    Hey Austen, just wanted to let you know that you played a part in making my decision to join the NAVY! I just swore in this past Friday at MEPS. Also, I'm part Chamorro (Indigenous people on Guam). My mother told me stories as a kid about how beautiful Two Lover's Point is. Not sure if you were told about the Legend of Two Lover's Point, but it's about forbidden love between two people who tied their hair together and jumped off the cliff. Just a legend, they say, but I'm stoked that you enjoyed your stay there. I haven't been, but I hope that we end up there and I get to experience what you have.

    I’m glad I found your channel when I did! I’m currently a junior in high school and have been stuck between Air Force and Navy. When I found your channel it helped me to determine that Navy would be my choice! I’m still debating on whether I want to be a nurse and go through the officer route or if I want to just enlist and be a corpsman. But thank you for your consistency & for actually taking the time to answer questions thoroughly.

      Don’t forget about the Coast Guard. But if you really want to go into medicine I’d become an RN first, then be an officer, but probably in the Air Force rather than the navy. The Air Force has the nicest bases and the best living conditions.

    I was in the navy forty years ago as a QM2/SS then was also an AB in the merchant marine for eight years. I enjoyed your video which reminded me of how hysterically funny sailors are. I was going to get an anchor tattoo in Newport, Rhode Island one time when I was getting drunk with an officer buddy of mine, since I was an OCS dropout but decided to not get tattooed because I wanted to save my money for drinking! Even then, in 1980 a simple tattoo was $75 which back then bought a lot of drinks since a draft beer was maybe fifty cents. If I had to do the navy again I’d just be a cook. Being the cook on a merchant ship is the best job on the ship and then when you make chief steward in the merchant marine you’re the supply officer but you still have to cook eggs to order for breakfast. I would also like to point out that yeoman is a good rate for anyone who already knows how to type. I was totally allergic to rates that wanted five or six years active duty though such as nuclear machinist mate, electronics technician, air traffic controller, or CTI language interpreter.

    Great video. I’m hoping to join the navy soon and I was wondering if you could make a more in-depth video of all the different things you can do/ specialize in as an MA. Like what schools/ specialized training programs are available after A school? For example I’ve heard about the navy swat team (srt) but can’t find any info on what someone would have to do to join them and it sounds like something I’d really like to do. Really hope you can shed some more light on the MA rate because that’s the rate I’d like to sign up with. Hope to hear back from you soon.

I'm just interested in know maybe you could make a video about it. I've people say well you have to get 8 hours of sleep to build muscle and recover... I've also heard things like if you're not eating every three hours then your not efficiently losing fat. My job is pretty long in hours and I struggle in time management as well. Jakob Flanagan you get to pick orders depending on your place in your class, but most of the time it’s gate duty

      Austen, great channel. Sounds like haven't had any shipboard time yet. I did almost 4 years aboard USS Saratoa CV-60. Too much time at sea. Do you think sea duty might change your perspective of the Navy? Shore duty is like being a sand crab.

    What All can you do as an MA I’m very highly considering signing for it in 2 days and I’d like to know more before I make that big decision, I don’t wanna be an Id checker.

      And when I say what can you do I’m asking about c schools and specializations

    • @AustenAlexander
      @AustenAlexander  6 лет назад +2

      you can do Harbor Patrol, Base Security, Personnel Protection Detail, Coastal Rivron Squadron, Coastal Rivron Group, Brig Duty, Shipboard Security, Squadron Security. But the reality of it is, you will probably have to scan IDs at least for a few months at your first duty station. Just depends on how hard you're willing to work to get out of it. Hope this helped!

      Austen Alexander it definitely did, if you could make a video describing all of these or figure out a way to include it another video that’d be really cool for all the confused wanna-be MAs like me. You’ve got a great channel going and I’m sure you’ll reach 10k by December.

    Those recruiters can be really pushy especially when theyre working inside of high schools! We had to tell our 4 boys "dont even talk to those people"
