- John performs at Farm Aid IV on April 7, 1990 at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis. Heavyweight champion James "Buster" Douglas has the honor of introducing John. The set list is as follows:
1. Paper In Fire
2. Rain On The Scarecrow
3. Pink Houses
Anyone who raises 50 million dollars to aid American farmers and still lives in the same town he grew up in is okay in my book.
Exactly
YES
Well he grew up in Seymour and lives in Bloomington now, but close enough. He helped make Seymour pretty popular.
I met Kenny Arnoff the day after this at union station
Always like Mellencamp. BUT, one question NOBODY has been able to answer is this. After all these years of Farm Aid, and still the American farmer is fighting for survival from season to season, where has all that money gone? Can anyone name one single farmer, anywhere in 'Merica, who has received financial support from Farm Aid?
the best Mellencamp band lineup by far with Larry Crane, Kenny Aronoff and Toby Myers
Don't forget his right hand.. Mike Wanchic..
I'd give anything to go back to these days best times ever
Watching this makes me appreciate Mr Mellencamp even more now than ever. He’s one cool dude. And can dance Walks the walk ...
John had the coolest voice, hair and look and who knew...dance moves! Love it!
So very awesome. I watched this on TV when it happened.
This was a terrific performance!! I probably watched it back then as I am a Huge Mellencamp fan. He looked and sounded so good at this time. He's always had a good dancing groove and I just love it! ♥️JM!
Really awesome. He really brings the energy and the message.
Thank you John. You stood for something and made a difference in a time when you had to work hard as a performing artist. I've seen your most recent interviews and am in total agreement with you.
Enjoy your life, create your very beautiful artwork and know that your fans truly respect you. God bless you. 🙏
Truly legendary! A class act. Looking forward to seeing him live next month!
Wow didn't no he was back! Hope he comes to Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Man I got to say as a lead singer for three decade he had the coolest look hair and voice... and who knew dance moves to boot
I was 20 years old at this show. Had press box seats and backstage passes! Such an incredible day, an incredible roster of artists, and amazing performances.
Jealous.
Did you shake his hand
I just walked backstage I was living in Champaign that's my hometown didn't cost me nothing
It’s 2023. I’m here for it. What ever happened to rock
💨💨💨💨💨🌳🌳🌳🌳🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rain on the Scarecrow gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. So profound!
Great set. Thank you for sharing.
Wow, Thank you for the Song 💓 🕊️🍀.... 💃💃💃🙏🍀
Been to over a dozen of his shows in Toronto (and beyond). LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE MELLENCAMP!
Got to go backstage at a Mellencamp concert but didn't get to meet John however Got to hang out with Larry and he was one of the coolest people I ever met, courtesy of my buddy Kenny 😅😊
I need to hear more about that! :-)
@@OMARMINOUCHE my buddy Kenny is a rock historian having worked with many bands, that show was at the Omni in Atlanta, one great night, recently saw him again at the fox, he pulls a girl on the stage and later I meet her at a party, funny story you just had to be there lol
The Man...The Myth...The Legend...
Now that is music from the heart! It's an embarrassment as to what one hear's on the radio today!
This band was tight. Love Larry Crane!
Kenny Aronoff is a beast on the drum kit so underrated.
@@Paul8820 Aronoff/Crane are the Mellencamp sound.
Whatever happened to Larry? Did John let him go or did he quit to do other things? He just disappeared it seems. The Scarecrow and Lonesome Jubilee albums were by far his best IMO. After that he had a couple decent records but never came close to replicating the sound and song quality of those two. I still kept buying all his stuff until about 10 years ago. His voice is so rough now and he does way too many folk type songs.
@@rzrbckmz23 he left over money. Mellencamp was terribly difficult back then.
@@Spaceman1968, have heard that and John probably wouldn't disagree, but when we are young we strive for perfection, it's all a means to an end, John is much better and more than he even gives himself credit for
God Bless you John
Best version of his band. Miss Toby, Larry and Kenny.✌️
Back in the day, Mellencamp had the sauce, for sure.
What a great concert I was there that night.
I was too! I drove down from Fort Wayne with my 3 friends. When Elton John sang Candle in the wind for Ryan White, we lost it... Ryan passed away that night.
Everyone was crying when Elton said this one’s for Ryan
Just gave me chills😢 love that young man and what he did for community of people with AIDS!!! RIP 🙏 Ryan 💙🧡💙
God speaks thru him.
Does anyone see a Michael Huchence resemblance, looks and sound? Pure confidence and he owned the stage.
Perhaps John Mellencamp was an inspiration for Michael Hutchance and he modeled himself after John. I agree there are similarities in appearance, totally different music style.
I think John pre - dated INXS by several years.
Someone should do a side by side comparison. I think they both got popular in 1981-82. @@susantraikovich6558
@@musicfanhawk4523Jim Morrison was Michael's inspiration. John and Michael started around the same time. The inspiration came earlier.
With eugenicist, Bill Gates gobbling up America’s farmland, this movement is as vital as it ever was! America’s farmland must remain in the hands of The People… The farmers… The family farm! #SAVEAMERICA
I attended this Farm Aid in Indianapolis.

Was there!
Awesome 🙏🇺🇸✝️🌿🕊️💖✨
Super guapos todos en especial Larry carne
John couldn’t dance for shit but he puts on a hell of show
Look at arnoff wow still looks same but better
FFA is he still active so it makes sense
I was there. Sound was terrible for a lot of the bands, was very good for Elton of course.
Where does the time go?
Jon Bon jovi shamelessly ripped off his stage moves.
And i feel like he even tried to look and sound like him too

A donation is a-shame it should be a collection.
I am going to be king one day.even Joe Biden said that all I have to do is come and sit on my throne and I have already got my rules in place.
Who’s the Blondie who introduced Buster Douglas
Nina Blackwood (MTV VJ)
Caugar petty seagar no better
Mike, no, dance's with the same spirit Scott Wieland did 😋
Jaykee the Wolf: hey, luis. you mean at one time folk helped farmers without having to bitch about nitrides, composts or fertilizers.
Luis: yep. also no one cared to be other than a man or a WOman.
Jaykee the Wolf: oh..
Compare this to the losers on the music scene today!!! THIS WAS MUSIC, with Lyrics that MEANT SOMETHING!! John was and is such an amazing Patriot and though I feel he's strayed, I pray he comes back to Almighty God, as it was God whom gave him this incredible talent! An Absolute LEGEND!!
What the f*ck was Farm Aid all about anyway, I remember it but I don't remember why it was a thing.
To raise money to help farmers save their land, continue to farm and to bring food to the people.
Welfare for farmers before corn subsidies. They are still on welfare. Welfare don't work for ghetto or farm dwellers.
It's still a thing every year.
To keep one of the oldest american jobs in the hands of americans and not in the hands of "our" government
nah, just poor...
gona try to get enough for groceries tomarrow
He once was a God, but now he just sucks on all accounts.
And is a raging libtard to boot.
Good. Mellencamp doesn't support racism, rapists, and Russia like GOP does. He doesn't want cancer patients to die from being locked out of healthcare. He doesn't support a moron traitor President. I think I like Mellencamp even more now.
@@uncommonsense9452 ...Well,at least,he is not a white racist,a neo-Nazi,or trade in his white sheet for a You Tube comment!
