      @miguel.ledesmaledesma1790 honestly he is very very close to earning captain status . If we get the wc spot this year on the back of him having a great year then give it to him.he bleeds orange and blue and he is genuinely a good man ( based on what media tells us , I don't know him lol)

      His only real knock is his arm. Excellent glove and route to balls. Excellent on base. Power. 4 tool player when hes right.

    Love the guy. Admittedly, a lifelong Mets fan - but I absolutely love Nimmo. 360° class act and getting better every year.

    Nimmo was drafted by the Mets in Rd 1 from Wyoming as a high potential but raw high schooler. He spent several years in the minors honing his skills.
    Nimmo has shown a lot of tools & potential. He is a disciplined hitter & he has an infectious happy-go-lucky attitude. He’s a leader & his smile keeps everyone loose even during rough times. He thrived at leadoff because of his eye & high On Base despite lacking plus speed. He’s show 20+ HR Power but as he has aged & gained experience he has started to fulfill his potential even more. He is becoming a better all around run producer. Now he is hitting 2nd & thriving. He was a solid CF but now he is a legitimate corner outfielder. He isn’t only a good player but a solid citizen & great teammate. I think Baty can have a similar trajectory but Vientos really made the most of his opportunity & shown that he is the Mets’ starting 3B
    Let’s Go Mets❕

      I once watched Omar Minaya talk about the Mets organization always trying to draft guys with athleticism. I think that's what they saw in Nimmo as part of his potential. He was athletic enough to not only be a big leaguers but to grow into a star player

      One of the biggest knocks on Nimmo was he couldn't stay healthy, but the guy is producing and healthy. The contract looks like a bargain now.

  • @jayjayfrmstatefarm9363
    @jayjayfrmstatefarm9363 24 дня назад +18

    He showed what he could do in a full season in 2018, .888 OPS over 140 games. Early in his career he just had unfortunate injuries that kept him off the field, now he’s staying healthy. Always good OBP & good hitter. Now he added the power last few seasons. Good investment by Mets, he keeps getting better.

    I think JD Martinez is coaching these guys on the side. The only time since JD was signed and the Mets weren't hitting solidly and hitting HRs was when he first signed and when JD seemed to be sick with the flu or something.

      Sure, but Nimmo’s evolution began last summer, when Jeremy Barnes and co noted that Nimmo had the rare combination of plus contact skills, plate discipline, and exit velocity, and that if they worked on cleaning up his swing path and getting him to lift the ball more (he had already started to be more aggressive), he could turn into a legitimate power threat. (I was glad to read this, because I predicted before last season that Nimmo would become a 25-30 HR guy.)

    I was happy that he re-signed with the Mets. The contract will look like a bargain by the end of it as he's always had good contact skill and discipline. Instead of battling the pitcher over 10 pitches, and then drawing a walk, he's now driving some of the balls that he would've fouled off (or taken) in the past.

    • @CorynthianLeather
      @CorynthianLeather 23 дня назад +1

      @@edgoodwin4389 I love Alonso but hell I'd be lying if I said he deserved it over them. They've been the best 1-2 punch in the beginning of the lineup. Nimmo is top 10 in Rbis. Mostly as a leadoff hitter.. and Lindor is #2 in doubles with gold glove defense and great power stats as well. Like whut

    The way he hustles out of the plate towards first at every bat, it says alot about his drive and work ethic. It’s those small things that really domino effects into other aspects of his skills and potential.

    When he signed his new deal I thought……Jeeze that’s steep for Nimmo. I was happy as hell for him and man is he playing above that salary now! Signing Bader and moving Nimmo to Left field has been so clutch in 2024. Super happy for him! Mark De Rosa you are so awesome doing segments like this, it’s such a joy to watch and listen to. When you dropped the bat…😂

    Nimmo had a terrific season in 2022. He can hit home runs but the last thing he needs is to try and hit 40. That will screw up his swing because it will get bigger and he will start getting beaten inside with fastballs. That's how he will be pitched from now on. I hope he adjusts.
