I politely disagree. To me he sounds too much like himself, and while it works just fine for majima's lower voice, the lack of majima screeches takes away too much from his performance imo. But mainly it's just how much I hear the mercer behind the man.

This was the hardest boss fight I had in the game, losing three times to them before I finally won...and I couldn't have been happier. As a longtime Yakuza fan, it honestly would've been disappointing if I could win against Majima and Saejima so easily.
Yeah, the Majima fight is a big difficulty jump from everything in the game up until that point - I didn't even have a single game over until I went up against Majima and Saejima, and lost to them so much I had to go back to my save before going to the Omi HQ and gain a few more levels. But it was so worth it when I finally did beat them.

Have you done Millenium Tower dungeon yet? Cause I played and got to 4th floor (I think?) and some non-boss average assholes kept one hit downing all my players with some curse bullshit lol.
And on top of that, they throw in the "we were going easy on you" line. So all that ass-kicking you took was just a warmup for them. Whether you believe or not though, they did a good job in making it where even when you beat them, it doesn't discredit their abilities.

I swear, when i was playing this for the first time and saw those shoes, heard that laugh.. i ended up screaming in excitement. I knew Majima, Saejima, Kiryu and Daigo wouls come back, but... When it happened, i swear... I wish I could go through that excitement once again, it was something i couldn't even believe. Same for Kiryu... Jesus, this game was amazing- I LOVE THE ENTIRE YAKUZA SERIES!

Not gonna lie, knowing that Mark Hamill voiced Majima in the PS2 Yakuza, I thought this was Troy Baker, just because he does a really good job at mimicking Mark's performances as the Joker, and you hear alot of the Joker in his Majima. But nope, this is Matthew Mercer, and I am by no means disappointed.
You can tell Matt talked with Troy Baker extensively to prepare for the Majima role. The laughing, the inflections while talking, all of it screams Troy's Joker.
Majima and Taiga, the one boss fight so far that gave me the most trouble(and forced me to fight smart instead of brute forcing the fight once Taiga gets in there too(and making sure not too many friends die in the process))
I bet if the re dubbed yakuza series as (Like a Dragon), Majima could be played by Willem Dafoe and Saijima could be played by Dwayne Johnson if they want to make the game dub version sell way more.

Alan Tudyk would nail the voice and personality, but I'm not sure about the look. Problem with characters like Majima is they don't translate well to real life because of their look.

@@sanken21 And it was all due to himself trying super hard to avoid any Joker characteristics being implemented in his voice acting for Majima, even tho Majima is the Yakuza's version of Joker at this point. I wonder if the english dub team told him that he was playing another crazy psycho character the first place.

I don't know this for sure, but it sounds like the reason why Hamill didn't reprise the role in Yakuza 7 was because his voice for Majima sounded too much like his "Joker" voice from Batman
