Using Graphic Rules Maker alone didn't help me but together with Lazyduchess's Launcher it fixed the ''Failed to find DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter'' error for me, so I could successfully launch the game. Thanks a lot!
@@alyss4192 things I can suggest: make sure you use the right device, play around with your sound configuration in general (both OS and the game), try to reinstall the game from scratch, try to follow a different installation guide, try googling about sound issues with old games in general (perhaps it isn't related to the sims 2 specifically)

So I wasn't able to add any patches or fixes to my game. Now that I have the Lazy Duchess launcher, I can do it all! Ive been trying to figure this out for days, so thank you so much ! Your videos are so detailed and helpful.

I basically just commenting for the algorithm to save others the pain ...lol. On the plus side, on that day I found lots of awesome sims 2 resources and content creators. I've been playing for over 10 years, I've had texture issues on and off, but the other day my NVIDIA Graphics Driver updated now I'm getting pink textures everywhere as soon as I load the game, so desperately trying to find any new information to fix it, hadn't heard of the Data Execution Prevention so thanks for that
Oh yeah the pink flashing is the most annoying thing ever :(( I read online that it can help if you try to run the game in windowed mode as well, maybe you can check if you have an integrated graphics card in your pc and try to run the game with that? The most annoying thing is that even now we are not entirely sure what causes this as some people do just fine with their newer nvidia cards and others suffer greatly with it

Omg! Thank you so much! I've played the sims 2 when I was younger and stopped playing for a long time. Recently I wanted to play it again but had alot of trouble getting it to work. It would download and load the game just fine but would constantly crash in CAS or when entering a household even after installing the Graphic rules maker and applying changes but I just downloaded the Lazyduchess launcher and everything worls perfectly!

You are a freakin GENIUS!! I have 18GB of CC and i was not about to give anything up! That one little tick has set me FREEE! Used to play on Win 8 and took 20 mins to load all my shit. I would go vacuum or do dishes ffs. But now i'm playing my fav Beachy hood on Win 10!! Takes 1-2 mins to load!! I messed with all the pink flashing advice out there on google for hours, probably for nothing!! JUST NEEDED THAT DAM TICK! Now it's back n forth from Planet Zoo to Sims 2 for me! TYTYTY!

I'm a bit of a TS2 veteran when it comes to this. I was so frustrated when I couldn't get it to run. I knew to use graphics rules maker, I had for ages. I had forgot to choose TS2 as the "game" on graphics rules maker. it defaulted to the body shop. just in case this helps someone. make sure to choose TS2 from the drop down menu. man i'm old.
I suppose the video can be useful although there's one issue that's common on newer Windows 10 computers is that they often don't ship with DVD/Blu-ray drives (for example, the AORUS 15G laptop I have) meaning anyone who has The Sims 2 on discs rather than the Ultimate Collection can have a problem. It could be possible to install using another PC with a disc drive and copying it to the Windows 10 computer but unfortunately the game will not start without using a USB DVD/Blu-ray drive or a modified exe file because of the disc check. The Sims Stories games and The Sims 3 have a similar problem. A useful tip for people who want to get a USB DVD (or Blu-ray drive), I'd recommend getting a name brand DVD/Blu-ray drive such as LG, Samsung, ASUS, or BUFFALO. Do NOT purchase a USB DVD/Blu-ray drive from a no-name company from Amazon (like Rioddas or Gotega) because these drives barely work and will likely fail (likely due to the board connecting in the enclosure failing). Also, I've seen reviews that these "new" no-name drives actually contain old drives that could possibly be salvaged from old laptops or possibly be old, defective, or RMAed drives that they're selling a new which can be a concern since you don't know how reliable these old drives are or how often they've been used.
My PC detects the .zip of LazyDuchess as a severe Trojan threat, did sombody who fixed the game with those tips had the same problem? It seems that I need more than de graphic rules maker to make it work (it stills shows the error "No DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter found on the system") and I have my doubts about if that .zip is reliable or not since my antivirus is saying that.
Antiviruses detect every modified .exe file, mine even detects the original SP9.exe after applying the 4gb patch. The lazyduchess launcher is used by lots of people, it's perfectly safe to use. If you get the direct x error, check if you have directx 9 installed to your system. It is required to work properly! 😊

When I installed the game, I actually selected the option to install directx 9 but when it finished it said that it didn't installed it because I have newer versions of directx and it's not necesary. But it seems it is. Some time ago I tried to install it manually but I keep having the same error. I don't really know how to solve it if it's only thing of directx :(

For me flickering usually comes up when my.smooth edges are on the wrong setting, try to modify that in your game (either turn it off or on based on how you have it now) for me that usually solves this 😊

didn't work for me because the Sims2rpc updater couldn't run, then I downloaded the .NET Framework, tried to install it but my system says is already installed. :( HOWEVER, I really liked the video anyways because you narrated very simple and helpful. Everytime I start sims my full screen turns into a minimum sizes screen. I don't know what's wrong.. I tried with both graphic rule maker and changing my resolution in the sgr file.. So annoying!

When attempting to launch the game, McAffee popped up saying that it blocked a "virus". It thought that some Peng4 thing was a threat, but I googled it and it's not. You might have said how to fix this some time after the point where I paused to type this comment, but I'm posting this ahead of time just in case you didn't.
I just don't know what to do, my game is playing the UI looks nice but the sims everything is like distorted a bit. I also have a problem in CAS, the camera looks like zoomed in and doesn't let me see the face of the sim very well..

Whatever I've done I still have trouble with that "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0... bla bla" issue. I have integrated Intel UHD 630. Does anybody have the same problem?
That error message means that the game still doesn't recognize your graphics card, sometimes Graphic Rules Maker does that unfortunately! I'd recommend checking this thread over Leefish: www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=7651
@@CozyPixels It didn't work either. I surfed forums and find a problem, sort of. Game doesn't generate config-log properly (\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs\-config-log.txt). Mine doesn't show the information about my Intel UHD 630.
Well, I figured out what the problem is (kind of). For that way to launch and play Sims 2 you'll need a discrete video card, not integrated. For example, mine GTX 1080 broke and my only option was to play on remain Intel UHD 630. Sims 4 works fine, but the oldy-goldy Sims 2 doesn't see it even after uploading files and programs from that guide. Then I needed to buy a laptop to study and I managed to buy a decent Dell with GTX 1050m on board. And Sims 2 finally worked. So, my advise is to use descrete video cards, not integreted (or at least not the Intel brand).
One more thing worth mentioning. I decided to reinstall the operating system (Windows 10) to reset all the drivers and the system itself, 'cause my system became a messy thing instead a PC. And the fresh Windows 10 allows me to finally install The Sims 2 in the way showed in this video. So, maybe you have the same problem. And if you have, try to reisntall the OS.
10:28 so it will not launch and keeps asking for a no-CD/cracked sims2EP9.exe for RPC to work. I did not install with disks but with the EA launcher and idk where to find this D:
Is there a way to completely uninstall the sims and have it reinstall in an unalterted state because the lazyduchess launcher wont work and it screwed up my game badly...it's not playable and I cna't even get the duchess launcher to even work.

I'm hoping someone can help but after doing everything it seems like when using the lazy duchess launcher for some reason camera rotation on live mode is unplayably laggy and choppy but it seems launching from the EA app doesnt have this issue? Hello, I am stuck when trying to install sims 2 with the dvd;s. When installing it asks me to switch from cd 1 to cd2 and after that it just says insert correct cd.. But nothing works ? I need help
When I tried installing the rule maker it said there was a virus. For anyone who has the same issue you can install an older version of the software if you scroll down on the website
Do you need all the sims expansions in order to play sims 2? I only have 7 expansions and there all spread out cross different expansions and patches. University, Nightlife, Pets, Seasons, Teen Style Stuff, Freetime and Apartment Life.
No not at all, you can play perfectly fine with just those expansions, but you still have to follow the part of this video where it talks about CD versions like install order and patches, but of course only get the patches for the expansions you own 😊
It used to work for me but doesn’t anymore, all graphics rules maker does is lock me to 800x600 resolution. Tried absolutely everything :( I tried installing it on another laptop and I just get an error right after opening the game.
Did you edit the Graphic Rules file manually like I showed at the end of the video? What type of video card do you have? I'm pretty sure we can solve it to run nicely 😊 if you want join the discord server and we can figure out something!

I ordered a Hitachi - LG data storage, super multi, slim portable DVD writer and works perfectly with the original Sims 2 CDs

Antiviruses detect every modified .exe file, mine even detects the original SP9.exe after applying the 4gb patch. The lazyduchess launcher is used by lots of people, it's perfectly safe to use. If you get the direct x error, check if you have directx 9 installed to your system. It is required to work properly! 😊
@@CozyPixels thank you very much for answering! When I installed the game, I actually selected the option to install directx 9 but when it finished it said that it didn't installed it because I have newer versions of directx and it's not necesary. But it seems it is. Some time ago I tried to install it manually but I keep having the same error. I don't really know how to solve it if it's only thing of directx :(
This video helped me a lot further into the game, so thank you for that. The only problem I'm still having and can't figure out is flickering whenever I'm in Sim Creator or playing on a household and I can't seem to figure it out
For me flickering usually comes up when my.smooth edges are on the wrong setting, try to modify that in your game (either turn it off or on based on how you have it now) for me that usually solves this 😊
@@CozyPixels For me, it becomes worst when it's on low, but even when I have it on the highest there is still some flickering just not as bad

IT WORKS! also windows 11 with NVIDIA 1660
didn't work for me because the Sims2rpc updater couldn't run, then I downloaded the .NET Framework, tried to install it but my system says is already installed. :(
HOWEVER, I really liked the video anyways because you narrated very simple and helpful. I like your style so if in the future I'm able to make my sims 2 works I'll keep coming back for more tips and new content.

I just downloaded lazy duchess patch (zip file) and I have ESET NOD antivirus paid version, there were no viruses in it (december 2022)

(I used to change V sync / update my NVIDIA geforce / change 3D NVIDIA / download another programs / re upload the game => all of this didn’t work. The game was lagging a lot. After I do as you in this Video I play the sims 2 again the problem are gone. Yeahhh)

Everytime I start sims my full screen turns into a minimum sizes screen. I don't know what's wrong.. I tried with both graphic rule maker and changing my resolution in the sgr file.. So annoying!
Open up Sims 2, go into a world and then go to the "display" button.
Change your screen size in there.

I just don't know what to do, my game is playing the UI looks nice but the sims everything is like distorted a bit. I also have a problem in CAS, the camera looks like zoomed in and doesn't let me see the face of the sim very well..

That error message means that the game still doesn't recognize your graphics card, sometimes Graphic Rules Maker does that unfortunately! I'd recommend checking this thread over Leefish: www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=7651

Game doesn't generate config-log properly (\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs\-config-log.txt).
Mine doesn't show the information about my Intel UHD 630.
Well, I figured out what the problem is (kind of).
For that way to launch and play Sims 2 you'll need a discrete video card, not integrated.
For example, mine GTX 1080 broke and my only option was to play on remain Intel UHD 630.
Sims 4 works fine, but the oldy-goldy Sims 2 doesn't see it even after uploading files and programs from that guide.
Then I needed to buy a laptop to study and I managed to buy a decent Dell with GTX 1050m on board. And Sims 2 finally worked.
So, my advise is to use descrete video cards, not integreted (or at least not the Intel brand).
One more thing worth mentioning.
I decided to reinstall the operating system (Windows 10) to reset all the drivers and the system itself, 'cause my system became a messy thing instead a PC.
And the fresh Windows 10 allows me to finally install The Sims 2 in the way showed in this video. So, maybe you have the same problem. And if you have, try to reisntall the OS.
If you use George, it works on Windows 11
10:28 so it will not launch and keeps asking for a no-CD/cracked sims2EP9.exe for RPC to work. I did not install with disks but with the EA launcher and idk where to find this D:

Is there a way to completely uninstall the sims and have it reinstall in an unalterted state because the lazyduchess launcher wont work and it screwed up my game badly...it's not playable and I cna't even get the duchess launcher to even work.

I'm hoping someone can help but after doing everything it seems like when using the lazy duchess launcher for some reason camera rotation on live mode is unplayably laggy and choppy but it seems launching from the EA app doesnt have this issue? I'm not the most tech savvy person but if anyone has any recs on how to possibly fix this I'm willing to try nearly anything
i figured out it was the camera option in the launcher, turning it off fixed the stuttering on rotation!

Hello, I am stuck when trying to install sims 2 with the dvd;s. When installing it asks me to switch from cd 1 to cd2 and after that it just says insert correct cd.. But nothing works ? I need help

Do you need all the sims expansions in order to play sims 2? I only have 7 expansions and there all spread out cross different expansions and patches.
University, Nightlife, Pets, Seasons, Teen Style Stuff, Freetime and Apartment Life.
No not at all, you can play perfectly fine with just those expansions, but you still have to follow the part of this video where it talks about CD versions like install order and patches, but of course only get the patches for the expansions you own 😊
It used to work for me but doesn’t anymore, all graphics rules maker does is lock me to 800x600 resolution. Tried absolutely everything :( I tried installing it on another laptop and I just get an error right after opening the game.
Did you edit the Graphic Rules file manually like I showed at the end of the video? What type of video card do you have? I'm pretty sure we can solve it to run nicely 😊 if you want join the discord server and we can figure out something!
