@@fenko309 here's what you gotta do. First understand wall jump. What you are doing wrong is that you jump immediately after dash and making yourself touch the spike with that early jump. First, do a perfect time jump (which you can obviously do) and dash upward and let it over and reach the highest part of that block you can, then only then jump. And keep pressing jump. You will get longer jump. And you know the rest. It's fairly easy. Took me over 400 deaths there to realize
For ppls having trouble with this: 1:13 you can also do a variant of that only works in some rooms, HOLD DOWN and right/left then DASH but still holding down and right/left then after a second stop holding down and right/left and press JUMP, you will still have a dash and will still travel the same distance of this one of the video im not a teacher and i dont speak english very well so i dont really know if that will make sense for you, and i dont really know the name of this dash variation so... thats it.
I take it I was one of the lucky people that learned wavedash and hyperdash early lol. Once you get used to the timing, its as easy as pressing the jump button. @@jonathanaguirre6508 I tried out the D-sides recently, they genuinely aren't as hard as they looked, it's so odd what a fresh pair of eyes will do to interpretation.
I think the beauty of the c sides and farewell is that they feel like kaizo levels that you don't have to be an actual god to beat
Just completed today chapter 9. Jesus, there is so much I want to say. How I thought doing the gate skip was smarter and faster than collecting the rest of the hearts, how every room is a puzzle of try and error, precise movement, how every time u advance in chapter u are kinda softlock cause u know that if u go back to map u have to do all that shit again, and the last room, how I was in zombie mode, everytime getting a little bit closer or dying on the first parts.
as someone who got the moon berry, we all start farewell like this
I really like how celest is one of those games where you see late game things and don’t think “ya I could do that”
Ive never seen anyone go back to watch the wavedash ppt a second time LMAOOOOO
Celeste: Cool. Now do the c-sides and golden strawberries.
Me: 😯😦😧😨😱 *nnnnope* ! I'm done. I beat you. Leave me alone!
The C Sides are easier than Farewell. Trust me. You can do them.
Don't worry about Golden Strawberries though
@@ChrisGreenLink Your words reached me on that day. And on *this* day, I finished them. Thank you for the push.
@@timothyjohnson5699 Hell yeah, man! Proud of you.
1:33 This part is hell. Probably the one I hate the most.
As someone in that exact situation, I feel you.
I just have to come to terms with the fact that I won't be able to beat that level.
Music is neat, tho.
u can beat it for sure take a break and try it another day.
@@Chr1s_1986 ngl, I used assist mode to get past some B-sides and jellyfish screens because they were too hard for me.
I thought Farewell was a normal stage, not a fucking marathon!
0:24 Bold of you to assume I actually got that far!
Edit: something unexpected has happened
I couldn't get past the third "advanced movement" tutorial.
When you try to watch the video thinking that it is only a stock image with music but it turns out the video partly froze only showing the thumbnail
Now THAT is an art piece
I can't even get to the hard parts. That jump on like....the third screen of Chapter 9 where the wall moves left and you have to dash back right a few times, I just can't react quick enough, even if I try to "buffer" it or whatever.
Hey which part? I will help You
@@bait5257 its in the comment
@@bobosmith101 time stamp plz? 😅😅
That screen at 0:30, with the moving block. I have been stuck on it for half an hour now.
the fact i had an easier time with chapter 9 after switching to pc, relearning the controls, completing the c-sides first, and crying says a lot about this chapter
Based Yuze pfp
I dont care, I prefer playing this game with a gamepad
Yeah
On pc
I tend to dash wrong way now and then, but still dont wanna relearn keyboars controls
They're just... confusing
i did the math, they spent somewhere around 1.5 HOURS being dead/respawning, plus or minus .5 hours, not even accounting for the time spent falling/flinging to your death or reacting to having just died.
Farewell alone took me just over 5.5k deaths. I didn't even realize there were B and C side levels so my skills were definitely lacking. Can't even describe how good it felt to beat though and ended up grinding for 100% achievements.
0:30 THIS FUCKING ROOM GOD
I actually found this on my own by just practicing the movement in Oshiro's hotel lol
I just started chapter 9. Thanks for letting me know the hell im about to experience
It took me about 14 hours in a single session to beat it.
I reached the point of pure emotional and physical exhaustion by the time I beat it, but that makes perfect sense.
After all, the most difficult challenge in life is saying Farewell.
I'm a platformer enthusiast. Beat Super Meat Boy several times. First time I played Farewell I finished it with 1900 deaths. The final screen of Farewell made up about 400 of those deaths.
i just finished it and i died nearly 5000 times
AND I SPEEDRAN THE GAME BEFORE IN AN HOUR
ok but sub hour is free
@@jan_is_exist4296 The world record is 26 minutes. Clearly not that free.
@@jan_is_exist4296 not if you’re shit at the game :)
my best is like 1:15 or something
This chapter is an absolute masterpiece. Once you beat it, you just want to play it again and again
2:21 she actually crying for a reason!
0:30, hey that's 8 hours of my life there
What matters is not how long the journey takes you, but how much you grow along the way.
love your comment!
literally me.
Like, you don't understand. This is _literally_ me.
"what it feels like to be a casual player on celeste chapter 9"
Also ohaiguy:doesnt even die a single time on last screen
Nope. That was the successful attempt. I died hundreds of times on that screen!
Halfway through Farewell, and I feel personally attacked and offended
When I first played farewell i was soo unready for such a thing, I was so obsessed with speedrunning, and once when I was watching a 110% tas speedrun (which includes the chapters after the summit that I didn't know) I discovered that after beating core u get this, I was so unready lol, didn't even get a single B side, I hopped onto farewell, and when I got to the hearted door, a used a speedrunning trick to skip it lol, and there where I began to regret lol. Today I got my golden farewell ^^
Holy shit you got the golde strawberry of this chapter?? Congrats! How many attempts did it took you? I kinda want to do it but i feel like it's going to take me way too much time
I stopped, like, a third of the way through when I realized it took me multiple sessions just to get through one single screen. Even after having turned assist mode on. I'd just had it.
No casual player reaches chapter 9
Edit, my biggest platforming accomplishment a month ago was 100% super mario 3D world, now my new accomplishment is 99.9% completing celeste because im not enough of a masochist to get golden strawberries
this feels like a synthesized ptsd attack
0:30 i swear to god that level is totally impossible, I promised myself to not use the assistance mode but that one was the only level in the entire game that made me use it :´v
Im on this part and i think im also gona use it here first time after beating all the b-sides :/
@@fenko309 that's rough buddy
@@fenko309 hey wait
@@fenko309 its super easy if you understand it first.
Speaking from experience
@@fenko309 here's what you gotta do.
First understand wall jump.
What you are doing wrong is that you jump immediately after dash and making yourself touch the spike with that early jump.
First, do a perfect time jump (which you can obviously do) and dash upward and let it over and reach the highest part of that block you can, then only then jump. And keep pressing jump. You will get longer jump.
And you know the rest. It's fairly easy.
Took me over 400 deaths there to realize
For ppls having trouble with this: 1:13
you can also do a variant of that only works in some rooms, HOLD DOWN and right/left then DASH but still holding down and right/left then after a second stop holding down and right/left and press JUMP, you will still have a dash and will still travel the same distance of this one of the video
im not a teacher and i dont speak english very well so i dont really know if that will make sense for you, and i dont really know the name of this dash variation so... thats it.
I take it I was one of the lucky people that learned wavedash and hyperdash early lol. Once you get used to the timing, its as easy as pressing the jump button. You can also climb infinitely as there is a way to simply jump higher up a wall without actually using the climb mechanic. This method can also be used on "unclimbable" surfaces.
Yeah I watched a lot of celeste speed runs before ch 9 so wave dashing wasn't that bad for me. It took me a while to figure out how to wall bounce though.
The bottom right screen in the first sort of montage section gives me flashbacks. And flashforwards, actually, because I have been stuck on that one screen for I think over a year now. I don't play Celeste very often anymore, but whenever I do, I spend like 3 hours on that one specific screen. It's ridiculous.
This chapter took me 16 hours and 5900+ deaths and believe me or not, not even one of those deaths were frustrating because I always felt like it was my fault when I died. I do also plan on getting the golden berry no matter how many times I die.
The third video concerns everybody
The final room of chapter 9 was what broke me and finally made me turn assist mode on.
It was the one at 0:30 for me
to be fair, that room isn't that hard, its just long. the screen at 0:30 made me quit the game for a couple years tho lol
As of watching this video, I am on chapter 2 and playing the b-side made me want to throw my controller into the sun
What in heaven’s name have I gotten myself into
You know, I beat Farewell a few days ago with 16 hearts, and died 3000 times, and finished the chapter after 10 hours et fifteen minutes.
When I look at this video and at the comments sections, I feel like we're all going through pain and I like this
You even got a pretty accurate number of deaths!
I'm 99.99% sure this video was a personal attack, especially after just 0:30
You still beat me by 250 deaths
(5,612, a number that's forever burned into my memory)
Why is this actually so accurate XD
Every stage just brings the same phase into my head:
“I can already see that this is gonna be some Mario maker bullshi-“
Is no one gonna mention Madeleine’s zoom call with Theo at the end? It’s too wholesome!
When a game raises it's difficulty so far that fun is "optimized" out.
the most sadistic part in this game has to be this exact golden berry. having to go through this hellhole without dying once, only to have an extra room, that you are only ever allowed to play with said berry active.
you can debug to it if you really wanted to practice it, but that’s lame imo (I say, as I never plan to get fwg or many other goldens)
@@TheOneWhoHasABadName they're fun thooooo (do what you want tho)
@@_dan1715 at least in modded, there is always an end to the map, regardless of how hard it gets
as I have severe skill issue (with regards to consistency), goldens can potentially end in never, which is a bit more frustrating
(I say that, while I try to play through Monika’s Final Goodbye, with its final room being effectively a golden berry, so maybe I’m not sure if I will beat it lol)
@@TheOneWhoHasABadName lol fair, i get what you mean. gl 9d
@@_dan1715 thanks, just got to chapter 3 of revisit (the difficulty scaling is funny, event horizon and determination analogues feel much more difficult than early revisit, but maybe I’ll cry later)
even though it ate a total of 20 hours already because skill issue, it’s a banger map
The Room you put into the down right corner had me at a certain level of Insanity
0:30 this part literally gave me brain damage
"Yeah so you just dash diagonally into the ground and jump at the same time and you'll get a big burst of momentum and keep your dash, keep practicing until you get it."
Me, who turned on Assist Mode 2 minutes into Core: "Mhm yeah, sure, I'll get right on that."
Me: >Beats chapter 9
>"Sure, I'll try some fan made chapters, I'm practically ready for _anything!_ "
Everest: _"No you ain't."_
Getting all the steam achievements in this game is and might always be my proudest gaming accomplishment
