Man Utd have only appointed 1 manager in the last 75 years that has actually then won them the title. They maybe shouldn't expect as much success without Fergie as they seem to.
@RANDOMZBOSSMAN1 Ernest Mangnall, Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson, I believe. That being at the start, middle and end of the 20th century. Mangnall was the one who beat the mighty Bristol City in the FA Cup final in 1909.

I think the thing that needs to be highlighted and emphasized more is that the period under Ferguson was the exception, rather than the norm for Manchester United. They've had a total of 3 managers who've won the league. Some guy in 1911, Busby and Ferguson. Thats it. United were the third or fourth most successful club when SAF took over. I truly believe that exceptionally long persiouif success will always weigh more when not successful. Arsenal had the banter era post Wenger, Chelsea went mad post Abramovich, and United seemed utterly lost 12 years after Fergie.
you realise Chelsea were non-existent as a threat for a very long time before Abrahimovich? And Arsenal got most of their PL titles in the 30's - 50's and from the the 90's - 2004. What the norm is for United is that they are the most successful club in England, as well as the largest English club and the second largest club in the world. That's the norm.

I met the man once in a central London pub in 2016. I had no idea who he was, I thought he was just a friendly older bloke who paid for our drinks and wanted to talk football. Anyway, I said I’d buy Nice outright because of their recent success at the time and for total control over decisions. …Fast forward 2 years, and it’s announced that Nice have been bought by Britain’s richest man, with a picture of the guy I had a couple beers with and talked (what I had assumed was) tipsy nonsense to!
The Ineos cycling team can mostly be seen as failure in recruitment (and retention - Carapaz, Adam Yates, Dani Martinez and Dylan Van Baarle), where the recruitment for the 2022 seasons and onwards have been either awful, decent domestiques, or young riders not ready for World Tour level. And since they don't have a development team, they are forced to sign riders such as Michael Leonard, Theodor Storm, Andrew August to the main squad, or risk another team getting them instead. There's also some bad luck involved with Chris Froome and Egan Bernal crashing in 2019 and 2022 respectively, and never regaining their former level. The death of Nicolas Portal (age 40), who was second to David Brailsford in the sporting structure, in 2020 may also play a role. With their scouting being all over the place, and the team not seeming as cohesive as they used to be, they need something new to happen on the sporting front. As for the stadium, had it been in my country, I'd want my government to do as you suggested. The taxpayers should own a percentage of the stadium equivalent to the part that's been paid.
As a FC Porto supporter, yesterdays game was incredible but also irritating. To be able to revert a 0-2 result only to drew in a corner in the last minute, against a 10 man, it was saddening. Porto's defence has been average, despite having 2 15 million euros center backs that have been average and we are missing a leader like Pepe. But fortunately chelsea rejected Samu and he has been great and compensated how bad our defence has been
As a united fan, highly expected you to win 3-2, when Maguire scored I was so numb I didn't even celebrate. That Samu kid you have up front looks lethal. Good luck with the rest of the tournament

I don't think non-United fans know nor care about the actual situation of Manchester United. As long as the Glazers are in charge, the Reds are always going to having two hands tied behind their back. Neither Sir Jim nor Sir Alex could achieve any sort of quick turnaround on the football pitch. You could sack all the managers in the world, but at the end of the day you must still work through a certain process instead of bowing to popular demands.
@@patrickfortune3057 This is a very misleading argument circulating around. The Glazers don't put money in the club, they take it out. The club is able to spend a lot because they have a large fanbase pumping it up, not because of those so-called owners, and the club spends it poorly because, well, of the Glazers' mismanagement.
As an analyst who spends WAY to much time looking at Man Utd, it is the notion that Man Utd is supposed to be a top 4 club every year that is a problem. Any realistic and objective views on Man Utd will tell you that the current squad is overpaid and not good enough to be a top 4 club. Then some casual fans join in, along with rival fans, and before you know it, the whole club is drowning in nonsense negativity. No United director or manager is ever getting enough patience to properly rebuild like during Sir Alex Ferguson's first few seasons or Arteta's first few seasons. And until that doesn't happen we will never really do anything. We might get a good purple patch from new manager bounce like Ole or Ten Hag's first season but nothing is gonna happen unless this constant barage of negativity stops. We have our own so called fans wishing for our team to loose so that they can get the manager sacked, own ex players like Schloes going around talking shit about new recruits like De light, there is no support for them. I do understand the frutration fans feel of "underperforming" but it is because we are not being realistic and then the influencers hype to team up as a "top 4" contender and then bash the team when they do not live up to it. some times it almost feels planned. I will always advocate for lowering expectations for some seasons, do the rebuild and get the old United back. When it comes to Ten Hag, I wish he would stay but will also understand if he gets sacked.
Thanks for this, Alfie. The adulation amongst British media for Ratcliffe always baffled me. And any Man U fans I speak to don't seem to think it matters that his other sports ventures have, at best, stood still.
That's because Man Utd fans are high on copium, so to speak. They NEED Ratcliffe to come good, to escape the misery of the recent decade and the Glazer ownership, so they need to believe that he will turn it around, therefore, in their minds, they ignore all the signs that it might not be so. Seen it a lot online. That's no doubt also why they were praying for the Qatari takeover to go through, ignoring everything else apart from the fact it would finally get rid of the Glazers.
How is the media reporting news about them? I'm not always a big fan of our news reporting, but they detailed how bad everything was going when this brand/people came to do business.
Wonderful, Alfie! But notice: Lausanne and Luzern are not the same city. From what I've gathered in the video Ratcliffe owned Lausanne which is pornounced kinda like lowzanne.

I'm not going to pretend to be a Jim Ratcliffe fan, but the part about the stadium being funded by taxpayers is completely unfair and untrue. He said that the stadium will be completely funded by private money; he wants taxpayer investment to improve infrastructure in the local area around the club, i.e. transport to improve the flow of money into the area. Yes, that would help Manchester United financially, there's no point in denying that, but it would also help a lot of local businesses and residents. He asked for state money to invest in the parts he can't do privately. Personally, I don't like the idea of privately funded roads and tram lines, so I think it's a fair ask from him. Other than that, this is a good video; I learned a lot about his dealings that I didn't know before. Surprised you didn't mention him living in Beverley and attending Beverley Grammar, but I suppose that's immaterial.
Another brilliant analysis: thank you so much and 👍👌👏❤! Apart from Sir (?) Jim Ratcliffe's environmental and financial crimes, it is most irritating that ManU expect the cash strapped public (who have to pay taxes) to fund their new stadium. As they say, "You learn to save money with the rich." As a consequence, I have come to enjoy every time the team loses, buys forgettable players at horrendous fees and keeps paying them £300'000 a week 🤪. Please, please make this club go away or down where they belong 😊.
United have made objectively good signings this summer. The fact they play like they don’t recognise each other every game can’t be blamed on Ratcliffe

I have an issue with the issue with which this was presented. Manchester United is a club that leaks information. A lot. To the point where we were aware that the reason that Alvaro Morata dyed his hair red, was that he was expecting a move before we pivoted to Romelu Lukaku. A lot of the leaks were from many aspects of the club, such as the issues during the Mason Greenwood suspension saga. It was leaked the process of bringing him back well before Richard Arnold made the statements that he did, because the club leaks out a lot of information. As soon as the club were aware (following the Palace game were United were torched 4-0), the club were informed about the possible decision, and it leaked pretty much straightaway. Which is where the news that they were doing a "consultation", where other managers were interviewed. But leaks and Manchester United have gone hand-in-hand for a decade. As has the corruption and the fraud, both of which you have touched upon. Success is certainly not guaranteed, and only a fool should think that. However, I do have to question the specific timing of this, as it seems like a hit piece, even with the legitimate concerns with Jim Ratcliffe's rich white man syndrome symptoms.
Love the channel Alfie. Are you planning to do a video about the ruling in the Lassana Diarra case? It seems like it could be transformative for football and I'd love to hear your thoughts about it
This is damn brilliant When United signed Yoro thwur fans were already talking that they are "loading up" and have "finally a good person at the helm" and "the clubs feels way more structured These claims have changed so fast, expecially for United-ians which immediately turn on the management (but basically on everything all the time as well, then they scapegoat the 100 million euro transfer they do very few years lol)
The fact that Utd's playing staff have been exempt from Ratcliffe's ruthless cost-cutting is fascinating. Especially given the fact that Utd's wage bill is (put kindly) bloated.

Good signing??Lmaooo Zirkee is average striker in Italy can't even finsih better than Holjund.Ugarte is another Casemiro who can only tackle.Materozi??it's okay. De Ligt?the guy that got bench by Dier and injury prone lmaooo.Yoro?Huge amount of money for 18 yrs old lmaooo.
@@Ricky07753you see this is the problem with you Man Utd fans. You seem to think every player you sign is useless when majority of there cv’s with other teams are flawless. Casemiro and Varane joined after winning the champions league, Zirkzee had a decent season at a great tactically balanced Bologna, De ligt from a decent Bayern side on a downfall and yoro who got injured after one game. Can’t you physically see that it’s the manager to blame? If you can’t then don’t watch football mate.🫡
Ineos in cycling is in a very bad place right now, not a 'crisis' per say but in football terms they went from Champions League Real Madrid form to Premier League Chelsea nowadays
You mean, massive spending, incoherent strategy and disappointing results? Hmmm...💯
@@matthewlewis2072 yes, that is what I meant😅
Yup they went from being the most feared team in Grand Tours and especially the TDF to also rans for the Grand tours now
Even teams like Quick-step who historically wasn’t a Grand tours team have better GT riders now their best rider Carlos Rodriguez is a second tier GT rider at best and has the most wins for the team this year at a paltry 3
@@RANDOMZBOSSMAN1 Everything has been going wrong for them honestly, Carlos Rodriguez was pretty good last year but this year there are no GT stages won (except for Ganna in the Giro iirc) and not any monument
@@JPL454 and Ganna didn’t even win the Olympic/Worlds ITT this year vs Remco
Lausanne Sport is the closest “big” Swiss club to the Ineos HQ (Rolle, Vaud).
Alfie is the best
Don't even need to watch this. As a Utd fan I was horrified by our two prospective owners. An anonymous benefactor from Quatar, the state built on oil and fuck all else, or a petrochemical billionaire who thought Brexit was great, then fucked off to Monaco. Clowns upon clowns upon morons upon clowns
But at least the dude from Qatar wouldn't be asking for tax payers help with the infrastructure and would have wiped out the club's debt & started anew with a fresh start
What's wrong with the government funding infrastructure projects that would create jobs in an area that could really benefit from them ?
@@phoenix3872governments are meant to put money into infrastructure. wtf do you think taxes are for?
Was it Lausanne or Luzern he owned? I think it's Lausanne, but it sounds like you're saying Luzern. Which is like the Gent/Genk thing. In fact, they're playing each other tomorrow.
Lausanne, he just pronounced it wrong
Yeah, I was confused as to which one he was mispronouncing (Lausanne is "Lozan" and Luzern is "Lootzern") before i saw the team logo
It s FC Lausanne-Sport. The Ineos hq Switzerland is in Rolle which is between Lausanne and Geneva...
This is probably one of your best videos, never had my opinion on someone change so much.
Ineos Grenadiers (the cycling team) have consummately failed to build on the Team Sky legacy, keeping hold of ageing riders whilst bringing in a succession of poor younger signings.
😂😂😂😂
So, pretty much Man United. We are cooked 😭
Thank you for today’s gift, Alfred
Rare Alfie mistake. Man U are in the Europa League, not the conference league.... Carry on. 🤓
Soon they will wish they were in the conference league
United will be lucky to get Conference League this season at this rate
Lol they're not even conference league standard. They snuck in the Europa League and absolutely don't deserve it.
They don’t deserve to be in the Europa league
Boy, I sure hope somebody got fired for THAT blunder
Sir Jim Pratcliffe
Ineos are dismantling the club stone by stone
From Matt Busby & Duncan Edwards, class acts - to the Glazers and SJR, roots con dinero
23:19 for the fundamental part of this video 😂
An especially miserable predicament? Au contraire Alfie, it is a chef's kiss of a predicament and I, for one, am enjoying every single second of it!
wake up babe, Alfie has posted again
Such a weird embarrassing comment!
Love the channel Alfie. Are you planning to do a video about the ruling in the Lassana Diarra case? It seems like it could be transformative for football and I'd love to hear your thoughts about it
Hated Man UTD since I was a lad, but right now it's ABC, anyone but city. It's so boring now...
I am sorry for the child abuse we dished out...
Totally agree. It's just too boring if one team is basically always winning
It's a credit to Alfie on how entertaining this is consistently with minimal imagery(no need).
Well done Alfie. Always said Ratcliffe is a clown.
Watching from Namibia, scratching my head about this mysterious academy.
This is damn brilliant
When United signed Yoro thwur fans were already talking that they are "loading up" and have "finally a good person at the helm" and "the clubs feels way more structured
These claims have changed so fast, expecially for United-ians which immediately turn on the management (but basically on everything all the time as well, then they scapegoat the 100 million euro transfer they do very few years lol)
This is now the third highest search result for "Jim Ratcliffe" on RUclips
The fact that Utd's playing staff have been exempt from Ratcliffe's ruthless cost-cutting is fascinating.
Especially given the fact that Utd's wage bill is (put kindly) bloated.
I think contracts prevent that m8
@@jasonchavez4302 true. There are obviously ways of avoiding the full hit but maybe none worked out.
Maybe this summer!
You have to love HITCs edgy intellect: Petrochemicals = Bad. Stunning, brave and sooo smart!
Don't you think this typifies ALL wrong with football 😢
I’m glad you highlighted his failure with ineos grenadiers. Ever since egan bernals crash the team has failed to find basically any success what so ever. Relying on a 400 year old geraint Thomas to try and win the giro (albeit he placed second back to back behind two Slovenian aliens and did well for himself) highlights the shambolic state of the team. I tried telling friends of mine who are United fans that if he runs united any way like he ran his cycling team they are fucked for the foreseeable future.
Not just team sky, Mercedes F1 team, the americas cup team even New Zealand in rugby form has all downturned when Jim the Rat is involved
I remember when Team sky was the feared team for Grand tours and the Sky Train was a thing, now UAE/Visma LAB domestiques would put all their riders in the red at GTs with ease
@@RANDOMZBOSSMAN1 yea they basically dominated for nearly a decade. Multiple grand tour winners in their ranks only rly having to compete contador. Hell the only success Ineos has rly had was Egan winning the tour and tao winning the giro even then they were basically sky riders still 😭
Why you making a 'We Need To Talk About' video about Man United... we are a world class club and we will win The EFL Championship next season 😅
I honestly thought that by the end of last season United were showing real progress. They richly deserved their FA Cup win.
Absolutely delighted that I was wrong!
Your videos are always full of creativity and style. Thank you for your skill!⭐️🐄🦐
Fake comment bots? 🍭👻☃️
OGC Nice have also had a fair share of "issues", the biggest being Galtier accused of racism towards his own players, all under INEOS.
some united fans in the comments truly missing the point of the video, the title of the video isn't "jim ratcliffe is ruining manchester united". if you watch this video and what you take away is the need to defend jim ratcliffe in any capacity i worry about your mental state
Just WOW!! I'd love to know how much work you put in to researching your videos. Well done, HONESTLY, on saying what everyone else is thinking. Just to be clear......you are a genius and love watching everything you put out 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Without Sir Alex and the influence he had on refereeing decisions they would be a mid table team. Now that’s almost a reality.
Lmao what a cope
Tbh,you went easy on him calling him a clown. I can think of a far more apt C-word for him
United are in the Europa League 2:19
Not for long.
