great review..i today was fitted for a PING G425 Max Driver / 5 wood / 7 wood....all i gotta say is WOW...soooooo forgiving and straight as an arrow......i am 56 years old at 5'7 and was fitted into the ALTA CB regular shafts minus 1/2 an inch on each club.... was hitting driver 250 carry roll out to 270 average...very happy with that...hitting the 5 wood 220 carry and roll out to 235....can't wait to get them....cheers all from Canada...
Been a long time since Ive been here to the channel. Must say, the production level, flow, and quality has greatly improved. Really solid stuff for a review. Tons of great info here. Feel like after watching this I learned everything I need to know about this driver.
Andy, another great production. It’s almost to the point I’m not sure which I enjoy more. Your down to earth, honest reviews, or your superb cinematography. I think I’ll just have to keep watching for another year to see. Thanks 🙏🏻 for your hard work.
Had the G425 Max with Tensi Orange in the bag to demo for 5 rounds now. All I can state is over my G400 Max it wins on every count. Biggest thing though is that it is so stable. Longer than the G400 but most of a fairway finder inn my hands. Cheers Andy. Keep up the great work.
I had to leave my driver back in the garage as my slice with it was so bad. I got the Ping G425 driver yesterday and i can only say its made me put this driver in my bag. I love it
Forgiveness is performance of miss hits short and long, people confuse it with left and right misses but if a face is open or closed to a path nothings stopping that. MOI is resistance to twisting off the COG allowing the gear affect (rounded face) to work on the ball
I've seen a few review of the 425 now and I have not seen any negative ones . This review is the one that's most relevant to me as club golfer. I have the 410 in my bag and never really loved it. Although it is a good club . The sound of the 425 reminds me of the ping G driver from 5 years ago. I will give this a try . Thanks again for a honest review Andy.
Although I hit a Mavrik Driver with a 40 gram regular flex and am truly satisfied with it, the rest of my bag are G400 and G410 hybrids, and woods, nothing beats the Pings for shaft quality, head comp and adjustability, I carry a GHIN of 6 and I am 74, swing the driver at 87 mph and average 230 at 7,600 feet eleveation here in New Mexico, it is my opinion, like yours that the Pings just perform great...Love your reviews.
Another great review. Clear, concise and no nonsense. I bought a G400 Max based on your review Andy so it may be time to trade up. I trust your opinion Sir. Production values on these vids just get better and better.
Great review Andy👍 I agree with you that the G400MAX was a great driver for the average Club Golfer, though you could never say that it was a "looker". But if the G425 is even more forgiving than the 400MAX, now that they have finally produced a driver that looks stunning they are going to have a Monster year! Though I can't say that I am a fan of how it sounds, it still sounds a bit too "Ping-y" for my personal taste. PS as others have mentioned the camera work on the vid was simply in a different class, well done TeamAndy👍
Thank you great review. Would love to see you do a comparison between the PXG Xf Gen 2 and the G425 Max, the PXG is the highest Moi club on the market (slightly higher MOI than the G400 Max). I recently got the PXG in the PXG sale for only £250 which was cheaper than the max second hand, so would be interesting to see how the cheaper PGX stands up to the new expensive Ping 😅
Great review mate. I just got fitted for a g425 sft. I traded in a g400 sft on it and here is my thoughts. Sound wise I much preferred the g 400. Having said that, the g 425 is a middle of the fairway finder dispersion wise for me. Length is about 5 yards further as well. I also have a cobra king sz regular driver weight forward. The cobra sound is awesome and the length is superior, but again I agree with you on the dispersion. I much prefer middle of fairway over distance all day. I’m holding onto the cobra for now as well but my G425 will be my regular gamer here on out.
I have the G425 Max and it is definitely the best driver I have ever used. Just put an Autoflex shaft in it and gained 20yds hitting 12-14 fairways every round. Handicap 5
I hit this club wasnt big fan g410 easily better plus very quiet compared to this. I have the lst model which is rated almost best driver on the market right now
Ive been looking around RUclips for reviews on the G425 as a replacement to my Speedzone Xtreme, this is the best video I’ve seen so far and very relatable as I too are an average golfer!👌🏻
It's not just ball speed, it's also spin. If they can decrease the amount of additional spin off a toe strike there will in theory be less curve and distance loss
I tried ping G410 plus and the sft, the G410 sft was more forgiving for me with no real distance drop off, still gaming the sft as my fairway finder, great content as always.
Thanks for a great review Andy. Really like my G410 Plus but will have to try the 425 when golf is open again here in Ireland. Look forward to playing Conwy one day.
Great video Andy. If I was looking to switch from my current 410, you've definitely made the case for me to at least try it. But, I got the 410 discounted, love it and just invested in a new set of P770 irons. On a personal note, Ping has been the best driver brand for me over the years. I loved the G10 and G25. I made a mistake buying a custom fitted, very expensive Epic Flash and found my way back to Ping with the 410. I'm staying with the brand. On another note, I forward to the data on a lot of the review videos on other channels, but you keep me interested through out.
Fabulous review. I play Ping G series (2016 model) Driver , 5w and 4h. This year I think I'm going to get fitted for an upgrade to my driver and will definitely consider the G425, but the newly released PXG 0211 driver also has caught my eye (and it's current intro price is $295 US). I'll get that sorted out with the fitting...thanks Andy, love the channel!
My driving issue is mostly length or lack of it and father time says I ain't going to swing it any faster. However, I have embarked on a fitness regime to increase my flexibility then swing speed. So as soon as lockdown 3 is over we shall see and it will be Ping for me.
Andy, based on your review of the 400 max and 410 plus last year, I went out and bought a used 400max and replaced my Titleist 917d2 (same specs/no fitting). Just Wow! I second the requests for a 400 vs 425 max head to head review. If you see value in the upgrade, I’m ready for a fitting and spending the money. Hard to believe my dispersion can get much better but 5-10 yards carry may just put me over the edge. Thanks!!
Andy, I have a G400max and will not replace that club until I see your review on how it compares to the g425max. The 400max was a game changer for me so would love to get your, as always, honest opinion. How about a video comparing the 400max driver and 7 wood to the new 425’s. I carry a Titleist 7 wood and your 425 review has my strong interest.
Good review Andy. Nice looking driver I havnt had a Ping driver since the Rapture V2 which was a great club. Had a hit of a 410 last year felt really good. I normally look at my bad hits for forgiveness as I'm using a Callaway 815 Alpha had it since they come out I'm normally pretty consitant and straight with driver. But I find my bad shots off the heal are still going a good distance. Might have to try the 425 keep up the good videos.
Ping is always a safe bet ! They have made great drivers for years now , I’ve still got the G5 & the G10 in the garage for a substitution of the TSI2 mis behaves 💪, Good honest review Andy , look forward to the rest of them 👌
I've just seen this club reviewed on Dan Hendriksen site and it was very loud in his studio, so I was very surprised that you found the sound was muted compared to the previous model, personally I don't mind the sound if the club does the job ! as has been said before, your presentation cannot be faulted, keep up the good work, cheers.
Really enjoyed that Andy. Best review i have seen, very honest and to the point. Great work mate, looking forward to all the reviews in the coming weeks 👍🏼
I will wait for the new Callaway Epic Flash successor and try comparing that with the G425 max. What I dislike are those huge heads, I really like the 440ccm heads... But impressive comparison results. Thx for the review!
@@TheAverageGolfer It is out already? Wow, looking forward very much to seeing your review. I really want one of them in my bag, after having crashed my old Epic driver in a too narrow range box (though it seems to have often at that range, judging by the hit marks)
Excellent review, I don’t think I’ll change my 410 .. I do have 425 fairway, terrific club and sounds nothing like the driver , it has a deep thud sound . 😉🏌️♂️⛳️🍻
Good video as always my question is why is everyone not comparing it to the 400 Max which is the model it really replaces? many fitters will say that ping many times make a club that outperforms multiple generations I know influencers have to make the manufacturer happy but the plane truth in-depth 100 shots testing over several days is always the best
Really excellent review ! I’m still gaming G400 ..but this ping newbie got me thinking? ( our driver speeds/ distances are identical.. is why I appreciate Sully driver reviews)
Great videography mate! Looking shype! Good review. I game a G400 Max and have enjoyed it but I have to say I really like the looks of the 0211 irons and the driver. I'm leaning towards updating my bag again! Ping has grown blasé in my eyes.
can you please do an in-depth review of the SFT Ping G425? I need to know can you play the club if you have a natural push being a right-hander I own a Ping G 400 Max, and it is a great driver, but I'm always on the right.
I just think this is so frustrating with everything going on at the moment. I see all these drivers that are stunning. Then I look at the specs the shaft lengths and think as a average golf I can play at that length I need a fitting. Can you get a fitting no. Moan over great review
It's hard as hell to cut a driver shaft to size for more forgiveness and obtain the proper swing weight. It takes a lot of club fitting science and the proper tools to get this right. The big club companies don't care..
Ok Andy what do you normally hit on the 17th ? It’s a par5 for me as even risking driver I can’t reach in two Come to think of it I don’t think I’ve ever even scored a point in stableford on that hole How does it compare to your big Bertha ? Andy
forgiveness has more to do with the face "hotness" than MOI in my opinion. However, I think it is a combination of both, plus having a fit club that leads to the maximum forgiveness a player can achieve with a club.
Looks good - I think manufacturers are cottoning on that it’s dispersion that sells their products to handicap Golfer’s- great review and production, very arty 😉
my take on "forgiveness" is that I want to feel a very stable club head even when I "explore" the limits of the face - what I really do not like is when I feel the club head twisting through impact. I am currently playing an original Epic. The Epic is not wonderfully stable through impact at least not the way I swing it! I was expecting no meaningful difference in the numbers between G410 & G425 but the data does not lie - looks like there is something in Ping's claim of more forgiveness has some truth behind it Definitely one for me to try
Luvly bubbly...I've had a Callaway diablo for last 5yrs but its prob twice as old. I defo need an upgrade on 14 handicapp. I come over top a little still with fade and hit it high 270 average. Any advice? Have you any your selling!?!?
I guess I'm the one person who DIDN'T like the G400 MAX. Jumped at the chance to use it as a trade-in for a G410 SFT. I think it was the stock shaft more than anything. R-Flex felt like a spaghetti noodle, and bought 2 after-market shafts for them. Still missed a lot of fairways, but only by a yard or two.
Made it for 19.02, takeaway was late!😂 Definitely seemed a more muted sound on your test! I’d like to try the Max & the LST which would probably suit me more! Might be the first Ping driver in my bag since the old Tisi !
Thanks Andy. This is the review I was waiting for. I can relate to the Average Golfer. Where do you think Ping will place it as far as price goes and do you expect it to be competitive?
another great review, hoping to go for the g425 max, unfortunately due to shoulder injury my swing speed only around 65 to 70 mph, any advice on shafts? was looking at the Ping ALTA Distanza 40 gram, any advice appreciated, keep up the good work, all the best from Ireland
To me..... forgiveness would be that we would find the fairway more often. Ball speed does not mean squat if you are still missing the fairway. Just sayin.
OK Sounds awesome. What shaft and flex did you use? What loft did you use? Love your videos! I'm using the G400 Max with a 3 gram weight in the head right now.
Switched to Ping after finding every tree at my local course (Dougalston) and now i'm on the positive slide to lowering my HC. Why do we make this game harder?
Many thanks for a good review, fair and balanced. You are right, the G410 felt too hard, and in my view was in no sense an improvement over the G400: in fact, after trying the 410 I reverted to the 400. If your gut feel is that the G425Max is a superior G400, then that is high praise, and well worth trying. Certainly your dry ball figures in the 425/410 test tend to bear out that this latest version represents a distinct improvement over its predecessor, and if it really is an advance on the G400 then it is some club.
Another great video! I will be getting fitted for a new driver this Spring. I’m a 12 hcp and Considering either Ping G425 or Cobra Speedzone, your thoughts? My priority is forgiveness as I turn 60 this year. Also, what brand/style golf shoes are you wearing in this video? Very cool!!
ball speed around 150mph or slightly less should easily be enough for 260 y carry imho. I guess the spin numbers are too high..... Great comparison and unexpected clearly result in favour of the 425.
you had me at "new improved 400 max"!! 400 max current gamer as nothing has beat it the past 4 years, would love to see battle of the maxs, 400 max vs 425 max? ;0) BTW - playing tomorrow in 73* in sunny AZ
@@TheAverageGolfer we lived in Bury St Edmunds in mid 70s, Lakenheath AFB, cool to see new culture but ill stick to seeing the sun 9/10 days rather than the opposite ;0) love your vids!
I have the G425 3 wood and it's a monster. I've been gaming the G400 SFT for a few years now....you've given me pause to think about upgrading to the G425 Max. I will definitely have to give it a swing...especially since they are dropping the price on it now as the "outgoing" model. I guess there'll be a G430 or G450 or something coming out in January?? Ping typically has a 2 year cycle - so I'm sure something will be coming this winter.
@@TheAverageGolfer I’m really going to have to make a note of when new things are likely to come out. Did the same before I bought the 400s a couple of years ago within months the 410s came out 😂 mind you I suppose it was cheaper so not all that bad 😂

my take on "forgiveness" is that I want to feel a very stable club head even when I "explore" the limits of the face - what I really do not like is when I feel the club head twisting through impact.
I am currently playing an original Epic. The Epic is not wonderfully stable through impact at least not the way I swing it!
I was expecting no meaningful difference in the numbers between G410 & G425 but the data does not lie - looks like there is something in Ping's claim of more forgiveness has some truth behind it
Definitely one for me to try
Try a ventus shaft. They insanely reduce twisting.
Awesome review, thanks for always hitting it on the course.
Thats an issue right now unfortunately, such a shame
Have you thought of using "shot tracer" or similar, how about comparing the Ping and Big Bertha on the course please at the same time.
Hopefully new software soon, not a fan of the current shot tracer apps
Always make the takeaway priority!
Andy, important information we need : Price and what shaft is in demo
Alta CB stiff shaft, not quoted price because we only get RRP but I assume this will be in the £450 region
@@TheAverageGolfer Andy, many thanks
Thanks Andy. This is the review I was waiting for. I can relate to the Average Golfer. Where do you think Ping will place it as far as price goes and do you expect it to be competitive?
another great review, hoping to go for the g425 max, unfortunately due to shoulder injury my swing speed only around 65 to 70 mph, any advice on shafts? was looking at the Ping ALTA Distanza 40 gram, any advice appreciated, keep up the good work, all the best from Ireland
Had G400, went to 410..got extra yds but less fairways...looks like 425 is the one...
To me..... forgiveness would be that we would find the fairway more often. Ball speed does not mean squat if you are still missing the fairway. Just sayin.
Would love to know what golf bag you use!! It is a beauty
Loving the look of your shoes what r they
were both of these drivers tested on the same day ?
Ping G425 Max or Callaway Big Bertha B21????
I have both ... Just sold my B21 ... PING takes it for me.
Are these g 425 clubs built with high handicappers in mind?
What flex are you using?
Another great video! I will be getting fitted for a new driver this Spring. I’m a 12 hcp and Considering either Ping G425 or Cobra Speedzone, your thoughts? My priority is forgiveness as I turn 60 this year. Also, what brand/style golf shoes are you wearing in this video? Very cool!!
ball speed around 150mph or slightly less should easily be enough for 260 y carry imho. I guess the spin numbers are too high.....
Great comparison and unexpected clearly result in favour of the 425.
Enjoyed it Andy. Would like to see the data v my G400Max. Love my driver. Would the G425Max be an improvement?
Good future video Pete
Nice review......plus a Seed Ball!
you had me at "new improved 400 max"!! 400 max current gamer as nothing has beat it the past 4 years, would love to see battle of the maxs, 400 max vs 425 max? ;0) BTW - playing tomorrow in 73* in sunny AZ
Yes we need a head to head.......so jealous of your last sentence!
@@TheAverageGolfer we lived in Bury St Edmunds in mid 70s, Lakenheath AFB, cool to see new culture but ill stick to seeing the sun 9/10 days rather than the opposite ;0) love your vids!
Dave Keppler good for you Dave, I enjoyed Scottsdale very much
I have the G425 3 wood and it's a monster.
Can I swop one for my G410 I’ve had for 4 months 😂 please (no up charge 😂)
Hahaha if only eh
@@TheAverageGolfer I’m really going to have to make a note of when new things are likely to come out. Did the same before I bought the 400s a couple of years ago within months the 410s came out 😂 mind you I suppose it was cheaper so not all that bad 😂
