As a DM fan and an Illumination fan, I would rewrite the story of Despicable Me 4 and make it only focus on Gru's relationship with his newborn son, Poppy forcing Gru to pull a heist and his whole family getting involved and be on the run from Maxime Le Mal who wants to hunt them down. That's it. The subplot can be about Maxime Le Mal also hatching a villainous plan to dominate the world by turning every human and animal into freaky insect hybrid mutants and making the Earth his bug-infested dystopia, while The AVL gives the family a mission to stop them. And on the topic of that. You or I should definitely have a spin-off solo prequel film about the gorls/Gru's daughters. I feel like KFP4 and DM4 have the same issue of having so much in the story at once it feels bland and boring. Both companies have seen how much there movies have made so they just think giving a lazy effort in their movies is gonna get them a billion dollars. On the other hand both movies got over half a billion so I guess the norm now it’s to give bad movies for good profit
The director of Despicable me 2 confirm that Ilumination doesn’t have scripts in their movies. That’s the reason why The Mario Bross Movie and DM4 has this AI script feeling. They just made the history on the fly.
How about this as a better story maxin is more mad about the fact that gru got him arrested but ends up going to the same prison as all the other past villains and then goes on to team up with them to get revenge boom already a better start then once they escape they end up looking for gru while gru goes into secret service but sooner the villains end up attacking the avl to find where gru is and while that happens rumsbottem gets the super minions made to help gru fight all the villains and while all that happens gru starts training while also trying to bond with his family. You can pick up from there for what happens next. Boom already a 1000 times better movie idea then that shit of an excuse for movie they call despicable me 4
After watching DM4, I can safely say it’s the first time I ever got out the cinema and was lowkey upset and felt scammed. The only thing I sorta liked about the movie was the minion with heat vision because it reminded me of Homelander (the irony behind a Minionlander is a bit hilarious to me).
Tbh, things would have been at the very least alright if Despicable Me had only 1 or 2 movies at most. Plus, everything from the 2015 Minions Spinoff-onwards kinda retcons them anyways.
The first movie (as well as the queue for the Minion Mayhem ride) has a blueprint with the anatomy of a Minion. This implied that they were originally genetic creations from Gru and Dr. Nefario. But then Illumination with the 2015 spinoff and IT'S origins for the minions came along and said....screw it!
Just saw the movie in my opinion it was very good better then 3 but the villain wasnt as good as the previous ones and the ending made it so much better.
anyone else noticed that the bit where gru is about to fall off of the building near the end is literally plays out the exact same way as anakins redemption in star wars episode 6 return of the jedi?
i understand that the movie wasn’t amazing, but i was still able to watch it, yk? also, this movie was created for a child audience… so you kinda have to take that into consideration. but ofc any and all ages can watch!!
One of my biggest complaints at the end of the movie was that the villian was kinda in the background the whole time except for the beginning, and then at the end it took like 5 minutes to beat him. And was it just me or was the “super minions” just look like they were in costumes instead of their DNA changing or whatever they said?
so you are trying to say despicable me 4 is sucks?, it's pain me to heard someone said despicable me 4 sucks, my opinion is good movie, it's not sucks than you thought
@@sel-fz5lw why u gotta be rude like that? Just saying. It genuinely felt too short, and I was confused why the action was put into the middle of the movie instead of the ending.
Ill be honest...a movie that is hilariously bad means that they tried. They failed, but they tried. I felt nothing with this one. The only exception to this is Gru's principal. She and everything surrounding her were VERY funny to me. Just seeing her pull a Nana from Madagascar was great.
I think children’s movies shouldn’t be reviewed for the sake of that they’re literally made for children. Yes there is adult humor in almost every single children’s movie but that’s only for the adults who are taking their children to see this so they can at least get a little laugh or 2
You summed it up perfectly. Illumation films arnt awful but they feel like Saturday morning cartoons with high budget animation. I did enjoy the mario bros movie though and look forward to the 2 one :)
I feel your pain bud. I have never been a fan of these animated abominations against nature. How and why this series makes money is still a mystery that continues to baffle parents and scientists everywhere. Children find anything funny these days. It’s clear that what annoys us adults, entertains the kids.
The movie reminded me a lot of the universal ride, where a lot of goofy, random things happen that are fun to look at, and theres a heartwarming sentiment at the end, but it doesnt feel like the haracters do anything to earn that ending. Also, they feel like hammed up versions of themselves, like their actors paid to say their catchphrase, get their check and go home instead of animated characters
Funfact: the german voice actor for the villain (can't be bothered to look the name up) is known for casino-streams while having a young audience and having literal shit send to him. Good PR-choice Illumination!
Hearing the fact that the movie is genuinely bland is really disappointing for me. I was really hoping for this to be a fantastic film considering all the hype they built up for this movie
My biggest issue with Gru is that hes presented as a villan but at the end of each movie hes turns out to be the hero. Villans do not save the day! Poorly written! Im not saying villans can't be good but if they were to do it, they need to atleast be consistent with it, as at the start of the movies he's a villan and at the end hes good and reverts back to evilness in the next movie. Talk about poor continuity Throughout 90% of all movies, hes anything but a villan 💀 I mean its okay for villans to have there Heroic moments but he's more good than bad. Doesn't sound like a villan to me
I completely agree about this movie. But I definitely feel you are not giving DM2 the credit is deserves. It is just as good if not better than the first movie. The first Minions movie was quite good and entertaining as well. The real problems for me started with DM3. I look back better at it now after the horrendous DM4 but that’s when I noticed a switch it quality for these movies.
Honestly it wasn’t the worst but it definitely felt hollow. The story didn’t feel fleshed out, the girl Gru robs the school with had no reason to be there. The villain wasn’t even villainess and there wasn’t even a big epic fight scene with him. I enjoyed the finale scene with everyone but the song really didn’t fit. It wasn’t like the others where the final musical number was absolutely amazing
I watched this in the shittiest, most rundown movie theater in ohio while visiting cousins. About 3/4 into the movie, I got sick and had to sit in the bathroom stall with no cover on the lock-hole and the door hanging inward far enough to give an good 2 1/2 inch window through which any passer-by could view my suffering. I stayed there in discomfort and embarrassment for the rest of the film. All in all, I think the trip to the bathroom was more pleasant than watching the first 3/4's of the movie.
I Don't have the ability to cringe so instead i just laugh The "ok boomer" joke was actually funny for me because you know one of the executives were like "what do those kiddos do?" And then they just put that together and were like "yeah this is good" And I find that 10x funnier than any genuinely funny joke
I thought it had some good ideas here and there to use but it does nothing to little with it because ITS TOO MANY THINGS. Even when kicking out some characters it still drags adding new ones. None of which are memorable. The only real highlight was the ending to me as it feels like a true closure to this weird movie. There's nothing really worth exploring with Gru far as I see. Only Poppy feels like a fresh do over if they ever desire to touch this franchise again.
Now much like this movie, Rocky V focused a lot on the father-son dynamic the only difference is is that they had actual good chemistry because Rocky Jr. was played by Stallone’s actual son
Hold on hold on hold on hold on… A half bug guy that hates the main character because of something they did in high school with thin arms and a long face? As much as I don’t like the OWCA files did they steal the villan idea? They for some reason look so familiar, probably a coincidence tho

@@cartershow6349 I found it good because of the way it feels like your going through some of the deep emotions through the film similarly to inside out 2 but not as impactful and while the film goes really fast it still tells you a story and its not really complicated to understand and the fact that they added side stories threw out the film like the mega minions and poppy's storyline but it also is way better than despicable me 3 in my opinion because of the lack of humor and its lack of emotion compared to the past two films did and i also like it because of how its not like alot of Hollywood movies where they try to have some sort of political agend or diversty into there films and lastly it helped me alot with my depression that ive been struggling for years

I expected the mega minions were gonna fight Maxim Le mal
Me too, it seemed like the movie was building to that, it’s pretty odd that nothing substantial came of that plot line.
@@isaacmurdocki mean Max was coming for Gru and his family so i feel like it was better that Gru himself was stopping him and protecting his family. still tho, the mega minions just seemed pretty useless throughout this movie
In the german version the villan is played by a youtuber who got popular from casino streams and being sent shit in his fanmail this movie is crazy

I refuse to live in a timeline where people prefer Despicable me over Megamind and where Despicable me 4 is better than Megamind 2.
The idea of the movie was really good like how a villain wants revenge and the whole villain school thing too and the super minions was a really cool idea but the way it was all used was terrible and all the new side characters were very unnecessary and it’s sad that the movie is just terrible 😢😢😢so disappointing I had a lot of hope for this movie with a lot of potential 😢
Despicable Me 1 isn’t that good of a movie. It’s okay but, it’s very fun because it has SO MUCH CHARM! It’s all because the characters are fun and the movie has a lot of heart.
Fr. Everyone is so iconic
Despicable Me 1 is how you do a fun movie. 4 isn't despite how many fanboys would defend it
That describes the first two Ice Age sequels pretty well

Toy Story 4 was abysmal. The story surrounded a plastic spoon made into a toy that wanted to be thrown away because plastic cutlery is made to be discarded. Yeah, what?
@@mackfarlainethebarenakedau5113 Exactly
Illumination is relying so much on DM's profit in the box office to the point it makes filmography including the Super Mario Bros. Movie, laughable.
I hated the movie for a couple of reasons to name one the advertising
It was centered around the mega minions BUT
They show up so DAMN little like 5 times max
Clear that they made them cause the idea was cool but they went with it without knowing how to use them
We were supposed to watch Inside Out 2 for the end of the school year but got this movie instead. Almost no one laughed the entire movie and my friend had an expression of agony on her face near the end, begging for it to end.
…I really wanted to watch Inside Out 2. We all did.
The President of Hollywood said it best in, Tom and Jerry The Fast and Furry movie. "When in doubt ALWAYS stoop to the common basic interests of the people in order to win." Studying psychology, this is sad but true. I'm a polymath.
When i saw the trailers i though how tf are they going to do all of this in the span of 1 hour and 30 minutes
Now i got the answer after watching the movie...
*PACING*
Lol
Good pacing or bad pacing?
@@spaceguybobreally, really, bad.. and incredibly slow.. pacing.
@@plasmaemerald8407 oh no ☠️
this villain neighbor girl just destroyed everything fr
the only thing i liked about it is the chase by that girl because it reminded me of "GET OVER HERE FLINT LOCKWOOD"
I liked it. But why did the girls not age.
Issac: I don’t want to pay for taxes!
IRS:How about now (adds minion)

The director of Despicable me 2 confirm that Ilumination doesn’t have scripts in their movies. That’s the reason why The Mario Bross Movie and DM4 has this AI script feeling. They just made the history on the fly.
How about this as a better story
maxin is more mad about the fact that gru got him arrested but ends up going to the same prison as all the other past villains and then goes on to team up with them to get revenge boom already a better start then once they escape they end up looking for gru while gru goes into secret service but sooner the villains end up attacking the avl to find where gru is and while that happens rumsbottem gets the super minions made to help gru fight all the villains and while all that happens gru starts training while also trying to bond with his family.
I relate to the boulder minion since he gambles.
Lets go gambling!

anyone else noticed that the bit where gru is about to fall off of the building near the end is literally plays out the exact same way as anakins redemption in star wars episode 6 return of the jedi?
i understand that the movie wasn’t amazing, but i was still able to watch it, yk? also, this movie was created for a child audience… so you kinda have to take that into consideration. but ofc any and all ages can watch!!
The rock minion looks like Rudy Giuliani.
A movie made for kids isn't enjoyable as an adult, who saw that coming???
I know there are some that both adults and children can enjoy but c'mon
One of my biggest complaints at the end of the movie was that the villian was kinda in the background the whole time except for the beginning, and then at the end it took like 5 minutes to beat him. And was it just me or was the “super minions” just look like they were in costumes instead of their DNA changing or whatever they said?
1:45 gru's brother dru sounds like it would be made up by someone's on thumbler in a dream they had

Ill be honest...a movie that is hilariously bad means that they tried. They failed, but they tried. I felt nothing with this one. The only exception to this is Gru's principal. She and everything surrounding her were VERY funny to me. Just seeing her pull a Nana from Madagascar was great.
The fact that the best part about this movie was Pharrell Williams' music
Sometimes it’s best that some franchises stay at three movies, Despicable Me, Kung Fu Panda, and Toy Story.
Honestly, just watch Migration, it's probably the best illumination film yet.

Is it better than sing? (Genuinely asking cause I wanna know if it's worth my time)
@@leontriestoart it’s not even as good as Sing 2 either honestly
@leontriestoart Personally I like sing as a movie little more, but I’d say DM4 is slightly funnier than sing.
mega minions shouldve had their own fight but noooo, they come in at the last moment when the villian was already defeated.
Some people like that. As I left the theater, a mom was saying how much she misses silly cartoons
It was so forgettable and predictable.
I liked El macho more then vector but both are the best part of the franchise beside gru
Lets hope the movie's good, because my mom is forcing me to watch it😨
Good luck soldier 🫡

From many movies, i think the best villain for me is Vector and Scarlet Overkill. Both had actual motive and had the guts to do evil stuff.
Funfact: the german voice actor for the villain (can't be bothered to look the name up) is known for casino-streams while having a young audience and having literal shit send to him. Good PR-choice Illumination!

I think it’s not gonna happen cause the movie rating is bad
Hearing the fact that the movie is genuinely bland is really disappointing for me. I was really hoping for this to be a fantastic film considering all the hype they built up for this movie
My biggest issue with Gru is that hes presented as a villan but at the end of each movie hes turns out to be the hero. Villans do not save the day!
Poorly written!
Im not saying villans can't be good but if they were to do it, they need to atleast be consistent with it, as at the start of the movies he's a villan and at the end hes good and reverts back to evilness in the next movie. Talk about poor continuity
Throughout 90% of all movies, hes anything but a villan 💀
I mean its okay for villans to have there Heroic moments but he's more good than bad.
Doesn't sound like a villan to me
I always thought one Despicable Me was enough. It really didn't need 3 squeals, a spinoff, and a prequel/spinoff sequel.
Imagine if these studios made a deal so Megamind could be in this movie
7:21 Nah what was bro doing
7:05 AYO WHAT IS THAT MINION SEARCHING????
I completely agree about this movie. But I definitely feel you are not giving DM2 the credit is deserves. It is just as good if not better than the first movie. The first Minions movie was quite good and entertaining as well. The real problems for me started with DM3. I look back better at it now after the horrendous DM4 but that’s when I noticed a switch it quality for these movies.
Damn it’s always the fourth movie of a franchise that’s the worst
Thanks for adding the Smash remix of Air Man's stage for your outro. 🔥🔥🔥💯
It’s such a good remix 🔥🔥🔥
Honestly it wasn’t the worst but it definitely felt hollow. The story didn’t feel fleshed out, the girl Gru robs the school with had no reason to be there. The villain wasn’t even villainess and there wasn’t even a big epic fight scene with him. I enjoyed the finale scene with everyone but the song really didn’t fit. It wasn’t like the others where the final musical number was absolutely amazing
IF you REALLY love ROACHES go see this movie!! We walked out half way and demanded our money back!
Greatest movie in the last 20 years
I watched this in the shittiest, most rundown movie theater in ohio while visiting cousins.
This is probably my favorite comment on this entire channel.
Why is my screen shaking
I Don't have the ability to cringe so instead i just laugh
The "ok boomer" joke was actually funny for me because you know one of the executives were like "what do those kiddos do?" And then they just put that together and were like "yeah this is good"
And I find that 10x funnier than any genuinely funny joke
I kind of liked it, but the fist one will always be the best, so many memories watching over and over at sleep overs with my friends
In fairness, gravity falls actually handled the surprise twin trope well because when you rewatch it everything makes sense.
The bit of anyone paying for something minion related is too true. Have you seen the minion casket?
were u born in 2009 - 2017 ##
I thought it had some good ideas here and there to use but it does nothing to little with it because ITS TOO MANY THINGS.
I felt poppy was pretty boring tbh but every new character is boring so it isn’t really fair
Love the videos, man. Keep it up!!!
Thank you so much :)
They had so much potential and it’s all thrown away
Now much like this movie, Rocky V focused a lot on the father-son dynamic the only difference is is that they had actual good chemistry because Rocky Jr. was played by Stallone’s actual son
Hold on hold on hold on hold on…
A half bug guy that hates the main character because of something they did in high school with thin arms and a long face?
As much as I don’t like the OWCA files did they steal the villan idea?
They for some reason look so familiar, probably a coincidence tho
