No matter how many times I rewatch the ending, I always find myself BREAKING from Ichi’s dialogue of being at rock bottom and making your way out of that pit. I finally realized why those words struck a cord with me: I’ve had circumstances happen in my life and I often felt stuck and lost. Just hearing those words of reassurance and hope, especially from a sweet, endearing character like Ichi, made me feel complete and inspires me to keep going. Kaiji Tang’s performance was just phenomenal. He just made me love Ichi even more. ❤️
Just finished this game 49.5 hours. I really enjoyed Ichi, Nanba and Adachi. They were all good buddies. Good friends to have and good times. 9/10 overall
They were inspired by One Piece characters and thats how i instantly already enjoyed these characters the rpg gameplay is fun but it can be hella long. Can't wait for Yakuza 8
Hate to say it but no, by that point Dante and Vergil had their heads too far up their own asses to have a fight with that kind of emotion. Nero and Vergil sure. But in neither DMC 3 or 5 could Dante dish out the raw emotion and familial love Ichiban is here to save Vergil from his own nightmares and psychological trauma (ultimately why Nero was the change that was needed to end the cycle).

“All you had to do was ask”. While different from what was said in the Japanese dub, this line was pretty damn effective. I can personally relate to this line and it’s delivery as it reminds me of one of my best friends from high school who cut all of the close friends in our group during a troubled time out of his life when we would have gone to hell and back for him. This is a good example of both the English and Japanese dub being great for different reasons.
@@goldendocsonic2012 I feel like Ichiban is supposed to also represent forgiveness and unity. If you noticed, everyone that was around Ichiban ends up sort of teaming up with him or working with him in some way or another, and in a loyal way too.
I like how Masato's secretary seemed to be in love with Masato unlike how in Y3, Mine's secretary only saw him as her paycheck despite what Mine actually thought
I think the best part about this final cutscene is how it directly contrasts with the final cutscene of yakuza 1. Whereas kiryu and nishiki sort of agreed that only one of them would make it out of the tower that night, here ichiban is so damn desperate to keep his brother alive. It shows what kind of person ichiban is and how worthy he is of kiryus legacy
I'm not gonna lie. I felt emotional over the dub compared to the original Japanese voices. Hearing Ichiban begging Masato not to kill himself really got to me and I ended up crying as well. Such an amazing performance Kaiji Tang delivered. I'm glad Sega decided to dub this game.
I haven’t played any of the deemed “greatest” games of all time like FF VII, chrono trigger etc. But as of now this is the most impactful game story I’ve ever played. This ending broke me.
Ichiban saying Ijincho is his home 🥲 But seriously I love this game. I think it’s a fresh take on the Yakuza series and has a good theme of starting from the bottom and finding your way up, and making friends along the way. It kept loyal to a protagonist who is kind hearted if not a bit dull witted, but still kept Ichiban very distinct from Kiryu. Loved this game.
I just finished this game. I've started my journey all the way back to 0, and what a fucking beautiful franchise. This and 0 are tied in my favorites. I love the fact that the first part of the final fight, you are against Ryo Aoki the Governor of Tokyo. And when it's just the two of them, it changes to Masato Arakawa. I felt fucking goosebumps at that part unlike any other Yakuza games. Beautiful and amazing. And Ichiban, dare I say, has become my third favorite character in the series just barely passed by Kiryu and Majima.
When I feel down, I always come back to this scene, playing Yakuza Like a Dragon meant a lot to me Ichiban is just a wonderful character, it's not a classic hero, it's a lowlife thug that was raised in a bathouse, he's a 40 years old man, but he's so brave, he always find his way up and never stops fighting, he's always trying to help the others He has a tragic story, he saw his father and his brother die, he spent nearly 20 years on prison, but after being in the botton he always find his way to climb up Ichiban is to me a hero, my real hero.

You should give 13 sentinels a go Kaiji tang plays a character called hijiyama who is one of the protagonist of the game and Kaiji and the rest of the cast had to do the voice acting at home because the studio was shut during the pandemic but the voice acting came out brilliantly.
This story seems like a Naruto and Sasuke kind of thing. The ending wanted to make me cry. It’s so good! You get to feel how the character feels. The voice acting is just too good. So sad that Ichiban’s brother (since he finds him as one. Which he is accidentally adopted from his real father, Masato Arakawa) died at the end. I just wished that he gets to be a better man and get to bond with Ichiban more often. He is always there to watch over his young master, his brother. This is a perfect game.
Dude it’s rare that games ever make me get emotional but this one really made me grow to live Ichiban as a character at the end. The VAs did a phenomenal job showing the pain & anguish in his face 🙏
I will admit. I played the game all in Japanese. But goddamn if this dub work ain’t the best performance in localizing period. Ichiban’s English VA really captured exactly the same level of what makes Ichiban’s plea so damn great in Japanese. All the pain, concern, panic, and heartbreak. The desperation hits like a truck and sends your heart into a frenzy and then just stops cold like all time just stands still. I really do hope top notch performances like this become the standard and I think Ichiban’s English actor deserves all the accolades and awards he can carry… and then some filling the back of a pickup truck. Bravo.
Hell even Kiryu said that Ichiban isn't his successor he is his own person. The amount of respect they have for eachother despite not knowing eachother for very long is really wholesome, I can't wait for 2024 when we get to see them interact more with eachother.
Ichiban is drastically different from Kiryu but he has endeared me so much due to his emotions, his charisma and this uncanny ability to draw in allies and inspire their loyalty towards him. Kiryu is definitely a legend but I love how in the game, he acknowledges Ichiban’s strength and inspires to keep on believing in his friends, thus passing the torch to him in the franchise symbolically (my opinion anyway).
Ichiban is weak but he see things though and he doesn't run away the only reason he was involved was because his boss from the soapland was killed other then that he didn't care. Kiryu is strong but he's a coward and a hypocrite like mine said he shouldn't have returned to the tojo clan after the empty lot incident he shouldn't have taken the fall for nishiki and he shouldn't have made terada and diago the chairman these actions got people killed and ruin the tojo clan park was right people lives would be better with kiryu not around
4:05 this is a big mixture of both yakuza kiwami games final fights, the qte is from ryujis and the constant punching and "thats all u got?" is probably a reference to yakuza kiwami 1.

I feel the same way. Every word from Ichiban's VA struck me in my heart. By 21:40 I was an absolute mess. I was able to hold myself together when watching the Japanese dub, but only by a little bit 😂
I'm quite surprised that the saying here is different from the Japanese one, also in 22:20 Ichiban say's Ryo Aoki's real name, instead of Young Master, which is a surprise.
The wiki says that his status is unknown. Hopefully there is an answer in future games. It better not be another case of characters disappearing for no reason like in previous Yakuza games.
The game established pretty well that he is nothing but a spineless nobody without Masato's support, so it's likely he either got picked up by the cops or just threw himself in front of a bus.
I would assume the police picked him up pretty quickly. Not only would the police be after him with Ichiban's testimony, the bad people might want a piece for killing their cash cow (despite Aoki being publically shamed)
I never wanted to play yakuza games because I hate gangsters with a passion but ichiban is an amazing protagonist and I hope they make more with him in it
Might be a taste thing but, at least to me, Yakuza is a bit more profound than the GTA games. It isn't exactly about rising up, it's about living, there are so many stuff in the series that are quite mundane but given so much colors, Ichiban being an example of this, certainly better than just ruling over a crime family or taking revenge, why not just live?
Can't believe they didn't arrest Kume even tho he stabbed a literal governor of Tokyo in public damn (i mean they probably did but at least tell us lah)
Kume coming in to kill Ryo was very Deus Ex Machina to me. There is no way he should have known he was in that train station. The only particular bad spot in an excellent story, imo.
@@kevinkusman9137 Now that you said it, you're right, maybe he never planned to kill him that moment, he just coincidentally walks there and found Ryo (?) Or maybe someone reported it after Ryo arrived at the station, and Kume heard that. To be fair, it took almost 10 minutes from his arrival to his stabbing.
Was a decent ending. What the game sorely lacked at that point were a couple of save-points. Takes a couple of hours to get through the last section and would've been nice to save and come back to those final scenes or simply re-ilve them outside of RUclips!

Ichiban: "Now is not the time."
No matter how many times I rewatch the ending, I always find myself BREAKING from Ichi’s dialogue of being at rock bottom and making your way out of that pit. I finally realized why those words struck a cord with me:
I’ve had circumstances happen in my life and I often felt stuck and lost. Just hearing those words of reassurance and hope, especially from a sweet, endearing character like Ichi, made me feel complete and inspires me to keep going.
Kaiji Tang’s performance was just phenomenal. He just made me love Ichi even more. ❤️
Me to brother
This game is 10/10 beautifully well crafted 😭😭😭
The timing of the sound track and Ichiban's final punch though...especially the whole QTE. How did you get it to be so spot on?!
So this is how it looks like if Dante and Vergil fight unarmed
I AM NOT LETTING YOU DIE!!!!
"That day, if our positions were switched, would our fates be different? Would I have your life, and you mine?"
Well shit you really went there
There was a concept art of them fighting with only their fist
Hate to say it but no, by that point Dante and Vergil had their heads too far up their own asses to have a fight with that kind of emotion. Nero and Vergil sure. But in neither DMC 3 or 5 could Dante dish out the raw emotion and familial love Ichiban is here to save Vergil from his own nightmares and psychological trauma (ultimately why Nero was the change that was needed to end the cycle).
I keep coming back to watch this after beating the game. Legitimately one of the best finales to a game I have EVER played.
And also cuz of the legendary sync at 4:50
Urrrp
.....This fight was emotional as hell, ngl.
And that soundtrack....
Yakuza 7 *REALLY* delivered....
And that ending.....
....And that *SUPER RELIEVED* look on Saeko's face when she realized Ichiban was staying was so cute.
Damn, another powerful ending giving me so much feels. Can't wait for Yakuza 8 with Ichi
@Andrew tbf Tanimura’s VA had some controversy which is probably why he was dropped. 6 in general made things pretty small scale so shinada really just didn’t fit. A shame but it is what it is
May be Haruka or Akiyama or Kaoru join Ichiban party
What about seong hui she can be furure party member
@@RajaKing-en6qs Dang I was just thinking. I wonder how old Haruto is during Yakuza 7. Also wondering if Kiryuu, Majima, Taiga and such will join your party too in Yakuza 8.
@@RajaKing-en6qs Hope she can join too.

“I’ll wipe that stupid grin off your face and leave it bloody on the floor!”
Damn bro, both of their voice actors went all out and that’s what makes this fight worth it 🌟
Just finished it in the original Japanese dub and was blown away by how good Ichiban’s voice actor was. Hearing the English dub for the first time was actually really surprising. Ichiban sounds incredible here too!
I hate that this was my first introduction to the Yakuza series. All I want is more games with Ichiban
and you will get more games with Ichiban, the Torch has been passed to him.
@@MugenLord And I could not be more excited about that. The Dragon of Dojima is amazing, but I'm glad that they've decided to make a whole new series of Yakuza games with a brand new protagonist
@Kurt Çobaini You say "rookie" as if it's a detriment to his character. I'd argue that Ichiban not having that "legend" status is part of what makes him feel so close to fans so quickly.
But I really don't care which fictional protagonist you like better...
@@muffinz0623 The LAK sequel has been announced. Can't wait to see how they continue Ichiban's story especially when his friends and location play such a huge role in his life.
@@vullord666 I saw that, I'm ridiculously excited. I just finished Judgment and Lost Judgment and I'm so ready for more Ichiban
We just witnessed a guy growing up...
No we just see a man becomes a dragon
@@leobardoestrada3202 The Dragon of Koi
@@goldendocsonic2012 I feel like Ichiban is supposed to also represent forgiveness and unity. If you noticed, everyone that was around Ichiban ends up sort of teaming up with him or working with him in some way or another, and in a loyal way too.
I like how Masato's secretary seemed to be in love with Masato unlike how in Y3, Mine's secretary only saw him as her paycheck despite what Mine actually thought
godamn i wasnt expecting Ichiban to make me cry, such amazing emotional performance. He's the sheer opposite to Kiryu and i loved it
I think the best part about this final cutscene is how it directly contrasts with the final cutscene of yakuza 1. Whereas kiryu and nishiki sort of agreed that only one of them would make it out of the tower that night, here ichiban is so damn desperate to keep his brother alive. It shows what kind of person ichiban is and how worthy he is of kiryus legacy
I'm just love how majima is not even sitting properly its just so majima lmao.
Man's over 50 already 😂😂
vs. Wei Shen
Basically dragon vs dragon (remember Wei Shen also has dragon tattoo)
That’s some A+ acting
I'm not gonna lie. I felt emotional over the dub compared to the original Japanese voices. Hearing Ichiban begging Masato not to kill himself really got to me and I ended up crying as well. Such an amazing performance Kaiji Tang delivered. I'm glad Sega decided to dub this game.
It stills blows my mind that Masaru Watase is James C. Burns, the voice of Frank Woods.
That’s why he sounded so familiar I didn’t understand where I’d heard his voice from. Now it makes sense 😂
I haven’t played any of the deemed “greatest” games of all time like FF VII, chrono trigger etc.
But as of now this is the most impactful game story I’ve ever played. This ending broke me.
That “Bullshit!” hits hard
Every time, without fail the waterworks start there.
sounds better in japanese
@@amarson2322 I don't think he says bullshit in the japanese version.
Ichiban saying Ijincho is his home 🥲
But seriously I love this game.
Just finished this with the Japanese VA but I heard the English doesn't dissapoint and it didn't, Kaiji Tang left nothing on the floor for this
this game is fucking gold. Ugh, I don't want it to be over.
When I feel down, I always come back to this scene, playing Yakuza Like a Dragon meant a lot to me
Ichiban is just a wonderful character, it's not a classic hero, it's a lowlife thug that was raised in a bathouse, he's a 40 years old man, but he's so brave, he always find his way up and never stops fighting, he's always trying to help the others
He has a tragic story, he saw his father and his brother die, he spent nearly 20 years on prison, but after being in the botton he always find his way to climb up
Ichiban is to me a hero, my real hero.
Kaiji Tang voiced two of my favorite characters. Detective Pikachu and Gaius Worzel from Trails of cold steel, well now I just found a third favorite,
no owain from fire emblem?
@@DeadlyDuel Jesus, another Yakuza voice actor who did work for Fire Emblem? Him, Matthew Mercer, and Greg Chun did Owain, Ryoma, and Ike respectively.
You should give 13 sentinels a go Kaiji tang plays a character called hijiyama who is one of the protagonist of the game and Kaiji and the rest of the cast had to do the voice acting at home because the studio was shut during the pandemic but the voice acting came out brilliantly.
Owain and Kaiji, now there is a top 5.
I love how old-fashioned Ichiban’s suit is
Between Gonta from Danganronpa and this, Kaiji Tang is phenomenal at crying
Kaiji Tang is phenomenal at everything
I agree with everyone the voice acting here is some of the best I've heard in a video game.
Majima english dub is pretty good. Nice job
I'm wishing it was mark Hamill reprising the role
It's Matthew Mercer
@@trevindavis8890 Mark Hamill refused, unfortunately
Sounds like shit
@@Unknown-zn8cg Ok, weeb.
Bravo.
I did not regret playing the dub.
Ironic how everything ended where it all began.
It started with Arakawa carrying away Sawashiro, and it ended with Arakawa carrying away Sawashiro
*sobs*
I switched to English dub in middle of the game and never switch back hence, the dub is surprisingly good
I’m so happy that Majima-san stayed and will probably have cameos I’m later games....
Yakuza won't ever be Yakuza without Majima haha. Though I wish Akiyama would make a return. He's too underrated.
I just finished this game today and damn.... I had to go back and see this momment. Truly made me cry.
I beat the game like last week and that final scene with ichi is STILL STUCK IN MY HEAD. thank you ichi for making me feel something
kasuga really unified a group of people that existed to "keep balance" but now freely laugh together. some beautiful shit
How the hell his glasses stayed on even stayed intact after all that fighting?
5:10 the way he jumps off the platform and faces the camera ready to stomp on someone if just full of the swagger of a yakuza
Ichiban is not kiryu
Ichiban is Ichiban.
I look forward to seeing him and his crew in future installments.
Hell even Kiryu said that Ichiban isn't his successor he is his own person. The amount of respect they have for eachother despite not knowing eachother for very long is really wholesome, I can't wait for 2024 when we get to see them interact more with eachother.
I definitely shed a man tear for Kasuga in those scenes with Ryo. He was genuine. And when he cried out when Ryo hot stabbed, I lost it. SMFH
Anybody else just come here sometimes to have a good cry?
Such a powerful scene are the other yakuza games like this??
Maybe not as much as y7, but theyre really good too
Somewhat, but not as much as 7. I think it was just more powerful in 7, since it was much easier to build around it being a jrpg style type of system.
Can we just talk about how the music at 4:10 was on point though?
Yakuza can teach you more about life than an entire school about it.
Well get ready for infinite wealth for it might be the final chapter of kiryu
Ichiban is weak but he see things though and he doesn't run away the only reason he was involved was because his boss from the soapland was killed other then that he didn't care. Kiryu is strong but he's a coward and a hypocrite like mine said he shouldn't have returned to the tojo clan after the empty lot incident he shouldn't have taken the fall for nishiki and he shouldn't have made terada and diago the chairman these actions got people killed and ruin the tojo clan park was right people lives would be better with kiryu not around
31:53 DW8 Lu Bu/Sojiro/Garen under arrest
That made me cry and I never played this game
4:05 this is a big mixture of both yakuza kiwami games final fights, the qte is from ryujis and the constant punching and "thats all u got?" is probably a reference to yakuza kiwami 1.
I think that part was just a coincidence.
@@cleversmart0303 probably but could be a big reference to other Yakuza games
Just finished the game with JP VA and english subtitles. Bawled my eyes out due to how good the Voice Acting, the music the lines. The English Dub hits just as hard. This ending was rough but fantastic
It truly was a wild ride until now can't wait for the sequel
I shed tears when I was watching this while drinking Budweiser this game is amazing.
RUclips ads really need to learn how to read the room...
If you are using mobile, when the video start, skip to the ending to the video, then play the video again. That should get rid of any ads in the middle.
YO HOLD UP. ALL I HEAR FROM MASATO IS WEI SHEN FROM SLEEPING DOGS. OR AM I RLLY TRIPPING RN
Edit: Just searched it up and THE BOI WILL YUN LEE. I never thought I would hear him again

I'm gonna say it - this was better than the Japanese version, just by a tiny edge. Holy cow what raw emotion. Perfect.
and somehow to me the english VA fits masato way better than the jp VA
I feel the same way. Every word from Ichiban's VA struck me in my heart. By 21:40 I was an absolute mess. I was able to hold myself together when watching the Japanese dub, but only by a little bit 😂
Na, ichibans emotion was slightly better in the Japanese dub although aoki sounds better in english
@Andrew exactlyyyyy
@Andrew English VA sounds like he's crying too...
I'm quite surprised that the saying here is different from the Japanese one, also in 22:20 Ichiban say's Ryo Aoki's real name, instead of Young Master, which is a surprise.
Soo for English voice actors it’s wei shen vs gaius worzel this is a beautiful bout
0:38 荒川真斗「そのむかつくニヤケ面…ぶっ潰して二度と笑えねぇようにしてやるよ!!😠」
Ichibans unwavering love and loyalty make him one of the best characters ever written yakuza game or not, best story in a game for me in years
why is it that everytime ichiban falls down during the fights he is having spasms lmao
I just cried after finishing this game.. ichiban l love you man...
I don’t think we ever found out what happened to kumo in the end
Pretty sure you see him in jail in the epilogue unless I am mistaken
@@grodcoyote6635 pretty sure that’s sawashiro
The wiki says that his status is unknown. Hopefully there is an answer in future games. It better not be another case of characters disappearing for no reason like in previous Yakuza games.
The game established pretty well that he is nothing but a spineless nobody without Masato's support, so it's likely he either got picked up by the cops or just threw himself in front of a bus.
I would assume the police picked him up pretty quickly. Not only would the police be after him with Ichiban's testimony, the bad people might want a piece for killing their cash cow (despite Aoki being publically shamed)
The scene where ichiban witnessed aoki who was like a brother to him died in front of him was just so sad and gut wrenching 😢😢
People are talking about how good kaiji tang's performance as ichiban is but nobody is talking about how Johnny yong bosch nailed aoki
Johnny wasn’t Aoki.
He was young Arakawa and Ikari.
I never wanted to play yakuza games because I hate gangsters with a passion but ichiban is an amazing protagonist and I hope they make more with him in it
LMAOO all yakuza protagonist are good bro, play it
@@andresashura5550 I see that now I just thought it was the Japanese version of gta because it was called yakuza I’m gonna play the rest now
Might be a taste thing but, at least to me, Yakuza is a bit more profound than the GTA games. It isn't exactly about rising up, it's about living, there are so many stuff in the series that are quite mundane but given so much colors, Ichiban being an example of this, certainly better than just ruling over a crime family or taking revenge, why not just live?
This should game deserves to be game of the year
i agree. I really wish it did.
I think if the game awards were to take more of a global vote, rather than just western votes. This game probably would have won game of the year.
Good game, not perfect, 9/10
Reason : Kume.
It would be cool to have Kume get what he deserves in a future game.
kume dlc anyone?
Can't believe they didn't arrest Kume even tho he stabbed a literal governor of Tokyo in public damn (i mean they probably did but at least tell us lah)
Kume coming in to kill Ryo was very Deus Ex Machina to me. There is no way he should have known he was in that train station. The only particular bad spot in an excellent story, imo.
@@kevinkusman9137 Now that you said it, you're right, maybe he never planned to kill him that moment, he just coincidentally walks there and found Ryo (?)
Or maybe someone reported it after Ryo arrived at the station, and Kume heard that. To be fair, it took almost 10 minutes from his arrival to his stabbing.
Ichiban is facing this guy alone without using any backup and The way I see fit as of right now History has been made in The History Of Yakuza?
Was a decent ending. What the game sorely lacked at that point were a couple of save-points. Takes a couple of hours to get through the last section and would've been nice to save and come back to those final scenes or simply re-ilve them outside of RUclips!
Love every yakuza game, always emotional and trace back to family
The English dub is actually good.
