About time the Orioles get credit- every sports news said others would win in 2023 never the O’s. As an Orioles’s fan for many years, this is the most exciting and heartfelt team in baseball- we don’t have Divas just pure heart, guts, and tenacity. Do your homework and let’s not make the playoffs be about the other teams and recognize the O’s- no we are not down and we have Holiday coming up next year!
Everyone keeps focusing on drafting and trading for the right players, which is understandable. What no one seems to do a deeper dive on is the entire organizational infrastructure Elias built when he got to Baltimore. It may be even more of an amazing feat considering the shape the organization was in. Orioles had one third of the scouting department that the rest of MLB had. They had no analytical department. No Dominican presence. Elias built all of that up in a year and turned it loose and just look at the results. Incredible. Elias will win Exec of the year but he really is the Exec of the Century and it's not even close.
Well said, Mike Elias did something that was long long long overdue, they needed a real rebuild and restructure. Even during the Buck Showalter years they didn’t do quite enough to build something that could be sustainable, Buck was great but they didn’t have enough of an infrastructure that would lead to being a championship team consistently. They had to tear it down completely and build it back up
Agreed. It’s one thing to have the players, it’s another to set them up to develop successfully
I agree with everything you said but even Elias mentioned Dan Duquette and the players he drafted and brought to the team. Mullins, Santander, Mounty, Hays, Mountain, Kremer, Means, Hall, and Grayson (and I’m prob forgetting others) were all DD guys however Elias & Sig put the finishing touches on this club and took them to another level. He has certainly taken this club in the right direction.
As a fan from 1969 to today and tomorrow and forever, i shed tears this week , sadness for the loss of #5 Brooks Robinson( my personal hero. And the reason i played 3rd in little league) and Joy in the fact that they won the AL East. 100 wins and counting. Great bullpen , good starting pitching and outstanding defense and offense!!!!!! Great young players with a good mix of veterans....
I feel that as long as they stay humble ammd play with the love and respect that they have shown all year that this team is going to continue to win for a very , very long time !!!!
Used to be , if they were loosing after 6 I'd tune it out and count it as a loss , not any more . The amount of comeback wins this yeas ???? Amazing !!!!!

You'd have to be a Baltimore fan too fully grasp what it means to hear these praises, we've had this down the entire season and I get it about "small markets". But all you have to do is take a lesson from this entire team, believe in your stuff and do the work, most importantly play as a team, leave egos at the door. And when you come to Baltimore know we'll defend you to the end!!!! I can hear Brooks now 😇🙏along with Chuck Thompson "go to war Miss Agnes!"

Very fun team to root for. Hope they spend a little in free agency this year while still giving spots to the young guys coming up.
They don’t need free agents blocking the #1 farm system.
They really don't need any free agents. They just need to move some of their prospects for a good starter. I think they'll trade for either Shane Bieber or Corbin Burnes in the offseason.
It's nice to see the Bird with something to smile about.
And heres the part, they might get Felix Bautista back in October. With how they're talking, if he comes back, and they get a lead early with that bullpen, NO ONE IS BEATING THEM!

Watch out, don’t be too cocky. Astros, Phillies and dodgers has plenty of experience and play really well under the postseason October lights. Some teams are just a different animal in October. Regular season don’t mean anything in October. You must not watch enough baseball not to know this.

I’m loving it as a die hard orioles and ravens fan if you not from Baltimore specially a. O’s fan won’t realize how satisfying this is they been a fun team to watch young have a strong core and young players that’s coming up goin crazy not to mention still some great players still ready to come up soon happy Henderson and Adley came up last year to get adjusted they killed it this year
People don't realize how quick the Orioles turned it around. Going from 110 plus loss season in 2019 and 2021 to 100 plus win today is amazing. Basically going from suck to division winner in 2 years is amazing and they got young talent. Even better the Orioles just resigned their 30 year lease for Camden Yards so they aren't going to be leaving the city.
They lost 110 games in 2021.
Happy for the Orioles! Mike Elias and Sig Mejdal did great things in Houston. Sad to have them leave the Astros organization but happy they were able to move on and do great things in Baltimore!
I put $5,000 down at opening bets when the Orioles were +3500 to make the World Series.
I've done this every 5 years since 2013. I was excited in 2014 and 2016 BUT this year I might actually win a bet.
As a fan since 1992-ish, I'm super excited.

"If done right". The problem with the Orioles is they "rebuilt from scratch" so many times without yielding fruit, a lot of people were skeptical. They rebuilt in 2000 (moderately successful in 2004), 2006 (some playoff success, mostly stemming from a few key acquisitions like Chris Tillman and Adam Jones...traded away too much talent in this period and failed to develop it), then finally around 2017-2018 (to the present). What's interesting here is you have the Elias draft picks combined with a few of the guys that Duquette got when the rebuild first started, so it's almost like two generations of a rebuilding phase merging (plus a solid outfield and Mountcastle that have suffered through a lot of the rebuild!)
As an Orioles fan for 44 years. They never ever, not one time, before Elias "built from scratch". Elias is the only GM to emphasize drafting, international signings, player development, and analytics. Other GM's had fire sales and tried to reset with someone else's prospects. But Elias is the only one who has done it, THE RIGHT WAY!
Been a fan since I was 9yrs old in 1997 and I'm pumped Bro! The City is hype too! This is the most games they've won in my lifetime. Gunnar is easily the AL ROTY, Hyde is Manager Of The Year and Elias has to be Executive Of The Year. Now it's time to bring it home, men! 💪🏼💪🏼

I feel like fans of so many teams (outside of those also in the playoffs) have said or posted they like the orioles and are rooting for them. I’ve seen Yankees and Sox fans saying they’re pulling for the baby birds. It’s such a huge turn around that it’s just good for baseball in general. If they keep winning (which they will) the haters will come, but this year the O’s feel very much like they’re many baseball fans’ favorite story of the year.

back in march i got 30: 1 on the orioles to win the east...my new favorite team...with William Hill book.
Not to mention Ryan O'Hearn, Aaron Hicks, Felix Bautista (i think??), Adam Frazier, and Jorge Mateo were all acquisitions by Elias
From last year to this year I seen the progress and motivation I seen them bringing up studs and putting a great supporting cast around them along with the layovers like Santander, Hays, Mullins, Mountcastle love to see it Go O’s

Hyder looks like a thumb but we love him as our skipper… more importantly the players love him.
The Os are ahead of schedule so most of drafted talent hasn't come to the majors yet. And next year Jackson Holiday will be at shortstop. They will have a chance to trade for stud pitching and add to the majors. The team should be better next year. Let's go Os 😂
And they're positioned to have 3 more 1st round picks next draft.
It wasn’t a quick turnaround. It took 5years to get to this point.
Can you imagine all the arbitration money and then contract money this team will have to give out 4-5 years from now if they keep them all?

They have 5 more players in their minor league system ranked in the Top 100 including the Minor League POY Jackson Holiday. They are only gonna get better
The majority of orioles fans did not support the team during the rebuild. They were calling for both hyde and elias's head the whole time. Baltimore is a band wagon town when it comes to sports.
Lemme start by saying i am in no way doubting the 5 man rotation or bullpen. But if we add a few more arms and another big bat (ohtani is a pipe dream😂),we’re unbeatable🤷🏼♂️
No, we're not giving the O's "massive props." I don't respect teams that purposely tank to build their roster. The Rays don't go that route.

you have to be bad for years to get high round draft picks
You also have to draft the right players. Something most teams have a lot of trouble doing. Elias didn't just nail his high draft picks, he nailed his picks throughout the draft. 3 of those top 5 picks they've made the last few years, Cowser, Kjerstad and Holliday haven't even been key contributors yet. They have 6 more top 50 prospects waiting to get regular AB's at the big league level in the near future.
