- I am here on NFL Head Coach 09 with a new series. I am taking over the Miami Dolphins with coach Harley Jean-Charles. After all these years, I'm finally doing a series on this game.

Yo? Stick with this series! It's gonna take a lot of grinding to get this team good. This series is a great piece of content to have on your channel since the COV virus is out and people need stuff to watch.
Pro tip : you can watch movies at flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies these days.

This is the madden game that should be remastered. This is awesome as hell.
This game was so deep it just took forever to actually play. However, If madden could put half of what was in this game it would be so much better.
The features that didn't make it into Madden were a huge missed opportunity. The lead designer of HC09 moved over to Madden as the Franchise Mode lead after this game was finished. He was responsible for the Connected Franchise Mode overhaul. I believe the only parts he brought over from Head Coach were the crafted draft classes which were later abandoned. And the progression system which I still think is flawed.
I don't know if they ever explained why they didn't incorporate more of HC09 in Madden. If I had to guess, maybe they thought it was too deep/complicated.
@@tropicten I can tell you exactly why: Because they put more effort into MUT packs than they do anything else in the game. They could very easily bring stuff over from this game to Madden 20, but instead, they're counting the revenue from those packs with the same 73 overall players with 656 awareness and 5.2 speed.
@@Jrodsly CFM was developed before MUT even existed. So it doesn't explain why they decided to leave so many Head Coach 09 features out when they first developed it. But I absolutely agree with you that CFM never received the improvements it deserved because of MUT. Revenue generating modes are the priority and that sucks for the rest of us.
@@tropicten and its all cause EA knows that cause of MUT youtubers and their fans and others are gonna keep that mode alive by basically gambling hundreds to thousands of dollars on the MUT Mode Meanwhile fans of madden have had public outcries for years for better franchise(for played and coach and GM modes) and they never listen, last time Franchise mode was good was from 08-2012, 13 and 25 were okay but let downs after that madden just turned into a reskined previous madden and they'd take one or two features out then bring one back years later(cough pro bowl cough)
Given the learning curve of this game, it would probably make sense to start with a better team
Also better playbooks, better time management, slower in game clock, faster bidding instincts, etc...

The problem is you started pre season and chose a new playbook. If you’re gonna have your own playbook you’ve gotta start at the draft. If you choose preseason like you did here, keep their original playbook for the year and change it in the offseason
I really wanted to see this series go to the draft. SUCKS that the team can’t do anything to help
@MrHurriicaneLP josh johnson is a cheat code...try finding him in your league. Focus more on linebackers and dbs for your team. Those are the crazy weaknesses for that dolphins team. I used to play this game a lot. And I agree that if they kept this idea rolling...madden franchise would be insane.

The amount of real time that I've invested in this game is disheartening. I could have learned valuable skills. So worth it though. Hopefully there's a new one of these games coming soon!
This game is very deep, but it's also a challenge, especially if your first attempt is to rebuild the Dolphins. I'm currently working on a spreadsheet with draft notes for every draft class in the game, but I'm still a ways off.
It's legit really difficult to build from a bad team in this game while you're still figuring things out. You should probably start over with a mid tier team.

This is how Cane does his Series' he starts with a bad team then rebuilds it to how he sees fit as far as filling team needs..etc. That's why it's called a REBUILD. It wouldn't be a rebuild if he started with an already stacked team.
@@ThePixarDude but NFL HC is incredibly hard to rebuild if you don't actually know what you're doing. This isn't madden where you can turn miami into SB champs in 2 seasons
It was difficult when I was a teenager. I never made it past the first season. I would always choose Atlanta or miami and start in the offseason. Then I put this game in a few years back with increased knowledge of football and was significantly easier. I would suggest when creating a coach to get the charisma special trait (if I remember correctly). This was a game changer for me and made it a lot easier to keep my job. On the current game I am playing I am a defensive guru. I always choose a blitz heavy defense for example Rex Ryan 4-6. And a run based offense. Using all draft picks on defense for the most part and trading all players for more picks. If u simulate every game u will be fired no matter what. The key is to play 2 or 3 games ur first season. One of the downsides of this game is the game changing decisions. No matter the circumstance being aggressive is so much more beneficial to ur approval rating than being conservative. I'm aggressive so it don't bother me too much. Play a few games hopefully winning those games with the positive game changer benefit and u should keep ur job at 2-14 or 3-13. Now in my second year with a heavy draft (always build through draft) I'm 3-1 after beating the stacked pats who had McFadden as well as desean jackson. The blitz is too much for offenses to stop always resulting in sacks,tfls and forced fumbles. Love the game and could go on all day about it.
I pulled out my Coach 09 for PS3 out. Looked at it. Then turned on my PS4 to play my Madden 20. 😆 I just decided to revisit Coach 09 and give it another chance. Coach 09 was an horrible online because people figured out glitches really fast. Yes. This game was and is still hard.
I don’t think you are going to get fired, when I played this game I got to an approval rating of 10 or something like that and the team wanted me back so you are fine
So, if you had started from the draft, you could've gotten a QB who was rated low, but had a potential near 90 with very good learning

The biggest issue is the lack of mastery of the playbook. Please don't give up on this series if you get canned. I think you can pull this off if you stick with whatever game plan that preset comes with the team you choose. Good luck Cane

This game is so fun to watch and I would love if you get a good series out of it. But we all can agree that as you are still learning the Dolphins is too big of a challenge. Pick a mid-tier to even high-tier team and let's compete and in the same time draft some gems.
The game did tell you if you wanted a new playbook EVERY PLAYER would need to re-learn EVERYTHING

I think changing your playbook at the start is what really doomed your team this season. The game warned you about it as well, changing the playbook means everyone on the team has to learn the new plays which in this game seems like it could take roughly a year of real time
Couple of things. Never practice a single play in preseason. Always go on a rotating basis between your offense/defense rookies.
If you get fired in this save, start another one with a little more put together team. Now that you learned the game a little
i think its because you started with a whole new playbook/system the players didnt learn their plays quick enough.
If he had started from the offseason he would be fine, but handing out a new playbook 12 days before the first game of the preseason is a recipe for disaster

I've played it a lot knowledge is very important if your team reaches mastered to get a bonus to their abilities learn rating will mean they're less likely to miss the play up keep grinding it'll get easier if you restart go through the draft do not sim don't forget to upgrade your coaching staff as well that does help out significantly

If Madden 21 can implement this type of setup for Franchise mode as far as contracts and scouting goes. I would honestly Love Madden all over again. Its literally been the same for a LOOOONNNGGGG time. We should legit petition for Madden 21 to do franchise mode to set it up like this please.

You're making me want to pick this up! I was never interested when these were release, but Madden was decent back then.
I'm sure many others know this, but there are certain "cheats" that will make the game a lot easier.
Also, go through all the team building options, and you can change the style of all your positions, which changes the ratings and potential of each player
and you should have used Jason Taylor to (possibly) trade for Carson Palmer, Patrick Willis or Calvin Johnson
100% should start this over either with a new team or with starting in the draft i feel like canes way to green to use a team as hard as the fins

wish they had a new game like this. love the series so far.
if you go to team philosophies, on your clipboard, you can set the archetype for each position and create your own scheme. then your players overall and potential ratings will change to reflect how they fit into that scheme. you can change a lot about how your team operates from the philosophies screen. it's always the first thing I set.
player potential is key in this game.
the performance tree in the coaching skills and the (i think it's called) gamefilm analysis in special skills are must buys.

At this point you might have to restart but use what you know now. One suggestion I have is that you restart and keep the playbook you start out with so that you don’t have to learn every play. And you should also change your special skills and get more of those instead of the normal skills.

After watching NTE's Head Coach series its weird to see the Jets without Darren McFadden and Andre Dawson
In HC09 a Player's potential is determined by what philosophy you have at that position. Henne probably looks good because your default Philosophy is a Strong Armed QB that only cares about THP. Most people that know this game switch that philosophy to pure passer which values all of their skills as a passer. Mobile would value the QB's running stats.

I usually start with the draft
When you practice plays you can do groups of plays like quick pass, or inside run, or play action. That’s why your play knowledge is so low.

This isn't backwards compatible for the Xbone. You'd need your 360.

Ted Ginn can actually be a pretty good WR with his speed and decent hands. Problem is getting the ball to him. He might work out best as your slot guy. You got almost nothing else as far as WR. Just about everyone on the Dolphins have horrible hands.

I've always wanted to see a series revolved around this game. I find the various madden series I have run into to be lacking because Madden is about as shallow as a puddle, and often times the youtuber/twitch streamer who is playing makes up for his piss poor team building/ strategy with his ability on the sticks. I've always wondered how some of them would do in a game where they cannot cheese deep In routes

You honestly made this way too hard for yourself. First run you chose the HARDEST TEAM. Not ok with a BRAND NEW COACH. Go pick an average team with a coach that doesnt exist in the league anymore to replace. Somewhere that gives you a decent staff, posted a link on the last video to know exactly how good each staff is from the beginning before you select a team. You should honestly do a bunch of reading on this game before starting it over COMPLETELY. Its worth playing all 16 seasons for each draft path(4 of them). Play every single down. You will be able to do better than the cpu and pick more of your playbook. The cpu will only call like 10 different plays, raising the usage too high, the other teams call plays to stop it. This game is extremely intricate, EVERYTHING matters. This game is not for simming. Down the road when you know it in and out, you can sim in later seasons when your coach and staff are much better. But this game is all about being a HEAD COACH over everything. Having FULL CONTROL of how the entire team is run, the philosophy of every positon. You have to know what you're doing to truly appreciate and enjoy it. Operation Sports forum has a BUNCH of great info. I wrote a lot of great in-depth strategy posts. You can search my banned names(I was kind of a dick sometimes). Algoody421, Byron Yatch, Vtownwaves, Fairbanks Freeze. I promise anyone who does THE HOMEWORK FIRST is gonna fall in love with this game, good and bad.
