deleting and see if that works or not if it does I will post back here to let others know :)
can not change button mapping for "A B and X buttons " only navigate Coinops but noone can play a game., Everyone Can Not Use 3rd party controller's. Atgames . only can use preparty stuff Atgames only sells
Hey, my version don't have the appstoreX , how I get the coinopsX app?
No AppStoreX... what device are you trying to use? If it's a Legends device, what version firmware?
@@WagnersTechTalk it's a Legends gamer pro , version 10951_A10 . V5.65
@@WagnersTechTalk I reinstalled the software again and it worked, thanks for the assistance. I really appreciate your guides 💪🏼
