WOW a lot of work. I'm glad you shared this process. I'm still considering if it's worth the effort though. thanks again.
You are welcome. For some reason, this model is very easy to get clogged. I am going to shoot another video using less intrusive methods.
Beautiful work, but this video has just told me that I need to get a new printer.
Knowing my technical skills, there is zero chance I will pull that all off!!
Thank you very much for the video. After years of faithful service with refillable tanks and no blockages that couldn't be cleared with the normal head clean (and many thousands of pages printed), the yellow printhead clogged so bad nothing at all would come out in the nozzle check. Dismantled the printer as per your video (and I doubt that I would have attempted this dismantle without your video) and have been using all the suggested cleaning techniques except the steam which I don't have, including soaking just the head in Windex for 24 hours. Every colour is quite clear but yellow is still fully blocked. I'm about to give up and buy a new one because as many people have said with the cost of a new printer its not worth the two days I have already wasted on this. I'll soak it another 24 hours and if that doesn't clear it then its off the rubbish pile for this printer.
So...as it states - do not try this at home! The instructions are clear enough, and with some patience you could potentially clear your print head. I reckon the chances of it going back together without something snapping or breaking would be fairly minimal, but maybe worth a shot.
But I think some further cautions wouldn’t go astray in the video.
I was trying to fix a wf4630 (slightly different) and for whatever reason when I started unscrewing the print head as instructed ink started leaking out everywhere. Luckily I had placed down old newspaper otherwise bench would have been stained bad. I persevered a little longer before realising it was a lost cause and yeeting it into the bin.
Heading to the shop to get a new printer now.
Yeah, that's a bad idea to remove those 2 screws up front. The head can be removed with paint hoses still attached. And then you can unplug those hoses. I ruined my printer by spilling paint on the printing head power cables. Be carrfull.
Hi - Just wondering what brand of steam cleaner do you use? TIA
Hi .... got it all done bar finding the red door trigger catch wire slot...to connect at the end of the build so getting door open message can you tell me where it is?!!
Very similar process for the WF-4630.
Good to know. Thank you!
this is a terrific video. The use of steam was something I hadn't thought of. That being said, more than a few sites have cautioned against using US cleaning as it can destroy the print head membranes. Any thoughts on that?
You can only use US for certain models with carefully managed timings. Trial and error. Most of Epson can’t handle it. However, it is very effective when it works.
@@BCHTechnologies How can I find out if my Epson TX810FW will handle ultrasonic cleaner?
My wf4640 after cleaning are printing nothing, before black was almost perfect but colors was blocked in 30%. Now I have blank page. Must I priming after this or what can by more?
I didn't go as far as taking it apart, I opened the door and placed a piece of cut up thin cloth wider than the head assembly. I soaked it in alcohol before I placed it along the metal under the head and moved the head to the middle of the cloth so I could grab it both sides. I then cleaned the head by moving the cloth back and forth while pulling upward.
I had to run a few machine head cleans from the menu but eventually I got all blacks and colours showing on the test matrix.
can you make video for that please!!
@@mamedaisuki7066 I can't really, but I thought I ruined the printer after that as it hardly deposited any ink. So I ran the head cleaning function a few times and it started to come back (ink must have really diluted and softened).
Eventually all the jets had become clear and it has remained unclogged..
Just as the top instructions say, you'll be fine.
Hello i just a an r1800 used it was in great condition except the maintenance tank need to be reset, i switched the cartridge and cleaned the pads, now i cant get a good print even after cleaning the wiper blade the capping station pads, the pads on the other side too .... not really sure what else to do
hi im getting a 0x90 error on my wf 5620 do u know hat fault is that?
I have a problem 103.in epson 5710 plz how i can fix it
I have been able to unscrew both screws of the ink plastic pipes on top of the print head but as soon as I did that, lots of black ink started to come (cartridges has been removed, but there is lots of ink remaining in the pipes) so if you do this, take lots of precausions to avoid ink to go in the little wheels intented to move paper sheet or you'll get black ink lines on all your sheets for the reste of your life...The ink is very difficult to clean on the skin, so wear gloves!
I cleaned mine as instructed. Everything is dry and I put it back together. Plugged it in but now it won't turn on. I hold the power button on and it flashes on and off. I'm sure I hooked it all up correctly. Please help! I forgot to add I have a Epson wp 4020
i think it is not totally dry, specially the inside part on the electronic. i have the same situation, one of a transistor get short, so i have to replace it.
dont do as you seen, if did you ruined your printer as put hot water direct to your bald head,
what about print heads that slam into the side of the printer? sometimes it hits so hard, the printer crashes and you have to restart it?
Hi. You can get the electric circuit wet. The print head itself is actually wet when you are cleaning it. The FACTORY cleans the electric contacts when it is being produced. They are just brass, copper or other conductive leads. They are not made out of wood or paper which would disintegrate contacting water. Dry before you re-connect it, will be safe.
Agree. Just make sure to dry the connections before putting it back. We had an accident in WF-3520 which we didn't wipe it dry. The electricity was strong enough to burn a small hole on the ribbon. We are surprised how much juice goes into the printhead. However, it is okay to get it wet as long as you dry it properly before put it in.
Just use pressurized air can spray moisture out. Or sit it on a towel if you can be patient.
Water is not used in electronic production after the board is populated, mostly the boards are washed in solvents like MEK that don't tend to become electrically conductive, evaporate easily, and don't have high surface tension to retain them in crevices, though mild or occasional exposure to water is not an issue, depends on specific protective measures chosen, but generally avoiding conductive path via contaminated water is sufficient in operation. It would have been an issue if there was any exposed copper, but there plain isn't, any copper is tinned and the PCB is then lacquered, and the contacts are plated with a special gold-nickel alloy that may also contain iron, carbon and cobalt. Brass barely ever finds use in electronics.
I'm curious why you don't just set the head assembly in a shallow dish of MEK or lacquer thinner overnight.
Got half way through this and was like, nope going to go buy a lazer printer. My fault for not doing the proper maintenance. I'd rather try and set up an AWS VPC env than do this. Of course I am keeping it all in my garadge to maybe try to put back together in the future.
my printer got an error and it wont get to the point where the white stopper moves out of place. Do you know of a way to get around this?
What does the error message say? Could you copy the exact text of the message? Thanks.
Hi do u have reference of EPSON L1455😥😥
hey mate does the printer head come out same way on a epson RX510 printer looks way more hard to get it out of this unit i tied cleaning so many times know think its time to clean the head the right way have you got any info on this unit ? i think i need to try steam bath to clean it
I am watching your video on how to take your Epson printer apart to clean the printer head at one point at 5 minutes and 18 seconds you're taking the front door off and it doesn't show how to disconnect your not showing how to disconnect it on the left hand side your camera just dips down too far and we have messed with us and we can't get it apart we have taken the two screws out of the cartridge compartment and the screw that's on the right hand up or right hand side but we need to know how to get the right hand side apart so we can lift it up and off of the printer please help us
Thanks so much for subscribing and supporting the channel - it really helps us get closer to the 100k goal! I appreciate you catching that section at 5:18 where the camera dips. After removing the screws, the left side of the front door usually has a small plastic latch inside that needs to be pressed or pried gently. I recommend using a thin flathead screwdriver or plastic spudger to push it inward while lifting the panel slightly. Sometimes a little wiggling helps if it feels stuck. Also, double-check for hidden clips along the seam. If you need more detailed instructions, check out bchtechnologies.com - we have repair guides that walk you through Epson printer disassembly step by step. Let me know if this helps or if you run into any other snags - I’m happy to assist further!
I bought an Espon WP4545. It had great reviews and came highly recommended. For 6 months, my printer worked great BUT then there was a massive leak with the cartridges. Please bear in mind, I only ever used original cartridges from bought (at a premium) from Epson and only used quality paper.
Do some quick research and you will see that there is an inherent leakage problem with this range of printers. Epson is not taking responsibility and frankly, I haven't got the time to chase this legally with them. I'm left with one of two choices. Get an expensive repair or just go get another printer, which I'm going to do.
So take my advice and do yourself a favour, go for another brand.
First, you're absolutely right: Epsons are ghastly printers and should be left alone on shops' shelves. Second, you had a prime case of warranty claim, as the printer went wrong within the warranty period (over here is 2 years). You should have insisted and persisted to get redress.
hi. I have a epson c5790 printer. My printer does not print magenta. I'm doing head cleaning, magenta color is coming. Head is intact. but after some printing, the red color still does not come on.
I inserted a solid cartridge problem persists again. please help me. thanks.
prints yellow instead of red constantly.
I have done eeprom reset. I updated the software problem continues.
That’s a laser printer. I don’t do laser at all. Sorry.
@@BCHTechnologies thanks but my printer inkjet.
did you manage to fix it? I have the same problem with my Epson wf c5290, it prints a few sheets of magenta well and then it just stops coming out, I have tried doing multiple cleanings but nothing solves it and I am afraid to remove the head for manual cleaning without being sure that that will solve the problem
@@catalinatoledokiessling9803 It's called "ink starving" and it's probably due to the ink microfilter sitting inside the cartridge spikes inside the printer being half-clogged. You need a good cleaning liquid with ammonia (use it warm) and possibly an ultrasonic bath. Careful as it may fry the nozzles, especially MicroPiezo heads.
Time to buy a new printer!!!
Lmfao on everything
за разбор принтера😘 . за чистку ПГ 🙈🙊
This is why I hate Epson printers because the heads clog easy.
like , like , like , like .... you are great , thank you
They're right. Leave it to the professionals. Or just buy a new one I'll just print B&W only until it dies, or I make it die.
Seriously not worth the time and effort, having just tried it, but thanks for the video anyway. Complex dis-assembly, unlikely that print head will be cleanable by an amateur, and then dozens of ways to fatally mess up the re-assembly. I’ve ordered a new Epson EcoTank, which will now cost less to run and comes with 3 yrs support...
So what you're saying is go buy a new printer... cool.
Far too complicated for the ordinary punter to follow. After 9 years better to buy another printer, rather than pay someone an exorbitant fee to clean printer head. Sad, I liked my Epson 4535. Now I have fork out the money to buy another.
in theory it should be so. but you on video washed the print head with water, 100% after this procedure there will be a short circuit (similarly the ultrasound print heads epson and canon are badly affected, I've been repairing the printheads for 15 years and I can give many safe tips for restoring the heads.
Центр Заправки Картриджей I have an epson 4530, can you help me? Mines is clogged in two colors. What is the best and easiest way to fix it?
I have Epson WF-7511, I have cleaned the print head several times, but the print pattern is still improper, plz give me some solution.
I would absolutely welcome seeing your take on servicing a similar device in more detail.
You said you've been cleaning print heads for 15+ years and criticize the methods in the video and then say you can offer the proper procedures to go about doing it correctly but then people praise you for your wealth of knowledge and wisdom and cry out for help but are only left with the sound of crickets chirping........you pulled a Houdini on em'...😔
Are you kidding? Im just going to buy a new printer. They are a dime a dozen. Nothing wrong with the presentation. Just the product. Its easier to change the breaks on my PT Cruiser.
the printer he is working on is $300
Exactly what I'm saying. I came to visit my parents and my dad purchased this printer from a yard sale. Time for them to go to Walmart and purchase a printer
@@baba_babaa2 So was the Epson Ecotank I replaced it with.
