Austen Alexander Man I wish I could pass the ASVAB but I’m not book smart I’m more of a learner hands on, but your videos are inspirational and definitely been helping me to better myself and see my future can be brighter than I see it to be now. I just wanted to thank you for helping me realize my potential. Thank you for your service.
I’m looking to actually join the navy after my contract is up with the National Guard in September. I’m rehabilitating my ACL right now also but after watching your videos all afternoon I’m feeling like I’m making a great decision. Thanks for putting your story out there bro 🤘🏼
When I was 7, a girl told me I looked ugly with out bangs. All the way through school, during P.E I’d run and cover my forehead with my hand the entire time! It’s crazy how much stupid comments can get to us. By the way, I don’t think you have big ears. The stuff that gets in our heads is crazy!
You are incredibly handsome. A lot of times I always see the most beautiful people get bullied by people who are ugly both on the inside and the outside. Glad you have confidence now. A lot of men and women need to take a leaf out of your page
Austen Alexander That is awesome that you were able to tell your story. I know a lot of people and some of my friends even have committed or tried to commit suicide because of commits like that. Be you. You are great
Can you believe this guy used to be a nerd?? I'm so proud. I would've never guessed! Don't underestimate nerds.. they have the most discipline. Thanks for sharing Austen.
I graduated bootcamp Sep. 21. I already see a difference in the way I think. The old problems I had don’t exist anymore. I hope the navy treats me as well as it has done for you!
Old Marine here, any branch of the service will treat you with respect and dignity if you show them respect and dignity. The ball is in your court. GOOD LUCK I WISH YOU WELL !!!
Austen, I'm actually in the process of joining the navy and this is actually the message I needed to hear. For a while I've been actually the same as you were before you joined. No confidence, hardly any direction, and felt I didn't know my purpose but, I know the navy will help me to obtain those things and more! I'm so glad you put this video out it has motivated me and inspired me to continue to work towards this goal of becoming a United States Sailor! Thanks man and God bless!
I’m hoping to go when I finish high school but my parents wouldn’t like me to or my friends they want me to go to college and get a life 😂 also they would hate me to get injured in any way like I already have been before. Thank you for your service I should’ve said that earlier and hope that you had a good time in boot camp if you finished.
Nicole Skorupsky There are some good reddit posts of young veterans who recently discharged and how it has affected their lives. Definitely worth a read to get both perspectives first hand
Ezio Auditore Thank you for that even though if I wanted first hand advice I would just ask my father because he served in the army not in this country but in another one.
I got burned pretty bad when I was 8 years old and got teased mercilessly in school for years, I always wore long sleeves and long pants to cover the scars. After awhile I pretty much said "F" it and decided that I wasn't going to let an accident limit my life and I took on the world as I knew it and became a stronger mentally and physically as a person. It changed my attitude towards the weaker less liked kids in school as well, I wouldn't stand by and let others pick on them or tease them or shove them around (you get the picture) I lost a few so called "friends" over it but what the hell good were they if they thought friendship was based on just being a dick to kids! To this day I don't tolerate people that go out of their way to harm another and have never looked back at what happened in 1972 as a sad time but rather the moment I started on the path towards who I am today. Thanks for sharing your story, I don't generally say much about my accident unless someone asks about it but since it relates to your topic today and I'm with 110% that you cannot let anyone or anything define you as a person, I only know of one perfect person in the world and HE went through a lot more than I ever will! Still regret not joining the Navy in 82 though! LOL
I'm glad you shared this as well. This is a great story and I agree with you completely. In 82' I think the Navy was still allowing people to spit on you and kick you during the Equator ceremonies haha kinda wish I would've experienced that back then
You're so beautiful now and looking at your old pics looks like you've ALWAYS been quite beautiful!!!! I think those people were probably quite *jealous* of you!
Great motivation. At 39, I’m trying to find that confidence still. Even being through the Marine Corps and starting a grad program this year, just can’t seem to pin it down. Thanks though. Love your videos. Motivation all around. Going to try to do a Murph.
You have no idea how this video touches people like me. I was beat down my whole life by an individual who instilled in me that I was worthless. In fact I'm in tears because I had this very conversation with my youngest stepson this morning who is also a victim of a bullying his entire young life. Your words echoed almost everything that I said to him and I'm gonna pass your story on to him. Thank you for sharing...you have no idea how much this is affected us... God-bless!
Great video man! I can relate to this video to a certain level. I was 17 years old, 5'5, 118 lbs when I joined the Army in 1987. Although I was kind of a decent runner, I did not have athletic skills regarding team related sports, baseball, basketball etc, and kind of a "regular joe" regarding my looks. Joining the Army boosted my self confidence very much, became a happier person, developed a thicker skin (got no choice in the Army) and became a "go-getter" immediately. That helped me achieve every single goal and objective i had in life. Right now I'm a retired MAJ (O-4) who works for a very unpopular 3-letter-government agency, but I feel great and complete. God is great!
Sir, I am from the Philippines and seeing how you you changed so much from a person of low self confidence to becoming an active part of a national force, it's so inspiring. Your workout videos inspire me to be much healthier, even though school is very stressful. Lots of love, thank you!
Self transformation is such a powerful thing. It’s wonderful you are sharing it. The moment we realise that all the gifts we need are hidden within us is the day we can start to become the people we want to be. Powerful stuff.
Thank you for sharing your story. I was not expecting you to say that was the reason you kept your hair long. It makes me think how many times have I let others comments affect the way I live my life and feel about myself. It is cool to hear how being apart of the military can shape you as a person. Thank you for your service!
I’m going through the same thing right now. Low self confidence. I’m lost and don’t know what I really want to do with life. I just flunked out of college and looking to move on. I’m currently trying to lose the 1 inch of belly fat I need to get into the Navy, I’m just really worried about not passing basic training because I’m completely out of shape but I’m out here working. Thank you for telling your story it’s really motivating .🙂

Thanks for sharing ur story. The military changed my life as well. I would have been dead or in jail. It saved my life. There was pros and cons during those years but looking back i think is well worth it.
I’ve watched a few of your videos and started watching because I’m an AirForce Veteran. The “one” thing that’s a constant in what I see in you is that you should go into acting. You look like the next “Rock”. Austen YOU have what it takes. Think about putting together a short 20 min mini movie that’s becoming popular on YT.
Kudos for the confidence to post this and my big ear story is nearly identical to yours. I did have big ears in elementary school but as you get older it all works out. We are winners today and most of the people that picked on me because of my ears its funny how life turns out they are losers today.

I'll be doing my aptitude test in a few weeks. I'm stoked for my new life in the military. It's going to help me grow in all of the areas in life I want to grow in. The "short short " comment you made, in my head I legitimately didnt think anything of them. You are absolutely right ! If you enjoy wearing something wear it!
Bro, the long hair over the ears so resonated with me. I grew hair over my ears for the exact same reasons. No self confidence, being teased by peers, etc. I found that I stopped being teased about my ears but I got ragged twice as much for having a big head, lol. The extra hair made my head look huge! Army BT and later, police academy training helped me learn to stand tall in the same way. I learned a valuable life lesson that I still live by today: You gotta love yourself first. Great videos, partner. Thanks for your service.
Great video man!! Throwing down the good vibes and a great uplifting spirit!! Thanks for sharing your story brother man. I believe we have all been through struggles in life and hard times. Overcoming them is what makes us stronger as a whole and helps us become a better person/character from it all. You make me want to strive for more positive energy and motivation and confidence in myself watching you personify and talk about it.
I know this video is years old, but i definitely needed to hear this. I’m processing for the Navy myself at 24, and this right here was insightful. Thanks for sharing brodie 🙏🏾
Hey Austen alexander just wanted to tell u thank u for your videos my wife.is in the military thank u for your work outs cuz of u in one year I lost my mom I live in a shelter your videos Motivated me I went from 158 to now 135 in a year thank u for all that u do n for serving my country
This is the exact video I needed to hear. Thank you for all that you do. I’ve really been going through it lately, and your videos have been a great escape. Can’t wait to see more !
Man, i don’t even like to talk about the way I felt in high school. A certain group made me feel worthless every day (literally held me down a few times and bullied me) I didn’t feel an ounce of confidence until I joined the army and found confidence in my looks and body. But like, whose approval was I even seeking back then? I will never let my mind be that easily influenced again.
You are my biggest motivation for joining the navy even bigger than Jocko Wilkinson and what the military has done to you drives me every day. Keep putting out good content and thank you for the motivation and information.
Awesome story, awesome transformation, sailor! Crazy how vulnerable our emotions can be in our developmental years. The insecurities within bullies often fuel the hurtful comments targeted on others. Also, it's interesting how we attempt to mask these unwanted body images. As you combed your hair over your ears, your attackers combed theirs over their hearts. Keep wearing those shorts, brother! A mentor of mine used to always say, "It is none of my business what people think or say about me."
"Always have a sense of self-confidence. You should always take care of yourself." words to live by. This is honestly one of the reasons that I watch your channel. You try to help people get on a good and healthy track thats best for them. I have absolutely nothing to do with the military and I live in germany, yet I enjoy watching your videos a ton! Your channel's super interesting and I wanna thank you for your service and puttin out the great videos that you do. Keep at it! -Lots of Love-
You are a really good looking😎, tough and kind man. They lied about your ears being big, they are normal bro. Those guys who said that are probably living on the streets right now.
If you would have said your ears were picked on in high school, I don’t think I would have believed you. Your ears are the most normal looking ears I’ve seen 😂
As a Canadian watching your videos, I'm not sure what brought me to your page, but I'm glad I found it. You've inspired me to find a sense of structure and purpose in my life. I am very much thinking about joining the military, and I'm aware that the Canadian military is different than the US military, but I will still be proud to be a part of it. Maybe even one day I'll be able to be a part of your military. Thank you for being a positive role model to those of us who watch your videos.
Wow! I have been watching your videos on and off for the past several weeks. This is by far one of the most inspirational videos that I have ever seen. I am sure your message has touched thousands! Keep it up brother!
I know I'm late to the party but I just wanted to comment and say how much I love your channel. I'm a pretty small girl and I've been underweight my whole life (genetics not an eating disorder) and I've always cared about others' opinions of me. Just recently I have been putting my focus on myself and my life and I am so much happier. I've always wanted to join the military but quickly dismissed it because of how small I am. Now that I have confidence I know I'll gain the weight and gain muscle too. I have more motivation than ever to be a part of the military! Specifically Navy! The only other time I've felt so compelled about a job is the one I have now so I know that the choice I make when I join the navy will be the right one. I know people still doubt me because of my size but I'll prove them wrong and make myself proud.😊 thanks for your amazing videos😊
Hey Austen, it’s cool to see you doing this RUclips gig. I enlisted in the Army a few years ago, and around that time there weren’t really any major Sailor RUclipsr’s. Great to see you spreading that life to people.
Heading off to Benning in February. I’ve been performing on stage since I was nine, stopped a couple years ago (americorps and a new family). Never thought I’d be joining the military. Seeing transformations like yours does motivate very well.
Great video I’m 17 and I really lack confidence, and motivation I’ve been thinking about the idea of joining some branch of the military I think it would be a good idea for someone like me
Go marines! Go hard or go home! I got MEPS Monday, today is Saturday. I’m kind of nervous but I’m ready to leave my old life behind and start this new journey I’m about to partake.
I'm 25 and I have been working as IT Techncian for a least 4-5 years. I still enjoy it but i feel like i'm missing something in my life. I want to be the best version of myself and i think that the military will give me what i always wanted. After watching your video, it gives me hope for the future. Thank you very much
My son will be leaving this summer for Navy boot camp and then with be attending Nuclear Propulsion school. I am excited to see what becomes of him. Thanks for sharing your story.
I was a.military barber for almost 20 years. I observed a lot of the recruits going through bmt. Its not for everyone but for those who did it, it does change a person inside and out. In todays world of srlf entitled spoiled brats its good to see people willing to do the work to make something of themselves. Thank you for your service
The things you say are the things that I say to myself hearing it from a military soldier boosted it. It makes me feel like I would make a good soldier but everyone’s gotta remember the military isn’t for everyone thanks.
Austen Alexander I think I’ll have to comment this under all of your videos. It’s the only way I can feel comfortable watching your videos knowing I’ll most likely be attending West Point next year.
What an awesome video. I just found out that my husband will be selecting his rate and joining the Navy tomorrow. So he will be in DEP. I’m so happy to watch this video. I cannot wait to see his transformation. I’m hoping some of his training wears off on me ;) Thank you for these videos. They’ve really been helping me. Also I definitely don’t think you have big ears. It’s sad what others put on us.
Great message but that is life. It doesnt necessary have to tie in to the military. I only wish that whatever it may be the path that young people have, I only wish they follow their dreams and odnt let anyone else bring them down. My nephew is 6, I spent all day today with him. I love him with all my heart and hope he can just grow up to be a confident, happy, smart and kind man.
Be yourself! It’s your life. What I have learned is to do things for me and do what i want to do and not care what others say. Happy for you! Congrats on the transition to a Happier, More Confident person! I’m going to Basic on Jan 7, 2020. Looking for to a great experience/transformation!
Hi Austin. I' from Serbia. I start to watch your yt.chanel one month ago. I like your content on yt. Keep going because you are so motivating. Best regards from Novi Sad, Serbia.

Excited to hear this! Thanks for the support
I leave for boot camp on January 23 2020 for Master at arms and your videos relieve my stress for bootcamp and I really appreciate you!
Ever thought of doing a video with Matt Ward? I would be interesting to see US Navy vs US Army comparation /contrast. Thanks for your fine work!
Austen being wholesome and adorable as usual
Man, i don’t even like to talk about the way I felt in high school. A certain group made me feel worthless every day (literally held me down a few times and bullied me)
I didn’t feel an ounce of confidence until I joined the army and found confidence in my looks and body. But like, whose approval was I even seeking back then? I will never let my mind be that easily influenced again.
You are my biggest motivation for joining the navy even bigger than Jocko Wilkinson and what the military has done to you drives me every day. Keep putting out good content and thank you for the motivation and information.
Still looking for that jtsuits comment
Awesome story, awesome transformation, sailor! Crazy how vulnerable our emotions can be in our developmental years. The insecurities within bullies often fuel the hurtful comments targeted on others. Also, it's interesting how we attempt to mask these unwanted body images. As you combed your hair over your ears, your attackers combed theirs over their hearts. Keep wearing those shorts, brother! A mentor of mine used to always say, "It is none of my business what people think or say about me."
4:29 any one else realize both their names combined is Austin Alexander 😶😂 😯
You look amazing, happy you got over that and didn’t let nothing get you down. Confidence is the key. Blessings Austen🥰
The thing with the hair. It's true, when I cut my hair it was like I was a different person. This helped with my confidence.
Keep at it! -Lots of Love-
Very proud of you man inshallah (God willing) only success for you bro 🙏
Shukran! (hopefully I said that correctly) thanks my guy!
I will tell you as we get older we get life and ur beautiful no matter who u are. Life is beautiful like you
You are a really good looking😎, tough and kind man. They lied about your ears being big, they are normal bro. Those guys who said that are probably living on the streets right now.
It’s nice to see you reminisce on yourself, shows how much you’ve grown
If you would have said your ears were picked on in high school, I don’t think I would have believed you. Your ears are the most normal looking ears I’ve seen 😂
As a Canadian watching your videos, I'm not sure what brought me to your page, but I'm glad I found it. You've inspired me to find a sense of structure and purpose in my life. I am very much thinking about joining the military, and I'm aware that the Canadian military is different than the US military, but I will still be proud to be a part of it. Maybe even one day I'll be able to be a part of your military. Thank you for being a positive role model to those of us who watch your videos.
1:47 this man looks like he's about to tell her he doesn't care that she broke her elbow
Venomfall A man of culture I see
Hey great job posting our videos they are amazing keep up all the good work and have fun brother God Bless
Great vid as usual!
thanks 😀
Love your attitude. I've never even served in the military, but admire people with positive approaches to life! Keep it up!
i appreciate it Jeremy!
lmao your ears aren't even big their normal size
They’re
Wow! I have been watching your videos on and off for the past several weeks. This is by far one of the most inspirational videos that I have ever seen. I am sure your message has touched thousands! Keep it up brother!
Hey Evan I appreciate it alot!! Thanks for the support
I'm going into the Navy. I just waiting until June 3rd to get my meps date and swear in. I qualified for Master at Arms. Can't wait!!!
Bruh in the picture where he barely cut his hair I swear I thought it was the dude next to him was him cuz his ears
Hey Austen, it’s cool to see you doing this RUclips gig. I enlisted in the Army a few years ago, and around that time there weren’t really any major Sailor RUclipsr’s. Great to see you spreading that life to people.
Thanks David!
Motivational
thank you
Dude short shorts are the best. Very inspiring, man!
true story!! haha thanks Joey
Dangggg that glo up tho
😂😂 dat glo up thooooooo
Heading off to Benning in February. I’ve been performing on stage since I was nine, stopped a couple years ago (americorps and a new family). Never thought I’d be joining the military. Seeing transformations like yours does motivate very well.
He does have some hella nice ears, damn
Thanks to your videos I've become more confident in my joining the navy. I'm so excited to enlist. Thank you Austin Alexander!
Yeah dude you look like a total badass with short hair🤘🇺🇲🔱🏴☠️

Great video I’m 17 and I really lack confidence, and motivation I’ve been thinking about the idea of joining some branch of the military I think it would be a good idea for someone like me
Yea man but first always consider your options. Good luck to you in the near future
_ jake124 dont do it bro trust me
Go marines! Go hard or go home! I got MEPS Monday, today is Saturday. I’m kind of nervous but I’m ready to leave my old life behind and start this new journey I’m about to partake.
you should train yourself before you join marines..
Don’t fucking do it cuzzo
I'm 25 and I have been working as IT Techncian for a least 4-5 years. I still enjoy it but i feel like i'm missing something in my life. I want to be the best version of myself and i think that the military will give me what i always wanted. After watching your video, it gives me hope for the future. Thank you very much
There are IT jobs in the Navy although it probably won’t pay as much. The travel is worth a lot!
You look like young Jean-Claude van Damme.
Perfect observation! Ochin kharasho 👍
My son will be leaving this summer for Navy boot camp and then with be attending Nuclear Propulsion school. I am excited to see what becomes of him. Thanks for sharing your story.
Looking like B.J Blazkowicz in real life (Wolfenstein)
AJAJINGLE 31 exactly my thoughts!
I was a.military barber for almost 20 years. I observed a lot of the recruits going through bmt. Its not for everyone but for those who did it, it does change a person inside and out. In todays world of srlf entitled spoiled brats its good to see people willing to do the work to make something of themselves. Thank you for your service
Austin, your ears are beautiful.
The things you say are the things that I say to myself hearing it from a military soldier boosted it. It makes me feel like I would make a good soldier but everyone’s gotta remember the military isn’t for everyone thanks.
Go Army! Beat Navy!
*blocked*
nah jk fam
Austen Alexander I think I’ll have to comment this under all of your videos. It’s the only way I can feel comfortable watching your videos knowing I’ll most likely be attending West Point next year.
Hooah!!!
Navy..never again volunteer yourself. Army..ain't ready to be marines yet. Marines...my ass rides in Navy equipment sir.
You look like you should be a fighter pilot, because of you hair right now. Lol😂
pssh I wish I was haha I did work with like 25 fighter pilots in Lemoore, CA
Austen Alexander Same, that is my dream job and thank you for your service
thanks for the support!
4:28 brothers in ears
One of the best glow ups 🥺👏🏼 mentally and physically , i wish to one point reach a point of self confidence
Really?!?!?! No one noticed he looks like Elon musk

I think we all had that hair in high school. We called it “Bama Bangs” or the bama swoop lol. Roll tide
I live in Bama now, but went to school in Pearl, MS and we called it the Pearl Swirl 😂
Every young man should hear your story!
The navy had the coolest uniform in my opinion lol now the blues are gone:( 😭
Trent T what do they have now just the greens?
@@daniel-ss1rk yup
Amazing video! Now I kinda understand more about the video “everyone needs to know this” you posted 2 years ago. Those your old close friends just couldn’t take it how much you have changed. Amazing what you have been through. Thank you for sharing with us.
