One of the best quotes I've heard was related to Billy Kenny: when down on his luck, he tried the classic "Don't you know who I am?" on a shopkeeper. The response was even more classic: "Not only do I know who you are, I know what you could have been".

That's the thing . Mike Walker just kicked him out before giving him a warning or offering some professional help. An old friend, who was an apprentice at Bolton and friends with one of the Everton squad at the time, knew Kenny. Around 1997 he saw him alone in Liverpool driving a minibus. He asked what he was up to and Kenny said he was driving to North Wales for a football match where the team was based. He was team bus driver and player and was quite enthusiastic.

Genius?,what a waste of what?I have heard this a million times over the years and when I was playing with some really good pros/semi pros in the 70s/80s,I went down with a representative Liverpool side to play against the then so called team of the 80s crystal palaces youth team,a good side, but look what happened to their potential a quick cup flash in the pan then gone,Malcolm Allison was overseeing the game and told our team to all swap our usual positions to see what we were made of,we obviously did not impress him as only our goalie was called back the point being that there were a lot of good footballers on the pitch that day but only a few made it,I played a few games with Billys dad he was a good player but like many of us only when he was arsed, the irony of this is I was invited for trials down at Plymouth who's manager at that time was Malcolm Allison, binned it because it was to far back then it was an8/9 hour trip and I remembered travelling down there in the f.a.cup with Everton in 75 it took forever,I thought fuck that,I was recently told by my brother that Carlisle sent two scouts to our house in76/77 only for my dad to fuck them off because he thought they were coppers/c.i.d. Nice one dad.I am sure there are many stories like mine from young lads all over the country bottom line is we couldn't be arsed whereas the lads who made it could, they went that extra yard and good luck to them,Billy just spewed it as the gear was more important at that time.I hope he is well /healthy now and he can always say what most of us evertonians cant ,me and my dad played for the blues,by the way his dad was a lovely fella hope he is well.up the toffeees.l
