- Apparently the 432 billion videos out there that have pointless disclaimers isn't enough for many viewers, so here's another statement of the obvious: Any list of "hardest" or "best" or "funniest" or "jaw-droppingest" things is going to be subject to the experiences of the list creator and your opinion is probably not going to align with it. I think you'll be okay, though. We need you to be strong.

Never ask:
A woman, her age
A man, his salary
A Celeste player, their Farewell death count
Should have seen this comment sooner, I asked someone and they turned into Madeline and wavedashed at my feet, I now have no toes.
The farewell death count is equal to the sum of all other levels combined, and I didn't even complete it
mine its 5555
somewhere around 5k
I like how this implies that celeste players are the 3rd gender
- man
- woman

There’s a room with a lot of ice balls and lava balls. That’s one of the most frustrating room for me.
That room and the cowb room are the hardest for me in all Farewell
For me too, it's practically impossible.
@@xxzmaster04xx29 cowb?
@@Burst644 the cowb room is the name the community gave to a particular room in Farewell. Search "Celeste most infamious room" for more info. Also search in the Celeste memes subredit for the "ultimate cowb room." As far as I know, there are only 2 named rooms, this one, and 2k-3, which is a modified version of a modded map. Thats another level of suffering, even for the Celeste community.
@@xxzmaster04xx29 oh yeahhhh that room was hell
2k-3 is THE room of all time

He didn’t include optional rooms, he probably knew about that
Honestly, its a pretty forgiving window
Yeah it’s like 6 pixels
I know I am quite randomly asking but do anyone know of a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Lawrence Ridge Lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
You know number 3 should be at number 1 and you know it. The only reason number 1 is so hard is because of its length. What it asks you to do is relatively easy.
These are pretty much just sorted by how long they took me. I could definitely do number one a lot faster now.
cptnoremac I usually do farewell (the section not the chapter) in one try now unless I’m doing the moon berry lol
@@Nikola_M kay
@@Nikola_M I'm glad you care so much about the sanctity of my lists
Number 3 was easy tbh i did it in like 10 minutes
Number 3 almost made me give up on beating chapter 9.
Luckily someone online explained how to beat it, you need to walljump at the end of your dash to get maximum heigth to go over the spikes.
It's hard but not impossible when you know what to do.
You made it that far into farewell without knowing that mechanic????
@@KillianDefaoiteYeah, I think you don't really need it before that, at least I don't think you need to do it that precisely before this room.
Took me a while to figure out myself. After messing around with walljumping I figured that out myself
@@KillianDefaoite you see the mechanic is only expained in c-sides, and even then its never specified how to control the height of your walldash.
@@notdotuna Not only is it explained in 7B, but you should really complete all the A,B, and C sides before jumping into farewell or else you'll be drastically underprepared
The room where you have to fall a long away down while avoiding the stars and spikes got me stuck for a while lol
If u jump instantly apparently falling down is a lot easier
It is but it’s still a pain
Do a upright dash into the room then extended super asap for a 100% consistent setup
i didnt even know you were supposed to fast fall and did it a very inconsistent way that barely worked
#2 wouldn't have even been on my list, and a few rooms with feathers and a few more with timer blocks probably would. The first wavedash/wallbounce room was also very difficult for me at first.
#2 was really hard for me, as with controller, it’s hard to keep the analog stick pointing diagonally down for a really long time
I’m stuck in this room right now 😭
number 2 was insanely hard for me with a controller. reseting the analogs every time to wavedash was extremely difficult and i had to pause the game many times in "safe" spaces (when falling).
Number 3 almost made me quit the game. I spent a few weeks/months of trying here and there. Must have died a few thousand times just in this room alone. By far the hardest challenge I had in Celeste back in the days.
Yeah i hate that so much i skipped it with assist mode lmao
Dude I got it within my first 200 deaths, it's just timing
@@souwurfe I'll have to try that next time
@@Kyle-ne8hk same i dont get the struggle
I literally looked up this video to see if other people were struggling on it as well. I FINALLY passed it literally a few minutes ago, with an accumulated break with Celeste of over 4 months because of it......
I hate whoever designed room 3 in this video. I've spent over 9 hours and died about 5000 times in just that one room. I still haven't got past it yet
The challenge mainly comes from the lack of proper explanations and practice on wallbounces & hyper/wavedashes in the base game. For anyone frustrated, I recommend downloading the mod Strawberry Jam. me laughing with 5.8k death and 10 hours
Its scary how similar mine is with 1942 deaths and a time of 4h 32m but the big difference is that the last room took me an hour and a half
Well done! Room 1 took me like 3 or 4 hours just because this one thing I was doing wrong with a jellyfish right at the end. I really needed to experiment to see what I was doing wrong, but I had to play perfectly for like 3 minutes just to try again. When I finally got it and made it to the electrical box, I didn't realize there was more to do so I just fell and died after I smashed it and I had to spend an hour getting back there.
Me laughing, only at chp5 w/ 3.5k~ deaths
3 is hands down the hardest room in the game it’s so notorious
second hardest. for me the hardest was first room of 5c lmao
I took a break from the game because of that room omfg
Wasn't that bad
@@idk-nc3pg holy shit that room is so annoying
Just watching this now, and I didn't even realise that number 3 was that hard for most people. Was annoying but easy enough for me, I prefer a short sequence of complex mechanics rather than a longass sequence that you have to die countless times to learn by heart. The very last room for me was by far the hardest and not fun at all, especially since I suck at jellyfish stuff. Took me days of die and retry to get it proper.
3 is very easy if you know that delaying a wall bounce makes it go much higher but the game doesn't teach that and it doesn't make sense in physics because you expect the most speed to be at the beginning of the dash so why would it go higher after bouncing at the end of it. So I was stuck in that room for the most part for that reason. It's really easy if you discover this early or already know about it.
My Farewell run took 3 hours, 2 of those hours were spent only on that room
Celeste is the game that breaks your spirit every time you think you beat it.
* looks at 202 berries *
what fresh new hell wants to fuck it up now?
I remember thinking, "I will get 202 berries no matter how many years it takes, including farewell moonberry!" And then I'm sitting here with 1-4C's goldens, first two chapters' goldens, trying 3A for weeks.... if I keep going, I'm quitting at 5A. And I'm absolutely never going to do a B-side or farewell. Screw that. If there was a golden berry for every 3 rooms, I'd still consider it torture. Not even trying.
@@EaterOfGeeseit only rook me like 600 hours, it's not that hard
I’m getting flash backs off my hands aching trying to beat these rooms
I forgot about how insane all these rooms were. So many hours
The hardest thing in the chapter was to realize the 3h you played the first 10 rooms were just the beginning.

Fuckin Aspids trying to make me feel self concious in a different game
i stopped playing the game for a year, because of this room. if i tried to go to the map, i'd lose all my progress in the farewell chapter. i ended up giving up because this room was such a huge spike in difficulty. but yesterday i tried it again and somehow i managed to get through it in 2 hours. i think i was able to find a consistent way of timing the wavedash so i coudl reach the block and almost always hit the walljump. but yeah, it's terribly frustrating...
i’ve also took a break for half a year because of this room. then i realized that timing is key and just watched the block as it passed the third spike so i could time the wavedash properly. it worked after 2 hours!

Lena Raine is a legend
True story
The hardest screen is that one room with a single cloud in it that you have to dash under. Fun
I can't thank you enough for acknowledging my pain for 2 and 3
#2 is literally like the easiest room at around that point
Not for me
nah bro that room took me so fucking long. I wasn't very consistent at wavebouncing and being asked to do it like 7 times without being too low was not an easy task. The whole chapter took me 8.5 hours, that room took me 1 hour lmao.
that room is easy as hell, i wasnt very consistent at wavedahing but you can just super or ultra 90% of the time
@@estenslop How tf are you doing ultras at that point if you aren't consistent at wavedashing??
@@felixrouxthey probably meant hypers
I honestly didn’t have that Musca trouble with #3, and it surprised me when everyone was talking about it like it was the devil. It was tricky but I don’t think it’s as hard as everyone says
Yeah, i got it after like 20 minutes. Thats nothing compared to other rooms (2 hours)
Number 3 is where I gave up it's literally the worst thing ever invented I disagree
The problem I had with it is I didn’t realise I was meant to bounce off of the wall, I was bouncing off the corner and flying into spikes. I probably had around 100 unnecessary deaths cause I didn’t realise what I was meant to do.
I totally agree I was just a dingus and could have easily have figured it out way sooner, its just that I was holding the jump button instantly after dashing either flying me into the spikes or not boosting me high enough. However when I figured out my mistakes and the TIMING it was easy
@@chrisgarrett6305 my problem too
Number 14 was a nightmare for me! Everything else took me like 10 mins, harder ones about 1 hour. This one took me 3 hours and 47 minutes and 1,6k deaths. I hate that screen so much!!!!
16 is relatively simple, you have plenty of dashes and opportunity to "rest/pause" (hang on the wall)
10 is surprisingly not as hard as it looks. You do it harder. You can throw jellyfish at 3:54 (1.5 seconds earlier than you actually did, and before you bounce off the spring)
1 is hard to learn because it is long but it's very forgiving. Having completed the level only twice, I can successfully complete this room every 5-10 attempts. Unlike 7C-3 ... which is almost pixel-perfect and very unforgiving to even minor mistakes. 7C-3 took around 190 to re-complete...
Most inconsistent rooms for me are 8 and 3
For me #16 went on the list because of how many times I failed it. I kept trying to dash from the pink crystal to the doorbell thingy and over the spikes to the green crystal. I finally figured out you could just go up one wall and still have both dashes, which made it much easier.
On #1 I kept making it to 8:12 and then dying because I was dashing too soon after hitting the fish and missing the next jellyfish. #2 is probably the one that would take me the longest to do a second time.
@@cptnoremac I personally had to "complete" the last screen 3 times on my first play-through:
First time I didn't see the crow/bird and I thought that once I turn off electricity I am safe - fell off screen
Second time I caught the bird, they started to throw me, but once I saw "feather" on the screen, I automatically switched from gamepad-arrows to joystick. Little I knew that in that area I had to go exactly up (which is tricky with joystick) and I shouldn't have switched - bumped into the spikes
#2 seems quite simple. You are not supposed to spend all the dashes (5:51) and then somehow land and immediately wave-dash (no idea how you could pull this off - when I land on the block, it falls so fast I don't have time to wave-dash off it).
It's easier to go full-speed - never stop and wave-dash from the air (without landing on the block first).
Although I am not very consistent with wave-dashing this screen wasn't too hard.
@@nnslife
I know they expected me to wave dash from the air instead of landing, but I just really struggled to make it work. I tried for over an hour and it kept failing. Part of the problem is probably that I use the analog stick for movement because it feels more comfortable for me. Normally that's fine, but this game seems to be programmed to treat any angle less than 40 degrees as 0 degrees. So many times I died because I was holding down and right and it just dashed straight to the right. Landing on that block, then jumping again and wave dashing off of it before it falls off screen is admittedly not much easier.
@@cptnoremac can't imagine playing the game with joystick, although I switch to joystick for the "flying" parts of the game.
It's a bit awkward to switch, but when you catch "feathers" the game gives you just enough time (Celeste doesn't move so I can switch). When on the other hand the feather expires, game gives you no time, and in these specific cases I have to continue to play with joystick until the next safe spot. It always feels quite awkward:)
Gamepad arrows are not perfect either. They are not very consistent. You sometimes dash not in the direction you want. If you look at top players who completed Farewell deathless (there are only two so far), they both play on the keyboard
@@nnslife
What if you pause right at the end of the feather transformation so you can switch back to the D-pad?

Number 3 the timing room.
Our biggest enemy
I can honestly say that many of the rooms were done in ways that were way easier than how I tried them the first time lol but definitely agree with #3 being really high up
chapter 9D : allow me to introduce myself
I agree with your list except for room #2, which really isn't very hard. Love the editing too :)
#2 took me over an hour to do, mainly because of the wave dashing. So many times I swear to God I was very deliberately holding down and right, and it would just go straight right. It's like you have to be exactly 45 degrees. If you're pointed slightly more right than down, no diagonal for you. I tried switching to the D-pad, but I just couldn't get comfortable with it in this game.
Thanks for commenting!
@@cptnoremac Ohhh right. I play on keyboard lol. It's much better in all respects except for feathers.
The number 3 screen is number 1 for me, I died so many more times there than any other screen in the entire chapter. Also, I don’t think the last screen is that bad, the only two things that make it like hardish is the fact that it’s light years long and also nerve-wracking because of it
The length of it is precisely the reason it took me like 3 hours to do
@@cptnoremac Yeah, as I said, the fact that it’s so long makes you extremely nervous and you fuck up on an easy part and gotta go all the way back to the beginning of the screen. I got to it on my second day of playing farewell and I had to give up for the day cuz I was getting too nervous. Thank god I did it on my second try the next day, otherwise this screen would’ve probably been higher on my list
@@volt5481 I determined to beat it all on the night of release, so I was up until 5AM. That was probably a big contributor to me sucking so much at this one, since it was of course at the end of the marathon.
@@cptnoremac yeah, definitely
moon berry: "lmao he has to do last room again and an even harder room"
Moonberry room is significantly easier than the final screen, and there are checkpoints along the way.
#3 was fucking brutal, I haaaaaaaaaaaaated that room. Took me probably 5 hours just on that one room.
there’s one feather room that’s one room after the demo dash room, and i hate that one so much (hate tight feather rooms in general)
glad to see that the hardest room I have seen withc taken me more than 2h to pass is in good place... just saying, I'll have to redo that because I didn't know all the B and C sides that I have to do before chapter 9...
I have to admit that when I finished the game, it broke me both emotionally and physically, with an ending so sad that added to my anxiety to get through that last quarter, god I hate this game and that makes me love it.
I spent longer on 2 than 1 and it makes me very sad that it's the case
thanks. Now i’m hopeless
I know I'm coming a little late (few years...) to the conversation, but room #3 is making me go insane. I got to this point without using any kind of guide but I searched "hardest celeste room" just to reafirm that this is not only my problem but it TRULY is that difficult.
Yeah I was really stuck on it until I realized I was just pressing jump to early and doing a bunch of corner boosts instead of wall bounces lol
The room whit the wind (#8) its one of the few (like 3 or 4) rooms i beated on my first try
The fact that difficulty opinions can be so varied is insane. Your 2 was my easiest room in the map
For whatever reason, I just couldn't get the vital wave dash at the end to work. Probably because I play with an analogue stick, and it seems to just do a sideways dash if you're not holding it at EXACTLY 45 degrees.
Watching that after clearing farewell, just for the sake of saying "YEEAHAHA baby that's hard and i DID IT"
Never let anybody take this feeling away from you
5:32 any advice for this room in particular? I’ve been stuck for literally a week on and off on this one part and haven’t gotten past the first wave dash into wall slide part
Oh, man. I just had to die a lot until I remembered exactly when to do the dash.
Have you completed it?
If you can consistently wall jump into there & grab the box, you’ve won the battle. It’s very precise timing but be patient as a lot people say.
Don't forget to hold jump during the wave dash. Also time the wall jump well. I was doing it too quickly after the vertical dash and I was repeatedly eating spikes.
@@boumbh this is the key, you have to take your time to press jump when the jump wall
I remember that the #1 took me a lot of time and the part where you have to go up (6:53) i was like “OMG I DID IT” but no it just continues...
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who found number 3 to be extremely difficult. I can’t even do it. I used the assist mode options and still couldn’t do it. In the end, I turned on invincibility mode and skipped the room…
Finally completed this after 14 hours and 3500 deaths. The room at 2:44 (#14) was easily my hardest, I easily racked up like 800 deaths and it took me a little over 3 hours to beat it.
It's really interesting to see our different approaches to a lot of rooms, we did many minute things differently (also I didn't know how to do an extended hyperdash, so I could only use a wavedash). My list would've been a lot different, #14 would have been at #1, #2 would probably be around #20, etc.
Yeah, we all have our weird weaknesses. For my #2 took FOREVER because I use an analogue stick and it's really, really bad about not accepting diagonal inputs that aren't exactly 45 degrees so my wave dashes would simply be sideways air dashes and I'd die.
FInally someone that shares my pain, 14# is the bane of my existence, easily 1# for me .
Number tree is the only reason i cant do golden strawberry.
The challenge of #3 mainly stems from the lack of proper explanations and practice on wallbounces & hyper/wavedashes in the base game. For anyone frustrated, I recommend downloading the mod Strawberry Jam. Head to the Intermediate Lobby and grind the Gym and nice specialized levels like Fifth Dimension, Temple of a Thousand Skies, Honeyzip Inc., etc.. Survive these, and you'll definitely own this one!
The moon berry room is harder than all of these and isn't on the list for some reason.
The room in determination that is a just a long fall with moving stars is also harder than all of these and not on the list.
I said excluding optional rooms. I was nearly done with the video by the time I learned of the moon berry.
that long fall room is really only getting the timing of the beginning right. unless you’re taking that slim path, it isn’t really that difficult
@@cptnoremac Long-fall room isn't optional.
@@beri4138 Dunno what room that is
@@cptnoremac Sounds like a memory problem. There is literally no other room that is similar to it.
I love how batshit insane number 16 looks first time you see it, like what even am I supposed to do here 😂
Wavedashing into a wallbounce is unnecessarily hard I swear
I think you forgot about the moonberry path because that is even harder than some of these rooms. Plus it makes you redo the last room (unless you get to the checkpoints on the path)
Read the intro again
The thumbnail said it all for me, no joke i think I have near 800 deaths on that one screen.
I was worried you weren't gonna put #3 on the list for a second 😂 that room was the bane of my existence
I was looking through the video and I kept thinking stuff like “huh that one was quite easy tho” and that made me realise how much I no-life this game
I hate no 18 so much with burning passion cause it took me so long. But then I forgot to save...
Seeing the comment section, I'm surprised to see so many people who took week long breaks because of chapter 9. I beat it in like 2 or 3 days (of course, I spent like 16 hours in the last day alone and died almost 8 thousand times total, but still)
Its fascinating seeing so many people bring up the moon berry room, I dont remember it being that hard.
Number 3 is strangely a number 22 for me lmao
Funny how most of these are from the determination part, wich just shows how much of an hell it was
Gotta love the block synching with the music at 5:16
Yas!
I would put the room where you have to out run the kevin block as number 2 for me. 1 would be the (hyperdash + wallbounce) x 2 room.
It's so interesting to watch now that I'm trying to beat this chapter in under 100 deaths. I almost forgot how tough #2 was for me at that time when I couldn't wavedash consistently.
I still don't know why you put 18 so low, it's the single hardest thing in the entire game for me now with it's slightly different timings for each input and extremely precise timings. It's the only room in the chapter that I really wish wasn't there.
#3 was nightmarish at first, but now I'm like "wavedash when it gets to the third pillar and then you'll get it 3 out of 10 times"
#7 tho, still insane, especially the diagonal dash at the end
I hate one that isn't in this list, the one with the lava block.
Anything involving lava blocks combined with enemies moving in a set timing
That one was probably my 2nd hardest (with the final room being first)
22 can be beaten easier by jumping twice on the fish, then jumping on the platform and immediately off to not get dragged away, fall down to the coin and just as you collect it dash up and to the right, bounce on the fish and dash to the platform
Only in video games would a comment like that be anything but the ramblings of a mad man
@@cptnoremac lol
The one starting the list, number 22, becomes way easier in execution and pretty much just a puzzle if instead of going directly up to the fish from the platform, you jump back to where you started then do a hyperdash or wavedash to get to the fish, with the extra speed making up for the time the detour takes. That way you don't clip nearly so close to the explosion trigger, making it far less precise
Though, that said, the ranking of some of those other rooms and executions thereof does suggest tech-related stuff may be being ranked highly in difficulty, and I guess technically you're not really expected to know how to yet anyways (yes hypers are taught in 8C, but C-sides aren't required to get to Farewell so I'm not counting it)
there are so many things in this video that make me think "you could just do it differently, it would make it much easier!" but i'm not going to list them here because that's not a very nice thing to do. Overall, very nice video, i agree with a lot of the stuff in here
The whole run was done in one sitting on the day it was released, so my brain was mush by the end. I don't doubt I did some really dumb things. Thanks for watching!
@@cptnoremac wow, didn't expect you to respond so quickly. nice video! also respect for beating it in one sitting, that's crazy
I've spent days on n°5 because I couldn't figure out how to go through the end of the crystal section... I haven't finished Farewell for the moment, I know the challenge is huge but it is still amusing me so much !
Don't give up. You're gonna nail it.
Try to hold right button while getting hit by the fish, you can get extra speed, then try to use the two dashes to dash upward until the block arrives.
I find it funny seeing all these comments about how #3 should be higher, and then I reflect on my own Farewell experience:
*gets to the room*
“Oh wait… I’ve seen screenshots of this… the infamous “comb room”, let’s see how much trouble it gives me…”
*5-8 minutes later*
“Oh hey, I beat it. There were like a dozen other rooms before that gave me more trouble than that.”
I think this just video triggered my Farewell PTSD
Never let bro cook again.
0:57 wait am I the only one who went under
Do it too
I did that too! Never knew top route was an option!
Under was so much more intuitive for me, you clear the falling platform immediately instead of having to bump into it and the feather route is clearer too.
#3 almost may me quit the game.
#2 is preatty eassy and #1 is just long.
#2 is NOT easy if you play with an analogue stick
@@cptnoremac well that is right but why i should do that? Every controller has a d-pad.
Ps4 controller has a good d-pad. I usually broke the button from inside to get more precision.
Also the joycons d-pad are excellent to play this game more than you can imagine.
@@cptnoremac but any way it was a good video
@@Adolin.Kholin. I tried the D-pad, but I just couldn't get comfortable with it in this game. Especially the feather parts, which have 360-degree movement.

Ok so you're SAYING that THAT ONE ROOM WITH THE STUPID CORE BALLS AND these VICIOUS coins ISN'T IN THE TOP 22?? Last room is EASY compared to this. The core room made me have multiple panic attacks and led me to self harm. Multiple times. I cried when I finished it.

Number 3 made me angry, but i only died like 250~300 times. I was out of there in 2, probably not even days. 7C prepped me for that ngl
Number 2 was the hardest for me. It took me sooo long
#2 took me 3 minutes. Imma be honest, event horizon and determination are MUCH harder than stubborness and reconciliation, those just feel like the difficulty of the b sides.
Didn't know people hated #3 so much. That room was fucked for me, but Farewell was by far the room I spent the most time in
#3 is like the fourth easiest thing on this list, I didn't know so many people were that bad at this game.
You do know the difference between relative and absolute difficulty, right?
*chuckles in moon berry*
Yeah no. Aside from 5 3 and 1, which def belong in the top hardest rankings, a lot of the ones on here are crazy easy compared to many others
Thank God you're here to set the record straight with the objectively correct answers. We've all been waiting for you.
Im gonna be honest, i don’t really struggle with comb room (#3). Maybe it was because I was already used to wave dashing n wallbouncing cause I knew them from the start of the game, but #1 was way harder for me.
0:57 ok, I guess I made that room astronomically more difficult for myself just cause I was a little dumb. I completely forgot the wave dash was even a thing for that room, and I didn’t go down fast during that vertical section (I still completed it like this tho somehow)
Wait till you see the moon berry room
18 was the first time I ever quit a level because i couldn't do a room
nahh hardest room is the one in the wavedash tutorial where you have to wavedash twice then wallbounce up
There's multiple other levels where you have to more wave dashes and multiple wall jumps than that one. The only reason that level was shard was because it was, for most people, the first time they saw a level like that.
i literally did the wavedash tutorial in 30 seconds, and i didn't even know what wavedashing was
the real mystery is how you did it with screen shake
Wait, so there's 22 rooms that are HARDER than the one I'm stuck on?!
毎面で最終ステージクリアの喜びをくれるチャプター
3,000回以上死んだけど全く苦痛じゃない程の神ゲーだった
for some reason a lot of the solutions here were really different from what i did and seem overcomplicated, also ngl i kinda liked #3
17 you can clip through the spikes so it’s easy
wait till you here about the moonberry
i have an ad blocker 24/7 (except when i am using phone)
Fight the good fight, friend.
the true hardest one is the one with the heart gate because it's the only room that can kill you in inf dash inf stamina invincible assist mode
