One thing that’s not talked about in this video was how the 2022 team was when it entered the playoffs. They suffered a massive collapse in late July throughout August and they BARELY recovered to win the division. They struggled in the ALDS and got completely bodied in the ALCS.
was so funny lol. they went from 61-23 to the worst team in baseball in august, barely beat the Guardians of all teams and then forgot how to hit against the team we all love to hate on
@ashwinranji8790 for them their giant slump came after that Astros Series where Houston for the most part manhandled them (which would be a preview for October)
2021 was plain inconsistent and 2023 had tons of injuries. Come to think of it, the even numbered years fits the bill there, not to mention we never win in year 4 and 5. At this point we may hope for the best on 2026 but if Cashman doesn't screw up on retaining Soto, we can hope things change in 2025. I really want that narrative to die for once, even if the status quo in year 4 stays for another decade.
One thing about Trevino is he is not a defensive liability, he just sucks at throwing guys out, he is the best framer in the league and a 99 OPS+ from the catcher position is actually pretty good, that’s like a 110 OPS+ from anyone else
yeah league average ops+ from a catcher is well above rate, and his wRC+ is actually slightly above average, at 103. in addition to being the best in the league at framing, he'a elite at blocking too; he's worth 1.3 fWAR so far this season (july 10th) which is not bad at all.
Yankees starting to realize they can’t bully the league anymore. The fans and owners are really confused as to why lol. Everyone can spend as much as them now plus the ones who can spend more also have great farm systems.
@@Crypto_prod35 Dodgers have good development and have been in top 5 player development for decades. Yankees just recently got better. Dodgers didn't start buying the league in mass until 2020 with Mookie Betts. Unlike the Yankees who have been doing it for over 40 years.
The team's success you say at 1:35 was "magnificent ". No Yankee regular other than Judge, batted over .261 or drove in more than 78 runs. No player in history earned the title "Most Valuable Player " so convincingly.
Guessed they've uncollapsed now, having gone 6-2 and swept the best team in the NL, the Phillies, who are 3-10 in their most recent games. From June 15 to July 24, the Yankees went 10-22, scoring 4.375 runs per game, just below average. In their other 80 games they've scored 5.39 runs per game, lead the ML in runs scored, and are still tied for first place and the third best record in the ML. Maybe MLB just issued them different baseballs or different stickum for their pitchers for a month.
It’s really funny to see Yankees fans cry about going slightly above .500 as a white Sox fan. Until you make the playoffs once every about 20 years then you can complain
Yeah this is just dumb. You should have waited until at least the deadline. Or the end of the season. The Phillies have lost six series in a row now, are they "collapsing? Or have they already "collapsed"? NYY are in first today.
@@ThatBaseballGuy13 Thank you brotha. I edit my own videos right now. I plan on hiring someone to help take off some of the workload, to get more videos out. But yes currently all me.
The Yankees don't rebuild. They retool. I don't remember the last time the Yankees picked in the Top 10 of picks, traded for the future. They trade prospects for who they want, buy who they want. If your "worst" is 82-80. Then you need to be thankful. Because some people have been waiting DECADES for their team to even taste the playoffs.
Cashman did NOT win 4 WS. He inherited a winning organization that was built by Gene Michael. Michael knew how to build a balanced team consisting of home-grown talent, free agents and key trades. Cashman only know how to buy the occasional free agent (especially before the last WS winning team in 2009), half of whom have failed to approach expectations. Hal needs to reset the organization with a new management team.
I don't usually comment on videos but as a fellow youtuber it's really cool to see the amount of work you're putting into your videos compared to in the past, keep it up!
The New York Yankees face a significant challenge with their bullpen, particularly with the closing role. The closer's job is to seal victories and maintain leads, and when this role is compromised, it affects the entire team. Recently, Yankees' starting pitchers have given their all to secure leads, only to see their efforts squandered by an unreliable closer, impacting their morale and performance. Frequent blown saves are demoralizing and have shaken the team's confidence, disrupting their momentum and making it difficult to build winning streaks crucial for playoff contention. Clay Holmes has shown flashes of brilliance but is not a reliable high-stakes closer. His inability to close games consistently is hurting the team. In the playoffs, every game is crucial, and the margin for error is minimal. The Yankees need a proven, reliable closer who can handle high-pressure situations and deliver consistently to stabilize the bullpen and restore team confidence. Additionally, holding onto LeMahieu and Torres past their prime has been detrimental to the team's performance. To have a shot at the playoffs, it is imperative that Cashman addresses these issues quickly. Acquiring a dependable closer, bolstering the starting rotation and middle relief, and making tough decisions regarding underperforming veterans are necessary steps.
Being the gm of the Yankees is like playing franchise mode on beginner difficulty with game sliders moved 100% in your favor. You literally can just buy whatever player you want. The Florida marlins are like a AAAA team for NYY to take whoever they want from
Volpes 21 game hit streak is only 1 away from the Yankees franchise record? In what? Because I'm fairly certain DiMaggio's 56 was in pinstripes... can anyone clarify what I'm missing?
Remember two months ago when we are saying that the Yankees would have a “good problem “ in too many starting pitchers and an odd man out between Stanton, Verdugo and Dominguez? Holy cow that lasted about a minute and a half!
Aaron's "magical" season was brought to you by MLB, that's right MLB, the producers of the Goldilocks baseball that was found to be in use in the Yankees' house more than any other stadium. So, he may have not been juicing, but he did have some help.
This was a amazing video to watch man, really enjoyed it, you earned a sub! Hopefully the Yankees start to play well again because I go to NY next week and I'm going to see a subway series game in the Bronx
The season is a marathon now a sprint! I’m still fully confident that we’ll come out of this all star break rested and healthy so we can get the train back on track to compete for October
This didn't age well. We're still in first, 21 games above .500, and are tied with the Indians and Dodgers at 71 wins each for the best record w/ the Orioles having their own struggles. I think it's the Indians year though. Their fans deserve it!
It's literally like May for Cole, he started throwing three months after mid Feburary. So August is like May for him. August has the easist schedule of the year for the first place NYY. Cy Young form.
It really doesn't LOOK like they are built for the big games. On paper that team looks vicious. But then you look over at Baltimore and see how consistent everyone on the Orioles is and it just seems like the Yankees are trying their strategy of "just throw money at it until it works" again. Meanwhile the Orioles still have the best farm system in the league, a roster loaded from top to bottom with talent that they've managed to turn into results. The Orioles only real problem area has been their pitchers and that's not surprising to anyone who's read word one about them. Yet this year, despite over half of their regular starters going down with injury, or still being out from previous injuries, they still managed to have a better record at the break by beating the Yankees the day before the break. Corbin Burnes has been a monster as advertised. And with the other guys all getting closer and closer to getting back into health this team is likely going to start their peak playing right as the playoffs start and will be a problem for everyone. The Yankees though seem like they could crumble before they get that far. I still think they'll finish 2nd in the AL, as that much talent shouldn't ever finish lower in any division.
Yankee fans are so spoiled. They BOO an owner that hasn’t given them a lossing record in his tenure, who despite whatever his and his team’s flaws are, never tries to tank or to not make bad moves. We have not one not two but four World Series appearances this century. The ONLY other teams to have at least three World Series appearances this century are the red Sox’s, Astros, giants, dodgers, cardinals. And fyi-these successful teams have had lossing records this season. One even left its own league to another league
oooof the foreshadowing lol now we know judge is just a regular season player who cant perform in post season and dodgers just crushed them in the ws. and now soto might even leave the yankees
I don’t think I’ve seen a more mediocre player get an unnecessary amount of love than Anthony Volpe. Dude gets so much love at games and yet he’s so painfully mediocre to bad.
Cashman and Boone have gotta go because they are causing the Yankees from not advancing to the playoffs and the World Series to claim their 28th World Championship title as long as Cashman and Boone are still there we may never reach another World Series again this is due to them taking people out due to injuries players getting traded and a bunch of players getting suspended after being ejected. This is absolutely ridiculous that we haven’t been to a World Series in 15 years because Cashman and Boone are holding us back and preventing us from seeing another World Series again. Hopefully after their contract is over we can advance to the WS and claim our title once again
14:30 I’m sure I didn’t hear that right….did it say that the 21 game hitting streak was only 1 away from the Yankees franchise record? Because that’s not accurate
and 3 weeks later, they are once again the best team in the league LOL crazy how people will call the Yankees "frauds" but then jump on Baltimore's dick when they both have the same record, or call the Phillies the "best team in the league" when they had a collapse themselves (not to mention getting swept by the Yankees lol)
Plus you have fools came in thinking the video aged well just because of what happened in Game 5. It doesn't change the fact that they still made it to the WS and the Dodgers were the favorites to win it entering the series. Make no mistake, Game 5 was a massive choke job but there's no guarantee the Yankees would have won the series as Game 6 and 7 would have been in LA. It was still better than the struggle they had months ago.

The Red Sox exposed them in that series when they stole 6 bases in one game.. Its been downhill ever since for the Yanks.. Sox were like 2 games over .500 and now, weeks later after the slide, the Sox are out of first by 5 games.. Trevino going down with an injury ia a perfect chance to bring in their prospect catcher..

They’re well over .500, have the same wins as the Dodgers, and a couple off the most wins in mlb. Yankees fans are wild. Teams have flaws and losing streaks.
The problem is their division. Baltimore is looking like a powerhouse for the foreseeable future. Their stacked farm system is going to carry them for a few years. If new ownership can find a way to make good smart trades, it’s going to be hard to get past them

One thing that’s not talked about in this video was how the 2022 team was when it entered the playoffs. They suffered a massive collapse in late July throughout August and they BARELY recovered to win the division. They struggled in the ALDS and got completely bodied in the ALCS.

As a Yankees fan I feel like this has happened four years in a row. Beginning of the season is great then for one month the team completely collapses
Well it did happen last year
2021 was plain inconsistent and 2023 had tons of injuries.

Guess they collapsed again now. Worst inning in WS history.
It’s really funny to see Yankees fans cry about going slightly above .500 as a white Sox fan. Until you make the playoffs once every about 20 years then you can complain

If I made a more so history video on NY, i’d absolutely point that out. Those 4 championships weren’t because he built the team.

Yankees also badly need players who are able to put the ball in player and get on base. The team isn't clutch at all...

Yeah I also was like "huh???" when he said that.

This didn't age well. We're still in first, 21 games above .500, and are tied with the Indians and Dodgers at 71 wins each for the best record w/ the Orioles having their own struggles. I think it's the Indians year though. Their fans deserve it!
Oh this aged like fine fine wine
Saying they did a rebuild is a stretch
I. F’n. Love. It!!!!! Keep it coming
