      I have to admit I got a little teary eyed about 30 seconds into the 3rd song, Floyd the Barber, just to see how a special time it was for them (the band), and the energy the crowd felt. Ah nostalgia. It was a special time. Wished I got to have seen them...tried once when they were New York but no luck...

      AndreasIreland Axl (Bill Bailey) Rose, was / is a painfully insecure man who was simply threatened by Cobain. He had no sense of irony and couldn't even get along with with his band mates; sang about woman and drugs - how original, Axl.

    • @mrseaturtle8915
      @mrseaturtle8915 7 лет назад

      AndreasIreland Fair enough - but suffice to say Cobain clearly wrote from a place that was far more interesting and creative. This said, despite his shortcomings, Rose was an incredible frontman - one of the best.

      Joe Guitar Surreal therefore to see this crowd getting down the probably unheard, unreleased track 'Smells like teen spirit'.
      Part of this show made it clearer to me how they made the transition from Bleach to Nevermind, a jump I thought huge in terms of song composition and theme. 'Drain You' here seems perhaps something of a transition song (though more catchy in an orthodox sense than the Bleach songs featured) though Teen Spirit was already a new chapter.
      Funny that they reproduced that little vocal skit from Novoselic at the start of 'Territorial P*ssings'.

      BRob 2015 Really, many songs after bleach if slowed down with less distortion could have easily been "Pop" songs and not "Grunge". If I am not mistaken Kurt even said as much. There was definitely a catchy poppy sound that I think attracted many of their later fans.

    He brought us the power of revolution, planted the seed and then made his way back. The last album in utero shows just that, in utero itself means inside the womb. He was returning to where he longed for a state of peace and rest for his soul hence the band name NIRVANA. He truly was a very very great person utter brilliance and that channeled right to us, he left us something very special. We were lucky to witness his personal rise to finding inner peace which in the end he did find. May you forvever be remembered Kurt Cobain!

    "Floyd The Barber" = song about The Andy Griffith Show. And frankly, the characters in it weren't always truthful and sometimes Andy lied or caused people to believe things that weren't real E.G. the episode where Andy and Ellen *faked a robbery* to try raising Barney's self-confidence. (Barney was considering turning in his badge because he never caught a criminal.) As it turned out they pinned it on a guy who Barney brought in, and that guy was a robber but that's beside the point - the fact is he didn't rob the drug store and treating him like that wasn't a nice thing to do even though he *was* a wanted man. Sure, Barney inadvertently caught a wanted man *but that man DID NOT ROB THE STORE.*
    Considering this, I can see clearly how Kurt may have written the song if he ever had a nightmare after watching that TV show; if he thought of imitating some of the vices shown in it, it would have had that effect - to some effect at least. What to say of the rest of the show and song?

    @1969ryson 9 лет назад +14

    This must be right before they totally blew up. I wonder if Kurt knew how huge they would be in the next year or two if he would have continued on or not. Because I heard that was one of the big conflicts that he had. The fact that he railed against the cliché rock star lifestyle, but ended up living it himself and he felt that he was a phony. That's what I remember hearing, I could be wrong. But, if true, you could see his dilemma. Once you reach the level of stardom that Nirvana reached, you just cant put the genie back in the bottle so to speak, you cant ever go back to just playing clubs like in the beginning. He always looked to me like a very reluctant "rockstar". Just my opinion. Take care and peace!

      @101Volts 8 лет назад +1

      +Chris J Nirvana did play a gig in 1992 where they pretended to be a small band, though I expect you may already know that. It's the last show where they played "Talk To Me" and that footage showed up on their WTLO boxset.
      Really, whenever I've seen Nirvana fans they often are so deep into the music that they have stuff nicely organized and there are so many fan sites with so much detailed information. It's a great community in that regard.

      ***** You're wrong. it's well documented that they used to do it so they could just stop playing. do some research

      nobody said they NEVER done encores. they certainly did but to get out of them they often broke up their gear

      ***** most certainly is true - all of them said this in interviews several times. Get it right.

      ***** you're wrong, they've definitely said that they destroyed their instruments just to get off stage.

      Majick Freeman Guys, Yes Kurt made the comment (probably more than once) that it was a good excuse not to do an encore - that was a tongue-in-cheek comment. He was mostly just joking around....jeez.
      They didn't destroy their gear for the sole purpose of not having to continue playing....... And that doesn't mean that they never did encores.

      They showed up late to this show. It's a lunch time set, as opposed to the usual dinner set. They were popular, very popular...just not the biggest rock band in the world, yet.

    haha Dave looks kinda weird behind a more..."normal" sized drum set. I mean that floor tom looks like a 14" and that's smaller than his usual RACK tom.
