It’s sad for Beatrice and I understand that she wants to get her daughter back, especially because she didn’t had a choice back then. But Evangeline real parents are the one who raised and cared for her, this couple. They have morally more rights to keep her than Beatrice and she shouldn’t have tried to kidnap her. I am kinda sad that she can’t see her anymore but if she had been more trustful towards the couple and not trying to kidnap their daughter, she could have seen her. This is her fault. I am very glad that this story gave Evangeline back to her real parents and not Beatrice, as blood means nothing and I feel like a lot of people forget that.
If you ask me, Beatrice is a piece of work! She has an affair with a married man and later with a slave who could have been killed for getting the lady of the house pregnant. And then she steals the daughter back? I feel no sympathy for her. This is a great story, though.
@@TimidStormeah I agree but Evangeline bio dad is not a slave. He is a servant. Slaves and servants are not the same and we are not sure if he was killed, threatened or just fired by her husband. Either way, they did not killed servants for having babies with their wives (or at least they did it in secret, as it was illegal to kill someone who had rights, even in a low class). The slaves were killed with no remorse yes but for the servants, most of them were fired or threatened. This one is a servant so Beatrice thought that the worst that could happen was him getting fired. Still not nice tho but different than condemning him to death.

as a very small child my parents had to lose custody of me due to drugs, and my mom faught and faught to get me back, which she failed, and this reminds me of that but through her perspective
Omg the story is cute, but I'm not sure Hupmhrey's children from 1st merriage would just let the young stepmother stay in charge of the family estate xD also NOT having children means NOT doing woohoo right? I'm pretty sure protection was considered a sin back then. Also I hope Beatrice can find love again, she was like 31 when her husband died, she can snatch herself another one and have like, 6 more children xD so we will see Can't wait for the Van Taylor storyline next!
Correction; protection wasn't considered a sin back then. It just didn't exist! However, (pardon my language) the "pull out method" was often used. That part could be interperted as a sin bc "spilling the seed" is a thing.
@soulight6091 it did exist, it just wasn't exactly reliable and it's nothing like we know now. They had methods of making condoms out of animal parts which could be used or herbs that were said to help, but that was the extent of it

That’s more sad than Prudence Husband I meant It was Traumatizing for prudence meaning her baby after her husband’s death and now Beatrice a banded her daughter when her cruel husband didn’t want no children when he said he already had children. He didn’t marry for children🥺
To keep seeing her and talking to her…yeah I agree. But to take back her daughter with her when THEY are the one who raised her, so they should be the one who will continue to raise her, no. What Beatrice wanted was to take Evangeline back with her. And separating her from her parents. It is absolutely normal that her parents don’t want Beatrice to raise their daughter instead of them. And Beatrice is the one at fault because she aggravated the situation by kidnapping her when she could have just done a compromise where I am sure the parents would have accepted her to just see Evangeline and talk to her without raising her.
I hope that one day Evangeline can see Beatrice again
